Dirty, inattentive staff, roast beef was appalling, well over cooked & tough as boots, won’t be going back. My friend told me that the toilets were dirty, so I did not go

We called in advance to make a booking as a mid-drive roast stop on our way from Brighton to Manchester, but when we turned up they had no record of it. However the employees who served us were very accommodating and found us an empty table anyway. Me and my partner both ordered the chicken roast, and OH my god it was one of the best roast dinners we've both ever had!! I'm a chef who has been tortured by making roast dinners of varying quality over the years, so am admittedly quite fussy when it comes to eating roast dinners outside of the home. The roast chicken here was delicious though - crispiest entire 1/2 of a chicken, with the softest most flavoursome roasties you can imagine. Even the root veggies and green veg felt a valid part of the dish. Left totally stuffed and happy. The customer service was great too, all round a lovely vibe

Staff were lovely and chatty, didnt have food this time but have few times before and cant fault it, very tasty and quick service, Atmosphere was as expected on a Wednesday evening. Love that its dog friendly and that they have treats available on the bar for the furry friends 😊

Really good atmosphere and dog friendly. Perfect location too being in central Leamington…but the food quality has dropped over the past year and now seems over priced for what you get.

Buzzing, dog friendly, good honest food, great choices all round

We have been to the Fat Pug before and had a lovely experience. This time though the whole affair was very bad. For a starter, we had to ask for someone to take our order as we were waiting for quite a while. Staff at that point were not busy at all. Another thing that spoiled the experience for us was one of the ladies who were serving us. She had an awful cold and couldn't stop sneezing. At some point she cleaned her nose with the palm of her hand! Ok, I understand that people need to work and business has to keep going as usual, but use a tissue and don't sneeze all the time in front of the customers. Or go to another room... My wife and I ordered a roast dinner and a burger. My roast dinner came in the form of a soup, literally swimming in gravy. Everything soggy and disgusting. I asked for someone to empty some of the gravy, which they did, but everything still looked very soggy. The lady with the cold didn't even apologise. My wife's burger turned out that it was half-cooked with raw pieces of meat in it (photo attached)!!! We took the plate to the other girl who worked there and she was very polite, apologised and said that we didn't have to pay anything, which we appreciated a lot considering that the whole experience was abysmal. The only thing that was positive from the visit was that girl. She was polite, sympathetic and proffessional throughout. She deserves a massive praise from the owner of the business. The other woman, was rude and her behaviour disgusting (please use a tissue next time...).

About to move to this area, a great pub to have as my new local. Great beer choices, great service and atmosphere. Can't wait to move 😁

Decent atmosphere and good service, however the two pizzas we had here were very disappointing. The pug pubs in Leamington are usually associated with good food, however both pizzas were undercooked, one was just drenched in BBQ sauce, the other was meant to be pulled chicken, which it was not. It’s a shame, because the pub itself is nice.

Five of us had food Kids really enjoyed it My wife and myself thought the food was fantastic and the staff as well

their burgers are good and their roasts are decent too, would recommend the chicken roast.

First visit and it was a pleasent surprise. Service was quick and friendly and the food tasted amazing! Quite pricey but worth it for decent food. The decor and atmosphere of The Fat Pug is great the whole place felt lively and positive. We will definitely be visiting again. Onto the next Pug Pub on our Pug Crawl!

Great for lunch. I took my mum for her birthday and we both had the award winning pies served with mash and seasonal vegetables. It was absolutely delicious and thoroughly deserving of their awards. Service was quick and friendly.

The area around the bar can get pretty busy so instead of risking spillage the staff offered to bring the beer to my table. Although I'm not a local (yet) I just felt so welcomed. The food is amazing, the pies are deep and full I really recommend, beer amazing, with a great choice of craft ales, atmosphere really nice and relaxed. A good mix of traditional English pub and modern comfort.

Daughter studies in Leam & her flat is a 5 min walk from here. We booked & glad we did! This pub has a really nice atmosphere - we had our dog with us & there were several others. The candles & low lighting made it feel so cosy & staff were really welcoming. Food was fantastic....unfortunately we missed the specials board & didnt realise til after we had eaten. Would we return? Most definitey

My wife and I have been looking forward to coming down to Warwickshire to do the pug pub experience. We decided to start in the Fat Pug for some dinner before setting off to visit the other pug pubs in the area. Unfortunately, the food quality serviced to us was below our expectations. We had high hopes of some good pub grub here after reading reviews and scanning their menu, but we were let down by ridiculously bland, greasy food. For instance, you could literally pour 2 shot glasses of grease from a dish I ordered. The gravy tasted burnt (who burns gravy), and everything seemed overcooked. Overall, we were very disappointed. Staff were very friendly and the pub itself was nice. ** Just be mindful of their hidden 10% service charge (aka tip) written in the very small print of their menus. ** they take payment first and don't give you a receipt, nor do they tell you verbally either.. on top of there included 20% VAT.. Very naughty!

Maybe I should have had the roast but I chose the fish & chips. The fish wasn't very fresh and the batter was stodgy and not cooked well. Similarly the chips were rather oily and disappointing.

Very disappointed to be hit with a 10% surcharge. And not informed before we ordered our food. My fish and chips was very small fish 😞

We have lived in Leamington for ten years and visited this gastropub for the first time last night for date night. We went for pie and mash and what can I say, every morsel was delicious, full of flavour, great taste, the vegetables were flavoursome and the gravy plentiful. This place has a really relaxing atmosphere, and the staff strike the perfect balance of attentiveness and relaxed poise. We were served by a great gentleman, so personable without being over the top, I didn't get his name, but he had a great head of red hair. We aren't fans of dogs (booooo I know) so I had to dig deep and ignore man's best friend sniffing my boots as I walked by, also if you're a 6 footer like we are the seating area is a little tight but we could happily ignore that for the delicious food and atmosphere we encountered during our visit. As long as they keep serving food to that standard, we will be back, again and again and again!

Spent my 40th birthday here, they were really friendly and accommodating. Dog friendly and the Sunday dinner was excellent. Good selection of drinks very chilled atmosphere.

Dropped in for an in-promptu lunch on a Saturday. Plenty of tables available, with a nice, relaxed feel to the place. The burgers are well worth trying, although we had to wait around 50 minutes for the food to arrive at the table. We were advised that they were short staffed in the kitchen. The food was well worth the wait though.

Sadly not good food, also quite pricey and very slow service for a quiet lunchtime. I had scampi which was burned and rock hard. Chips were nice but quite a small portion. Bar staff were excellent very helpful and attentive, but not enough to bring me back I’m afraid.

A group of us was booked in for lunch. All meals had been pre-ordered. The main course took over an hour to be delivered and mine was cold with soggy roast potatoes by the time I got it. We will be voting with our feet.

Went on a Sunday for a roast, and they had run out. We ordered what they had left and it took them almost an hour to deliver 2 salads and some fish and chips. When we complained we didn't get an apology. 85 quid wasted.

We were on a canal holiday and googled pubs within walking distance so glad we did 20 mins and we were in a friendly local pub with great atmosphere and the food was delicious very attentive staff would highly recommend

Lovely, relaxing, welcoming family pub

One of the worst meals I’ve ever had. I ordered the special - pork belly with a side of beans. The pork was not pork belly, the fat was chewy and it was served on a bowl of tinned baked beans. I was not asked how the meal was despite almost all of it remaining on the plate. Definitely not worth £12 for what is essentially a bowl of tinned baked beans with a piece of pork loin. It’s a shame as I have previously had food at the pug which has been great.

We visited here recently and sat in the beer garden… it’s a very trendy bar with a fab outside space . The staff were lovely and the food was good. I had the fish and chips which was ok. I’ve had worse but I’ve had better. My husband had like a Chinese rice dish which was quite tasty. The pizzas looked amazing tho and they had quite a few deals on different days of the week ie two burgers for one etc

We had an amazing time celebrating my birthday at the Fat Pug. We booked the upstairs room, along with some extra tables downstairs, and got the buffet menu for 35 people. The food was delicious, there was plenty of it, and the staff were amazingly helpful and pleasant.

I popped in here for lunch while in Leamington on business, and was very impressed. A very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, pleasant staff, and the best pizza I've eaten in years.

This being my first time going, on arrival I went to the bar to ask them about my booking, and where abouts we were located. The dark red haired lady beind the bar was rude and told me there is knowhere for us, yet we booked in advance and got a conformation, she didn't offer any alternative, she walked away and ignored my friend and myself. So we decided to go and find a free table which hadn't been booked. She was not welcoming pr helpful at all. Wasn't even busy on arrival so stress isn't a reason. She puts me off on returning. We will see. Food was lovely though, so big thumbs up to the chiefs!!!

Nice pub, dog and baby friendly (although the changing area leaves a lot to be desired) food was decent and they rectified any issues we had without any questions or hesitation.

Food was good only thing was the service charge. We were told on presentation of the bill 6.00 service charge., it can be removed we were told but she didn’t seem happy about it when we asked it to be. It’s in the smallest print on the menu about the charge. For a small pub that doesn’t do silver service seemed rather extreme.

Own my experience, good food, and service, though noted service charge applies. Shame not clean, window edges just by the entrance table covered in dust, table wasn't clean covered from candle wax probably from night before. Cob webs top of windows.

Been in the fat pug today a family group of 7 and 2 dogs. Excellent staff very friendly and the food was great 😊 hopefully returning for the pug world record attempt in October

Had a meal with family for mother's Day has. Cold soup and when it returned it was hot they got one meal round and when the waiter give me my main he was sarcastic and put my meal down and said ho iv burnt my finger on the hot gravy not happy so did not eat mine but the other said it's not bad but not worth the money if waiter roat down what we whonted it mite of been better will not recommend it very rood

Very busy pub, dog friendly. Warm welcome from bar staff. Luckily, we had booked a table. The wings were delicious. Sadly,chicken burger, not so much. A little dry and the dill in the gherkins overpowered the taste of everything. I didn't mention it, as it was edible and we were on a tight timescale. Hubby's burgers was good so we're the chips. Loos were clean.

Terrible dinner, gravy was like water. Vegetables were not cooked. Very good Yorkshire pudding, although easiest thing to cook. £58 for 2 people, would have been happy if it was worth eating. Friendly staff and fast service.

Superb family lunch during the festive season. VERY fair prices excellent service. Having a private room for our party of 12 was just great. Wide selection of food on the menu beautifully cooked.

A 4.5 in practice. Lovely staff, decent food enjoyed by the whole party, and a nice mix of clientele. A little pricey for some of the drinks but perhaps just a sign of the times. And dog friendly (as one would expect), especially if you have a pug!

What a fabulous Team!!! I contacted the Fat Pug on recommendation from my Mum, I had planned a friends and family gathering and the team at the Fat Pug couldn’t have been more helpful. We had food upstairs, tables downstairs, ice buckets on the tables, nothing was too much trouble for this team, all being managed by Justin. The food was fantastic, the quality, variety, presentation was top notch nosh!!! Service all day from 3pm until 10:30 was faultless, this team had a pub to run, doing food and my gathering added another 31 guests to this already trading venue. Can’t recommend it enough and we’re looking to book again for next year. Thank you Fat Pug Team for making our gathering so special

Fantastic food. We shared 3 small plates each for £15 excellent value for money. Very well cooked and well presented. Very friendly guys behind the bar nothing was to much effort. Even my dog got her own drink. Can’t wait to come back again thank so much!!

Lively, good atmosphere, enjoyed the food

It was my husbands 60th and I wanted a sit down meal for 16 people so chose the Fat Pug as it had a small private room upstairs. We had a great time. It was very cosy and the staff were very attentive. Thanks again to the Fat Pug team.

If you like cold food, poor and slow service ,ignorant staff who don't even look at you when seving the food just put it on the table to sort out yourself ,dirty cutlery and did not know what a steak knife is then this is the the for you if its not what you want then stay well away from the Fat Pug Leamington Spa

Our son started uni in September and this was the first time we had seen him. I booked The Fat Pug as I understood we would get a good Sunday roast and certainly my son (and the rest of us) were really looking forward to it. Our table was at 3pm. I was reminded a few times that if we were more than 15 minutes late our table could be given to someone else. We arrived on time and when we were seated were told there was no more roast beef. We were disappointed, especially as there were only a selection of two roast dinners on the menu, one beef, one chicken. We ordered four drinks (two of the drinks were wrong) and ordered our meal - four roast chicken dinners, with calamari and nachos to start. About 15 minutes later the chef came out of the kitchen and started complaining to our waitress (we just happened to be seated near the kitchen stairs), our waitress came over and told us unfortunately there were only three roast chicken dinners left!!!!! My advice if you are booking this restaurant for Sunday lunch, book an EARLY sitting, or there will be nothing left. Ps: our starters and main came out together after we had waited at least 50 minutes. Poor, poor, poor.
