Impromptu stop for tea and cake whilst on our dog walk. Very friendly staff who provided water and biscuits for our dog. Good selection of cake, including a lovely one made especially for Jubilee, the coffee was very good too. Prices were extremely reasonable, a pot of tea, a coffee and 2 decent slices of cake were £8.95. Definitely recommend and s detour we will take more often!

We are regular visitors to The George, which is run superbly by volunteers. High standards abound in all areas; excellent coffee and delicious home made cakes, fresh flowers on the tables, lively ambience, very friendly staff, spotlessly clean toilets. A warm welcome is always guaranteed. The George is a real asset to Martock....faultless in all areas.

Excellent coffee and food at very reasonable prices. Menu is small but what is served is excellent by such friendly staff. Tends to get very noisy when full but this adds to the atmosphere. A great place run by volunteers which says a lot about the community of Martock. There is also a food donation box if you wish to leave something which is dispensed to those in need locally. Such a good idea. Parking is easy around the back of the George which makes life easy.

Owned and operated by the Martock Christian Fellowship Charity, The George has a small village feel and a relaxed atmosphere. The menu is not extensive, but what we did order was really nice and perfect for breakfast. They have games and blocks for kids to play with, which kept our daughters occupied while we waited for our food. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the building is gorgeous - having been built in the 16th Century.

I don't expect 'The George' gets many motorcycle gangs descending on them (in our case the 'gang' was more like a bunch of grumpy old men!) but we were welcomed with a smile. The bunch of ladies running the shop were great. The cake was wonderful - possibly the best Carrot Cake I've ever had. Lovely spot. Plenty of parking. Highly recommended.

Lovely little converted pub run by a Christian charity as a community tea room/cafe. Lovely staff and very clean and tidy. Nothing amazing but the apple cake was very good. Not a huge selection but recommended if in the area. Benches outside if weather is good. Good prices and impressed by the cleanliness. Tables, chairs and decor all in keeping. It's in a lovely spot and looked intriguing , but once inside there was a strange atmosphere , perhaps because its not a real cafe, but some sort of Christian center with rather over-keen volunteers. From outside it looked like a pub, which they tell me it was, but inside it has a scrubbed atmosphere not at all sympathetic to the building. The food was ok, but this atmosphere ruined it. The White \hart for us next time!

Missed it on drive through Martock but found car park just behind in the end. Very welcoming cafe and we enjoyed cake and tea and scones, all homemade by the ladies serving us. A good use of an old Inn, which has sadly closed. A nice start to a drive round which eventually took us to East Lambrook gardens, also worth a visit.

The George Coffee Shop is a lovely setting in the middle of Martock. Inside the decor is contemporary but sympathetic to the heritage of the old stone architecture. The standard of coffee and cake is wonderful and you are sure to recieve a warm welcome. Whether you want to bury yourself in a book or work (free wifi is available) or chat to people you'll find you can do it all. I visited opened my laptop and was able to crack on with an hour or so of work with a lovely flat white.

I've been to The George a few times since it opened last year and it always has such a lovely atmosphere- often busy and buzzing. The staff (all volunteers) are really friendly, there's a good selection of hot drinks, snacks (including soup, crumpets, tea cakes etc.) and really delicious cakes (and everything is homemade)! All of the produce is good quality, and everything is made to a really high standard! The fixtures and fittings are all new and modern, and it's always clean and tidy. There's a great big car park at the back and the rest of the village is lovely to walk around. It's also right opposite the Church- which is great for a visit!
