The worst food we have ever had served to us truly awful very cheap quality. We ordered a Burger and a Steak the burger was full of hard bits and didn't smell very good. The Steak was full of fat and clearly of cheap quality. We didn't eat them we couldn't I now know why the owner eats in Macdonald's every day. The pub needs a deep clean and a chef who knows how to cook . Save your money and eat somewhere else.

Terrible. Smelly pub, poor service, awful food. Avoid. Poor standards that they seem to think is good, clearly they don’t understand what good standards are.

Ordered delivery through just eat. Don't ignore the bad reviews. First time ordering from here and will not be doing so again and advise others not to either. If you like to wait hours for cold poor food and service then this is the place for you. Our food took 3 hours from ordering to delivery. Rang up to see where our food was and we were told our order was ready and they were waiting for a driver, half an hour later still no food so rang back, we were told the food had just come out of the kitchen and the driver was just on his way out of the door with it. Eventually when the food did arrive. 1 meal was missing, 1 meal had the wrong meat and 2 sides were missing. Following this 2 of the dinners had string off the meat in them. Rang to complain , the staff didn't sound to bothered (probably use to it) was told to go through just eat for a refund. The complaints and bad reviews are obviously not affecting them as it seems to be an ongoing issue and as long as people keep ordering nothing is going to change.

We came here for Sunday lunch after seeing all the amazing pictures of the Sunday dinner’s on Facebook I was absolutely gutted to say the least it was not good the gravy was black thick and so salty. My son got a Yorkshire pudding wrap which again was really not good the chicken inside was rock hard and again the gravy was so thick. They was one lovely lad serving who was just so busy and a lady at the back taking food orders at a table with a full office set up it was very strange.

Ordered a Sunday dinner for a family of 4 at about 12pm. Heard nothing for 3 hours when they put a Facebook post on saying they were having ‘driver troubles’ and offered 10% off next order (no good to hungry kids). Called the restaurant several times and got a very smarmy manager who only said ‘well it’s on its way’. In the end it didn’t come til 17.50 and had given the kids something else by then. Food was rubbish, freezing cold and mush obviously because it had been left so long. Wouldn’t of minded the wait if they let us know, things happen with delivery drivers at the end of the day. It’s one of those things. But to take money from customers and not deliver for 6 hours is a disgrace The owner thought it good business to post on Facebook his explanation of the delivery situation followed by a post of him dressed in a KFC outfit with the quote ‘all decked out from KFC’. Totally tone death to the situation his restaurant is having. Maybe best for the owner to stick to his food eating videos and leave the restaurant running to someone else more capable. Do not go here!!

The food and table service were met beyond my expectations! Best rated parmo in the north east undoubtedly! The staff were lovely and well mannered! Still a month later craving another.

We was so amazed at how delicious the food was because of how huge the size of the portions are !! The staff was super friendly and brilliant with the kids and I have to say this place has been the best restaurant all round we have been too and we have been many restaurants around the world I’d highly recommend !!!

Visited this restaurant with my wife. My wife ordered a Parmo and myself a steak. Very pleased with the food and service. Food was piping hot and the steak was tender and cooked to perfection. I would happily return.

Upon entering the restaurant on a Saturday night it was empty all the time we were there, there was 3 covers to complete. we were placed on a table which had a broken chair, the barman/server tried taking our order almost immediately after sitting. I was immediately worried about the food when one of the members of staff sent their food back. We Ordered a range of meals which after stating certain things should not be included on the food had been included on the food, so this was not a great start! To follow on from that the food was sent out with a rather lengthy gap between each person receiving the food. The waitress who brought our food walked to the kitchen to collect the food with one of her hands down the back of her pants (not hygienic at all). Also rather than the waitress coming over and making sure everything was okay and that we were happy they were just sat at one of the tables. Eventually when one of them did come over and we had stated that the food wasn’t good the Manger or owner who were present didn’t come over. But proceeded to get the barman/server running back and forth to deal with the issue which we were told different information multiple times. To be honest I don’t think I’d be returning and that the owner needs to start focussing on their own restaurant rather than others. Chiefs where coming in and out of the restaurant with long hair and beards didn’t have hair nets on. To top it off some of the staff were congregated talking badly about the owner and the way he goes about running the restaurant

Took the missus out for dinner as we're shopping in Stockton as we're from hpool and we both had the parmo chips and salad and both were bang on no complaints from us at all deffo go again

God wished I'd seen this was rated worst restaurant in Stockton, good was piled up but if you taste it less is definitely better, the owner Craig could do with a wash, he stunk of bo

First time trying here…. absolutely disgusting I never ever write reviews but this is probably one of the worst places I have been to It was freezing no atmosphere toilets are absolutely filthy the food was cold the Parmos where really dry and tough couldn’t even cut through it properly, kids chicken nuggets burnt. Massively overpriced! I wish I read the reviews beforehand wouldn’t even give it 1 star!

Ordered two Sunday dinners at 1pm, and by 16:10 they still hadn’t arrived. I couldn’t wait any longer as I was going out so had to cancel the order through JustEat. I will never order again, the delivery is abysmal.

After hearing good things we decided to visit, no wonder people are starving in this world when places like this waste so much food, trying to increase obesity, I would rather have a smaller, professionally cooked meal than a mound of pig slurry. NEVER AGAIN, the manager was rude, refused to take onboard our comments and I have since learnt condones domestic violence. Found a Pube in my dinner, spoke to craig harker who told me to foxtrot oscar off and threatened to have my Mrs beat up, avoid the place and the food tastes like poo, place needs a good clean like harker does, he stinks and doesn't know what a bath is

we saw th efood plastered all over social media and how it's the "meatiest pub in the U.K" so decided to give it a go. Both got Parmos that weren't great. The waiting staff had no idea who ordered what food and came out with dishes asking who's ordered them. Waiting staff were just standing around doing nothing and the chef came out and practically shouted at the staff for some help. Very disorganised establishment. Oh and one last thing, I usually walk past here early in the morning to get to work and they have bags of chips etc just lying on the step.

The people who work here obviously don't give a F about their customers. If you want to enjoy your meal and the time spent in a venue eating it, then stay clear.

We went here on a Saturday afternoon after the lunchtime rush and after hearing good things, we were eager to try the food. There were 4 of us and we only ordered 3 parmos and 1 oap fish and chips. I wasn't told there would be a wait for the food, but wish I had been as we only went for a bite to eat whilst shopping.

We ordered our family dinners for delivery as soon as the pub opened 11.45am. I got told on the phone delivery would be between 60-90 minutes. I rang at 1.40pm to be told our order is out on delivery. Rang at 2.30pm and line constantly engaged or just ringing out. Terrible service. I paid over the phone £25 for two adult dinners and one child. Sat here starving. Ruined our Sunday as we planned to go out afterwards. Food still not here at 3.04pm!!! Seems all they care about is taking people’s money!

this place actully needs shutting down!came here with my 3 year old daughter and partner staff where f'ing and blinding not bothered at all my daughter cpuld hear everything they where saying. overcharged me on receipt and had the old chef who had been fired apparently, coming in out of his face on drugs! starting arguments where there where other kids aswel as mine. food was horrendous paid £40 was the most vile thing iv tasted in all my life that took an hour and a half to come.even though the place was dead! told the staff the food they brough was awful had black burnt greese balls under my chicken. i work in the food industry so i know they havnt cleaned they equipment just re used greesy old pans. they whernt bothered they did not re make my meal refunded it. one of the worse experience ever. im totally discussed. never again. local coucil is getting called because i really dont think this is a safe place to eat at all. defiantly not somewhere you would take your kids. the George you should be appalled at your business and also sack everyone who works for you. totally not acceptable the way they think they can run a business. employing young girls that think everythings a joke and being so vile and rude where children are. please everyone avoid this place because it is a s**t hole.

I happened to be in Stockton and went for lunch here at random. I wish I hadn't bothered. The place has an odd atmosphere and the barman appeared to be spaced out. My latte wasn't entirely pleasant and when I looked closely had little bits in it, I suspect the milk line in the machine hasn't been cleaned through.

Straight to the point, by far the worst pub I’ve been in around Teeside. It’s been done up witch it fine but you don’t go to the pub to admire the paint work. My self and girlfriend and my 1 year old daughter went for Sunday lunch, we got there around dinner time and place was empty (should of been my first clue to it not been good). The young girl behind the bar was nice enough and friendly but not dressed appropriately for a family pub, more like she had just finished a shift at the local men’s club. We ordered two dinners (got a free bowl of veg for my daughter) and when the dinner came it looked amazing to be fair. However when we stated to tuck into the meal we soon discovered it was far from amazing. The mash was pretty much a lump of rock hard potato I had to to re mash my self with my fork. The meat had only just been shown the oven the taste of it as it was cold in the middle and far from cooked right. Yorkshire puddings where Soggy, we paid an EXTRA £2.50 EACH!! For extra roast potatoes and when they came you get 1.... yes 1 extra potato for your £2.50!!!!. The roasties had been cooked a week ago by the taste of them then shoved in the microwave to warm up.

Visited thia establishment today. On entering it looks like a cafe. The waitress only just managed to cover her self with a cropped blouse (too early in the day for the girls to be on show) and wearing jeans and fluffy sliders shuffling as she serves food.

me and my boyfriend visited. Found it extremely hard to find as we are not from Stockton so had to park ages away but at least we know for next time. Ordered a chicken Yorkshire wrap and a garlic parmo, extra ribs, extra onion rings and peppercorn sauce. Was a bit disappointing that our extras came out 15 minutes before our meal so they were stone cold when we wanted them. Meals took just over an hour to arrive but the taste was so worth it. Would come back but would try and pre order as waiting an hour for food when there was only 3 tables in was far too long.

Tables weren’t cleaned properly which set the scene for the rest of the meal. We ordered 4 diet cokes and they were poured into fosters glasses which was kind of ironic as the cokes also tasted of urine. We also ordered food and decided to go with the “famous” parmos, the price of food and drinks is criminal and I was considering filing a police report for theft. The chicken for the parmos must’ve been hand reared from the egg as these took ages to arrive. My friend finally received his and it took another 5 minutes for someone else’s to arrive then a further 5 minutes for another one and another 5 minutes after that for another one, by the time the last one arrived the first person was finished. We ordered garlic with our parmos and that arrived when people had either finished or were half way through, maybe the garlic was some sort of desert or pallet cleaner for the monstrosity we’d been served? Anyways back to the mains, they come looking like they’ve been tossed together by stevie wonder. The parmos came with a side salad and every one had different stuff in it, some kind of pick ‘n mix salad. The first meal came with chips that looked like they’d been cooked with a blow torch. The kebab meat that the meals come with is at least 5 days old, unless it’s some kind of maturing program like what you do with fancy steaks? My order was wrong but by this time I’d given up hope and just wanted to get out so decided to eat it, turns out they don’t wear hairnets and it looked like my food had been platted at the local Turkish barbers, my friend also had a hair growing out of his chip but this could’ve just been because they were weeks old. So my food was left barely touched which was probably a good thing as the nhs are already stretched and having to get my stomach pumped of this mess wouldn’t help save it. So we finish up and I’m looking forward to leaving only to be greeted again by the wonderful sights of Stockton, it has to be seen to be believed.

Visited today for a few drinks and lunch, was a really nice place, staff friendly and ordered the parmo kebab sandwich and my sister ordered caveman ribs. The food was really good. Portions are huge. Will certainly go again for some food and drink.

Visited with my partner and both meals were burnt to the point of cremation and were either dry or greasy. Customer service was non existent. Chips however were okay. Overall a very disappointing experience. Photo of Yorkshire - burnt!

Excellent service and excellent food which is not frozen like some ofther pubs on the high street, will be recommending to family and friends and will be a returning customer. Top marks A++++

Well I'm up in Stockton again, this time to spend my Xmas break at the Don war memorial bar.

I ordered a takeaway today thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt as tried twice before on different occasions and had too cancle because once they apparently run out of meat the next time I was still waiting after 3 hours and yet again I've ordered today at 11.30 was told I would receive my order between 12 and 1pm rang the George got the it will be leaving in 20 mins when I told them I wasn't happy and this was the third time I'd had problem was told quite abruptly that I wasn't the only person who has ordered and we are very busy and was told it's only going too be 35 mins late as if that was perfectly reasonable if they can't meet the times they say then why tell people it going too be their at a specific time in my experience this is the norm and not the exception wouldn't be too be that bad if the food was worth waiting for but that's mediocre at best I'm just going too recommend to give this place a wide birth terrible service bad attitude and average food.

As Stockton seems to shut down at 8 even on a Friday night, pubs stop doing food etc and I didnt5 fancy a Subway for my tea, I thought I'd try The George pin and grill 'Regardless ' of it's poor review's

Just been to the George today , Thought it was supposed to THE place to eat, what a joke , the beef was chewable, the cauliflower was snappable, the turnip was yuk, the roasties were probably yesterday's warmed up . Yorkshire pudding was edible. I gave them the cutlery back because it was filthy, then got a filthy look of waitress. Never again, waste of money.

My boyfriend took me for a meal on a Thursday night for our anniversary. We expected a friendly and quite professional pub. Well, we were wrong. We ordered 2 starters and 2 main. Took more than 30 mins for the food to arrive, then it arrived all together, we even had to ask for cutlery to eat with. It was like having dinner in a friend house. felt so left at side, was horrible. The worse service we ever had. Food mediocre for the price too. No happy at all definitely not coming back.

So straight away upon entering we thought something was a miss. The manager barged past us and all the othet staff just ignored us until i asked where we could sit. A lady opposite us had complained about her fry up, something to do with sausages, however the waitress offered to change it, she later came back and again something was wrong, in the end, the woman left the restaurant. The mrs had a coke which she took back as it tasted like fizzy water. They changed it, same outcome, and again. Until we went with cans of coke. As we were sat, another 3 people complained about the coke. So, food ordered, there was only 2 other couples in at this point. I had a parmo, mrs had lasagne. Took almost an hour to arrive. Waitress took them to wrong table first attempt. They were both overcooked, the lasagne was vile and im not a fussy eater. The mrs left it and ate chips and garlic bread. Was just like grease on a plate. The parmo, edible at best. Dry, chicken had lots of gristle' in places, far from what I expected in the heart of boro.

The place was recommended by a friend so we decided to give it a shot. The menu looked absolutely gorgeous with lots of choice but unfortunately when our food arrived it was either cold, burnt or tasteless. The food was presented well but more attention needs to be paid to the flavour and temperature of the food. Also the service wasn't that great considering we were the only table in the building and the tables were very sticky were they had obviously not been cleaned. We will not be returning unfortunately.

Just got home after our meal in the george, we had a parmo each which was decent but not worth an hour and 20 minute wait. The staff looked like they hated being there! The place is ran terribly. Customers where walking around trying to find cutlery and condiments, cutlery was dirty in the tray and not enough bottles of sauce for each table. Staff were stood talking at the bar while people where clearly sat annoyed waiting for food rather than helping out in the kitchen to get food out! At one point a chef came out of the kitchen eating a triffle whilst customers were still waiting....pretty shocking really. The place has great potential but needs better management and possibly more chefs to get food out in good time. The food was quite nice but i wont be going back....shame really

Went there for a birthday meal waited too long for food ordered food at the bar and waited over an hour for our food food was excellent just waited too long for food waited ages at the bar for drinks as there was no body behind the bar too serve drinks and then all the draught lagers and beers and ciders went off so had to serve me a bottle of lager which was more expensive than the draught lagers couldnt have a sweet as they stoopwd serving food at 8:30 if we had waitwd less than an hour we could have had a sweet not once were we approached by staff to apoligise for our wait in the food and then when we finnaly got our food the waitress didnt know what table we were even tho we had a big number 8 in the middle of our table one star will not be going again and wount be recommending it to any one absmal and shocking

Visited a couple of times, last time I visited was before the refurb, food has always been spot on. However there were too many members of staff sitting around the bar, we were approached on 4 separate times by different members of staff asking us if the food was okay. Maybe the person in charge should order them to do some tidying up etc instead of sitting and making it awkward for us as we were the only people in there.

Went in wi th my sister, who loves her meat. I do not, we both took one look at the menu and walked back out. Nasty owner - don't bother going if you are vegan. As he hates them.

parmo heaven. first class place to get a parmo in the north east of England. we were very happy with the high quality of the food .the chips were fantastic , not oven chips , or French fries , but proper chips , cooked perfect. the portions were large , and I was dying to try a battered , deep fried mars bar , but I was too full. good quality food.

First of all the customer service was shocking very rude staff and slow service. Our food came out with 15 mins between my meal and then my partners I was half way through mine before he got his the food was basic and luke warm even though they big it up on Facebook it's disgusting worst pub I've ever been to!

This is our pub meal takeout we got for £60 from supposedly a highly recommended pub in stockton it states you get salad there was no salad in sight chips were stone cold/stale and our parmos and hunters chicken looked like a pile of sick we waited 3 hours for this and was rang 1 and a half hours after our order was taken to then tell us there was no donner meat in which we had to change 2 of our meals at 10:10 we eventually got our meals we ordered at 7:50 at 11:00

Ordered 2 large Sunday dinners and spent £19.80, they come they were cold the meat was horrible one of the dinners didn't have any mash on and very little gravy and the roast potatoes were not soft, terrible value. That's the first time I've ordered from them and it will be the last. It was a huge disappointment for Mother's Day.

Went here with a few friends for my birthday and I was deflated from the moment I walked in. Not what you expect when you see all the posts and all the hype, just a dirty pub. Went to the bar and they didn't have most drinks on, no ice and no lemon/lime slices. We reserved a table and expected a table to be there for us but it wasn't. Had to sit on a table that wasn't clean and very cramped. What's the point in reserving a table if you do nothing with it ? Anyway my kebab sandwich came and it looked great. Chips were cold to start but I'm not one to make a fuss, the kebab in-between the Parmos was microwaved frozen crap. I was gutted. The parmos were actually quite nice but when I got to the bottom I found two bones in it, which is unusual considering it's supposed to be breast. The garlic sauce was just crap from the bottle, i can't enjoy a parmo without sauce and it was woeful. They couldn't offer me a refund but offered a free drink & desert, so I got a peroni to go. It needs gutting out and re doing. Dirty carpets, food & napkins on the floor. I don't think I'll be returning, but thanks for ruining my birthday !

Went in as was feeling hungry went for there all youbcan eat breakfast and following day for lunch for one of there hotshot parmos both were freshly prepared very tasty and lived the challenge that I won as there hot sauce isn't that hot. Will be back again as since tried have become a regular customer thoroughly enjoyed and reccommend

I thought I would go in and have my dinner. Had a lovely Parmesan. The staff are nice. They also checked if my food was ok. very nice Parmesans in the george.

Of course if I'd found this out before visiting then I wouldn't have bothered. The food itself is okay - if a little expensive. The main issue with this place is the atmosphere. It's dark and in a pretty poor state of decor - it's desperately in need of a lick of paint.

Food was lovely! I couldn't eat all mine - I don't even think I managed half but this was only because the portions were so large! You definitely won't leave feeling hungry. I'd love to give the place 5 stars but we had an hours wait even though the place wasn't busy at all. I would probably visit again though.

Called into the George whilst in Stockton shopping for our Sunday lunch and was very impressed by both the food and service. The beef and veg were all fresh and very tasty with a lovely thick gravy.Young lad who served behind the bar very polite and helpful,would definitely recommend and will be back

We have visited quite a few times for lunch and this was our first time visiting on the evening. Went with a group of friends as have enjoyed the previous visits.

Visited for the first time for lunch with a friend, the decor is a little dated and could do with a make over. Had to wait quite a while for our meals even though it was not busy. The portions were very generous although a little pricey, but the food arrived hot and we both enjoyed our meals. The pumps for the soft drinks was out of order and apparently had been for 3 weeks, overall could do with a bit of TLC. Staff helpful and friendly.

Menu is interesting just a shame it can't live up to it. Prices are expensive for the location and quality. A kids meal and a burger took 45 minutes with no apology. It wasn't even particularly busy. Watched other people's meals come before ours even though we ordered before them. Didn't taste worth the money.

Well we're do I start the food it's ok nothing to shout about. Ok customer service. The real let down is how long u have to wait for ur food and then when it came it was burnt. My wife's meal tasted like the food was off and didn't taste right. Last time I came here for a meal.

I went to The George to treat my family for a nice meal. I must say We all enjoyed the food. Also It was definitely a bargain as I was quite lucky to take advantaged of the Pound Parmo Monday lol and the two for ten meals :). Anyway The only downside was the waiting time but it could be the fact it was very busy. Overall I would visit again and highly recommend.:D

So my friend and I with our little boys came here for food. At first I thought the bar was a little worse for wear but I'd heard the food was nice.. we both opted for parmo when we got to the bar we noticed a leaflet for 5/6 different things for £1 each so instead of paying £7 for a half portion of parmo we got the mini parmo and chips for £2 wow it came and it was quite big and very tasty very impressed. downside was the bathroom was awefull, smelly one broken toilet with the door open and the other was a little worse for wear. Overall great value for the food but bathroom could be better

Went to The George for tea with friends and our children, really enjoyed the food, the kids were happy and the Parmo's were absolutely delish.

Waited over an hour for a parmo then when it came they got our order wrong.. will definitly not 're visit

My cousin booked a table for four people. Her family treat for us. I ordered half a Guiness for my mother. I was told ' We can't serve half a Guiness '. I wanted a Real Ale but there were none so I had John Smiths - ok but not good. Then, my cousin was given a small bottle of white wine ....the only wine left. With the lack of natural light - feels like a corridor - and uncomfortable table - ......we went elsewhere.

Took my wife and daughter here for lunch today. We all came away very full and very impressed with the quality of the fare. The parmos were to die for, lovely home made chips and my daughter was blown away by the Yorkshire pudding kebab wrap. Couldn't do this too often but a real treat.

This had to be one if the best parmo's I have had I had an original and my son had meat monster, there must be 1/2 a page of parmo's so go along and try something different. If you like a challenge they have plenty to choose from

Wow 1st visit to this place for a bite to eat. Won't be our last. Food was spot on and the portions..huge. had a Gladiator parmo man was it tasty. Definitely recommend

Came across this Offer one Monday lunchtime. Too good to be true I though but not so. £1 for Parmo, £1 for chips and £1 for salad. Two meals and two diet cokes for around £8. Parmo is a small one but perfect lunchtime size, chips are homemade and salad was lovely. Yeah the decor in the pub could definitely be improved but food can't be criticised at all. Saying that I have only had the Parmo so can't really comment on the rest of the menu.
