Tuvimos a mis madres despertar aquí y recomiendo encarecidamente la comida que tuvimos un buffet el personal era fantástico se sintió acogedor, cálido y acogedor la señora que hizo la comida era una persona tan encantadora en todo fue una delicia.

Group of lay walkers stopped off here yesterday for much needed refreshments. Lovely welcoming pub and the food was delicious.

Over the years, we've dined at this lovely pub. The food is nice but the service has always been VERY slow!! So we only go there if we're not in a hurry. We took a chance today as we fancied a Sunday roast. They only had 2 roast dinners left at 4.15pm - one lamb and one beef which comes with a free dessert (£13.95 each). We waited ages for our meals (the place wasn't that busy) and when they finally arrived, at about 4.50, we were EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED to be given just ONE HALF OF A SMALL ROAST POTATO each!! When we queried this, we were told that this is how the meal is always served because there is also mashed potato. and a free dessert. The roast potato itself was definitely not a crispy potato, - it was very hard inside and only slightly browned on the outside. However, the chef kindly, and very quickly, gave us another 6 half roast potatoes - but sadly these too were not fluffy roasts - they were comparable to a boiled potato that had been browned on the outside in a pan. It's such a shame because we've dined at the George several times in the past and have usually enjoyed their meals. It's just their roast dinner that was surprisingly disappointing. The dinner itself was lovely - we had lots of well cooked meat and veg in a rich gravy and a crispy Yorkshire pudding - BUT the roast potatoes for me were a total let down! But on the bright side - the free desserts were gorgeous! We thoroughly enjoyed the strawberry cheesecake and the lemon tart with whipped cream. I actually had a roast dinner as a takeaway a couple of months ago and the portion size was huge. It lasted me two days as there was so much meat, mash and several roast potatoes - although they were still rock-hard inside and only slightly browned on the outside. To enjoy them, I had to cook them again in the oven. So all in all, the Sunday roast would have been perfect if there were more crispy roast potatoes.

Fish was burnt and soup was served with burger buns instead of bred! Poor service and was shouted at by staff!

I will surely visit but for now ordering via app. This is by far the tastiest takeaway we've gotten. We smiled and hummed throughout dinner. My living room was infused in heavenly aroma. Perfect cooked meats, perfect! Fresh and neat. Generous. A house marinade sauce that is divine. I would love to have food from here on my Christmas dinner table. Food was very warm and vegetables vibrant.

What a terrible experience we had. It started with very rude service towards us, the food was not great and was so late in arriving on to our table it was cold. We complained to the staff and they said they will warm it up for us. I do not like microwaved food like most people, if i wanted this kind of food then i can get this at home. Anyway we decided to cancel the food we had ordered and left. I do not recommend this place for lunch or dinner.

Fuimos a este pub a almorzar alrededor de la 1:30 pm, dijeron que estaban cerrados y que abrirían a las 2 pm. Así que esperamos hasta las 2 pm. Después de lo cual dijeron que ahora van a abrir a las 3 pm. Muy mala actitud con los clientes, no recomendamos este lugar a nadie a quien le guste la buena hospitalidad, ya que no obtendrá esto de este lugar. Terminamos saliendo y agarrando un sándwich del otro lado de la carretera CoOp.

I met an old friend of mine for a catch up and a drink. I had a carlsberg and she had a Sauvignon blanc. It was very nice evening and I would return.

15-0 years ago it was my local pub but now i move 1mile away hahaha I visited the George few days ago and new modern decorated - not a pub style so I'm very disappointed and 2nd prices are extremely expensive Not recommended

We only popped in for a quick lunch mid bike ride. The landlady was friendly and it was a great pleasure to stop by for a pit stop here. The food was simple but tasty, we had a sandwich which was served with homecooked chunky chips and a salad garnish. We'll take a trip to see Kathleen again sometime soon.
