Dined in, sitting at one of the tables. Fresh tasting cod and good chips. Crispy batter. Courteous and friendly staff. There’s a small extra charge for dining in (menu in the photo is the dine-in menu). Fish in the photo is a large sized cod. Would recommend 👍

It’s a shame having to write this as we usually are very happy with the fish and chips here. But this evening had to dump the entire order in the bin. Could be because we watched 2 or 3 people come in after us and walk out with their order before us. We were the last to get ours, turned out we received soggy chips and fish fried in dirty refried oil.

Had a lovely portioned cod and chips. The fish looked golden and had a really good taste. Will visit again when around the area!

The fish and chips was delicious. We had the haddock and cod. Very fresh. Would certainly go back again. Our server/cook/cashier is very friendly and polite.

I've been to TGFB together with my wife and my niece in September because my wife thought it to be sort of mandatory to have F&C during our stay in London. And, oh, how right she was! You guys are doing an amazing job, the fish was tender and tasty on the inside and very, very crispy outside. The chips were just delicious. You can get every conceivable kind of food and dishes here in Munich. But I seriously doubt I'd find F&C as good as yours over here if I tried. We'll make sure we'll visit TGFB again next time we go to London.

Went in to have fish and chips on Monday 11th after seeing the Christmas lights in Kew Gardens what a fantastic end to the day great service, wonderful food and a lovely seating area well done 👏

This is the first visit. I received a small haddock, large plaice and large chips. I was very satisfied with the size, quantity, and taste. The store was clean and tidy, and I felt very safe. This is definitely a repeat.

We use 'The Garden' about 3-4 times per month and have a large haddock and large cod plus chips. They never let you down and are very fresh and well worth the 7 minutes wait whilst the fish is cooked fresh. Very clean and the staff are very kind. I had trouble restarting my car a few weeks ago and they even offered me a jump start, how is that for service.

I seriously love my fish and chips and this was hands down the best fish and chips I’ve ever had in my life. Everything was completely made to order and boy was it worth the wait. The batter was so crispy but not greasy and the fish was so juicy and succulent in the middle. It was literally cooked to perfection. The chips were amazing too. Not to crispy and not to soggy. A perfect blend and you can tell they use really good potatoes. Really friendly service in lovely little area. Just a shame I don’t live closer as would be here every Friday! Highly recommend!!

First time trying and the food was fantastic! The batter on the cod is light and crispy, the chips are nice and none of the food felt greasy/soggy. Generous portion sizes, the 'small' cod is large enough, the large cod is a small cod + two smaller pieces of cod. Large chips enough for two people to share. The only thing to improve is the queuing system, it was a bit chaotic with staff shouting out everyone's orders on a busy Friday night. This could easily be solved by giving people a ticket number or even asking for a name! Overall 5/5, clean establishment and excellent food. Highly recommended

The best fish and chips in London. Fish delivered fresh each day from Grimsby, they only every use Maris Piper potatos and their frying oil is cleaned/replaced regularly. The potatos are selected at the market for low water content (they do not rupture when frying and get oily), low sugar content (they do not brown unevenly) and high starch (great taste). The chip frying is 2 stage. Regular oil temperature to cook chips through, high final heat oil to finish with dry and crispy outer. I have been a customer for 25 years, they have maintained their exceptional quality. Orders take apporx 8 minutes since they are all separately freshly fried from raw products. Eat in for the best super fresh crispy and tasty experience.

After a visit to Kew Gardens visited this fantastic Fish and Chip place. It's only a short walk from Kew and Kew Tube Station. Highly rated in reviews but totally deserved, was not disappointed Fish was perfectly cooked and juicy. Also had cod roe which was also lovely and fresh. They do have a few tables outside - I was sat there waiting for the order to be freshly cooked and the very polite guy in there brought mine out on a plate! The price was similar or cheaper than home in Norfolk at somewhere like Wells next Sea - not 'London prices' and was actually a large piece of fish, good value for money.

As a Brit travelling through the UK having lived abroad for the last six years this was a really treat. Great chips, great fish and lovely accomplishments. A taste of home when I’m just about to leave again, perfect job.

Hands down the best Fish and Chips I’ve ever had. I had the Cornish Pasty which is not industrialised, but looks and tastes home made, deliciously seasoned and fresh. The Cod was the most flaky, juicy with super crispy crust and the chips were on the same level, chunky and soft on the inside but crispy on the outside. They made it to order and nothing was left sitting on the counter. I more than 100% recommend it. They seem to be a family business and have very good customer service, very attentive and quick. The space is sweet and yes, it could have a bit more to the decor but at the end of the day, the food and service is what matter the most, and they definitely excel! The large Cod portion is massive, they put a whole fillet + another chunky piece, with loads of chips.

Sat outside in the sunset with my crispy and flavoursome scampi, perfectly cooked cod and chips that was recognisably from a potato (a rare one nowadays). The guys who run the place are great and friendly too. What more do you want from a local chippy?

Best fish & chips I have had in a while… do check it out if you are in the area. Very polite staff, clean dining area (and toilets) and very fast service! Everything is cooked from scratch, hence you know that all of the ingredients are fresh! The bar has an outdoor and indoor seating areas, but on this occasion we had a take away. Food came properly packaged to arrive home still hot and oh my! It was delicious and very reasonably priced. Portions are very big, even small cod was big enough to feed a grown up men! This is my favourite chippie. The fish is cooked to perfection: juicy, and succulent on the inside with a golden crispy batter. And the chunky, traditional chips are just perfect too. I am an old-fashioned cod and chips man, and I haven't found better. The portion size is very satisfying, even for a glutton like me, and the service is friendly from what is obviously a family-run business. They do have tables but I think 99% of their business is take away. Highly recommended.

I found this place by accident - after a long day at the National Archives, I needed refuelling before heading home. They served a filling portion of excellent fish and chips (a "small" was more than I could eat). And they let me sit and eat it at a table in the shop (which was a mercy because it was cold outside and I had nowhere else to eat except the train station). If you are in the area, then pay them a visit!

We stayed at the Premier Inn in Richmond and walked here to buy fish and chips for our tea. You can sit in to eat your food. We found it was cooked freshly for us. The batter was the nicest we have had - so crispy. A very clean place with pleasant staff. We would visit again.

The garden fish bar is essentially beyond improvement. It is in my opinion the best fish and chip shop in London, and it may very well be the best shop in London. Of course there is pure culinary perfection here, juicy fish encased in a crunchy batter with piles of chips to feed a family, but it is really the cultural impact of this restaurant that brings it to a superlative level that few establishments have ever reached. If you visit here at 6.30pm on a damp Friday in autumn you can find the atmosphere of the Christmas morning of your dreams. Queues of expectant diners snake out the door, each one representing a greater number of hungry mouths awaiting their return home. Fish and chips is a great social leveller - the garden fish bar is in the middle of one of the most affluent neighborhoods on earth but customers are as likely to arrive on a bicycle as in a Bentley. The experience of a social camraderie that crosses the usual boundaries of social class, age and background as you stand on the pavement watching your dinner fry is worth the price of the food alone. The extremely limited chalkboard menu is perfect, the dated black and white decor is perfect, the HMRC-infuriating "cash preferred" sign on the till is perfect, the food itself is perfect, there is literally nothing I would change about this restaurant. For a truly flawless Friday in London you could walk around Kew gardens in the rain, go to the Tap on the Line for 5-8 pints of Frontier, then come here for a festival of fat and carbs. An icon.

Nice staff, seemed very clean. Food cooked to order. Fish was nice, but had skin on cod.... Maybe its a South thing, but didn't like it so lost a star. Tasted fine... Chips... Too many... And I did not like as felt like ovan chips

Lack lustre experience where you pay for every single thing that is put on your plate separately, pay extra for the privilege of eating in, and the food was BORING and TASTELESS. Such a pity, as the atmosphere was nice, and they fry it all fresh, but fail in making it memorable taste-wise

Good food freshly cooked to order

Freshly fried fish and chips. We ordered two small pieces of small Cod fillets and had to wait 10 minutes for them to fry it. We arrived there a few minutes after opening of the shop. We were soo surprised when the order came because the “small” piece of fish was easily 30 centimeters long! The fish was thick and tasty!

We have had the fish and chips from here multiple times and are consistently happy with the quality. The prices for eating in are significantly more expensive for the same portion sizes, and doesn't really reflect the additional service provided, this is the reason for 4 stars.

Wow excellent popped in today for a battered sausage chips and curry sauce. Everything made to ordered friendly service and the food was top notch tasted very clean. You can tell they care about their products. Will definitely recommend..

Decent enough fish - nice and hot, crisp. But a "small" chips is enough for 4 people.. Like a kilogram of chips. It was kind of ill-making. I hate wasting food but I couldn't eat a tenth of them. Had I known I would have just stayed with a piece of fish and saved £2.80 - in effect I threw away £3. Staying in a hotel so no fridge. I couldn't eat the full portion of "small" cod either. And I'm a 6', 200 lb guy.

Not bad at all. It's not cheap, but then in Kew I would not expect it to be. The fish is nice; the chips are very good.
