A lovely restaurant with nice food and lovely helpful staff. A spacious restaurant with great views. On offer was fish and chips, macaroni cheese, steak and mushroom pie, beef and haggis olives.

This cafe has fantastic cakes, visited yesterday with two friends to have coffee and cake!! and was given a very thin slice of chocolate cake, two other slices of cake and coffee! They all tasted lovely! I was so pleased it was with the discount as the cake was £3.99 a slice!!! To me that is very expensive!! The bill should have been over £19.00, but got the £9.52 off! Will not be eating cake again!!

Disappointed that a cafe of this size won't corner off a small area where parents & carers would feel more at ease with babies & toddlers. It's a large area, which can get busy at lunchtimes, therefore not a relaxing experience for anyone. I contacted the cafe to ask if they'd consider this - they replied (very politely) to say they had a container with crayons! Its perfectly understandable that premises pushed for space may find this tricky, but many still do try to accommodate youngsters with at least a box of toys positioned in a corner - however this place is huge, so presumably there just isn't the will to do so.

Very busy restaurant serving a range of tasty snacks and light meals. A bit confusing when you enter, but staff are helpful and food and drinks all good. Try their baking!

As a local from nearby Invergordon I almost always pop in to Simpsons at lunchtime whenever I'm up in Inverness. Delicious homemade food served quickly with fantastic views out over Inverness. The atmosphere is always bustling, the staff are super friendly and their cakes/home baking is to die for!! I have no idea where the people who have given Simpsons bad reviews ate but it definitely wasn't Simpsons. This place ROCKS! Top Tip: Order their Coronation Chicken Toasted Sandwich followed by a delicious coffee and a slice of the Banoffee Pie. Absolutely Divine!!

incredibly over priced, wait staff do barely anything, food barely above average. the section for ordering food is split in two so depending what you want you essentially have to make two orders! ridiculous.

I like coming here but I always find it a bit over priced like the rest of their products in the shop.... I suppose that's where old people spend their money :-) we will be back

Visited here twice when visiting family, once for afternoon tea and once for Sunday breakfast. The cake selection was fantastic and the black coffee to accompany it was strong and tasty. The following day we enjoyed a 6 item brekkie with toast and coffee. Very nice, especially the black pudding and tatty scone.

Very surprised to see such poor reviews for the excellent restaurant at Simpsons garden centre. This is actually a duplicate listing and folk should look up under Simpsons to see a more representative selection of reviews. We have lunch here on a regular basis, and whilst it is a large restaurant it is usually very busy and it can be hard to find a free table at peak times. It is busy for a good reason, and that reason is that the food is consistently excellent and very reasonably priced. In addition, the ambience is excellent and the staff are always pleasant and helpful. Folk will be well advised to ignore some of the reviews on here and instead have faith in the hundreds of folk who return to this excellent Garden Centre Restaurant time and time again.

The food here wasn't bad, and the portion sizes was good too. However, the price left a very bitter taste indeed. I was flabbergasted to have paid over £20 for three baked potatoes and three drinks. Honestly disgraceful.

Well after a two year absense from leaving reviews I felt obliged to leave a review of this 'restaurant'. The enterence to the shop its self was hostile with the mugshots of the employees leering over all those shopping and their sneery faces following me intimidatingly as I went through. The cafe appearence was nothing to right home about (simple yet tacky) the ordering process however, was chaotic and downright dangerous. To be honest the whole ordering was amateur hour and it felt like it was down to me to take command- simply put that is unacceptable for the high end prices being charged. I had the chore of eating the mozeralla, salami and jalapeño panini. What met me was not food pleasure but a painstaking task and when I cut the bread fat hot fat oozed out onto all around me. It tasted as if it had been drowned in grease for the past week and brought back from the dead, only to be put on my unfortunate plate. Overall, clean plates all round and a must visit for for those of us wanting good old fashioned family food.

For those without alternative dietary requirements I will say this venue is buzzing with people with a lot available and I am sure you would have a great visitFor those where you dietary requirements and standards may concern please read on. Whilst the options are vast and the food and drink on offer is definitely good, the general standards were unfortunately lax. Visited on recommendation and was rather disappointed. The menu offers a variety of items for dietary requirements such as gluten free diets, vegans and vegetarians, so upon arrival to the serving portion of the restaurant we were rather shocked to see the gloves and utensils being used across all items, dairy, meat, salads etc, which was very distasteful and could also cause issues not only for those with dietary requirements based on morals but also allergies. Hot food also arrived incorrectly, although this was corrected with no quibble upon arrival. As other reviewers have said, it is very busy, a little overpriced and the tills are poorly laid outAgain I will stress for the standard customer the establishment would no doubt be a local gem, just a few standards here and there that could use some improvements

We were a party of 3 adults and 2 children. This was one of the best Sunday Lunches we've had. I asked for a selection of roasts; beef, pork, and lamb. All succulent and lots of it! The vegetables were equally delicious, parnips, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower au gratin. Then apple crumble to finish. This was tops! Will go again.

While visiting Inverness with friends and family we wished to go somewhere just for some coffee and tea and settled on Simpsons restaurant which was quite spacious and seemed reasonable in terms of value and quality. The restaurant staff were helpful and friendly and if in Inverness again I would certainly go back to this restaurant. I would add that we had to walk through this large store to reach the restaurant!

I'm afraid I'm regularly looking for alternatives to Simpson's these days, to eat. Although I am pleased they seem to have done away with the services of the pianists (thank goodness), I too find the queueing system very awkward. Food and drinks do get cold while being held up in one way or the other. And, yes, I also find it overpriced like others. One of my biggest problems is usually the heat and the alarmingly loud background noise - so many other people talking I can't hear myself think. Somewhere quieter for me please - with better air conditioning, fairer prices and a better queueing system. Might just have a sandwich in the car!! Ah, peace!

I visit simpsons quite often for lunch, the food is lovely although slightly overpriced! The thing that gets me is all the different queues. There is one queue for hot food and one queue for sandwiches etc which is fine if there is two of you, get your own, not so good however if you are with getting for two people. I had my elderly granny with me who cant stand for very long so she went to get a seat while I got the food, I had to join the sandwich queue for 10minutes to get her sandwich then join the hot queue to get my panini! Not very practical! Would be much more sensible to have one queue for all! Apart from that though the food is really nice.

This self service café/restaurant is a good place to come for lunch. There's a wide selection of cold meals such as sandwiches, wraps and salads. There are also hot snacks and meals ranging from soup and paninis through to pasta dishes, baked potatoes, and meat dishes with a selection of vegetables. The Glasshouse also serves scones and cakes. There's a carvery here on Sundays. As others have said, this isn't the cheapest place to eat in Inverness, but the prices are reasonable.

£2.25 for a very average slice of millionaire shortbread is just too much. Prices have gone up recently and quality hasn't. The coffee is still very poor. I couldn't help thinking that if there were fewer staff standing around looking for something to do they might be able to reduce prices to more acceptable levels. There are better places for coffee and cakes in Inverness.

Always come here for lunch when in Inverness and never disappointed. If there is any criticism it is that sometimes your coffee or tea is cooling off before the freshly cooked Toastie arrives at your table. Staff very friendly and helpful. It can get very busy at times but always clean. Another pleasant experience here today.

I called in at Simpsons Garden Centre in Inverness and had lunch in the Gardenhouse Restaurant, which was excellent. A great selection of food from lunches to coffee and cake. Making it extra special was some young people playing traditional music on fiddles and piano. In case you don't know where it is, just look right as you come into Inverness via the A9 and you will see it. Well worth a visit. I cant believe RNBScott's revue, he must work for a competitor.

The view from the restaurant looking north towards the Black Isle is very nice but that's about it. The coffee tastes like dishwater and although their breakfasts seem to be good value the quality of food therein is very poor. It is also served up before you have to join a separate queue for tea or coffee and then another queue to pay so by the time you sit down it is cold and cold, greasy food isn't nice. Worst of all however is the display of Christmas goods in the garden centre which begins in September!! - and to reach the restaurant you have to walk through this display. Surely any business that seeks to commercialise Christmas for almost half of the year does not deserve custom.

Visited two Sundays on the trot. On both occasions the food area was very busy indeed (which suggests the venue and food are very well thought of by the customers). The food was excellent - good portions and piping hot. Staff still managed to mile despite being run off their feet. Be prepared to be patient while queuing, but it's worth the wait.

Where do we start... The designer must have been inspired when on a cheap all-inclusive 2 star break at a beach resort in Spain. It serves cheap food at inflated prices. The staff struggle speaking English and whoever called it a restaurant has delusions of grandeur. It's a canteen!! Tables are left dirty for far too long. It's counter service - which is hardly what you expect in a restaurant and there is absolutely no atmosphere whatsoever. They should have stuck to selling plants!

Lovely big teapot(not the usual horrible silver leaky thing) and gorgeous cakes. Highly recommend the Lemon Drizzle cake and the fruit scones are to die for. Atmosphere was light and open and the staff were helpful and smiley. Just a great visit by my family and I. Always go here for coffee when we come through for "afternoon piece and drink". Love looking round the garden centre too.
