Had a great meal here. Mussels in many different varieties, we chose blue cheese. Especially really tasty oysters.

Excellent way to eat fish in Edinburgh, especially if you are open to tasting dishes slightly different from the Mediterranean and traditional ones. Right quality/price ratio. Good service, nice place. I would have also given 5 stars even if it was a full 4.5, but I penalize it because we agreed with the waiter to order a second time, while when it was time to do so he told us that the kitchen had just closed, without notifying us first.

The food was absolutely delicious — we only wish we had more room to try everything on the menu! Our server, Reya, was incredibly kind. She didn’t know about our dietary restrictions, so she carefully explained the ingredients in the dish we were considering and even asked if we would be comfortable ordering it. That level of care meant a lot to us.

The best mussels I've ever eaten! It is appreciated that the waitresses, without being Spanish, make an effort to speak Spanish. Super recommended!

Mis padres vinieron aquí el martes y les encantó tanto que los cuatro vinimos el miércoles para nuestra última noche juntos en Edimburgo. Fue una gran experiencia. La comida y el servicio eran perfectos. No revisaré cada artículo que pedimos, pero la comida para mariscos fue una de las mejores que he tenido, llena de mariscos y sabor sin sentirme demasiado pesada. Y el pudín de dátiles de caramelo estaba delicioso, ¡podría haber comido dos de ellos yo sola! Si alguna vez estoy de vuelta en Edimburgo, me encantaría volver a probar otros elementos en el menú.

Very delicious sea food! Highly recommended. Especially the mussels in garlic white-wine cream sauce were delicious. We loved the wine and the tiger prawn, very nice. The Moroccan mussels were also good, however compared to the other I liked them the cream mussels much more. The prices are absolutely fair. All in all, I would definitely come again.

Esta fue otra visita a uno de nuestros lugares favoritos y no decepcionó! Los entrantes de cebo blanco, hojas de ensalada con sriracha mayo y gambas tigre y gambas tigre con puré de coliflor con una reducción balsámica y panko y miga de chorizo fueron porciones maravillosas y muy generosas. Mains de sus excelentes mejillones (queso azul y tocino para mí, salsa de pimiento rojo para ella) , con pan para sostener esas deliciosas salsas y un lado de patatas fritas crujientes nos recordaron por qué nos encanta venir al Mussel Inn. Por favor, traiga de vuelta el cebo blanco al menú regular - quedé encantado cuando estaban en el tablero de ofertas! Tenía un concierto para asistir, así que no tenía tiempo para el postre desafortunadamente. Volveré.

Great food, great mussels (to be expected), great champagne. Chowder was perhaps a little too creamy but don't let me put you off, still very enjoyable indeed. Tiger prawn stir fry was slightly lacking something perhaps, but still enjoyable. Orange chocolate tart delicious. Great space and atmosphere, had a wonderfully relaxing evening. Recommended and will definitely visit again when next in Edinburgh.

Nice spot in the old town in Edinburgh. They have huge variaty of mussels pots and fish dishes. We tried 2 appetizers, 2 half a kilos mussel pots (the one with apple smoked cheese were amazing) a bottle of wine a 2 desserts. Overall a really nice dinner

I had my usual Moroccan mussels but my wife had Sea Trout with asparagus risotto with some mussels. Wow chef, I hate risotto and am the customer from h@ll on fish. The dish was brilliant 10/10, go Michelin. Perhaps not keep doing good food.

Fab restaurant! We opted to try everything so our bill was slightly higher, but in general a very affordable place to eat with extremely high quality seafood. We had the scallops & black pudding and smoked salmon starters, as well as 3 oysters - all delicious! Then we had a 1/2 kilo of the mussels in blue cheese, and a 1/2 kilo of the Moroccan mussels as well - again all delicious! Shout out to our waitress Reya who was lovely and super friendly, and even put up with our questions and how many mussels they sell per day (upwards of 5000 if you were wondering). If you’re looking for seafood in Edinburgh no need to go anywhere else!

Seafood Chowder was delicious, we ordered 1/2 Shallot Mussel pot, I think it was too much. We even mistakenly thought it was a full portion. The main course of the day was also delicious. We made the reservation 1 and a half hours later on the same day and went. The employees were polite, the service was fast and the food was delicious and worth the money.

If you want to eat local fish...this is your place, abundant, quality food at a normal price, for Edinburgh. The mussels, we tried two types, one amazing. The two girls who speak Spanish are also charming. 100% recommended.

We were in Edinburgh for the rugby match of Italy for Six Nations 2025. We passed by this restaurant on friday evening and booked a table for 3 on Saturday. The whole experience was great and the food was great as well. A place to pay a visit again next time we will be back.

As always the mussel inn is my favourite go to in Edinburgh and was there this past weekend . After a couple days I thought I needed to clarify with the young tall waitress that decided she no longer wanted to serve us because I asked for bottled water. I have ADPKD which causes me to require drinking 4-6 litre's of water per day. As there is chlorine disinfectant used in Scottish water, that can cause me to lose kidney function and as I am down 30% already, I remain vigilante . I also have very low serum sodium so it is important to have extra minerals in the water to make up for what I lose by drinking so much water daily. It was very clear that she was offended by my asking to not drink tap water. I have a well at home and always drink tap water and prefer it to bottled water. However raised in Ontario Canada , and having public water with chlorine disinfectant , I can taste it right away. I am sorry if your feelings were hurt but my kidney health takes precedence over your feelings in my opinion. I did want to clarify though as you just don’t know anyone’s story and in my opinion your assumption affected your day in a negative way.

Everything is very good, the place is too heated, and the tables are crowded together... timed reservation which can work if there are two of you, if in company it could become annoying

I made a reservation and went. I had half mussel pot, pasta, and sea bass with Moroccan flavor. Please be kind to the staff. Be sure to sprinkle some lemon around the cilantro when eating pasta. I had a hard time because I didn't like European food, but it really saved me. (If you don't like cilantro, you won't like it... I personally think it's a kick because it has a greasy taste.) I think you can order half the mussel pot. Even though the two of us ate, we were still very full. The Moroccan flavor is spicy and delicious with ginger and pepper. Totally Korean taste!! Highly recommended

I had a holidays with my friend and suddenly met this place. Absolutely incredible. Beautiful atmosphere. Amazing staff with very friendly.Mario you’re the best buddy. Good place for dinner, they are friendly, it is not very expensive and the food is good, basically it is seafood, mussels, salmon, shrimp nuddels and things like that. I recommend it

The food was amazing. We had seafood chowder, natural mussel, shellfish pasta, and tiger prawns. The servers were lovely as well. So glad we walkin and get a table without waiting because we went there quite late, I'd recommend getting a reservation just in case as they were quite full when we went. Highly recommend to come!!

Our two starters were unfortunately very average, the seafood chowder was best described as a potato chowder, and had to be sent back as it was lukewarm when served, My spicy octopus starter was a little bland but ok. Things improved with the mussels with blue cheese and bacon, which were juicy and beautifully cooked, ideal with bread for a main course. My shellfish pasta was excellent, plenty of shellfish, a beautiful creamy seafood sauce, and all served piping hot. The Chilean Sauvignon Blanc was good, and reasonably priced, and the service was very good. I don’t like the idea of adding a 10% optional service charge already added to your bill when it’s presented, but it seems to be becoming the norm now. Upon asking, it was removed without argument, and we tipped our server cash directly with cash.

The taste is poor and the mussel meat is small in size. Crab braised pasta is fishy.

The seafood is very fresh and the salmon is amazing😋The dessert combination is so delicious, the hot chocolate filling of the brownie is combined with the ice-cold vanilla ice cream, plus the unique caramel juice, highly recommended🤩

Located in Rose Street, a few steps from Scott Monument, it is a fairly modern and bright environment. The staff is skilled, courteous, fast and caring towards the customer. I tasted the Seafood Chowder and I found it well prepared, with a right balance between sweetness and flavor. Mussel Pots are served in hot pots (be very careful) to keep the mussel temperature for a long time. I tasted the mussels with Blue Cheese and Bacon ("monstrous" combination for many Italians) and they were excellent. Remember to look for the dispersed bacon in the sauce. Excellent desserts and beers selection. I must confess that Mussel-Inn is my favorite fish restaurant in Edinburgh, especially for the quality-price ratio.

If you want to eat seafood and mussels in Edinburgh city center, this is the place for you. In a 6 days stay in the city, we went there 2 times. Food was really amazing.

Very nice place, super friendly and smiling staff. The food was great! There are various food options of the day and then the various dishes. Their highlight is the mussels, there are both natural (delicious! Eaten like this only made by my mother) and seasoned mussels. The prices are quite high, a plate of pasta €35, the portions are normal. The mussels are served in pots and you can take either 1kg (whole portion) or half a kg. For a starter we took a dish of the day which included two cuttlefish with salad and to conclude we took a delicious chocolate and orange dessert. The place is romantic, with atmosphere.

I went with my friends on New Year’s Day, and the food was amazing. I had two plates of oysters! Everyone had a great time and was really happy.

Went there for lunch by recommendation and we were not disappointed! Food was absolutely delicious, and staff friendly. Interior not very cosy though. If you like fish, or even not, you will after visiting this great restaurant!

The seafood is ok but not the best in town, while the price is a bit expensive. A small restaurant needed reservation or else you won’t get a seat.

First time trying out this restaurant and it did not dissapoint, everything from the customer service to the food was fantastic. I'd definetly recommend and will be back!

Price is reasonable and the food portion is okay. But the taste of food is just okay. The mussel pot is good, but the mussels are quite slim. It would be better to change the type of mussels. The shellfish pasta is good as well. But i think it is not flavourful enough. Maybe make it a little bit more creamier? But The seafood is fresh. The grilled tuna steak special are too thin, too dry. It would be better if a thicker, fatter tuna steak is used. It just taste like a normal grilled fish. The atmosphere is good, staff is friendly. Still worth going to have a seafood dinner.

The mussels very the best we have ever eaten. According to the menu, they came from the Shetland Islands. They were fat, juicy and fresh, even the smaller ones. The Chowder soup was delicious too and had lots of fishy flavour. Fully enjoyed the meal.

Mussel Inn is one of the few restaurants that I have returned to many times and always been impressed. Today we all enjoyed our mussels, chips and bread. Mussels were delicious and clearly fresh. It’s nice to have the option for the 1/2 kilo pot and as you pick what sides you want, it can be an inexpensive meal - if you don’t add on a large glass of the excellent Muscadet ! Service was friendly and efficient and we will definitely be back.

it is delicious! Even though I don't really like mussels, it was delicious. Be sure to order the pasta and shallot pot. I don't regret it. Instead, don't order the clam chowder. It tastes strange.. haha ​​The female servers are friendly, but the male servers are not so good.

The pasta comes with some minced crab meat. The seafood fried fish is well done and the sauce has a taste that I have never tasted before.

Visited this evening and had the most amazing seafood linguine. The restaurant had the most lovely atmosphere and the staff were so friendly. Would definitely visit again if coming to Edinburgh

The most incredible seafood. Beautiful flavours and fab menu. I chose the seafood platter and it was fantastic and so fresh. We could see the chef cooking and he made each table’s order rather than bulk cooking and you could see his skill. Also fab to see the restaurant completely full on a Monday night.

When I was there, everything was OK but the night I had a really strong sickness and it was food poisoning because of the muscles. That was really hardest night of my life. I had really bad diarrhea and sickness. I couldn’t even drink a sip of water. I am vomiting everything that I try to eat and drink.I am in holiday here but because of this situation, I had really bad time and I spended my whole day in the room, wasted one day already.

The staff was very helpful and kind. The service was great and they brought us food really quickly. The food was delicious.🤤 I really enjoyed the meal. The atmosphere was cosy and nice. I recommend to anyone who likes seafood. You will leave the restaurant loving seafood!

Excellent food and service. Great cocktails

Visited 17th November 2024. The place was buzzing with the energy and I couldn’t help but to notice that almost 75% of the customers were from east Asia. Tried their blue cheese mussels pot (ordered half pot for two and it was enough to have a first try, portion was good). And then ordered for mains, risotto with catch of the day and seafood pasta. Both were equally good but enjoyed the seafood pasta more. The staff is extremely polite and girl handling the bar, allocating table and managing the customers, was doing brilliant multitasking.

Lovely and fresh seafood. We ordered a big pot of white wine mussel, seafood pasta, grilled squid, and a basket of bread. All the dishes was very good, but the best one is seafood pasta, so creamy and delicious

Was recommended by a colleague, and it was so good I sent them a photo between courses to make them jealous! Excellent seafood of all types, and the mussels really were brilliant, I’d definitely go again if I’m lucky enough to be back in Edinburgh. And yes we had Irn Bru, haven’t had it in years, a very nostalgic treat😊

Got the scallops starter, which was nice but nothing special for the price. We had to wait at least 20-25 minutes for our main mussels to come as they forgot about it. Which was fine as they didn't charge for the bread. Probably, they were in a hurry when making our mains as we felt it was not a proper full portion of mussels , we were a bit disappointed, actually. We would have not been annoyed by the described situation, but after asking for the bill, they put a 10%service charge on. I'm normally OK with service charge but after watching the most demoralised staff I've seen in a while for more than 2 hours and forgetting our mains we felt like it's a bit cheeky to put that SC on. Food was OK but nothing special, you'd probably get this food for cheaper and with better service somewhere else in town. We will not be rushed to be back.

I was with my friends and the food was okay but the service was terrible we were served buy a young girl called Anna she was very rude and very impatient when taking our order she was just full of attitude and made us feel rushed normally I don’t complain but my mother was is a few days ago and had the same problem

We met with friends for lunch at the Mussel Inn with the promise of fresh seafood on the menu, the clue is in the name I guess, and we were not disappointed! After a light starter of perfectly cooked scallops, paired with black pudding and pea shoots, my partner and I opted for the kilo pot of Shallot Mussels each, some crusty bread and a side of chips. These were the plumpest, freshest mussels I have had in an age, and I barely came up for breath. We were told by our server that they are brought in daily with a 6am delivery. Talking of the server, what great service we were given. The right balance of friendly and formal, efficient and attentive. So, a perfect lunch for me, thank you, and the only critical remark I can make is - sort your seating out. Although I’m sure it was really good for my posture, the very upright seating in the booth did not make a comfortable setting for me. Still worth 5 stars though, if only for those amazing mussels!!

When friends heard that we were going to Edinburgh for holidays, they strongly recommended that we pay a visit to Mussel Inn for a meal. We were surprised that the restaurant was packed when we arrived for dinner. We were also surprised that the majority of the diners were Asians. We ordered, among others, mussel pots, seafood chowder and seafood platter. The seafood platter was really excellent. Packed with goodies, it was delicious. Those who ordered the mussel pots also said that it was good.

Ordered 3 chilled oysters and 1 pot of shallot mussels. Both are fresh and delicious, especially the mussels. I would definitely recommend them. I was disappointed that the mussel pot doesn't come with bread anymore but after finishing the pot, I was full! Still, it would be nice if it can be accompanied by 2 pieces of bread, for the broth.

It was a nice experience. The soup was delicious and the pasta had orders that I had not imagined, but overall it was delicious. We came for the lobster, but at the time it was sincere and the oysters were delicious. He ordered it, but we are not hungry for oysters, and the service is good. It is special about them that they close late compared to other restaurants in Edinburgh.

While looking for a seafood restaurant, I found it, made a reservation, and visited. I highly recommend making a reservation. The taste was truly a work of art. Such slimy mussels! The pasta was truly delicious. The staff was also very friendly. Is this the entrance to the store...? The entrance is right where you want to be, so go in with confidence.

Sito in Rose street, una strada davvero molto carina piena di ristoranti. Ci hanno fatto accomodare anche senza prenotazione. Il mio compagno ha preso il kg di cozze che arriva in una pentola, io ho preso della pasta con i frutti di mare. La pasta non era buona. Scotta e con un sugo non buono. Probabilmente ho sbagliato io a prenderlo. Le cozze invece erano molto buone, consiglio comunque una visita.

This is a recommended restaurant if you want to eat lots of mussels. It's a blissful moment when you devour the abundance of mussels in the pot while dipping the baguette in the soup made with mussel stock. Unlike the mussels you can buy at supermarkets, they are large, plump, and very delicious. Mussels are also available in half sizes. I like Charlotte, but all flavors are good. The customer service from the very friendly female staff is also great. Advance reservations are required as it is always crowded. Recommended!!

As expected, the food was delicious and I was able to eat comfortably as scheduled. I plan to visit again on my next trip.

Food was ok, but very small portions. Servers were happy to help at first then was like screw you. Frustrated when asked to remove something we didn't get and when asked to take the 10% service fee off. Very bad experience since it was our anniversary. Also most expensive meal we had in Edinburgh.
