Such an amazing find. Delicious home cooked food. My sister had a pie and veg and we saw other customers’ Sunday roasts. All looked amazing. 3 of us had afternoon tea and again this was great. Particular mention for the homemade scones which were simply the best. Very friendly and helpful service. Thank you. Would highly recommend and would definitely return if we were in the area.

Visited with 9 friends for a surprise 70th birthday. The ambiance of the tea room was lovely and we were greeted by Richard, the owner who was very friendly and attentive. Pots of tea with proper tea leaves not tea bags. Fresh sandwiches with a variety of fillings, light and airy scones with plenty of jam and cream and delicious bite sized cakes. A free surprise glass of fizz for the birthday girl was a lovely touch! All in all a great experience and excellent value for money.

Still the same wonderful food & impeccable hospitallity, but this time the management have the dreaded Covid restrictions to deal with. Happy to report that all precautions were taken - a place to sanitise hands is provided when entering the restaurant, and the lovely waiter wears his mask at all times and customers are encouraged to use their face coverings when not at the table. I enjoyed another delicious fish pie, and even my border terrier was treated to a sausage, so she didn't feel left out. We will be back!

. . . . . . . otro día.

A lovely place that is so much more than a great tea room. Much is made of the authentic Georgian surroundings and the friendly staff serving tea & cake in period costume, but it's also an excellent place for great food too. I took my family ( including fussy kids ) for lunch and we all had great food including fish pie ( highly recommended ) Spagetti Bolognese ( my 10 year-old loved it ) and a large collection of finger sandwiches, cakes, a pot of tea etc. All served cheerfully by 'George' the lovely butler. Many thanks, and we will be back very soon!

Went there for Sunday lunch, very nice well-cooked, had the vegan alternative as they don't do a vegetarian one...I don't think they get much call for it as the Georgians had a mistrust of vegetables.Nice meat apparently, nice vegetables served separately, I don't like mashed potato but was hungry and ate some and it was delicious, roast potatoes were sublime...could have done with a "supersize"option so that we could have more, but yes a good meal and we will be going back. We stayed for pudding and the cake was delicious...we are heavy drinkers so would have like to be able to buy wine by the bottle.Had the cream tea a few days before and that was also lovely, proper cream and a lot of it, nice little sandwiches particularly the cucumber ones. I highly rate this eaterie , it is a real gem and will be going back OFTEN.

Food and drink is amazing, huge portions and home cooked...such a difference that makes. The tea and coffee are best I've ever tasted. Really relaxing. Very good value indeed. I do not agree that this should be marked down for not having the label of organic...too many labels these days. Very convenient for centre of Stroud...minutes from station, shops, banks and the lovely walks in the area. We need more like this to prove that the chain establishments are not always value for money.

We'd walked past the Georgian Tearoom many times before going in. We're glad we did. It's not easy being a celiac in a tea room but the traditional Georgian apple pancake was perfect, as was the tea, served very hot and in a tea pot with the soy milk, as we requested. If we were going to be in Stroud longer, we'd have returned for a meal, for certain. The lady who served us, the co owner I believe, was very sweet and knowledgeable on the era and recipes.I have experience in the restaurant design field and my only suggestion would be to add a couple of palm plants near the window to add life and colour, clean the windows, and get rid of the Georgian mannequin outside, as it looked a bit odd and gimmicky given the era. I can see why you'd have it - its location is beside the railway bridge, so easily missed - but I think some white fairy lights in the window might serve you better to draw attention, or perhaps a candelabra or two with fake candlelight, if you want to stick to the Georgian theme. Either way, best of luck. I will recommend you highly to my Stroud friends.

They're really going for it, folks. I mean they want to provide you the true Georgian English dining experience. Mama has researched what people really ate back then (1700's) and how things were seasoned. Cooking was different from today's largely because they had no refrigeration (these people DO have a fridge). So things were preserved and spiced differently from what is common today. They specialize in various meat and veg dishes one might find eating in an upper middle class Georgian household. I hope they make it long term.

We stumbled across the Georgian Tearoom by accident and were delighted with it. The whole place is set out as Georgian times - decor, music, china and the staff are dressed in the period. It's a nice twist on all the other tearooms in the Cotswolds. I had the cheese scone which was honestly the best cheese scone I've ever had. My boyfriend had a cream tea and seemed equally pleased. The butler was very friendly and entertaining and told us all about the history of the place. Much more interesting than your standard tearoom and great food.

We booked to experience the Christmas Day lunch with friends, full of anticipation we arrived to be greeted by a friendly face, our table was set and we looked forward to a lovely lunch with friends, as the time went on the service deteriorated into a farce, the first course was ok, but the soup course was a disaster, two bowls arrived then 15 minutes the other 3 bowls arrived, now the fist two bowls had gone cold. The sorbet course was a lump of ice. The main course which was a buffet was a complete disaster for our table, when we finally arrived at the buffet there was little turkey left, no veg, mash or roast potatoes, we had to cue for 20 minutes until finally after several false promises some more arrived. It was supposed to all over by 3pm at 3:30 no sign of any puddings so we decided to leave, no offer of discount despite the farcical service and lack of food, lack of two staff failing turn up was given, however this did not explain the clear lack of planning of the food. Very disappointing and we left upset vowing never to return.

There is a lot of choice of catering in genteel Stroud, but this is unique - a classy themed tearoom, in a Georgian house, just yards from the town centre, and all the decor tastefully and authentically reproduced in the same period. Similarly the furniture and crockery also reflected this. Our "butler" and cook where also in period costume - which just goes to show how much thought and effort has gone in to this delightful eatery. Actually i cannot remember the last time I had had my order taken by someone in a 18th century costume, but this just adds to making the enjoyment. All of this in a lovely relaxed atmosphere., where our sandwiches and teas were just excellent All in all, the Georgian Tearoom delivers with great style and humour, and lovely food.

This is a real contrast to your usual tea room or coffee shop you usually find within a town. I was excited to visit this tea room soon after it opened with my mum and brother. the attention to detail to creating 'the best Georgian' experience has been done very well and after talking to the owner, they have many more things to look forward to. Everything within the tea room is Georgian, including all furniture, crockery, and decoration. Both owners who are very welcoming, are even dressed in Georgian clothing. The pen he used to take our order was even a feather pen! The scones and tea we had were all delicious and the range of food to choose from on the menu was great. The owner informed us that they are currently in the process of planning 'A Georgian' Christmas menu, and that they will even be open on Christmas Day. I look forward to visiting this tea room again.

I'm sorry to say, that after reading great reviews and having high expectations of what to expect....the experience was a huge disappointment. 6 of us booked in for Sunday dinner at 2pm,which started well,to be honest....as we were given a choice of the main room or a table set up for 6,in a separate room. We opted for the separate room and took our seats accordingly. After awhile a man came through to take our drinks order and I went 1st....."a o% Guinness please" sorry we don't have that "but I do at my other pub" OK then "could I have an elderflower please" ...."sorry we don't have that" again was the reply OK...."could I have a lime & soda please"....."sorry can't do that due to the trigger on the mixer not working" was the reply. OK...."could I have a lager shandy please"....."sorry can't do that either came the now familiar reply! By this time,it was getting embarrassing in front of the other's waiting to order their drinks and exacerbated,on the point of dehydration....I ordered a tap water.....which along with a gin & flat tonic didn't have ice in. Then.....dinner arrived. I had ordered the 3 meat roast, pork, beef & chicken (£23.50) and my expectations were high....well sadly it wasn't to be. The 3 meat roast consisted of a slice of pork,a slice of beef and a chicken leg plonked on the top...how bizarre! The meal itself was only warm and not piping hot as I would have expected.....after the drinks fiasco,I didn't feel able to complain without drawing attention myself in front of the other members of our party at the table. Finally....the bill came and as well as charging us for £2 for a lime & soda which I couldn't have, an £18 plus service charge had been added to the bill. That was the final insult.....£18 service charge for what exactly?? No drinks of choice and a luke warm meal. I wanted to dispute the service charge but again....I didn't want to draw attention to myself and possibly put my other party members in an embarrassing situation. I would like it refunded to be honest, as another issue I encountered while there....no soap in the soap dispenser despite visiting the toilet at the start of our meal and then again an hour or so later after the meal. I'm sorry, but I wouldn't eat there again or recommend to others to do so either......maybe it was "just a bad day at the office" for the pub on the day of our visit, but then the service shouldn't have been added automatically,if all of the above had been taken in to consideration.
