This comment is from ‘the poor wife’ you patronisingly refer to in your response to our previous feedback. Our ‘FairObservaions’ are joint opinions as I don’t normally feel the need for a separate platform. Let me clarify some of the inaccurate statements in your response to our feedback: At no time did my husband ignore me, on entering the premises, he did ‘wander round the bars’, mainly to see if there was another soul in the eerily empty building. At no time was I ‘in tear’ [sic] as you put it. I was however, extremely annoyed that despite advising us to leave, you would not refund me the cost of my meal or our drinks which were impossible to consume in the hostile atmosphere. I might however have shown signs of ‘in fear’, having just escaped the wrath of ‘Loony’ as my husband rightly calls him (I don’t know which one of you is Yates, maybe that’s you). As for your comment that we left the car park, nearly hitting a white car, I don’t understand, as we arrived and left on foot, our car being at Exton some three miles away. I think it’s probably that you’re confusing us with another disgruntled couple. I now await your characteristic badly written, rude response to this missive about our worse ever dining (or none dining) experience.

We should have read the signs or at least read ‘darren p’s’ feedback before entering ‘The Loony Bin’ AKA ‘The George and Falcon‘. Yes, the empty car park, the empty building, the sign saying no food allowed in the garden for health and safety reasons, the oddball character who finished making himself a cup of tea behind the bar before even looking up at us (there was no greeting) it said it all. We ordered San Miguels and meals. My Beer came with two dog hairs stuck to the rim of the glass and a hint of chemical cleaning fluid flavour. Not wishing to make a fuss I wiped my glass (and my wife’s just to make sure). When the meals arrived, I was served with an odd coloured macaroni cheese. One taste matched it’s awful appearance. I then noticed it contained bacon pieces. Having not eaten meat for fifty years I took it back to the bar stating that I would expect macaroni cheese to be a non meat product and there was no mention of the bacon on the menu. The bartender forcefully stated ‘it’s not up to you what’s in it, it’s up to the chef to add what he likes’. I tried to ‘educate’ this individual about the expectations of a customer when the bartender flipped into lunatic mode and picked up the plate and threw it down in temper, smashing it to pieces with macaroni (and bacon) flying all over the place. ‘Loony’ went into an abusive rant while his cohort made a refund on the mac, I stated to the cohort that ‘Loony’ appeared to have ‘flipped’. ‘That’s nothing’ he said ‘wait till he really flips, it would be safer if you left the building’. To which I asked for a full refund as it was obviously too dangerous for two octogenarians to remain there. The cohort refused this request claiming ‘there was nothing wrong with the other meal’ despite the fact that he’d recommended we leave, thus basically robbing us of £25.00. We decided to leave for our own ‘Health and Safety Reasons’. We saw nobody in The George and Falcon’ with the slightest hint of customer facing skills during our visit. The only plus sign is that ‘Loony’ is due to retire and the premises is up for sale. But as the ‘do as they like staff’ may well be retained, the place is tainted in my view and I will never visit it again.

I’ve addressed your reply. Indeed just a few leaves! Nobody asked what your monthly electric bill is!!! I stated facts the carpark is embarrassingly dirty and for me the food very expensive. Your reply very professional NOT. Absolutely spot on you can get a really nice burger and a pint for less than £11 in Wetherspoons and they don’t go on about the electricity bill. I think you need to go on a course and get yourself some customer service skills you are embarrassing. The problem you’ve got is with an attitude like that I’ve got this feeling you’re going to be very lonely in that big pub. Good luck your going to need it.

Couple, walking the dog along the Meon Valley Trail. Handy location right on the A32 between Fareham and Alton and plenty of parking. Seating inside, in the small garden and on the covered veranda. Dog friendly. Treats on the bar! It’s nice to see this pub back in business but I’m not sure how long it’ll stay that way. We were there at lunchtime on a sunny bank holiday Saturday and the place was nearly empty. There’s a good-sized menu with a nice variety of food and it arrived quickly. However probably not home cooked - we had burgers which comes with chips and salad. The meat burger tasted very basic and not tasty although the veggie burger was nice, probably a Beyond Burger. Chips were a bit dry. Portions were good. Price reasonable - £37 for 2 mains and 2 drinks. Not sure I’d hurry back though.

Whilst housesitting in Hampshire we visited for lunch, at the time we visited it was very quiet probably due to the atrocious weather that morning but the day before there had been 80 motor cycle enthusiasts decend so we had a lucky escape. The gentleman serving was very friendly and chatty and was kind to our dog, although our dog wasn't as friendly and ended up back in the car after one too many growls. The food arrived promptly, hot and tasty, my wife had scampi ,peas and chips and I had the cheese and bacon burger with chips, onion rings and coleslaw, both were good sized portions, there is a beer garden along with a river at the rear of the premises and ample parking, if your driving through the Meon valley I'd happily recommend the George and Falcon at Warnford right on the A32 main road.

This pub was a regular haunt for the senior classic motorcycle enthusiasts until it closed earlier this year. They mostly relocated to the Roebuck Inn a bit further along the A32 towards Fareham. That then closed, so the G&F is in the frame again. Unfortunately the owners and staff appeared to be unprepared for the influx, even though they had been forewarned. Specifically they had no system for ticket numbers or names noted for orders taken and this quickly led to the unravelling of the lunchtime service, with meals coming out at random and inevitably being given to customers who had ordered after the early arrivers. In some cases orders were also lost. Let us hope that they learn from their mistakes!

So here's a great activity. We journeyed to Old Winchester Hill along Hayden Lane to walk our dog. On the way back we were thirsty and hungry, so, since the George and Falcon was opposite the junction for the lane, we drove in. It was a mid week afternoon so very quiet there, but dog friendly so perfect. Plenty of choice for seating, be it arm chairs, regular tables, veranda with garden tables or benches out by the river. The owners were lovely and hospitality light hearted and welcoming. We sat down to gorgeous food. What a pleasant surprise this place was. Lovely walk, lovely meal, great day.

Called in unplanned and had the best fish and chips ever. Fish was freshly cooked sea bass with a thin batter and it was so tasty. Although no sides on menu they happily did us some garlic mushrooms and onion rings cooked freshly and large portions. Would not hesitate to go back and try other items on the menu. Very freindly and welcoming

Very disappointing visit to the George & Falcon for a Sunday roast. First visit for a few years and really looking to it but on arrival the virtually empty car park might have been a clue of what was to come. In fairness we received a friendly and warm welcome but it went downhill from that point forward. The pub was completely empty other than one other couple. We were invited to sit anywhere we wanted to, although we had booked so would have expected a table set up in readiness. We had a roast - one beef and one lamb. The meals were delivered by two young waiters who thought the lamb was pork which was a tad amusing! We had to ask for sauces, not offered to us. We also had to then request cutlery, and after two attempts I eventually was given a child’s fork. The only choice of white wine was Pinot as they were awaiting a delivery the following day. To say the lamb was mainly fat and gristle is a fair description - see photos. The beef was dry and tough. We pointed out the amount of fat on the lamb to the waitress and her only response was to tell us that as a rule she never has lamb at home as it’s always fatty! We asked her to raise with the chef as, frankly, we were amazed that he’d sent it out with so much fat. Heard nothing back and no apology. Will not return in a rush.

We thought we would give the place a try again as we haven't been since it has been taken over by new staff. We have always liked the actual pub. It's very spacious and the garden is lovely next to the river and it's dog friendly (bonus) We visited on a Thursday evening. It was quiet. The man behind the bar was friendly. The menu was very limited. We decided on a burger and scampi. It came out quickly. The portions were a fare size. The burger wasn't that great. A thin patty with a bit of bacon. No salad leaf or slice of tomato. Just meat in a bun. The peas were dreadful! Would have been good to use in a pea shooter to cause some damage though. The salad was fresh which was nice and the scampi was fine. Just a bit average but edible.

Popped in here by chance at lunchtime and we were glad we did. Nice enough pub area. Sun terrace with good seating. Sunny Beer garden overlooking river. Dog friendly. We received a warm welcome. The menu looked great but we only wanted a sandwich. The chef offered us loads of options. They couldn’t be more helpful. It was a lovely lunch sitting outside. Food was spot on. A few tweaks and this pub would be five star and in fairness to the owners, they’ve not been there that long so I have no doubt that it will get even better. This pub deserves to be great. I would urge you to try it. We would return.

Every member of staff was a delight, they could not have been kinder and more helpful. I have given four stars plus for the food only The food is excellent but front off house staff should be shot.We used this pub a few years ago. We have taken our car club there many times about 35 cars. We were looking at bringing them back to this pub about four times a year.I thought I would take a look again and see what it is now like. The food was excellent I understand they have a new chef. I had mussels to start, and I must say one off the best mussels dishes I ever had. Mains was Pork belly with prawns in a sauce for £16.50 lovely flavour but felt the veg should have been included in the price not £3.50 extra. The bad points...On arrival, the hand sanitizer bottle was empty at the front entrance, and the lobby had hundreds of leaves over the floor. The bar staff who also served us at the table bent over us to place food down. There was no finger bowl or wipes brought with mussels or a plate for the shells. There was a hoover left in the middle of the seating area. The staff girl with the blonde hair, was playing with a baby behind the bar the baby who handle a gin bottle.More interested in playing with baby than serving customers. Training needed!!Hand dryer was not working in men's toilet. ( in Covid times?)So to sum it up food worth a visit it but front of house need a manager or someone responsible for staff.Would not bring the car club here. Needs sorting out first.

Arrived at the hotel to immediately see that exterior and interior was in need of care and to be updated. I learned that the business had changed hands only two weeks previously and, despite the restaurant being closed the new proprietors and the limited staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. They provided an excellent cooked breakfast for the nine of us, an excellent, bespoke dinner one evening (in the bar) cooked by one of the new owners and allowed us the space to have a 'do it yourself dinner' on the final night. I would like to thank all the staff and the new owners for their efforts; they deserve to be supported.

Greeted at the door with big smiley face, albeit with a mask on, seated on lower deck in the shade. Waiting staff very efficient, drinks came quickly and so did our lunch. Plenty of it, fresh and tasty. The waiting staff are a credit to this pub, knowledgable and welcoming.Walked by the stream at the back of the beer garden and around the village after lunch. Lovely place to relax and chill

We stayed here for a night whilst walking the South Down's Way and it was brilliant. Delicious food on the evening in a pretty garden with friendly courteous service, a luxurious comfortable ensuite room with a plentiful breakfast included in the price . We will be back !

Went here with my girlfriend and friends today for a bit of the ol lunch. Beautiful setting, especially if you sit down in the garden bit by the fast running stream. Tress all around with the pub in the back ground. Shame its close to noise roads otherwise this would be properly serene.Service was great, take a seat and its full table service. Regular check backs for more drinks and that the food was all OK, but not too much either. The food was all good, fresh and nicely cooked. The ribs were a good portion and nice and saucey.Bith pasta dishes looked good and had plenty of ingredients. The mixed grill was nice, a touch pricey at £20 for what you got in my opinion and the steak wasn't rare, but still soft and delicious. If your driving that way its certainly worth a visit.

We had a very bad experience with the previous manager of this pub and it really put us off however we were recently back in the area, we were delighted to see it was under new management and thought we would give it a try. And we were not disappointed. They have an extensive menu, well laid out with a good choice of items especially as we had a vegetarian in our party. We sat out on the lovely terrace, service was excellent and attentive and the food was really lovely. In fact we went back twice in the same week.Thank you, we will definitely be back

Had lunch here today while staying at a holiday cottage nearby . We were glad to see outside seating under cover as it was a little chilly ! We shared a delicious fish sandwich platter with crispy battered cod, whitebait , green lipped mussels and fries with salad and dips . Then sticky toffee pudding for my partner and apple tart with salted caramel Ice cream . Yum Service was excellent and our efficient friendly waitress was Mirjam .

Having visited The George and Falcon two or three times under its previous management, we were intrigued to see what our experience would be like in our first venture out in that direction for quite some time! We called last minute on a whim and were very pleased to hear that there were tables available for lunchtime. We were given a warm welcome and sat on the terrace with the sun trying to creep out as often as it could. Fabulous lager and brilliant service- a very good start. I ordered the whitebait and my partner ordered the chicken strips to start. Having ordered whitebait at just about every opportunity I get- I can honestly say that this was the best! Cooked perfectly and with what can only be described as 'seaweed' from a Chinese restaurant underneath. So much flavour! We were equally impressed with our mains (chicken supreme- perfectly cooked and well seasoned meat) and chicken and bacon pasta. Whilst this is a little bit of a drive for us- we will not hesitate to return very soon! Congratulations to the new management- exceptional! And, in this day and age, I should add- all above board COVID wise...

We have just returned from having a very enjoyable lunch whilst the choice was limited which under the current situation was understandable. What we had was well cooked and the staff where polite and friendly. Just one point please put heating on a bit earlier. We will return soon.

My wife & I stayed here for 3 nights with our puppy. We were welcomed with a friendly greeting and shown to our rooms. Room was large, cosy & clean. Perhaps could have done with a little bit of a refresh as showing its age in some areas, e.g ceiling & carpet.Ate a meal on first night which was so tasty. The food really is delicious. We had breakfast every morning and drinks & bar snacks on another evening. Breakfast were decent portions (we had full English) & quality food. All of the staff were so friendly and we were made to feel like we were at a home from home - we even had the fire lit for us next to our breakfast table on our last morning! Special thanks to Frankie, Miriam & the chef who took the time to chat and look after us.This is a very doggy friendly pub (our puppy loved his stay - and meeting Ronnie) and a great base for exploring the South Downs or to come & visit for some tasty food.

I have visited this pub on a number of occasions since the lockdown was lifted and i can honestly say that this place is my guilty pleasure. The food is always excellent, totally recommend the soup of the day and half baguette, at very very reasonable prices. This is one place that i always feel i get my money’s worth with large portions of well cooked food. It is very obvious that the kitchen staff are proud of what they produce and the front of house service is excellent. Always welcomed with a smile and nothing is ever too much the bar staff would be a credit to any well established high end restaurant . This is one local country pub that i would, and have, recommend to my family and friends. Can’t wait to go back.

What a fabulous discovery - we’ve just had a delicious Sunday lunch in this lovely village pub. Everything is fantastically well organised with well spaced tables, sanitizer, one way systems and table service, and the staff were incredibly friendly, cheerful and welcoming. There was a fabulous selection of delicious sounding vegetarian and vegan options on the menu which put us in the very unusual position of being spoilt for choice. In the end, we went for the Sunday lunch carvery and chose the nut roast with apricots and goats cheese and the mushroom wellington. Both came with our choice from a great selection of perfectly cooked vegetables and sides - all dished out for us (in very generous portions) by the very friendly staff. The honeycomb cheesecake was incredible and the whole meal was good value for money. Hopefully people will really flock to support the great effort the new management are putting in to make this such an enjoyable and safe place to eat, we’ll definitely be back!

This inn is in dire need of a major paint job in the rooms. Rotting window frames, paint peeling on the bathroom ceiling, showers not reliable. No fruit or cereal at breakfast, no toast, marmalad, butter etc offered. New owners, but they are charging as if everything was in good condition. Don't stay if you can't get at least 20% off the room price!

Really yummy Sunday roast carvery with a treat of three options for veggies like me. I had the apricot and goats cheese nut roast - absolutely gorgeous. Loads of different vegetables on offer too. Best roast in a long time. We sat outside on the decking and it was really lovely. Our first trip to the pub since Admiral took over from Marstons. We will definitely return. For sure the pub could do with a lick of paint outside but it still has a great atmosphere inside.

We decided to try this pub as it’s under new management. It was really very quiet with little atmosphere. Pre Covid it would have been packed on a Sunday lunchtime. Service was good, we were seated and orders taken quickly. Then a looong wait of 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Pork belly delicious with a great veg selection. Burger also proclaimed good. Puds of cheesecake and crumble good too. Two soft drinks, bill came to £46. Good value as portions were generous. Although we enjoyed, we wouldn’t hurry back. The pub is definitely looking worse for wear and could do with a major refurb to relaunch it. I really hope that this pub survives as have been visiting it for decades but fear it is going to be an uphill struggle.

Gloomy, empty, run down pub at lunchtime. Bloke behind bar ignored us for ages until I uttered those clearly offensive words "excuse me" only to be answered with "someone will be with you in a moment" without even looking up!!! We were the only 'customers' at the bar... appalling, rude service. A young girl eventually turned up and she was apologetic and friendly. Decided not to eat there for obvious reasons.

We ate as a large family group on a weekday in the summer holidays. Inside was quiet so we had tables in our own area. Waiting staff were efficient and appreciated that the kids wanted their food quickly. Really impressed with the food - decent pub grub. Effective measures are in place to observe current social distancing rules but it didn’t impact on our experience.

Having decided to extend our walk to take in a lunch stop, we found some space here. Having relatively swiftly ordered our lamb shanks, and expecting them to take a bit longer than, say, fish and chips, we did have a bit of a wait on our hands. After at least half an hour, and having asked them to chase it up, out it came. It was delicious when it arrived, with the pea and mint bonbon a particular highlight, and the lamb falling off the bone.

Have been wanting to visit for a while since the new owners took over after many recommendations from friends. Finally got to visit and was not disappointed. Took my parents for lunch. The food was amazing, service impeccable and the renovations of the building are fantastic. Looking forward to revisiting soon.

I just can’t see how their prices are sustainable. Charging over £4 for a flat white with oat milk is outrageous, so I won’t be returning.

Returned after 50 years. Nostalgic visit to this place after around 50 years. Came with my parents when I was very young, but remembered the tranquility beside the river. This evening, Jenna, a lovely south African lady served me steak pie followed by sticky toffee pudding. It was just lovely. Nice 😎
