I went in with family, on Remembrance Sunday. As I was waiting to be served, one of the bar staff put a glass of Port in front of me, which she said they were doing for all Veterans. This was greatly received and much appreciated. Thank you

I visited The Griffin after Remembrance Sunday. On ordering my drink, one of the staff gave me a Port, which they were giving out to all Veterans free. A big Thank You as it was a great gesture and much appreciated, although my sister wasn't happy, as I necked it and didn't save any for her !!

Have been to Halloween quiz tonight with friends we all really enjoyed it. Chris changed the bingo calls to Halloween ones which made it more fun. And he also had a Halloween music round which I really enjoyed good job

Such a beautiful pub with amazing staff making all customers welcome. A bit dated but it is 16th century historical building full of original features and charm. Also super dog friendly. Excellent housekeeping team. Love the menu and Sunday & Wednesday carvery. Posto Bellissimo.

Went for Sunday carvery. Was good, just 2 complaints about the food... cheese sauce on the cauliflower cheese was like water and the roast potatoes weren't crispy (skin on new potatoes just cut up). Ladies toilets stink and the floor is all sticky

Booking was easy, staff were very accommodating friendly, and food was lovely, would definitely go again but at a quieter time maybe a week day rather than weekend but over all very happy.

A gorgeous 16th century inn that managed to keep a lot of authentic features. Reasonably priced menu, freshly prepared carvery on Sundays and Mondays, very friendly and courteous staff

Such a great pub, met a few friends for brunch last week here and we all left ready for afternoon nap the food was delicious I had the chicken club baguette, that I would highly recommend to anyone. I was definitely filled up after having this. The staff was so helpful in dealing with us, service with a smile even checked that all the food was good and if we need anything. Can’t fault this establishment at all, absolutely a gem of the town. Thank you all so much

Screaming unruly children aloud as long as accompanied with a sticky fingered barmaid. Breakfast cooked to how the head cook wants to do it, with extra mop string free of charge. NOT pet friendly at weekends as glass on the floor until the customers pick it up .

Nice clean room, efficient check-in. Friendly, welcoming staff. Good food and drink options. Nice breakfast. No decaff coffee in the room and no dairy free spread available at breakfast.

Inside is cozy, staff are helpful, good and drink are worth the stay. Rooms are kept clean without any sort whatsoever. Will stay again.

Had lunch here won't go again. I had meat pie, mash and peas with gravy. The pie crust was so hard I really had to force my knife through it, the mash was cooked from frozen and was absolutely tasteless and the peas were like bullets. As for the gravy I literally had to get it out of the pot with my knife as it was so thick it would not pour. Shall not be going back...

Really nice welcoming staff. Really nice rooms with a huge comfy bed. Breakfast was good. The only small niggle would be maybe a couple more sockets in the rooms? But other than that can’t fault it. I’d definitely stay here again!

Regular visitor for food and drink but over the past month the food seems to have drastically gone downhill. The cheesy Cajun pasta with added chicken was awful. Spicy hot but bland in flavour and dry as no sauce. The recent Sunday lunch was mediocre, variety of vegetables plentiful but only two very small thin slices of meat served and the roast potatoes not only looked awful but tasted soggy and greasy. I understand the cost of products has gone up but so have the prices and the portion sizes has gone down. The new menu is quite frankly boring.

Visited this lovely traditonal pub on monday last weeks as was in the area for work, so made use of the hotel facilities, checking was quick and easy with some very usefull information, for the life of me i can't remember who checked me in but she was extreamly helpful, The room was fresh, clean and very cosy, the bed was so comfy i slept like a newborn, could not fault the room what so ever, The service from the bar staff was quick, professional, with a smile, i ordered my food with ease and sat in one of the booths just by the window to look onto the market, The food was well im no food critic but it was mouth watering delicious. While i was eating i sore a poster promoting a monday night quiz, so i though why not while im here spoke to the bar staff who was happy to help me and booked me a slot, this was such a great night very fun and with lots of different challenging questions but some easy ones. They also informed me that there is a bingo night on tuesday, i joined in on this aswell, it was brilliant not like your usual bingo more fun and exciting for everyone and so relaxed. I think these was hosted by Kila & Chris, both a credit to the pub to make these inviting and fun for everyone. All the staff the i dealt with was a credit, the other two that stood out to me was eva and dasiy credit to the company and all defiantly deserve some recognition. Thank you Ye Olde Griffin, for a very excellent stay, will defianitly be staying again

The pub is very good value for money, clean very dog friendly great atmosphere and good friendly staff nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was good thanks to the guy who gave us lots of ideas where to visit. We had a good meal while we were there. Uber dog friendly. Thanks for the saty.

Absolutely discussed with service !!! Booked 2 night with breakfast had to leave after 1st night Toilet flush jammed so water flowing for hours , when I called the lady in the morning and told her we had gone she more or less put it on us that it was our fault we had a terrible night I did ask for a call back from manager not forthcoming Called again the next day to be informed the toilet had done this to other guest and instead of replacing a £4.00 flush button they repaired it 🤣 Great saving of £4.00 to them and a list to me of £133 and a terrible night I don’t leave reviews ever but not to have the decency to call back after I made contact twice On top of this I have about 6 flea bites on my feet and legs I’ve used this hotel several times and never had any issues but I think this is a joke

We stayed 1 night Saturday, party with DJ was very good. Room very big and clean, comfy beds and good breakfast.

Ye olde Griffin Hotel, is a great family pub with a excellent atmosphere, they have plenty to do during the week from a monday night quiz night to sunday karaoke, with a few extras in the middle, the food is Appetizing, the staff are a credit to them selfs, but also to the pub and stonegate, i have not stayed at the hotel part of this but have hurd raving reviews. You can always guarantee a service with a smile and good laugh and joke with the bar staff, whom are always happy to help you. The first impression when you walk into the pub is very inviting, even right down to the latin words on top of the walls in the reception hall. Keep up the good work all of you :)

Went for a meal with 3 friends. Was served at the bar by a lovely young lady called Eva. She was so helpful and directed us to a 2 eat for £20 deal. We opted for starters of Chicken Goujons and then burgers for mains. We then upgraded from soft drinks to a pint for an extra £1.50 each. Our food was brought to us by Valeriia who was full of smiles and made sure everything was to our liking. Cannot fault the food at all, a definite 10 out of 10 from all of us! The service was top notch too! We will be returning to enjoy another meal and the atmosphere very soon Thank-you to all of the staff

Visited March today and stopped for lunch here.Huge place, nicely decorated . Bargain 2 for £20 ( Mon-Thurs) main meal with either starter or dessert, plus a soft drink ( alcohol for £1 extra) . Ordered a burger and fish and chips. Food arrived well presented and hot in a short space of time. Very tasty. Two sticky toffee puddings with ice cream finished meal off. A coke and a vodka and coke, total , £21. Nice atmosphere, very friendly and welcoming staff. Attentive waiter( sorry didn’t get your name but a credit to the premises). Delicious food . What is there not to like! Would definitely recommend a meal here, an absolute gem .

Went to this gem of a pub for the England v Netherlands match. Such a great atmosphere created with music in the run up to the match. Good prices on drink and deals when you buy burgers. All the staff were friendly and helpful with table service being provided during the game. Already booked for the final on Sunday!

Betty and I went to the Olde Griffin Hotel in March to celebrate the seventh anniversary of our meeting. We chose that place because it was there that we went to eat when we met for the first time. I don’t think we have gone there since. We now see the error of our ways and will make sure we go there again soon. We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff who showed us to our reserved table – a lovely table next to the fire, which being June was not lit of course. We noted the very comfortable chairs. After selecting from the menu I went to order. I ordered a Non-Alcoholic Guinness which I was pleasantly surprised they actually had in stock. So many places advertise that they have this, but then don’t have it when I go to order. The food. We ordered ten chicken wings with barbeque sauce as a starter. They were beautifully cooked and tasty. I can’t remember tasting better and they showed how chicken wings should be cooked. Our main courses. Betty had the Gammon Steak and I the Rump. These were served by a pleasant and attentive waitress. I heard no complaints from Betty. She ordered extra Onion Rings and Scampi, and I think she wished she hadn’t. Not because she had any complaints, she was just too full and did not want to become uncomfortable. I think she was already struggling and was trying to finish. She didn’t want to leave anything! My Rare Rump Steak was excellent. It was thick and juicy. Perfectly cooked and tender. So tender it almost could have been a piece of fillet. I have not had better in a long time. I was given a steak knife, but a butter knife would have been adequate! I know it is an insignificant point, but let me mention the grilled tomato. Most time you go to an establishment offering a grilled tomato with your meal, you will receive half of a tomato that has been put on the grill to leave a couple of marks to show it has been near the grill, but the rest of the tomato is raw. Not here, the tomato is cooked through and appetising. A small point but it goes to show attention to detail. My only negative point on the main dish was the peas. Overcooked and tasteless, but you can’t have everything. The rest of the meal was perfect. I do have a suggestion. The Chicken wings were covered in a sticky Barbecue sauce and a wet wipe would have been useful. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Olde Griffin in March to anyone wanting a tasty and relaxing meal. Do try it.

Stayed here for work last week. Food was traditional pub food with a good selection of ales in the bar. Room was a good size and the bed was comply. Great location in town center.

Great food. But only 3 stars until they bring back the chocolate fudge cake. 5 stars when they do!

Stayed over night on Sunday. Arrived in the afternoon and was able to sample the carvery which was on offer. Beautifully cooked meat and fresh vegetables...thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the service was fantastic both at the bar and when I sat down to eat. Two different members of staff approached me to check everything was OK with my meal. The evening had entertainment in the form of karaoke. There were some really good singers....and some not so good....but everyone appeared to have fun and the atmosphere was fabulous. My room was spacious and meticulously clean. The bed was so comfortable!

Took my son there on Sunday for breakfast. We would normally go to the Ship Inn but thought we would try the Griffin. Very quick service, good price and decent food. Quality not as good as the Ship, but better than the Wetherspoon. Update 04/04/24 Unfortunately things have gone downhill massively. Went there for lunch today and we wish we hadn't. Portion sizes for the price paid have shrunk and the quality of the food is not what it was. Not somewhere myself or my family will ever go back to.

Came through March on our Narrowboat stopped for shopping and lunch in Ye Old Griffin and we both had the all day breakfast and just sat it was the best one we've had in ages very tasty eggs and bacon cooked lovely on a griddle sausages were tasty really enjoyed it, and quick service too 👍😀

An Oasis in the culinary wilderness that is March in the Cambridgeshire fens. Huge pub but divided in to pleasing rooms and spaces so has a homely personable feel. Came for lunch on an unremarkable Monday and the place was busy. Lovely welcome and friendly bar staff. Sizeable menu and my choice of chicken salad did not disappoint. Near instant delivery (inc friends scampi, peas & chips - which was appreciated and impressive). The salad was 100% fresh, tasty and jam packed with different ingredients and extremely generous tender chicken. Deeply envious of the locals to have this establishment on their doorstep. All credit to the hard working and friendly staff - A winning formula indeed.

Good location with free parking. The pub can get noisy so be aware of that. Had an issue with the breakfast supplied in the morning. The breakfast was charged at £9 for 1 rasher, 1 sausage, 1 egg, 1 hash brown etc. But I noticed on the evening menu they advertised an all day breakfast at £8.99 that comes with 2 of everything. Just a bit puzzled as to why this was.

Popped in for breakfast, staff made sure that everything was kept away from all things dairy as the wife has allergies to this, and I have an allergy to mushrooms and vegetables, couldn't fault anything really.

Absolutely lovely place room was clean and modern, a tad too warm for me but we had the window open. Was told that there was a disco on but we didn't hear a thing. The service we received from Sandy was excellent, she was extremely friendly and very welcoming. The food was very nice and tasty, we ate lunch, dinner, and breakfast, however the portions of lasagna we had for tea were VERY small and at nearly £10 each we feel they need to be quite considerably bigger. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Do not let the outside of this place put you off. Inside is very clean and has up to date furnishing. Menu choices were good and also catered for gluten free. The bedrooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. Staff very attentive and helpful. Breakfast was OK, but room for improvement.

Rooms are nice. Clean with Comfy beds. Slight noise from the bar before closing stops an otherwise 5* review. Staff. Especially. Sandy were excellent really helpful and friendly. Just had a fab stay at the Griffin Hotel. Breakfast very good value. Talked to one of the service staff this morning cleaning the rooms. Sorry I didn’t get her name but she had dark brown hair. Lovely to talk to one of the unsung heroes as without the cleaning staff who take pride in their job there would be no hotel. Very nice clean rooms and good value also. Stayed here on a number of occasions and highly recommend xx
