This now served "Fully loaded" brand of food to eat in or take away. The food was lovely with huge portions, definitely value for money. The pub plays very loud music in the bar!! and very limited drinks available. Staff were friendly and dogs are welcome.

Such a great pub. Staff are all welcoming and friendly, such a great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend! Tried some of the loaded fries from stacked and loaded and they were lovely, will definitely be eating here again.

Fantastic welcoming Landlord, goes out of his way to make you feel welcome. Great choice of beer and lagers on tap. Lovely large garden for children to play including play equipment for them to play on. Lots of parking available. All staff very friendly and welcoming. New menu from stacked and loaded is amazing. Started to put on more events, including live music. Definitely recommend the George, will be back very soon. 😊

Great village pub and a bonus it’s dog friendly too. We went on a sunny afternoon and enjoyed some cold drinks in the beer garden. Excellent service by the staff too.

Lacked atmosphere but staff friendly enough. Hardly any other customers at the time.

Under new management and what difference! Nothing special, we had spaghetti (one carbonara, one Bolognese) and cheese nachos to start. House wine is very palatable. Spaghetti was cooked to perfection and the home made sauces very good and perfectly spiced. The place still needs some redecorating as it is quite gloomy, but a great place to eat now.

New management, new menu. Absolutely brilliant, great homemade food and loads of choice even for the kids. Highly recommend!! <3

This is now under new management. The 2 brothers are great. Made us feel very welcome. Had such a great night on their opening night. Will definitely be using regularly

Friendly village pub under new management. Warm and welcoming. New landlord and his team need to find their feet but have made a very good start. Food service starts mid November and is planned to be available 7 days a week. Looking forward to a positive change to my favourite local.

Me and my colleague was booked in here for an evening for an overnight stay. Every single experience, from walking into the bar to waking up, was a nightmare. “Let me see if they’ve even got your rooms ready” is what we was greeted to. Padlocks on the outside of the door, which is some questionable security, shared toilet and bathroom. And to make it even worse there was no hot water for the shower too! It was so bad we went to the pub next door as we didn’t want to be anywhere near the place. Even the locals were laughing when we said we were staying at the George.

What is the point having your opening times on your website. Closed when it was supposed to be open. After a long walk it would have been nice to have a drink and some food but alas not.

Stayed one night here as we were working away, very run down, no telly in the room and my blinds looked like they'd come from a squat definitely would not recommend staying here

Only stopped off for a quick drink whilst on a walk with the dogs. Stayed in the beer garden which seemed OK but was full of old pallets. The outside bar looked very rundown and the whole place looked quite neglected. I can't comment on the food, if they did it, but my husband said the lady behind the bar was friendly enough.

Very run down, needs total re vamp compared to pub up the way, no wonder it was dead

Had Sunday lunch booked day before, food and service was lovely and other customers who seemed local were very welcoming. Outside the car park was a little tired and inside the pub was fine but not a palace, don't be put off though as from moment you walk in the food, drink and service is great

Had Sunday lunch here whilst staying on a nearby campsite. Lovely homecooked meal and dessert. Only one choice of each course but still great food and a friendly atmosphere.

Rang on Friday evening to ask if still serving food, 7.30pm, told only a limited menu available. Arrived 8.30pm & had the most delicious home made cheese burger, chips & salad. Massive thanks to the landlord, great welcome & atmosphere. 31-03-2023.

Food amazing I had the roast. ..desert French tart n custard. .yummy...fresh fruit on top...lovely. Staff very polite n extremely pleasant Evening the chef came out n checked on how things where going. Will definitely be going back again.

Today i was a victim. A victim of embezzlement. The manner in which i was spoken to in trying to fix this scandal was absolutely disgusting. They robbed me blind and made me cry. Shocked and disgusted

A decent meal. Place not what I expected.

Visited for Sunday lunch yesterday, booked in for 2pm. Slightly disappointed that despite being told the choice was beef or pork, we were then told they'd run out of beef. Ok, pork it was. Nicely cooked, though not a generous portion of meat - probably running low on that too. Good range of vegetables, roast potatoes were... Ok. Dessert - you could have pie, pie, pie or pie - shades of Python here? I prefer a crisper pastry, but the apple and blackberry filling was tangy and tasty and the custard was good. The apricot pie exploded but was tasty, and apparently the blueberry was also good. The 4 meals plus 4 drinks came to just under £90, so reasonable I suppose.

Went on a Monday, and was told they didn't cook on Mondays. The landlord said it wouldn't take long to fire up the oven if we didn't mind waiting. We had two very nice homemade pies with roast potatoes and veg. What a nice guy, haven't had service like that for ages. Thanks again for helping us out.

Greeted by a very tatty and unkept garden and outdoor kitchen/bar area. Loud music blaring outside also not conducive to a peaceful drink. A total re fit inside and out is required at the least. The staff were unsure of prices and products.This may be because they are new but first impressions not good. Would be willing to try again once a much needed upgrade is done.

Nice, friendly pub with a decent pool table. Beer was nice and they let the kids use the pool table.

Local pub with rear garden. Unplanned visit they were able to feed 5 of us at short notice. Even brought water bowls out for the dogs.

Went to the George tonight after not going there for some time. Under new management and the place was lovely and clean, Covid measure in place and a warm welcome. Wasn't a fan in the past but really enjoyed this evening.

Excellent food great service staff awesome couldn't ask for more great place to eat and drink highly recommended will be going back again.

Popped down for an evening meal and a few beers - Elgoode’s Cambridge nicely kept. We need vegetarian food - and the simple menu was delivered to our table on slates - we had 4 or 5 choices. Veggie burgers came with brilliant kimchi coleslaw and home cooked rosemary chips. Staff friendly, table or bar service. Great!

Must say the food provided was homecooked and tasted beautiful. There were five of us and all meals were extremely tasty. The service was good. The beer is good. Cannot fault the place. Well done to the new landlords.

Just called in for an early evening meal, the staff were very friendly and helpful. They were happy for us to bring our little dog in with us, I had a pint of beer and my wife had a cider - strawberry and rhubarb on tap. Our meals, mine Rib eye steak with home made chips, my wife had belly pork. Both meals were lovely thank you to the chef and staff.

Very nice pub, owners and staff are great hosts. It really is a great community pub with something for everyone. They regularly keep you informed of what is going on. The Sunday roast is very nice too.

Had work christmas meal here. Food was good. Lovely and hot and plenty of it. Lost stars for ambiance. I realise this is a small pub not a restaurant but the christmas feeling wasnt really evident.

Carvery was cold meat ok but need to look at the veg it was all frozen don't expect sweetcorn peas beans and frozen parsnips really should be looking at fresh veg is cauliflower cheese leeks broccoli cabbage like more home cooking

We stay very close to this pub at a caravan site close by, but over the past couple of years it has changed hands several times, but nobody seems to be able to make a go of it , no atmosphere when you go in, as ex publicans ourselves we see the need for a welcome when you walk in, some sort of chat etc, that’s what makes people want to come back , it’s a prime location but lacking a good publican . Food is hit and miss yes one day there is food another no chef or can’t be bothered. Shame

Great food, friendly staff and good atmosphere. Perfect for popping in for coffee and cake, full Sunday carvery or just a drink. Have a lovely garden area, pool table and dart board as well as catering well for children and allowing dogs inside!

Great carvery with several meat choices to go with all the traditional veg and gravey and the most super yorkies. The vegetarian choice was a roasted veg tart with THE best herb pastry and all the trimmings! The desert choice included good old school puds with custard and lighter choices. All food was home made, and the coffee declared ‘as good as mine’ a compliment unheard of😂 We would have taken more photos but we were too busy munching.. we have already booked our next visit

I went to this pub because it is an Elgoods pub & as a Guinness drinker Elgoods have always looked after there Guinness. Hop this place is the same today under new management there is only one way for me to find out that is to visit which I will soon but if the Guinness is not up to standard then I will only visit once.

Friendly and pleasant atmosphere. The cake and coffee is excellent. Lovely place to visit with a drink while the kids play in the huge pub garden.

Friendly pub and coffee shop It’s split in two bars plus a giant beer garden: one bar is like a cafe, with great barista coffee, croissants, and loads of delicious cakes. The other bar is like a regular pub with a good selection of beer, wines spirits, pool table, dart board. But you can order anything from either bar. Atmosphere is really friendly and welcoming. I had a cream tea (with clotted cream) and a cappuccino then a couple of pints of local ale. It was all great!

Great local pub under new management. The George now has a traditional bar serving alcohol and soft drinks and a new coffee bar serving lattes, other coffees and teas and great cakes. I had an afternoon tea with prosecco on a Saturday afternoon which was delicious. There’s a lovely sunny beer garden at the back and the playground is underway. Doddington is a very pretty village with a great local vibe

Had a family Sunday lunch here and would thoroughly recommend. Proper old fashioned Sunday lunch. Gravy certainly doesn’t come out of a packet. Will certainly return.

We were visiting fields end fishing lodges and booked The George for Sunday lunch. Sunday lunch is served as a carvery and the food is all fresh and home made, all the food was delicious and a good price too. Staff were friendly. Would definitely come again if we are in the area.

The food is extremely good the atmosphere was very relaxing choice of starters..mains..sweets Caters for vegetarians..

Tonight we enjoyed our halapeno heaven pizza, very tasty garlic bread, fresh salad and coleslaw. All washed down with a couple of pints. A very good stop-off on our dog walk :0)

After checking their website and menu decided to give this pub a try.Rang up in the afternoon to check what time they serve food and went for 5pm. Bought a drink and asked for menu only to be told they do not serve the restaurant menu on an evening but do an eat as much as you want pizza and pasta buffet in bar, the bar area is not welcoming and the women behind the bar was very loud and used the 'f' word a lot with the locals. Drank up quickly and left, do not waste your time on this pub and do not belief their website. There are some lovely pubs and places to eat in March which is only a 10 minute drive away. Would not recomend and will never visit again.

Restaurant had been beautifully decorated for the evening. Staff were friendly and efficient as usual. The 3 course meal was excellent value. We had the mushrooms, steak and rocky road pudding - all wonderful, steak cooked to perfection. The dessert was heavenly! Looking forward to next year!

Popped in for lunch and had a couple of sausage and chips basket meals, the chips were home made crispy and amazing, the sausage was a proper butchers Lincolnshire sausage. There is a nice light bites menu for lunch which includes sandwiches and jacket potatoes. Also the normal menu with pub classics and grills.Really need to support these village pubs when they do nice pub food with good service.

We ate Sunday carvery it was really good, nice and fresh, served by the chief, we also had a evening meal which was really nice I had mushrooms in a creamy sauce they were lovely followed by hunters chicken which is one of my favourites its one of the best I ever tasted would definitely recommend my husband started with home made tomato chilli soup he said he could have eaten another bowl as it was so nice

Was visiting area for my nieces christening day and the whole family came here afterwards. The food put out was good and the outside play area a bonus for the kids who would otherwise get bored. The staff were very friendly and professional. Thanks for your hard works guys. Would like to try a meal there one day too!

We visited The George while on holiday. Our first visit was just for drinks in the garden following the Doddington carnival. Such a lovely atmosphere and good real ales. Even the lager shandy was nice because it was made with Schweppes lemonade from a bottle rather than a gun. We had dinner on our second visit; homemade burger and lasagne both served with handcut chips, just like my mum used to make. Huge portions, lovely and hot, superb and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend The George Inn and will definitely come back when we next visit the area.

Not good beer go to three tuns down the road

Went for a carvery with my friends from Church. The meal was very nice, we couldn't fit any more on our plates! The staff were very nice too. Would definitely recommend.

The landlord is six star and all staff. Food is fantastic what can I say. If you go down the road..... Microwave springs to mind,

Visited the George for a family meal.

We called in on the off chance that we could get some lunch, the landlord was very helpful and pleasant. We both had a tasty meal with plenty on the plate especially the home made chips at a very reasonable price will definitely go again when we next go up to Fields End caravan park

Sadly after a great start, things seem to be going downhill. Breakfasts, no longer available. Carvery now only on Sunday. Main menu... could be better. Lets hope the beer garden idea works. Being a local I would like to see Ian succeed.

Excellent food and very reasonably priced. Just a short drive from Fields End Water. Highly recommend the Rib eye steak, Hunters Chicken, Lasagne & the homemade cheesecake is to die for. Great service too.
