By far my favourite pub. Still traditional with a brilliant selection of ales.

The best local to go to. Always a good no of beers on offer. Very much a traditional type of pub no silly gimmicks

Decent beer and service as always but food prices have gone up by about 20% over the past 6 months or so! So it's now a takeaway on the way home!

Nice bar a little slow to serve as regulars were served first.

Lovely old pub. Staff were a bit dismissive and we felt like we were intruding. Not surprised it was so quiet.

I arrived from out of town and was delighted by the bartender Karl, who was truly exceptional. He made us feel incredibly welcome, and his knowledge about the pub was impressive. We had a great chat for about an hour, and his friendliness was unmatched. I'll definitely be returning in the future.

Great Pub, felt very warm and welcoming landlady was extremely cheerful and greeted us as soon as we walked in, great beer and 7 different ales to choose from! Pub is clean and tidy as well as great decor. Staff were friendly and polite at all times (especially when I couldn’t find the toilets 😂) they’ve also got a young Patrick Swayze working there!

Hey everyone, I recently visited the George Inn and wanted to share my thoughts. While the atmosphere was nice and the staff were friendly, I did feel a bit uncomfortable when some people made comments about my 2004 Fiat Punto. It's always important to treat everyone with respect, regardless of their car. On another note, the menu had a lot of chips, which might be great for some, but I was hoping for a wider variety of options. Overall, it was an okay experience, but I hope they consider diversifying their menu and promoting inclusivity. Also the location is nice. i went to the burger van after for a hot chocolate. chips galore in here

Lovely pub. Used it many times. Was my old local. Used to live just down the road from it in the 1980s. Downside of pub is it's pricey for drinks. Still a nice place for a drink. Dogs are welcome too.

I am a medical cannabis user, the landlady was sooo rude shouting at me that I smelt of cannabis after i had just medicated, i was even barred from the pub for ever for a smell. The pub is sooo small i assume only ten people can fit in and the 🍺 tasted quite flat... apart from that and the really busy portsdown hill road thst it sits on, it has a good view from the front of the building but as I wrote its on a very busy main road.

We had a really nice evening , good atmosphere good company and good beer. Staff really friendly which made all the difference.

Recently went in to celebrate after buying a new car. All the bar staff were lovely and happy to chat with me. Great beers including the Flowerpots brewery and, as I've been told, regular guest ales. Will be there again and hoping to make it my regular (when the Mrs allows!)

Have lived in Portsmouth all my life and often driven past The George. Went past today and fancied a pint,so thought i'd pop in. Three young people behind the bar. The girl was friendly enough but the two lads were swearing repeatably and one was particularly obnoxious and rude. Hope the management are aware and review this as I will not be setting foot in there again and would not expect paying customers to put up with that sort of service.

I'm pleasantly surprised, been years since I drank in here. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was comfortable. Great place for a quiet drink.

Lovely little pub that welcomes dogs. This is a great location for a dog walk that concludes with a swift pint. It is warm rustic and friendly - highly recommended.

Not a very friendly pub. The landlady is rude. The glasses are dirty. The pub is very unhygienic Food is not cooked properly personally, I would never go in this pub again. Very clicky pub

A lovely country pub within the city limits - fantastic views, day or night; and very well run.

It's a great wee pub with a lovely atmosphere. Dog friendly and my dog always get lot's of lovely attention. It could do with a better beer, maybe a craft type beer of some description shipyard, punk an IPA.

Very kind staff when I had to walk home from school today which was about 9km and instead of kicking me out let me have some water. Very kind!

Excellent location at Portsdown Hill .Lovely setting inside and out. Very friendly landlord, ample parking, clean and tidy. Will diffently go back there.

We go for live music every other to week ! It's very limited seating but definitely worth a look ! Full of friendly locals !

First time visiting here and won't be the last. My wife said that we should go to the pub and, as we only live in Farlington, The George Inn it was. The views over Portsmouth and towards the Isle of Wight are spectacular. There was water for my dog waiting. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, Thank you.

What a nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon!! The George is nice old fashioned pub top of portsdown hill on the A3. Plenty of real ales to sample in a relaxed atmosphere.

The George Inn, is a traditional oldie worldie compact drinking venue that creates a great environment when it’s busy. I always feel at home at The George and because I live fairly local I normally time an hour long walk over the Portsdown Hill so that I can pop in for a drink and spot of lunch when they open at 12.00. Yes, they do food during lunchtime only and is good quality and sensibly priced.

Hi went to the George Inn for the first time for a long while. Its a lovely old style pub, and the food while limited was good. My brothers & I had the steak & kidney pud. Very tasty. Staff helpful and sorted percolator on so we could have a coffee and had choice of milk and cream. If your looking for a nice quite pub, of a lunchtime to have a chat with friends this fit's the bill.
