I loved the area the prawn crackers were amazing unfortunately the music may have been a bit annoying the rest of it very good with a statue the best prawn crackers in Wales

An amazingly welcoming, friendly place to stay . Sandra makes you feel like a star and gave great advice about places to visit and transport options. The room was clean and comfortable. The location was perfect, 2 minutes walk from the train station and on the high Street. We ate at the restaurant because Sandra was so wonderful and because we were curious . The food was delicious and beautifully presented and the flower tea is magical. Sandra's dessert recommendation was also spot on. Can't recommend enough, thanks Sandra!

Am absolutely fantastic evening celebrating the chinese new year of the dragon. A warm welcome from the beautiful family. Food was outstanding, faultless, so tasty, fresh and plentiful.. Excellent service. They work so hard to deliver such a high standard. 10 out of 10 A star ++++

We visited as a family of 6 adults and 3 children. Every dish we had was perfectly cooked and really tasty, to be honest I'd say this was the best Chinese meal I've ever had. We all really enjoyed our meals and gave top marks. Definitely will return.

In my opinion, this place offers the best Chinese food in the city and is one of the best restaurants in general. The atmosphere is extremely welcoming and the hospitality is very warm and friendly; the food is exceptional (in particular the salt and pepper chicken wings). I've been here a few times and always had a fantastic experience - I recommend it highly to anyone that will listen. To my shame, I lived in Bangor for years before dining here. If I were to complain, I would say that the beer is too expensive - other than that I think it is good value. It is not cheap, but is certainly not over-priced.

A group of 11 booked a table for an evening meal, we booked in advance and provided our food options, so cooking time was perfect. The starters and main course was very good, we didn't have dessert. The service from Sandra and her colleagues was excellent, we will definitely be back.

It's been a few years since we have had a meal at the Garden Hotel and as always it didn't disappoint! Food made fresh to order and was delicious, plenty of choice to suit everyone and their coffee was delicious not the usual cheap machine tasting stuff you get at most restraunts. The staff were polite, attentive and couldn't do enough for us. They knew the menu well as it had changed a little since our last visit and were ready to answer any questions we had regarding the food. Can't wait to return again soon

We love this little gem!! It is always the meal that makes our holiday. You are made to feel like one of the family as soon as you walk in. The service is second to none, the food is as always consistently excellent, always well presented and tastes fab. As for the gluten free options we have never seen so much gluten free choice anywhere. Once again thanks to Sandra and co for a great night out. Can't wait for our summer visit!

We had booked a table with the intention of eating very traditional Chinese food. Unfortunately this was not to be, we found the portions to be very small and definitely aimed at the British taste buds and unfortunately did not fit the brief. The service on the other hand, found us well attended.

Booked in last minute as stopping close by. Service & staff were great and food was lovely. Good size portions. Only thing that could of been better was if they could of accommodated the meal I wanted - I asked for chicken in black pepper sauce rather than fillet. The reason why they couldn't was it was too busy, personally it didn't look busy & I felt as if it was an easy swap. I would still recommend.

I came here tonight with my daughter, sister and my niece. We had a lovely evening, ordered our usual dishes and recommended some to my sister (first time dining here). She is a very fussy eater and cannot eat too much spice. We ordered the crispy chicken is peking sauce for her and asked for it to be made very mild. She loved it so much we have already planned the next trip here. Everything is freshly made to order and nothing is too much trouble for the chefs and the staff that work here.

Very bland food. Chips were undercooked. Rice were definitely not done on a wok. Lady taking order kept emphasising the fact everything’s homemade which made her prices a little more justifiable however i wont be eating here again after tasting it. The lady taking our order was lovely but same cant be said about her food.

An Excellent evening with friends at the Gardens Restaurant. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with smiles and this continued through the evening, excellent service! Fantastic food- fresh, zingy flavours, light and expertly prepared but also plenty of food in a portion. Lots of fresh veggies and delicious side dishes. The staff are helpful, polite and very fast without being too overbearing, perfect. The lady- Sandra, I think, is very friendly and observant to what her diners need. As a family with four picky children, we all came away happy and well fed. I would gladly recommend this restaurant. (We went on New Year's eve, and service was very good even on a busy night).

Celebrated my mums 61 birthday at the Garden hotel an restaurant Cantonese in Bangor. Probably the most inviting place an people in the town of Bangor. Our servers were incredibly friendly an accommodating. They went above an beyond to make our evening enjoyable an comfortable. & Seemed like really lovely people. i honestly can’t speak highly enough about the food… we had a professional chef dining with us, an even she agreed that all the food was really tasty, impressively everyone was so happy with their meal. We paid about £30 a head and tbf we ordered a feast. All in all I would definitely recommend this restaurant for some tasty food an great service. The restaurant is clean an inviting with lovely traditional decor I’m definitely looking forward to coming back an trying some of the other tasty looking dishes. Been wanting to try here for ages, just never found the time even though I work around the world corner and pass it daily. It was the wife's birthday Saturday so we decided to order. What a friendly service you get. Nothing is too hard for this family run business. They were amazing, giving her a card where all the staff signed to say happy birthday. What a lovely gesture. They also gave her a bottle of beer as a gift. The food was fresh hot and full of taste. I would highly recommend this reseteraunt and we cannot wait to try it again. I would recommend the prawn Kung po as this was a delicious dish with just the right amount of kick. Juicy prawns full of flavour.. the duck was succulent and not a fatty dish either which I would recommend.. Can't wait to try again and support this lovely local business. See you soon ☺

We have a holiday home in Llanrug and often have takeaways whist we’re visiting. I struggle with a lot of Chinese menus as I’m vegetarian but don’t like mushrooms (every other place has ‘mushroom’ for their vegetarian dish) I love tofu and was so happy to see so much choice on the menu. We phoned before we set off on our 2 hour journey and the lady on the phone was super friendly and helpful, she gave me a collection slot and explained that she’d call me when in was ready to collect. We encountered some traffic so when she called I explained we were running a few minutes late, she said not to worry she’d put it on a hot plate for us then bring it to the door when I phoned on arrival. I was so impressed with their Covid measures as we’ve seen so much difference around Wales & England not really adhering to any regulations. The lady was so lovely and it was hot when we arrived at our holiday hot 15 minutes later. The food was absolutely delicious we polished it off in no time at all. My husband commented that it tasted like home cooked food as it wasn’t greasy at all. We’ll definitely return in a heartbeat and the handwritten thank you note was exceptionally thoughtful. This restaurant has adapted well to the takeaway trade since the Covid19 restrictions. I visited tonight for a takeaway whilst staying at the Bangor Travelodge. Having given my order by phone from outside the front door I was immediately struck by the warmth of the person on the other end. I was a little taken aback when she said it would be 30 minutes but the reviews suggest that this is Cantonese food, not fast food. I ordered Fillet Beef in Black Bean Sauce, Lemon Chicken, and Singapore Vermicelli and each was carefully prepared in true restaurant style with no corners cut for a takeaway style. The beef was cooked to perfection and served in large pieces slightly pink in the middle. The lemon sauce was piquant and not over sweetened as you sometimes get. The Singapore Vermicelli was based on chicken and I would have preferred some shrimps and char sui pork as well but the balance of spices was good and I was quite satisfied. Food of this quality doesn't come cheap (how many local takeaways use fillet steak in their dishes) but at just over ten pounds per head we had a meal that we will remember and hope that we might have the chance in future to eat in the restaurant.

We haven’t used this restaurant this year so thought We’d give it a try on a takeaway ,no menu on line so a phone call to the restaurant and one was sent onlineOrdered the items that appealed and picked up. We were really impressed with with all the dishes ,2 starters ,2 main and 2 sides and the quantity was good ,so no waste. Cost was £30 but if they deliver it’s an extra £5 . Had to give 5 stars so good

A friend had told me that Gardens was open for takeaway so decided a pre-anniversary treat. A quick telephone call was very friendly and we were given a collection time to ensure we wouldn’t encounter anyone else. Payment taken over the phone. Isolating mother was keen for duck in orange sauce ( her favourite and was nice to treat her to something nice after 8 weeks in isolation). King prawn satay and sauté spicy chicken for us with a enormous bag of very good prawn crackers. The food was piping hot and very tasty. Normally we have left overs but not tonight too good to leave. All this was at a reasonable price and the good arrived with a lovely message from the restaurant “ mwynhewch eich bwyd”. If you have missed your visits to restaurants and want restaurant standard food at home go to the Gardens Cantonese and treat yourself in lockdown or even after ......... you won’t be disappointed

Struggled to find anything open during lockdown!! So glad to have discovered this place. This will continue to be our takeaway of choice even when everything is open again! Delicious and fresh food. The loveliest service with excellent procedures put in place for social distancing! Also really great with food allergies. Can highly recommend!

My family and I had a fabulous evening at this restaurant on Saturday 25th January which was the Chinese New Year. We have dined her several times and would highly recommend this restaurant which has been run for many years by a wonderfully warm and friendly family. On arrival, the restaurant was busy and the music and ambience was exciting and the restaurant had been beautifully decorated. We were made to feel very welcome by Sandra and family. The food was excellent with so much choice on the menu. The staff were very polite, attentive and professional. All the diners were given a gift in a gold and red envelope which was a lovely gesture. During the evening we were entertained with traditional chinese dances and music and to follow there was a fireworks display outside of the restaurant which added to the brilliant night. This is by far the best chinese restaurant. Thank you to Sandra and all the family.

We arrived after last orders at the Garden Hotel due to train delays, and the chef kindly agreed to stay on so we could have dinner after travelling all day. Delicious chicken satay and light, crispy spring rolls for starters, followed by faultless king prawn, duck and chicken main courses, with fluffy steamed rice and thick and crunchy prawn crackers. A few glasses of wine and various bottlesd beers brought the total to around £30pp. Attentive service and the food arrived quickly.

I’ve Never had the Chicken with Green Pepper and Black Bean Sauce before and I can say I am not disappointed. A proper chinese restaurant - reviewers complaining about the price are obviously expecting take-away rates. Nice decor but not too crazy, friendly service, including personal interaction with owner. Slightly 'limited' menu which comes with a places that cooks a smaller selection of really good dishes rather than offering a generic every dish under the sun menu. We had the salt and chili pepper chicken which was fantastic.

We were served by Leena, who was very cheerful and nice. I had the Cantonese duck and my wife the Sizzling beef and we both enjoyed our meals very much. Service was fast.

I came here with my family after my graduation and all of the staff were so lovely and regularly checked to ensure everything was okay as well as the chef. I felt so welcome coming here and would definitely be coming back again. The food was also amazing and the service was fast to say it was quite busy whilst there.

If we're in the area we always visit this restaurant as the owner and staff are so knowledgeable about gluten free food. We have total peace of mind that my wife's gluten intolerance will be catered for, not often the case in a Chinese restaurant.

Nice, comfortable restaurant, very welcoming with good service and a limited traditional Cantonese menu containing a few Malaysian influenced dishes, the Garden is possibly the best restaurant in Bangor but then options are seriously limited. It is relatively expensive, a king prawn main is £14.80 and that’s high for north Wales. Food quality is good, not great, cooking is good, not great, but you are paying for a relaxed and convivial atmosphere and the friendly service. Nice aquarium! Worth a 4/5, just.

We visited here in mid October after a trip to Bodnant Gardens (about 30 minutes away). The food was excellent with no worries over my wife's gluten allergy, which is not the case with many Chinese restaurants. The service from our waiter Vik was first class. We popped in for dinner on the first night of our North Wales holiday, as our son really wanted Chinese for dinner and this place had the great reviews.

The food was absoloutly fabulous and was produced very quickly yet with very high quality, straight off the wok meaning that it has a fresh taste many restaurants lack.
