The George Inn in Stroud

Can't fault it. Good drinks served quick. Food was brill. Loved my food especially the chunky chips yum. We had salmon and spinach Wellington and chicken stack.

Beer flat and not very nice swapped glass no problem but didn't make the Stella any better biggest problem was the garden 2 boymcy castles free foe the kids great but 1 member of staff bought put food 3 times and not once picked up any glasses or empty plates overall pretty poor when customers have to put empties to other tables to sit down

I had a burger and I thought it was overpriced At the end of the meal we were waiting for them to take our drinks orders for coffee and tea no one turned up

Car-club group of twenty arrived a bit late for a pre-booked Saturday lunch. Busy! Best to book! Comfortable pub atmosphere. Good service, even though the pub was full. Wife and I enjoyed our meals... steak cooked just right, lamb, and best of all, a lovely chocolate bread & butter pudding.

Every meal has been lovely will be there again on Sunday looking forward to it already. Wish they had it during g the week as well

Stayed on campsite at the rear of pub for a week used the bar most evenings for food and drinks,steaks cooked perfectly, we struck lucky as sat evening had a live singer Riccado,we had a wonderful evening,Sunday we had the most amazing carvery,thoroughly reccomend,everything was perfect,beef served pink in the middle,juicy tender pork,plus a great selection of veg,roast and new potatoes,homemade Yorkshire puddings and stuffing and delicious gravy.Will use again when we next in this area

Stayed at the adjacent caravan park. Had one evening meal, drinks and dessert. Beautiful food, great old English inn and great service Would definitely recommend

The worst food ever served. We tried the carvery as soon as it opened. The leeks were stone cold like ice from the freezer. The swede was cold. The whole lunch was inedible. Management should have stopped serving it, given the quality of the chef's offerings. Walked out and obtained a refund which was given freely as the staff were also embarrased by the quality of the food.

So we decided to stop here for a Sunday roast while passing through. We was greeted with lots of smiles when we arrived and was shown to our table in the bar as we had our dog with us. Lovely pub with a warm atmosphere. There was 3 of us and we all ordered a roast, which came out with meat, potatoes, and a parsnip on the plate then as selection of vegtables and cauliflower cheese came out. We was under the understanding we would have a portion for two and a single portion but that wasn’t the case. A small dish came out with 2 florets of broccoli, 5 carrots and a spoonful of green beans along with a separate small bowl of cauliflower cheese. I did ask the waitress for extra veg and she was happy to bring us more. But we noticed to the two tables either side of us one being a single gentleman and the other side being a couple the gentleman on his own had the exact same as us and the couple. Which is completely wrong. It was a lovely roast and the meat was cooked to perfection but they could improve portion size. Also no one came to check if it was all ok despite 2 members of staff behind the bar twiddling their thumbs.

Visited this pub twice whilst staying at ChurchEnd Farm B&B, and cannot fault it in any way. We had Prawn Cocktail and Chicken Strips for starters on the first night both were lovely. Followed Chicken Stack and the pie of the day, these were as good as the starters. On the second visit we both had the 16oz Rump steak, it was lovely and there wasn’t an ounce of fat on it. Can’t speak about the puddings as we didn’t have room, but if they are anything like the food we were served then I’m sure they’re excellent. The service for the two young ladies and young man on our visits was just what we wanted, everything we ask for we received immediately. Will be eating in there again when we come back to the area.

We have had the most fabulous Christmas day at the George. The meal was flawless , the staff were great. Nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be back next year. Thank you to you all . Happy New Year x

Nine of us went to The George for a meal on Saturday 26th May in the evening. The food was great as was the service. Particular mention to the Manager who was excellent.Some of our party ate from the main menu and others ate from the two courses for £10.We ate in the restaurant not the bar. Everyone was impressed by the quality of the food.Great value for money.Well done to all the staff.

We ate here last night, two young ladies behind the bar gave us a warm welcome, there is a good choice of ales/lagers and there is plenty of options on the menu to suit everyone, we had a mixed grill that comes with steak, lamb and pork chop sausage and gammon, with choice of fries or new potatoes, I had a 8 oz rump cooked very well with a nice Stilton sauce, my daughter had Fajitas that comes on a sizzle platter, my wife had egg and beetroot salad, this was the only issue we had that the egg and beetroot were pickled and wasn’t mentioned on the menu, but we had a fine time, the manager is very attentive and extremely friendly, definitely an asset to any pub, thanks for a fab evening, see you soon

Tuesday is steak night, wow two 16oz rump steaks cooked to perfection with drinks for less than £34 can't beat it, thoroughly recommended

Called in today at lunchtime. Found a pleasant table inside. Good menu. I went for a Sunday lunch of roast beef which came with a delicious Yorkshire pudding, fresh veg and cauliflower cheese. My friend chose jacket potato and then enjoyed lemon cheesecake. Very reasonably priced and well presented.

Had two night stay on campsite.. excellent facilities. Had meal in pub, dogs welcome which made it really easy for me to enjoy a meal in the bar area. 2 courses for £10 really good value, excellent meal. Stayed on the last day on campsite at no extra charge. Will definitely be returning

popped in for a snack and a cup of tea. The young lady behind the bar only uses ONE teabag for pot of tea for TWO,! Next time I go in the George I will ask for tea for ONE twice. Been here a few times now and although the dishes can be classed as your average pub grub and edible, a lot less can be said about the dire students utilised to serve them......too busy propping up the bar and gossiping when they can plainly see when a diner is trying to catch their attention for some cutlery. The place could be so much more if a little more effort is applied to provide customer satisfaction.

We passed this pub on the way to Slimbridge Wildfowl Trust and decided to stop for a meal on our way home. We telephoned before going to check the food serving times and were told at this time that they had run out of Sunday roasts but the full menu was available. We appreciated this as if you were going with a roast in mind it avoided disappointment. We had three different meals and all enjoyed them greatly. They were served in a good time, were good portions and hot and tasty. My husbands dish came without it's accompanying wraps and a member of (we presume) management came immediately to apologise that they had run out, that it wasn't acceptable and offered an alternative. When my husband decided he was happy without, a free round of drinks for the table was offered. We felt this was excellent service - mistakes get made, it's how they are dealt with that counts! We had two desserts both of which again were good portions and delicious (the profiteroles are huge!). All of the staff were friendly and helpful. This place does what it says on the tin, it's a friendly country pub serving good pub food,

We dropped in today (Sunday) for a snack and pint. Although they serve a traditional roast, and full menu, they were quite happy to serve us a snack. The staff were very friendly, and the atmosphere most relaxed. You are allowed to take your pet dogs into the part of the bar we were sitting in.

We opted for a Sunday roast but it was rather disappointing. The veg were quite dry but the leg of pork was delicious I must say. The barman was very accommodating with changing our seats and ordering chicken breast rather than half a chicken which we were so appreciative for.

Visited with some friends, nice surroundings however the food left a lot to be desired. Paid £10.95 for a burger and chips which for the extortionate price should have been delicious but unfortunately not. The bun was cheap and too dry to eat, the salad consisted of a single slice of tomato and lettuce leaf while the coleslaw never materialised. Very disappointing and as a student I regret even going as the food was way too expensive. Alright place to go for a drink but wouldn't recommend eating here.
