What a lovely pub. Staff were so nice and helpful. Food was excellent, it was hot to the table which in our experience that doesn't happen very often., also very good food. Will definitely go back .

Recently under New management we visited for Sunday lunch. Fantastic food. Really good service in a beautiful part of the South downs. Loads of good walks around. Definitely visiting again soon.

There are quite a few cosy places to sit in this pub. It has character, and the staff are friendly.

First time in this little gem of a Pub. Have been past this place many a time and have never thought of popping in until today. Why did I wait so long lol. Beautiful inside with very attentive and friendly Staff. Food was fantastic and Drinks perfect. We will be back and thank you. Highly recommended!!!!

Pub has changed so much the bar staff are great the atmosphere is excellent it's exactly how a local pub should be. Stand out bar staff is hard to pick, they are all so good.

Great guinness, historic pub, very clean, cosy, modern with a nod to the past. Good food. Wings are very nice along with burgers. Good mixture of people, nice outdoor section with huts and heaters. Very helpful and friendly staff. Parking available £1 an hour or validation inside. Reasonable costs as well which is always good.

Last weekend, my wife and I decided to enjoy a meal at our local pub, and it turned out to be a wonderful experience! The warm, welcoming atmosphere was matched by the friendliness of the staff, who made us feel right at home. For our meal, we ordered classic pub fare: fish and chips for me and sausages and mash for my wife. Both dishes were simply delicious. The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside, paired with golden, fluffy chips. The sausages were hearty and flavorful, complemented by creamy, buttery mashed potatoes and a rich gravy that tied everything together. The service was impeccable, with the staff attentive without being intrusive. Drinks were served promptly, and the entire dining experience was smooth and enjoyable. Overall, we left with full stomachs and happy hearts. We'll definitely be back for another relaxing evening at this gem of a pub!

Please save your money, food was overcooked and chewy, overpriced for something that tasted microwaved.

Went to a music event so really good atmosphere. Satvat bar to get served for ages, apparently they thought someone else was buying my drink as I was in a wheelchair! The only food on offer was friend and greasy

Nice traditional pub generally but on this occasion the food was almost inedible. Tasteless, soggy, greasy fish and chips. The worst I have had in a long time. I won't eat there again.

The atmosphere was great, food and drink were excellent. Loved the entertainment, which was Tom Carradine's Sing along. The only negative thing was the seating. I ordered at table for the show and hoping to eat and watch the show but we were placed right in the corner at the back.

Still a great pub! Lovely experience here. I work nearby and often come after work for some wine and a bite and am always pleased by the service. The staff are always polite and friendly and food always perfect. Tonight I was served by Tillie and Nillson, all up held the same amazing service!! My favourite pub despite not being my local I always return! Definitely recommend for any group of people. Always happy :)

Just stopped here for an after dinner drink. It's a lovely traditional pub. The prices are reasonable for the area. They have a large outside area and a decent amount of seating inside. They do good however I didn't try this. It's a little dark inside but overall a nice atmosphere. I would recommend visiting!

Decent Saturday lunch date. We've just moved to Beckenham and we'll come here again :) The best thing about this place is the staff. Warm, proactive and eager to please, they made us feel very welcome and couldn't do enough for us. The atmosphere is overall, very nice. The building itself is a beautiful, classic old town public house. The fruit machine and the slightly tacky decorations (sorry... I'm sure many others enjoy them but not for me) mar what is otherwise a gorgeous rustic aesthetic. The food lets the place down a bit. Don't get me wrong - it's fine and good value for money. The menu does give you a great variety of choices. £11 for burger and chips these days is good, especially in London. However, from a well established, independent pub that offers four different burger options I'd expect something special. Cheese and bacon burger: The "brioche-style" burger bun is a non-brioche toasted bun. Brioche would've lifted it, whereas the result here is the burger seems dry. The patty looks to have been frozen and the lettuce and burger sauce have a school dinner/supermarket feel about them. Fair play to The George for being reasonably priced, but they could consider raising the bar a bit. I'd happily pay £3 more for a juicy fresh burger with a brioche bun. The Hallumi fries and onion rings are okay, again pretty bog standard and varying between juicy and dry, but for the price they're okay. Food overall just a notch above Wetherspoons. The drink selection is good. I was boring and had a Brewdog on tap, next time will sample the ales. 4/5 - a decent lunch date. Interested to see how the atmosphere is in the evening.
