The Georgian Tea Room in Edinburgh, City of

We went in November so Christmas decor was up and gorgeous! Very festive ambiance. The service was okay. Tea and savory portion of the tower were tasty. I'm not much if a sweets person so I only ate the scone.

Afternoon tea at the Dome Georgian Tea Room is an experience not to be missed. From early November 2024 the decorations are exquisite and the ambience made for an extra special 65th birthday. All food was great quality and presented with finesse. Our server Jennifer was particularly attentive and had a lovely friendly, yet very polite manner which we felt was worthy of a special mention.

Had the afternoon tea….lovely experience. Tremendous service.A wee bit more food on the plates would have justified the price a bit more.

5 star pricing unfortunately service did not match .just my observations on the day definitely overhyped . expertise and quality of service were sadly lacking from both staff and management No axe to grind , but just observations witnessed 6 seperate issues (fact ) within i hour visit

Great venue for afternoon tea, food was brilliant and the staff so attentive – we were served by Marcus and he couldn’t do enough to make sure our time there was just right. Would definitely recommend.

An elegant room with an ambience of the luxurious past. We had coffee followed by tea (no problem) A selection of delicious sandwiches and fabulous cakes were delivered and duly demolished. We loved it! PS - Toilet facilities are best in Edinburgh!

My daughters treated me to an afternoon tea at the Dome….which we were so looking forward to…..on arriving we were shown to our seat by a pleasant young man. We were then asked what kind of scone would we like I.e. fruit or plain….which we never thought about at the time. We then got our glass of champagne which was an extra fee….NOT..champagne it was Cava…..anyway we didn’t query as we were looking forward to our afternoon tea. The cake stand looked so bare and the cakes certainly were nothing like shown on this page. I then had the sandwiches which were lovely. I then went to eat eat my scone …..but the knife couldn’t go through it as it was so hard….I then asked the waiter for another one and showed him the crumbly scone which he touched and said it was hard. He the brought another one (which took about 10 minutes to bring) we then thought they are frozen and taken out to heat before serving….that’s why we were asked what kind we wanted. They were obviously taken out by order of preference….Again same thing happened the scone crumbled as I tried to cut in half. I asked to speak to the manager who then told me they were baked that morning!!!!!no way they were brick hard. Anyway she deducted one afternoon tea of the bill, which was ok…but to be honest it wasn’t about getting a free afternoon tea it was thfact it was my birthday and my daughters were so disappointed for me. By the way they’re scones were tasteless…..so The Dome…..get decent scones that loook like scones and make your cake stand more inviting and you wouldn’t get bad feedback from customers.

Booked afternoon tea for myself and my daughter. The surroundings are wonderful and staff great but the afternoon tea itself was a disappointment. It’s not cheap at £27 each and both being vegetarian we felt quite cheated in what we received. In todays world there are lots of vegetarian alternatives and we had the usual egg mayonnaise, cheese and chutney and an odd sandwich of sliced peppers with hummus. Only 3 finger sandwiches and a small mushroom sausage roll type thing .The scone was lovely but the cakes and pastries were a real let down. When you go for afternoon tea the cakes and pastries are usually the thing that sells it and are something special. The other diners had lovely offerings of carrot cake, chocolate patisserie, macarons and cheese cake whilst we had 3 types of sponge cake which were really plain and boring!! In this day and age if you use gelatine in anything there are great vegetarian alternatives so feel that this could have easily been far better. The final point was that on booking we had to pay a £20 deposit but this wasn’t taken off the bill at the end and thankfully I checked before paying. I did feel that it lacked being something special and did pas on some feedback re the vegetarian offerings. I did receive a reply offering a 10% discount on a future booking but sadly I wouldn’t return as I feel it was overpriced for what was served. There are better afternoon teas in Edinburgh

The Georgian Tea Room at the Dome is a beautiful space within elegant surroundings. The tea is a standard 3 tier affair with a mix of sandwiches, scones and small cakes of a decent quality, but not the best we've had. There is a wide selection of interesting teas to choose from and you can add a glass of bubbly. The service was friendly and attentive, though once we'd been served it was a little hard to get someone's attention for a top up of hot water or any other requests. A very nice experience. You have to pay a deposit at the time of booking and our slot was only for two hours, but we never felt rushed.

It was my first time visiting the Georgian tearoom at the dome and it was so lovely, the staff were so friendly and i just loved the decor. The food was amazing too highly recommended to anyone.

Service was very poor which is disappointing as it is a beautiful venue. Unfortunately we thought it was the worst afternoon tea that we had. Would not recommend. We have been previously for dinner in the grill room, this is a totally different experience.

I love trying a new brew and there are quite a few at this tea shop that I hadn't had before. The place was peaceful and I didn't feel rushed to have my cuppa and leave. I love the mural on wall too!

One of my friends I was traveling with to Edinburgh wanted to go to tea here. While the room was beautiful, the servers seemed bored and unengaged - never checked on us - maybe because we were not locals? then seemed irritated that we wanted to have separate checks Some of the sandwiches were borderline stale - like they had been sitting in a refrigerator uncovered for a long time while a few of the others were good Pastries were average but one of our friends who is a vegetarian was glad to have the option, but her food had the same issues.... trying to get a taxi or uber was a pain.... Wouldn't discourage anyone from going, but wouldn't recommend

Very disappointing. Was recommended by some friends that had wanted to have tea there last month. Service was rushed and then never returned to check on anything. Filling in tea sandwiches was almost non existent, beef was very tough. Smoked salmon was nice just needed a bit more in the roll. Scone was average and felt like it was just out of the fridge. Clotted cream and jam were delicious but nothing to really have them with. One can do better than this place for afternoon tea. Restaurant downstairs looked like a better option.

This was such a lovely experience! The food was fabulous and abundant! Be sure to make reservations, though. A definite highlight of our trip.

The sandwiches must be prepared early in the day as the bread was stale. The sweet options are perfect if your only requirement is sugar as there was no flavour. One guest had the vegan option which was better on the sandwich front but the scone was tiny in comparison to mine. Again the sweet option is great if you are only looking for a sugar taste. The lemon tart was pretty much a biscuit with a scraping of lemon curd. Definitely not value for money. I would say that the surroundings and service make up for the cheap and nasty food but the service was not great, eye rolling obviously a prerequisite if you dare to ask for more tea! Also got the scone request wrong, had requested 3 fruit but we received 2 and one plain. If you want a great afternoon tea go to Gleneagles.

Loved our vegetarian sandwiches on the tea trays, and my teenagers loved the tropical punch tea. The sweets were not delicious per our favorite sweet places in the US, but fine. Did feel fancy and liked the staff's willingness to explain!

We had a lovely afternoon tea as a belated 40th for my husband. We were with our 3 kids who were made very welcome. The food was delicious and the setting was amazing. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

The tea rooms are on the first floor of The Dome . Very nice ambience - tables all with quality white linen, beautiful silver tea service and China and good service from the smartly dressed staff. Food is good but not great. Sandwiches are fairly standard , scones were probably the star - very light and tasty , but quite wee ! Cakes - didn't like the mini cheesecake- weird texture- macaroons were lovely. Would I go back ? Yes as it was overall very enjoyable. Not too expensive either compared to other places.

The Georgian Tea Room is located within the opulently elegant The Dome in central Edinburgh. My sister and I did not have a reservation but were seated as walk-ins. Tea was great and the food was all delicious [they have vegetarian options!]. Overall, would definitely recommend the afternoon tea experience!

We had breakfast there once. The atmosphere is great, like being in a gangster movie with the accompanying jazz music. The food was excellent. I had a full scottish breakfast of which every piece was very good.

First of all, the decor in this place is crazy fancy and classy. It's awesome.I loved all the sandwiches and snacks brought out with high tea. They also have a good selection of teas, I enjoyed the lemon and ginger. The scones and macaroons were both especially a treat. Don't expect a really full meal but it's a great tea.

We booked the Georgian tea room thinking it was inside the dome which we walked directly inside to find out he tea room is upstairs. It was alright but inside the dome was reallly pretty!! Tea was 18.50/pax, child option was 10/pax but we ordered 2 adults which was more than enough and we could not even finish and had to take away. (Yes, they allow you to take away) Overloaded with sweets! (2 tier sweets, 1 tier savoury!)Ps- the teapot is superbly hot!! Supposed to be that way as we asked. Be careful. Overall, good experience!

I enjoyed afternoon tea at the Dome with my mother. I had the vegan afternoon tea and I was positively surprised, the sandwiches I had looked much more delicious than those that my mother had (she had the "normal" afternoon tea). The Georgian Tea Room where we had our afternoon tea is beautiful, the decorations are quite impressive! This place is definitely worth a visit!

The sandwiches, scones and cakes were all excellent. The surroundings are beautiful. Service outstanding - I think our waiter was called Lee. He was very attentive, as was the other gentleman who replenished out teapots several times. It’s just an all round great place to visit.

We visited the The Georgian Tea Room at The Dome for afternoon tea and it may just have been the highlight of our trip!!! The room was elegant and it felt like a very luxurious treat! My teenage daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I felt that the price was reasonable and the service was exceptional. If you're visiting the UK and want to have an afternoon enjoying tea we couldn't recommend this place more!

This was a treat to have a classic afternoon tea at The Georgian Tea Room. We were treated like royalty and everything was delicious. The environment was relaxing and beautiful.

We had the afternoon tea and loved it. The prices for similar teas in London were double and triple. The selection was varied, several fruit and herb tea options. The food trays were pleasant. But the environment is perfect. The dome is classic in design and style. We didn't have a window view, since we had no reservation. But that was fine, since we didn't need a reservation (another advantage to us). My daughter and I could have stayed for much longer (the husband and son wanted to move on after an hour or so). The service was wonderful and attentive. The food served with tea is fairly typical though the selection of sandwiches that day didn't include cucumber (not complaining, we weren't especially interested in them, though you could probably request them as the server asks ahead of time if you approve of the sandwich choices)

Vor allem konnte man sich während der ganzen Teezeremonie Zeit lassen.Es gab eine große Auswahl an verschiedenen Teesorten, der auch kostenlos wieder aufgefüllt wurde.Das Gebäck zum Tee war ausnahmslos sehr lecker. Wir hätten vermutlich noch weiter Essen können. ;) Der Preis für den Afternoon Tea war nicht zu teuer, sondern vollkommen angemessen.Es war ein gemütlicher Nachmittag.

We were left somewhat disappointed after leaving the dome. The best thing about it was the structure of the building and the decor. The cakes were dense and the scones were dry, it all reeked of being pre-made and had been left sitting a while. The jam was nice though, and our mojito tea wasn't bad. Your paying for the venue, certainly not the quality! Definitely will not return here for afternoon tea, especially when there are much better options in Edinburgh.

Visited recently for afternoon tea, having booked online. Greeted promptly upon arrival and shown to table. Waiter was attentive but not overbearing. Good choice of teas and sandwiches and cakes were all delicious. Not rushed away when had finished eating either, a very enjoyable experience.

My elder daughter took me today for Mother's Day afternoon tea. Wonderful from start to finish. Building is beautiful. Staff give a great welcome and service throughout service. The food was exquisite and so nice to eat and drink off and out of good quality crockery. Very good value. Even brought some of the delicious cakes home in a box and enjoyed them later.
