The George Steakhouse in Windsor and Maidenhead

Me and my wife tried the George for the first time tonight and were very impressed. The service is fantastic but the highlight is the quality of the steak they serve, I had the 8oz rump, it was delicious and melts in your mouth. We will definitely return as they serve the best steak in the area.

Great place, lovely atmosphere and great playlist ! Service was good with lovely friendly staff, a few things need fine tuning. Starters were really good and tasty. We had to wait quite a while for cutlery when our mains came up and where sat on the table. Two of us had steak which had an amazing flavour, but sadly not very hot. Not sure if because we sat waiting for cutlery or whether it wasn’t under a hot plate when resting. I had a flavoured butter which didn’t melt! Churros was lovely, I’d prefer a choice of sauces, Dulce de Leche ! I’d go again as might have been a one off and the food was really good, with lovely staff.

Had a fantastic evening! The service was exceptional (Chloe absolutely bossed it!), the food was incredible and the chatty vibes were flowing. Great place to go for all steak fiends.

Visited for the first time with a friend for a highly anticipated meal out at this relatively new Steakhouse. Service was fast and friendly from the start. The entire menu is on the rather steep side, it was expensive even for steak. Started with a bruschetta which was very flavorful and well presented. £39 fillet steak was good but definitely not the quality prime cut one would expect for such a price. Steak tasted good and was well cooked medium-rare, albeit slightly tougher than I would've liked. I would also have expected a bit more sauce to be served with it, considering the price. The fries were good and their portion size was decent. The steak was also served with a house salad, which is in fact not a salad, but a few small quartered lettuce leaves topped with some tomato and onion mixture which appeared to be the same as the bruschetta topping. For dessert I opted for the banana split which was presented in the rather unorthodox way of having its skin still on. I think this was the first time I had been served a banana split with the peel still on - something else which I find bizarre considering the price. Overall the food was nice but nothing special, and definitely not worth the hefty price tag, so unfortunately it really isn't good value. It seems they have gone for a sort of upmarket feel with their atmosphere and pricing, but this is unfortunately not reflected in the food. The restaurant was incredibly quiet, but I suppose that could be down to it being a Tuesday in January.

As always we were very well looked after at the George. The food was excellent. I enjoyed the burger, which was very good quality, and my husband throughly enjoyed his steak, which he also said was a very high standard. We had great service, the staff were very friendly and attentive, and went to a lot of trouble to meet our requests. It was very comfortable and warm, with a bit of non instrusive background music and plenty of atmosphere. I highly recommend the George Steakhouse.

Our meal for four was somewhat disappointing overall. The soup (leek and potato) was thin and didn't have much taste (I assumed it was watered down) and the so called 'sourdough' bread was square, thin and in no way an artesian bread. The prawn cocktail my wife had was lovely though. My main (prawn linguine) was tasty but was a small portion. My wife received the wrong burger option but decided to stay with it so we and our guests could all eat together. The staff were very good. Professional, friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was very pleasant. The prices are a little high and the quality of the food does not match the prices. So, overall not as good as I had hoped. I wouldn't recommend and sadly, I am unlikely to return.

Lovely place,nice atmosphere and friendly attentive staff. We ordered pasta and risotto, both were big portions and nicely flavoured.

We had a wonderful lunch at The George Steakhouse, didn't sample the steak but the menu has a good variety of choices. Food was really yummy and the layout, cutlery, glasses, napkins all made us feel we were dining five star. Staff were so friendly and helpful, thank you. We've already booked a table for our next visit!

Good menu, more varied than the name suggests. Between us we had chateaubriand steak, lamb, halloumi and mushroom burger, chicken burger. All were excellent. The steak and lamb were cooked exactly as requested. Chunky chips and sweet potato chips got a big thumbs up from the teenagers. Only downside was the side of tenderstem broccoli with chilli - it was normal broccoli with far too much chilli. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will definitely eat here again.

We popped in here for an unscheduled lunch today (Saturday). The George is well presented from both the outside and inside. We were made to feel very welcome by all members of staff. We ordered a garlicky starter of cheesy garlic bread and garlic mushrooms. Mains were steak salad and bacon cheeseburger with fries and onion rings. Food was very nice, but the restaurant is delightful. We came to view a house here so this may end up as our local!

We had been to this pub years ago but I noticed the change to a steak house and we thought we would try it out. I'm so pleased we did - excellent service, melt in the mouth steaks, an interesting menu, and nice surroundings. I'm only sad that there were not that many people there on the bank holiday Monday we had lunch. I'm hoping it filled up later as it really deserves to do well.

We have visited The George many times previously before the change to a Steakhouse and have always had fabulous food and excellent service, however the change to a Steakhouse has taken the experience to an even greater level, I had a fillet steak, my goodness it was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection, then indulged in the churros as my dessert, my oh my, yummy. The whole team who looked after us could not have been attentive or happier, it really was a fantastic evening and I really can't wait to return. Thank you for a lovely time.
