This is our goto saturday night place for dinner after a busy week what a place to go to Food always spot on the beers are finevand the staff give amazing service with a genuine smile 10out of 10 !

Recently visited on a Friday lunchtime with my elderly aunt and wife. The food is good wholesome food. My wife had corned beef hash and I had sliced beef on a roll with gravy and chips. For sweets it was apple tart and custard and sticky toffee pudding with custard. The service was very good even though it was busy and the atmosphere is also very good with prices that wont break the bank. Found within a lovely picturesque village the George & Dragon needs to be good otherwise it would not exist. Give it go you will not be disappointed.

My wife and I had lunch yesterday 12 September. The food was fine, but towards the end, a couple came in with 2 dogs. Despite them being shown the area where dogs are allowed, they sat next to myself and my wife while we were eating. One dog was on the floor next to me, the other was allowed to sit on the chair with its owners. I find this extremely unhygienic, if it wasn’t for the fact that we had nearly finished our meal I would have asked to be seated elsewhere.

Ham and egg salad was a lovely light lunch, sat outside in the sun with the view of the beautiful village. Will be back!

Idyllic setting with good food but let down by the cleanliness standards. I don’t think I have ever before entered a ladies toilet which smells as bad as this does. It smells strongly of old stale urine. I had to double check that I hadn’t entered the gents in error! The whole pub does not smell fresh or clean. The floor outside needed sweeping and the tables needed wiping. It was as though they weren’t ready for customers. The hanging baskets had just been watered leaving the front steps dangerously slippery. I enjoyed my lunch but the cleanliness needs addressing.

Like pubs of old, locals and visitors are all in there, a lovely atmosphere.

We took a trip out to this lovely village as we were in the area and I used to drink here many years ago. Stone plaque built into the wall inside 'Nil Nimium Cupito' 1722. It was early and we had a cuppa outside. They'd not been open long and we didn't feel the owners/ barman was in the mood for conversation. Lovely spot, I'd like to come back here to dine, feels like a real winter pub.

Me and my fiancée moved nearby. Wanted to try this place. We lived it. Cosy , quaint and the food and service was great. Made to feel welcome by bar dude and waitress. Although we wanted two portions of chips at the bar, we were given loads. Loved it. Can't wait to eat in the restaurant this weekend which looks bigger.

Very quaint building (1733?) in a lovely Village. We travelled there for my belated Birthday present. He had Mussels, I had Pate to start. Both fine. The mains however were disappointing. The Fish pie was ‘sloppy’ and the Stroganoff was tasteless? Service was ‘formal’.

Quintessential British pub set in a Harry Potter type film set. Had a superb Sunday roast, one of the best we have had for a very long while. Will be back on our next visit to Marbury Country Park.

We had the Sunday Roast with Sirlion Beef and had desserts afterward really good the berry crumble is not on the menu anymore the best desserts were apple tart and chocolate cake

Food was okay, it was quite busy but the decor looks like it could do with a refresh.

Such a lovely gem in a beautiful village. Lovely building, some well preserved features inside and a lovely atmosphere. Welcoming villagers and good variety of drinks: coffee as well as beers and spirits. Food beautifully presented, and tasted good. Can't fault the place. Will definitely return again if in area.

Outside table dirty. Had to ask waitress to clean it who tried to wipe it with a dry cloth and some spray. Ordered drink at bar and had to pay for drinks seperate to food order. Food order was taken by the waitress at the bar and paid for af the till via another staff member. Food average at best. Chips cold, salad not fresh and toastie greasy. Very dissapointing.

Visited here on BH Monday evening for a meal. What a lovely hotel/pub. Friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. The food was really, really good. Freshly prepared, fresh ingredients, hot, great chips and be warned, large portions. We had gammon, and liver and onions. We'll be back!

Great old pub in a very pretty village. Friendly service good cask ales at great prices and a perfect Guinness pour. We didn’t have food but it looked amazing.

After taking a walk round this beautiful village ! Sit down and enjoy an amazing meal ! Opposite the church what a view ! In side is beautiful I would book to get seats as it’s busy ! We sat outside watching the village go by ! The staff are amazing 10/10 service ! Have a cheeky pint or cider or even gin & tonic ! You Perseco lovers !

One of the nicest steak pies I’ve ever had, absolutely packed with meat and the pastry had that traditional homemade taste. The ice cream was from a local farm shop apparently, it tasted a lot nicer than standard ice cream, it was really creamy and full of flavour.

We can't fault this place, although the atmosphere was a bit difficult to score, as it was a quiet time when we went, so not a lot of people in. But it did seem brilliant.

Booked a table on a friend's recommendation. Wasn't disappointed, food was amazing freshly cooked, team members were really friendly, very busy but didn't affect service. will definitely be back very soon. Highly recommend

Excellent location for lunch. Despite it being very busy, we had prompt and friendly service.

We really enjoyed our food here and the staff are lovely. We had the roasts and for desserts Apple tarts, sticky toffee pudding, and a Sundae. I'd recommend booking, we really liked our table too, felt like it was a bit private.

Tonight we were served by a beautiful young soul called Courtney what a fantastic young lady. She will go far in life So warm and welcoming and as I scanned the room I noticed her keeping an eye on the tables so as to always make sure people were tended too. All the staff here are lovely and the food was exquisite as always. 10 stars on service, atmosphere, and food. Thank you Paul for the cheeky mints.

Wonderful country pub that hasn't lost its charm like lots of other pubs these days. Staff were very helpful and polite, and food was fast, hot and tasty. Recommend trying this pub.

Four of us went to this lovely pub for a sunday roast and it was delicious.I can honestly say that the roast sirloin beef dinner was amazing(one of the best i have ever had) and would highly recommend a visit.All four of us were made up with the food/service and lovely staff. thanks once again

Excellent food and fantastic service. Been twice in last few months and they are best meals out I’ve had in ages. Staff couldn’t do enough for us- waitresses and managers lovely people especially Angela who went above and beyond to look after us. Highly recommend this place.

Decided to go a little bit further to try a new establishment for a weekday lunch with the better half. The George and Dragon did not disappoint. Friendly service, and some tantalising dishes on the menu which made ordering difficult, having to whittle it down. The Tempura Vegetables and Crispy Chilli Beef with Pilau Rice were both impressive starters. The Chicken and Ham pie off the specials menu was sublime. The best or I think I've ever had. The fish and chips were equally delicious according to the better half. Definitely a place we will be returning too.....if only for another one of those stunning pies.

A village pub with great character and class, with a small car park to the rear and some outside seating too. We chose to eat in the bar area. However, further back, there is the option to sit in the dining section, which did look very inviting. There is a sign to say well-behaved dogs welcome on leads in the bar, which is great, so we will certainly visit again with ours! The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. We were only inside for moments and were warmly treated and shown to our seats. The food was delicious. We weren't adventurous and just had the burger and chips. However, the photo does not do it justice, neither of us could finish the meal, it was freshly cooked with a reasonable waiting time, the food was of a good quality, tasty and filling, to the point we just couldn't face a pudding so a return trip is a must! It's such a shame that more villages don't have such a unique and valuable asset for the locals. Great budworth is very fortunate to have the George and Dragon!

Chips mmm very few soggy, flaccid and not I would call chips. Very disappointed tbh, won't eat there again, I was in a party of three so I can't speak for them. We did decide not to come back.

A beautiful pub inside and out situated in the picturesque villahe of Great Budsworth - serving tasty food including a few vegan options. We noticed the printed menu did not include them, but ask at the bar or look online. We had the vegetable Wellington with vegan gravy, chips and veggies. There are also a couple of vegan dessert options!!

We were a party of 16 and we were well looked after by the staff and the food was first class , all food was served at the same time , we will definitely be coming back to the George & Dragon soon

The pub is situated in a very pretty village and our experience was good. All four enjoyed their meal. They catered for a gluten free member of our party, although service was a little slow. Recommended

We stopped off here after an exploration of the most beautiful village as I have ancestry here going back to the domesday book. The staff are lovely, as are the locals and there was a roaring fire that thaws the soul

We came here with friends for a Christmas night out, it was the best Christmas meal we've ever eaten, we have decided to come back in the summer and again next Christmas time. There is a dog friendly area inside too. We would come more often but it is quite a way from home for us. The atmosphere was great and the service was excellent.

So prettily decorated for Christmas, with a roaring fire and lovely atmosphere. The smell of gorgeous home cooked food as you enter! Welcoming and helpful staff. We both had open sandwiches with hot beef and red onion - so tasty and fresh! Also chips, which were perfect for me, and the usual small pub salad. We sat outside with our dog in the sunshine, because there were no dog-friendly seats available inside (we hadn't booked). Although the pub was very busy the service was speedy and pleasant. The toilets were spotless, which for me is an indication of a hygenic kitchen! Woud definitely go again, thank you.

The George and Dragon catered for the wake after my father’s funeral. There were 150 of us and Ann Marie and her staff laid on a fabulous buffet. The cosy atmosphere and the roaring fire warmed our hearts after the church service. This is a pub definitely on the up. We have also had lunch at the pub before and after the funeral and each time, the food has been top drawer. The beef pie is a hit in our family!

We came here for our Christmas Meal after coming a few weeks ago for Sunday Lunch. Once again we wasn’t disappointed, it was a fantastic meal, nice and hot, food was spot on! We had a 3 course meal and each course was delicious. Great portion sizes compared to other pubs we have visited in the area, will definitely be coming back in the future!

Pre-booked a table for two on a Sunday evening (5:45pm), arrived about 20mins early and were able to find a parking space (as others have mentioned this is very tight). Despite arriving early we were shown straight to our table. They were very busy as you would expect at this time on a Sunday at a pub that's famous for their Sunday roasts. It took about 15 mins to order drinks and we used that opportunity to order food too as we course the staff were very busy. They didn't have any of one of the starters we ordered (baked camembert) but suggested some alternatives duck bon bons. Despite how busy they were the starters (2 x portions of the duck bon bons) arrived promptly, it did take some time for our plates to be cleared but as mentioned the staff were rushed off our feet. Our main courses arrived hot and nicely presented (2 x 14 hour braised beef and ale pie) and they were delicious and good portions. We did order another round of drinks last way through the main course but these never arrived, again I think due to how busy they were (we were not charged for these drinks). Really nice atmosphere, lots of people enjoying themselves, nice and warm with log fires going and decorated festively.

My Partner and I had a lovely 3 course meal. The staff were so friendly and accommodating and delivered a fantastic service throughout our meal. The food was DELICIOUS! We felt that the menu had a great choice and it was really good value for money. We really enjoyed the cosy atmosphere that the pub offers too! We will definitely be returning and will recommend to our friends and family!

Lovely place in an amazing village. However am disappointed when we were charged for a pint of lager - just short of £6 - when in fact we had a pint of lager shandy. I pointed this out to the lady behind the bar who said that is how they charge for a shandy! That surely can’t be right - it should be charged as half of lager and glass of lemonade - both of which do not add up to a full pint of lager- think we’ve been well ripped off there. Glad we didn’t stay for a second

Walked in and spoke to a gentleman who showed us to the dinning area, the specials were tried and we're really nice, bravo to the chef. Friendly and welcoming staff, good looking place, good prices.

A proper taste of old England. The setting is beautiful - a lovely old village with gorgeous views over the Cheshire countryside. You can even see the telescope a Jodrell Bank on a clear day.

Went with family for a birthday lunch last month. I had the small fish and chips and have to say that the fish was delicious and perfectly cooked and very fresh. However…. I didn’t like the chips - very hard and rather tasteless. The mushy peas hadn’t “mushed” at all and were watery and firm. I had them changed for garden peas which were fine (you can’t go too wrong with these!) but it was disappointing nonetheless as I do prefer mushy peas with fish. They did knock off the price of my drink without asking - which was a nice touch. Thank you 🙏 Dad had the liver and onions which he enjoyed thoroughly. Would I return? This is my nearest pub so I’d like to say yes - also as the chef was highly recommended to me…. but…. the chips would need to be improved. Preferably freshly cooked in beef dripping. Can’t be doing with chips that are hard and tasteless. 🤷‍♀️

Had a lovely walk from Marbury Country Park and we were ready for lunch. Arrived early but our table was ready and it wasn’t too long until we could order. The food coming out of the kitchen looked lovely and we weren’t disappointed when ours arrived. Superb Sunday Dinner with all the trimmings, even a pig in blanket and stuffing with the beef. Good selection of vegetables with cauliflower cheese as part of the deal. Service was excellent with lovely friendly staff, very efficient and could have more veg if wanted. Completely stuffed by the end. Would definitely go back.
