Poor choice of ales and not made to feel welcome, landlord doesn’t make an effort to get to know the regulars and is in danger of alienating the few they have

It was a great place but these days you get the vibe no one wants you there you will be stood waiting at the bar for 5 minutes and no staff will be in sight and then they act surprised to see you trying to buy a drink and i just get the feeing the customers are a burden making the staff have to appear and actually do there job and the hygiene of the place isnt the best under the tables is dirty like no one has cleaned under there in weeks over all just bring back the old land lord she actually had a clue what she was doing

I wish you could put a zero star the new owners don't now how to clean the pub is filthy,6 weeks now there has been food still under the tables and the windows and door are covered in mucky hand marks and so are the toilets it was never like this with the previous owners, having to wait over 20 minutes to be served at the bar when there is only 4 people in the pub there is never anyone at the bar. As for the drinks you can guarantee there will be a very high chance you get line cleaner in your drink let alone a clean glass

Beer was excellent and food tasty and great value.

So we went for food this evening; my OH had the roast beef (Sunday dinner), and I tried the prawn and mango curry. The service was spot on, the food was lovely - oh and the beer was good too. I would definitely recommend paying Dennis and the team a visit, as I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

RockinWarren played live at the Gauntlet last night. When we arrived there were families enjoying food, there were friends having drinks. The venue is a heart of the community type of public house serving food, drinks and providing entertainment. We really enjoyed playing at the pub, the clientele were very friendly. The staff were nice, the pub clean including the toilets. I would recommend any band or artist to play here if they get a chance. Anyone living in Kenilworth this place is a must, a place that deserves support from the local commnity. We hope to back playing at the Gauntlet in 2024. Thank you for having us

Great local Kenilworth pub with a brilliant outdoor area.

We had a family gathering at The Gauntlet last week, arranged at short notice but this was no problem for Elliot and his staff who were so helpful and very accommodating. The venue was ideal, the buffet was great and very good value, catering for all tastes. Nothing was too much trouble and we all had an enjoyable afternoon.

Used to be a decent pub just a couple of years ago but it went downhill really quickly. Atmosphere isn’t great and the Guinness tasted horrible. I used to love this place but I won’t be coming back regularly

Very disappointed with the gauntlet today. I went with friends for Sunday lunch. 2 of our party ordered beef and it was tough and inedible. I have previously enjoyed food there but something has gone seriously wrong. They need to improve this quickly. They did rectify the situation as we asked for a burger but I was seriously embarrassed in front of my friends.

i brought my children and grandchildren here for sunday lunches and there were absolutely no faults at all. The lunches were an amazing portion and presented beautifully. The kids were catered for amazingly by the staff and kept entertained with games. Will definitely be returning more on sundays , thank you gauntlet X

Came here for some late lunch during the week and it was the best lunches we have had for a while. Food came out in quick timing with great portions. Staff were also extremely friendly and were helpful with bar choices. The pub itself had a happy atmosphere with games for the kids with good seating for the family. Would definitely recommend, thank you :)

Food overpriced relative to the quality. Lasagne burnt and of negligible portion size. Barmaid rude when issue raised but did try to redeem the situation by deducting cost from the bill.

Ordered lasagne was the smallest lasagne I have ever had and it was dry and more like rubber. When my husband informed the server she said I will sort it out , cost was £12.50 wasn't even worth £4.50. I informed her that several other lasagnes had come out and they were filled to the top and her reply was the dishes are different sizes which was a complete untruth they all came out in the same size. She said I could have a free drink but that was all, I informed her I didn't want a drink but wouldn't be returning, her answer good, okay. Somebody really needs to send her on a customer service course as she has no good qualities. When we asked for the bill she did deduct the lasagne , but only after telling an untruth and terrible customer service. Would not recommend and definitely not going back.

It was a nice pub and the roast was good but I would not recommend the other food. Service was quite long but nice staff.

At least the bears got better since it's been taken over

Delightful experience at the Gauntlet for dinner this evening!! I enjoyed the fish and chips totally recommend!! Service was excellent. They offer great value for money. Can’t recommend them highly enough. The new outdoor space is also a winner in this lovely weather. Thanks guys you are doing a great job x

Spent the afternoon here celebrating our dad's 80tg birthday. Buffet laid on was superb and so big that we all had to take some home! Staff were really friendly and helpful, felt like nothing was too much trouble. The place looks great and the outside is spot on! This place deserves to be rammed every day! On Saturday I went done for a drink with some mates. During which the young lady with light brown hair on the bare was extremely helpful and kind. During the night she sang at the karaoke which was very inviting and enjoyable. The only down side was the food. I feel like it could have been better but overall we enjoyed the night.

Revisted initially for a couple of drinks in the new outside space. We saw some burgers come out which looked fab so stayed for a bite to eat. They were lovely, salad nice and fresh, chips hot and we were served quickly. All in all a good day out... Particularly like the bits and bobs they have for the kids such as puzzles

No staff, food seemed canned, double potatoes back, half the menu missing and lack of beer choice. Yet relaunch started so well. Manager a bit arrogant and sees to have bitten off more than he can chew.

Came here for a nice day out. Ordered meals not one came out right. they had nothing in the pub basic food but with no salads side orders with main meal, which it should’ve came out with , Also a lot of the food was overcooked and very basic. and they totally got the drinks wrong.Basics no vinegar, no red sauce. No salad cream very poor also person be on the bar didn’t know what he’s doing, tables dirty fag ash all over the place and ants on the table due to not being wiped stay away and overpriced !!!!!!!!!!!!

Pub - Liked it a lot. Large, open plan, built in the 1960s but refurbished I'd say about ten years ago. Pool table, TVs for sport, ok bathrooms. Mix of high and low tables. Staff - Friendly enough. Decent staffing levels. Service slightly slow but wouldn't put me off going again. Food & Drink - I had cheese burger and my brother had vegetarian Thai curry. Menu limited but not so small it put us off. My dish was slightly over priced for what it was but my brothers was really tasty. Cider and beer we had were well kept. N.B. The "Who did you go with" question on here has changed and is stupid. None of the options suit me and wouldn't for millions of people. I didn't go as a couple, a family with teens, with friends, on business or on my own. Stupid.

We were staying in Kenilworth for the night with our teenage kids and two dogs and were looking for somewhere to eat. Based on the positive reviews we read online and because The Gauntlet was pet friendly we ended up eating here for our evening meal. Every aspect of our experience was superb. The guys working there were very friendly and welcoming. The food was absolutely first class and very reasonably priced, especially considering what some of the restaurants were charging more in the centre of town just a couple of minutes away. All four of us enjoyed every crumb and the portion sizes were very generous. The landlord was telling me he has only recently taken over and has plans for pizza ovens to expand the menu. I am sure the future will be very bright for him and the team and next time we are in town we will be back.

Lovely food and a great place to go for mother's day. Elliot certainly went the extra mile to make it a special day with a rose for every mother and brilliant service. Would highly recommend.

So we stop in Kenilworth and went to the Gauntlet for an evening meal we arrived just before 5pm when they start food service. But the bar staff gave us a menus and put the order through for us. When got our drinks quickly after this and didn’t wait long for the food my wife ordered the lasagna and I tried the hickory bbq burger. Both were really good I would have said perfect but I had requested no salad or coleslaw and received coleslaw. While having it on the plate didn’t ruin the meal in the slightest it stopped this being the best. I highly recommend this place still staff are friendly and it has a local pub feel. I would suggest a new mop for cleaning as there is a strange smell otherwise nothing but praise for the place.
