Nice dog friendly restaurant with amazing pizza! Was a bit dubious about going to this restaurant due to reading all the not so good reviews about being unfriendly/bad food etc… I visited Glencoe Gathering with my wife, 8 year old daughter & dog (large bull breed) & we couldn’t fault this place. Staff were friendly & even brought out a bowl of water for our dog. Ordering food was easy, place your order at the till & get a buzzer for when it’s ready. The only negative was not all food on the menu was available. We had the pizza & it was one of the best I’ve had! Give this place a try next time you visit Glencoe.

If I could rate this restaurant zero stars I would. We booked an anniversary dinner in the Steak & Lobster Bistro only to arrive to find all doors closed. We found a side door entrance and went in and were immediately “greeted” by a waiter/restaurant manager(?) telling us no food available as he was one chef down and not accepting “walk ins”. Explained we had a booking only to be told he didn’t know if he could fit us in and we could expect long delays for our food. When I commented that his welcome was extremely poor he started shouting at me and wouldn’t calm down. We were eventually seated in the worst table the restaurant (middle of floor, next to serving cupboard and restaurant entrance - so there would be people constantly moving around us) so I asked to move tables only to be met with another barrage of abuse. We decided to leave as we were feeling embarrassed and humiliated. His reaction was to shrug his shoulders and say it was our decision. Asked another staff member who witnessed all this to give us the man’s name so we could write a formal letter of complaint to his employer only to be told he wouldn’t. Thus condoning this appalling behaviour. Never, ever have we experienced such abysmal customer service. Totally ruined what should’ve been a special anniversary dinner. Avoid this place at all costs until they get rid of this rude, arrogant individual.

Was expecting the best food as signs said best fish n chips around, greasy smell in restaurant, oil wasn’t fresh as food was dark in colour. Chef put chips on plates with hands lifting from one plate to the next (not the best hygiene) chips were frozen produce was expecting fresh potatoes. Not the best won’t be back. Menu seemed good on line but once there your told we were only doing suppers or pizza nothing else.

Absolutely awful. Staff rude and not helpful. Queue of people behind us were all told they would be waiting an hour for a takeaway so they all left. We thought this must be due to the food been fantastic and popular…. How very wrong we were. The sausage supper was £13 and wasn’t edible. It was basically a battered hotdog and very greasy. Now I will be honest, the pizza was £10 and was very nice so we both shared the pizza as we couldn’t eat the supper. Service was very slow for takeaway food and just rude. We wouldn’t come back and I would rather a sandwich from the petrol station next door. AVOID.

Joined the queue of people waiting to be seated. And waited . . . and waited (you get the drift). Three workers noticed us the second we walked through the door, so must have also clocked the other people already loitering there, but chose to ignore us. Eventually a worker approached the hungry throng (eight patient souls, I counted) waiting to seated. "Restaurant's closed," he announced bluntly, turning and walking away. This was despite it being 5.45pm on a clearly busy evening with diners still eating. No other explanation was given, so we all shuffled aimlessly back out the door our bellies rumbling and our lips grumbling. I guess it's called The Gathering because the staff just allow folks to amass awhile with the misconception they're going to get fed in a, ahem, restaurant before being booted out by your leave. Piss-poor but typical Highland hospitality.

The food was fine. It’s a nice place. The only problem we had was we had to give our order about four times and then manager saw we had been sitting for a while without any food then he came and took our order and we still didn’t get anything until he noticed later we still didn’t have our food and then he went and got hit himself and was apologetic. We were on a schedule and didn’t expect to have to wait 45 minutes for a small lunch and a coffee.

The food was lovely and very reasonably priced. We had a mix of mussels, stornoway black pudding and pizza and they were all very good. We didn't finish the pizza, so they gave us a box to take the leftovers away, which was good of them. The team seemed to be very overstretched, which did have an impact on the overall service at our own table and the tables around us. With orders not being submitted, items missing and having to chase down someone to let you pay! We'll definitely go back the next time we're in town and hopefully they'll take on more staff to make it easier on the team.

Food was tasty and cooked by the friendly, smiley chef. Service was absolutely shocking. Male server (possibly manager) was extremely rude and actually came across as aggressive and intimidating. The owners/management really need to teach him manners if he wants to work in hospitality. From reading other reviews this does not appear to be an isolated incident.

We stopped off here in our motorhome whilst touring west Scotland. Very friendly and helpful staff. Food was amazing, I had scampi and fries which was excellent. Good choice of beers available and the night we stayed there was live music in the bar. Lady from the hotel (sorry forgot to ask her name!) very kindly allowed us to stay in the huge car park at the rear of the hotel providing we bought a meal in the restaurant, that's fine by me. Thoroughly recommend this place, also the surrounding scenery is stunning. Thank you again.

Visited this place for takeaway. The restaurant was a shambles. The kitchen staff were not wearing masks. One of the servers had his mask over his mouth but not his nose. There was an aggressive woman who was barking orders at customers to fill in their track and trace which was ironic given that staff were not wearing masks. Takeaway was being served at the back door of the restaurant but we were told we had to walk through the restaurant to wait for it. And the to say the food was average is being kind.

Called up to book a table and were told that there was no need so we just turned up. Turned up to the restaurant and we were shocked at how rude the staff were. No signs anywhere in the entrance advising us to wait to be seated but we waited nonetheless and were completely ignored by three members of staff who saw us enter and just stood at the till chatting and ignoring customers. Another customer pushed past us and asked for menus, so we assumed that maybe we didn’t need to wait after all. My husband approached the members of staff and was told very abruptly by a blonde haired woman who held her hand up to his face to wait. Eventually the blonde haired woman approached us and without saying anything or making eye contact pointed to the ‘track and trace’ app sign. She did not listen to us properly, didn’t even say ‘hello’ and was very abrupt and not very welcoming at all. We asked for a table for two and she seated us inside next to a table full of screaming kids. The tables were definitely not distanced 1m apart, which made us feel uncomfortable. By this point my husband just did not want to stay as we could not hear ourselves speaking and felt very silly and unwelcomed. We asked if we could be sat outside instead where it was quieter and there was more social distancing in place. We were told no again very abruptly, despite the man who had pushed past us at the bar being sat outside and ordering food! Seems like they have one rule for some customers and another one for others. Perhaps they don’t like tourists or outsiders, certainly felt that way! At this point we walked out without ordering anything as we did not want to spend our money there. I don’t think I’ve ever entered an establishment where I have been made to feel so unwelcome and uncomfortable. A really unpleasant experience. Would recommend giving it a miss if you’re a tourist and going to the Claichag Inn just down the road instead where the food is amazing and the staff and atmosphere is absolutely lovely. They actually care about their customers!

Delicious food however the service wasn’t the best. We saw two men go in one of the entrances and assumed it was the way in. We were berated by the waitress and asked to leave but the two men who entered before us were allowed to be seated. We went round to the correct entrance and the same waitress took our order from outside and locked those who were having takeaway orders outside. I understand covid restrictions but it seemed a bit much and there could be better policies in place. We did speak to someone who we think was the manager who was lovely and helpful. The food was fantastic and the views from the beer garden were amazing too.

Used this restaurant in 2020, our first visit was great, welcoming staff, good food and service. We visited again later in the same week and was disapointed by the behaviour of a particular member of staff and vowed not to visit again because of his rudeness and disinterest. In 2021 we visited with our family which included young children and 'gave the restaurant another chance', food was good although surprisingly there is no childrens menu. Also the same member of staff is still working at the restaurant and his behaviour seems not to have improved - unwelcoming and disinterested. When we return to the area, we will not be using this restaurant again.

Staff were rude upon entering, told us we cannot enter without track and trace, very rudely (happy to follow govt guidelines, just didn't know it was necessary for every individual). Following being seated they never actually checked if we filled it in, quite rude after the scene made to get us to scan the code in front of staff! Left us for 25 min with menus and didn't come back to actually take orders (not a reflection on how busy it was). Before we left saw the staff arguing with another table, not very good practise as even if a mistake was made by the customer, this could have been handled more professionally rather than multiple staff so loud and accusatory the other tables were looking. Only decent (veggie) thing on the menu was the vegetarian pizza - which was quite good, so if you're only going to eat that you're fine. The cauliflower gratin is glorified cauliflower cheese with a random piece of brie slapped on top, except not as good as regular cauliflower cheese. I would not return.

We were campervanning around Scotland last week and decided to try out a local pub on a whim for food on our last night in Glencoe..it did not disappoint. I went for the salmon which was truly delicious and came with a side of chunky homemade chips and my hubby went for the burger which he loved. We also got a side of the lobster mac and cheese which was delicious - compliments to the chef. We also had a glass of wine and a beer and the price was reasonable. The staff fussed over our dog and brought over a bowl of water for him as soon as we sat down which was greatly appreciated. The service was outstanding and friendly, attentive but not overly so. Covid measures were in place and all of the staff wore masks so we felt safe the whole time we were there. We also loved the open kitchen where you could see the food being cooked. We will definitely be recommending to friends and family that visit glencoe and hope to be back soon!

We stopped here instead of driving up to Fort William as we had a long day already and I didn’t wanna drive anymore. This place is tier 1, which means drinks and foods without many hoops to jump through. And obviously coming from a tier 1 area ourselves, we were happy to join the Gathering for some food ,)We had the burger, soup, fries and lobster. And some drinks. Firstly, I’ve eaten out all over the world, and I’m not basic but those chips were the best I’ve ever had. As 2020 changes, don’t change your chips. Burger was mixed gluten free bun actually had a lovely taste to it too. Soup was lovely with only complaint being that the bread with it could have been toasted too. Lobster was lovely and soft and all the food was served in a really aesthetically pleasing way. I have various hospitality venues over Scotland and covid 2020 is a testing time for everyone and the guys here done well. The female host / waitress / manager was engaging and had the right amount of sarcasm to make us feel normal again. All in all, value for money was there, service was good and you could sit outside and drink a drink. Somehow that is a luxury just now. Apart from the bread not being toasted I’m not a big fan of the pates being cleared from the table when others are still eating, my only complaints. Will be back :)

Myself and fiance visited glencoe during a two day break, the area is beautiful and we decided to eat at the Glencoe Gathering. This was a mistake. Due to two members of staff. At first we thought this was a good place to eat, the first lady that served us was friendly and welcoming, the food came which looked lovely and tasted great. During the meal a younger female member of staff came to the table to ask if we were finished while we were still eating, at first we put this down to a mistake but a few minutes later the staff member returned and started removing some crockery from the table, this again while we were still eating, she made no eye contact and did not ask if we were done.We then went to the till to pay for the meal, it turned out that this member of staff must have been new as another member of staff tried to teach her how to work the till, this would have been fine but neither member of staff spoke to us or made eye contact and just handed out the card machine. Also the woman being trained was rolling her eyes as her colleague tried to teach her how to use the till. We then asked if we could order drinks outside and we were given an outside table and told staff would assist, I ordered a pint of Guinness which a member of staff brought from the bar area, this member of staff was excellent, very jokey and welcoming. Then the original waitress we had earlier came out to take my partners order, we did not have a menu so my partner asked if they serve milk shakes, she was told no in quite an abrupt voice and asked what she wanted, the waitress then asked do you want coffee or hot chocolate, rather than giving us a menu or offering other options. My partner ordered a hot chocolate, the waitress soon arrived back and banged the hot chocolate on to the table walking away. The paper cup was less than a third full so my partner called over another member of staff that was passing to ask if this was correct. This male member of staff spoke in a very disrespectful manner saying that if you poured it in yo a cup it would fill it, he then grabbed the cup and starting walking away. I called out to ask where he was taking my partners drink to which he said aggressively, "I'm going to get a fresh one calm down" as he was walking away. I said it's you that needs to calm down and he turned back towards myself in an aggressive manner asking me yo repeat myself. I repeated that it was him that needed to calm down and he returned to the building.Another waitress brought a fresh hot chocolate a few minutes later, which again was not a fill cup and only luke warm and over priced. All in all this place had nice food, great views and some good staff, bar staff very friendly, but ended up being a very uncomfortable atmosphere caused by two members of staff and I did not appreciate the way that my fiance was spoken to by a male member of staff.

We visited Glencoe Gathering on a Tuesday evening, having called ahead and told that they were not currently taking bookings and it was 'first come first served'. On arrival we were told the restaurant was full and were invited to have a drink in the pub whilst we waited, by the very friendly staff. After waiting no longer than say 10-15 minutes we were seated. We ordered a burger and salmon meal and they were both really tasty, followed by ice cream sundaes. All courses arrived to the table within 20 minutes of ordering. Despite the restaurant being busy we were well looked after by the staff. We had seen previous re views commenting on the decor and covid measures. Personally we felt the decor was cosy and well suited to the guests/customers - mostly walkers and holiday makers wanting a relaxed meal after a long day. The interior was industrial (and very on trend!) but comfortable with plenty of spaces between the tables. We felt that the restaurant adhered to social distancing measures perfectly. Another plus is that it is very dog friendly, with the waitress even bringing over a bowl of water for our little one!2 courses for 2x people and 2x beers cost £50 which we felt was reasonable. Don't underestimate this from outside. I was skeptical as I didn't think it looked appealing from outside and the signage is unclear as what to expect, some signs advertising burgers, others fish and chips so we were unsure what to expect. The menu is a very varied offering burgers, pizza, fish and chips, but also (happily for us) a range of fresh seafood. We both ordered the mussels and they were superb, possibly the best I've ever had. We also had a side of chips which were excellent. The interior is lack lustre and the sources (mayo) come in little sachets which is disappointing but the food more than compensates for this.Overall I'd say excellent food but a restaurant with a confused identity.

It was nice to see the place was busy, at reduced capacity (in light of the current pandemic) with some queuing required outside. We had a reservation and was shown to our table. We waited over 20 minutes for someone to take our food and drink orders. We both had soup to start, which was nice and hearty. However, we hadn't even finished our soup, before our main courses were being thrusted onto the table meaning we had to re-arrange everything on the table and hurry to finish our soup to prvent our mains getting cold. Because we didn't have a break between courses, we ended up getting full very quickly and had to leave some of the mains. Very disappointed!

The Hotel is nice - rooms clean, quirky and all necessary amenities but go somewhere else for food. I appreciate these are tough times for all but we came to support your business and really wished we hadn’t bothered following our experience. As a former restaurant manager, I try to always be objective and fair in my reviews. The staff were disinterested and the service lacked management presence overseeing the restaurant or directing the staff. Other diners around were complaining both at dinner and breakfast and the restaurant seemed shambolic whilst staff congregated at the till. Service was very poor, staff member stank of body odour suggesting poor hygiene and clearly didn’t want to be there and made no effort to deliver good customer service. The staff member managed to get various aspects of the 2 course meal wrong and when we informed staff of incorrect dishes and questioned the incorrect bill the supervisor made excuses and became defensive when really the root cause was the team member not repeating the order and offering no check backs at any point. The service was so poor we didn’t stay for dessert and settled our bill with a full table of dirty plates. The restaurant was not particularly busy but the staff sure made it look difficult. Unfortunately we had the misfortune of being served by the same soap dodging member of staff for breakfast. Food quality was very average and thankfully eat out to help out made the cost slight more palatable (overpriced for quality served). Major shake up in service, hospitality and training much needed.

Stopped here on way back from Skye as couldn't get in to cafe in bVillage. Looked nice inside but had concerns where we were seated as too close to next table and ceiling fans were on which I thought was against guidance. When food came the cauliflower gratin was watery and my Veggie haggis fritters were barely warm and food very greasy.Customers were also wandering through the restaurant in groups with no masks. When the bill came I asked if they wanted my details as they had failed to take these. The member of staff stated they were rushed off their feet and had tried to recruit staff but ouldnt get any. Surely if you can't cope with a certain number of customers you reduce capacity rather than safety.Won't be back.

Dropped in after a cycle ride for food after seeing great reviews for the fish and chips. Unfortunately it really didn’t live up to expectations. Firstly, we didn’t feel particularly safe from a COVID-secure point of view. We wanted to eat outside but after ordering for the picnic table area we were told to wait for 25 minutes at an indoor table. Being in a high risk group this made us particularly uncomfortable. Staff were coming close and removing masks to speak to customers within 1m of them. There were no 1m+ signs although most customers were within 2m and often within 1m of each other. In particular the queue into the gathering was 2 way on a narrow ramp and very few customers were keeping a distance or wearing masks. No one way systems in place although there was a bottle of sanitiser at the entrance. A crowd of customers were waiting for food and drinks around the restaurant tables inside. Some members of staff were confused of arrangements and we were asked to wait outside for food once the drinks arrived. Luckily the queue was quiet at this point as we could not maintain a safe distance otherwise. The food is being offered for many outdoor tables as takeaway including drinks in plastic glasses and thus the venue claim it does not qualify for eat out to help out even when eaten in on the premises. This contradicts the government rules for the scheme which state “When you register for the scheme, it is expected that you will offer it during the whole of your opening hours on all the eligible days that you are open and on all qualifying sales of food or drink. You should offer the discount where there is a reasonable expectation at the point of sale that the customer is purchasing food or non-alcoholic drinks to eat or drink in.” We had made it very clear we were eating on the premises and the beer in plastic glasses would also suggest this. The takeaway designation may be to avoid contact tracing as no details were taken even with waiting indoors next to diners and using toilets on site. It didn’t appear that any details were taken for customers on the main restaurant tables either. Had we not have ordered we would have left. When the food arrived, the fish and chips was awful. Soggy dripping with oil and both fish and batter totally dry, so much so that the batter crumbled into a powder. It was also cold on arrival. Not wanting to risk the queue, we took it to the main reception who offered to contact the kitchen manager and get them to speak to us but after half an hour waiting while we finished drinks we were left without food or a refund and left the premises. We won’t be back and suggest anyone else doesn’t bother either. The words of one of the chefs to a customer outside they turned away as they were too busy said it all - “go to Quarriers chippy down the road - the food is better”

Visited here while staying at caravan park nearby. Took advantage of the eat out to help out scheme. Even at half price wasn’t worth it. Cold plates So meal was cold. I had supposedly 10oz steak and it was tiny, half a burnt tomato and 1/4 (yes a 1/4) of a portobello mushroom. Slow service. Very limited menu. Nothing on it for kids. Knickerbocker glory was nice though. Also was charged full price with no discount. They did refund £20 though when this was pointed out.

We had a great meal here on the last night of our rainy camping trip. We booked ahead as it seemed to be a busy spot. Hand sanitizer was provided and track and trace details were taken. The staff were friendly and welcoming, though the menu was a wee bit limited with a few things unavailable.I ordered the steak which was perfectly cooked and delicious. My son ordered the haggis supper which was unfortunately cold on arrival, but this was dealt with very well and a new (even bigger!) portion arrived quickly. The staff couldn’t have been more apologetic and were fantastic at making sure everything was great after that. We’ll definitely return if we’re in the area.

Fantastic meal and great value for money. Booked a table a few days before we went up to the campsite at Invercoe. Arrived a little bit early but they took us in straight away. Track and trace details were then taken before we ordered. I had the highland venison burger and my wofe had a small mussels and a side of chips, portion sizes where great, and the food was piping hot! Staff where friendly and considdering the circumstances of the “new normal” they did great making sure everyone in the restaurant where seen to safely and effitiantly, will absoloutly be back the next time we are in the area! Went for an early evening pint. Dog friendly. Staff friendly too! Didn't eat so cannot comment on the food. Confusing place though as there are several entrances and a couple of bars and we were unsure which was the one open to the public for drinks only! Got in eventually!

We were pleasantly surprised by this place. We parked at the rear and entered through the back door which brings you in to what looks like a sit in fish & chips shop. However, there is a bar & restaurant area downstairs. There was a lovely atmosphere with a real wood burning stove which added a nice feel to the place. The food was delicious and the portion sizes were perfect. Service could have been better but it certainly wasn't bad and we had a nice time.

Went to Glencoe Gathering and had a wonderful meal in the bar area. It was a cosy relaxing room with a nice atmosphere. The bar staff and waitress were so friendly and welcoming and were attentive to myself and the wife, and even more attentive to our Border Collie. The dog was brought water and some dog treats and made a real fuss of, and of course he loved it. The meal was fabulous, We both had the ‘Real man haddock’ which was huge. The missus couldn’t handle it but she had some help from me and the dog. One of the best fish and chip meals I can remember having, couldn’t fault it. Overall we had an excellent evening and will be in again later in the week to sample something else off the menu. Thanks to all involved

My fiance and I visited Glencoe House for a 2 night break. We chose to eat here on our 2nd night and were pleasantly surprised. At first we were just going to have a couple of drinks and ended up having dinner. I chose the lobster whilst my fiance had a burger, we both really enjoyed it, followed by the chocolate brownie with ice cream to top it off. Would recommend to anyone visiting nearby.

We booked this place as a larger party (19 approx) and pre booked all but one of the meals. We were a little surprised and disappointed on arrival to discover that our party had been split over 5 separate tables, including what can only be described as two bistro sets for two people. Slightly contrary to the promise on the website of “the seating arrangement promising conversation and communion” and a “sense of community gathering”.

We came across Glencoe Gathering late in the afternoon in need of some tea and coffee and some refreshments. Upon entering we already regretted our choice, we were the only customers there and instead of staff offering help we were stared at by 2 members with no greeting at all. Eventually an older member of staff approached and once we asked if they would be willing to serve just hot drinks (it was nearing dinner and we did not know if they would be serving), we were rudely asked what we wanted without being seated or shown menus. After asking for a standard tea and coffee, we were told to sit wherever and after quite a wait got served some watery, tasteless, barely warm drinks. Upon finishing, no member of staff returned to us so wanting out as quickly as possible we walked up to the till to pay and this time the member of staff printed a receipt and took our payment without a single word to us! The whole experience was uncomfortable, with extremely tasteless and overpriced drinks.

No food on offer other than crisps, ice cream and a meagre offering of cake, shocked as we were there for a 1pm show and had travelled over an hour thinking we would be fine for lunch at the theatre. Staff were fine, no hint of getting things done in a timely fashion and not much interaction with customers. Decor is depressing, such a big space makes it cold and echoey. Just no atmosphere whatsoever. Very disappointed and won't be back.

We stayed at this Inn/Hotel at the beginning of November, returning home we received an email asking us to review our stay. This we did by email, however, we did not receive a reply nor did we receive a reply to our follow up copy email, which I now type below. "Many thanks for your email, usually we send a report good or bad to Tripadvisor, as you have asked for feedback I am happy to share our thoughts with you initially. I have an email from you confirming our reservation from the 4th to the 8th November, 2024 in a Garden Room. This was because we have a dog and thought this would be an easier option should she need to go outside. When we arrived we had NOT been booked into a Garden Room for our five nights, as per your confirmation. We were offered a garden room for 3 nights and two other nights elsewhere within the hotel. I really did not feel changing rooms, packing and unpacking for two nights was a good idea, so we opted to stay again in Room 111 for the five night stay. I am sure you will agree, this was not a good start to our holiday. I spoke to another couple who had also booked a garden room only to find they too had been misallocated a room and these long established customers were very upset and vowed not to return next year for their 8th year. I feel it necessary to draw to your attention the lack of servicing for Room 111. Each day our duvet was "just turned over at the top", the bottom sheet was not straightened and the pillows were as we had arisen, not even straightened and aligned. The cleanliness in the bathroom left much to be desired. As I am sure you are aware there is no toilet brush next to the lavatory. The toilet was not cleaned throughout our stay and the bowl after five nights was turning a light shade of brown, however, diligent attention was paid to folding and making the spare toilet roll and the one for use look pretty. I would have preferred a clean toilet. This takes me on to the bath. On arrival there was a single long dark hair in the bath, as we did not use the bath and both have grey hair, this was still there when we left!! The shower doors require a thorough clean and polish, there is black mould on the wall and around the base of the shower. During our stay this was NOT cleaned at all. Mould and Mildew spray with a toothbrush would solve this problem. Likewise the wash hand basin was neglected. No dusting or vacuuming was carried out in the room for the duration of our stay. For your information I left a piece of cotton and a clean tissue on the floor and they were not picked up. When we had dinner in the bar area dogs were quite welcome. However, in the morning we did feel rather like second class citizens as we were with other dog owners required to use the alternative dining room, which was uninviting and a long way from the self-service area in the breakfast room. On two days for breakfast we were along with four other owners with dogs, allowed to use the breakfast room. No explanation was given for the flexible rule. To end on a good note, the staff were pleasant and helpful, always willing to assist in anyway they could. It is with interest I await your response. " On our next trip to Scotland we shall stay elsewhere.

Just popped in here at lunchtime, being 'in holiday' mode visiting Nairn. I asked for a cone of chips and the chap that served me was very pleasant, chatty and polite. The cone was nearly overflowing with chips with plenty of salt & vinegar added. They were freshly made, hot and very tasty. I would highly recommend if you are visiting Nairn. I will definitely go again and next time have the fish & chips - well you are at the seaside :)
