Lemon Grass in Gwynedd

This restaurant has extremely good service a person that was extremely poignant to me was the beautiful waitress who served me she was very helpful and her service was impeccable!

I went in to lemon grass yesterday and we had an amazing time!! The food is amazing and overall atmosphere is amazing and so welcoming! The menu features a wide array of dishes, I had the butter chicken and some curry. Both were exquisite and cooked to perfection. The garlic naan is a must-try—fluffy and perfect for scooping up curries. Service is honestly incredible and friendly, the chef came out and said hi and the waiters were so nice and welcoming, adding to the overall experience. Overall, Lemon grass is a fantastic choice for anyone craving delicious Indian cuisine. Highly recommended!

The food was absolutely delicious and there was this one very respectful young waitress that served us with so much kindness. This restaurant was a 10 out of 10 and I recommend!

Friendly waitress who was attentive (though we were the only ones eating at the time so to be expected), our meals came quickly (waited around 15/20mins) - ordered a vegetarian mossala and tandoori mix grill. Garlic naan didn’t seem to have any garlic to it but was still nice as a naan Meals were nice. Good price too. No issues but the taste didn’t blow us away but overall a good experience and would eat here again if in the area. Liked that you could bring your own alcohol - went to the coop nearby. And note cash only.

We came here for dinner after a tough day hiking and cycling. The food matched our expectation and the host Alom was super friendly and chatty with great customer service and even gave us a surprise discount. If anyone is after Indian cuisine in Dolgellau then this place is defenetley recommended.

I've been twice now at different times of the year to get take aways and both times I have been charged more when I've gone in to pay than the price I was told over the phone! Rather annoying when it's cash only and you find the correct cash in the house before going to collect (it's a 15 mile round trip). It is my nearest but I won't be going there again.

Best curry we’ve had in a long time, and we eat a lot of them. Alom and Kath are fabulous hosts, are very accommodating, and helped us choose our dishes. The Dhansak is the best I’ve ever had, and the Rogan Josh was superb. Fantastic no-nonsense curry house.

We got to the restaurant and were welcomed by Alom who could not do enough for us, he has such charisma it shines through, the food was absolutely amazing, I couldn’t decide between the murghi masala and the tandoori curry special and was offered half and half which made my week, my partner really enjoyed his food and as a chef he’s hard to please, we will return very soon, thank you Alom for making our celebration special. Compliments to the hard working chef too 😊

Absolute horror, naan bread tasted like paint and smelt like concrete, lamb was so dry it would dissolve at room temperature. I never want to eat again.

We didn't have a booking but the staff managed to fit us in There was a superb menu with.my wife having the Butter Chicken and I had the Murgi Mossalla. Both meals were superb One thing to note is that it is cash only Definitely recommend though

I had ordered butter chicken as I was a traveller and an Indian but never ever had the gravey that I had there was of coconut and that too sweet, which as in real sense in a butter chicken is made of tomatoes. Adding on it I even ordered Dhal tadka but the seasoning had burst garlic which even was obvious from the aroma of the package.

Had a takeaway from here. Very overpriced and tiny portions. I had the onion bhaji - £4.50 for 4 very small bhajis, tiny. They were nice though. I had the mango chicken - I literally had about 5 very small pieces of chicken that had a rubbery texture in a tub of disgusting sauce - it was supposed to be mango but it was just coconut, no mango had gone within 100 miles of that sauce. I had to throw it away. My partner's meal was just oil. The naan bread was very dry. Overall, quite disgusting, over priced slop. Avoid.

Had a takeaway this evening. My partner had the lemontree special which was very oily. I had the mango chicken which was literally 5 very small pieces of chicken with a horrible texture and the most disgusting coconut sauce. No mango had gone within 10 miles of that sauce! Absolutely horrible and thrown away. The naan was dry. Starter portion sizes ridiculously small for the price although my onion bahji was nice. The salad was rubbish, brown limp lettuce and cucumber that looked like it had been sunbathing all day. I'm still hungry. Over priced rubbish food. Avoid

Nice shop just of the town square..... seating for around 30 ppl .... I got take away and was very impressed.... really nice curry ....

We had a lovely meal at Lemongrass. The owner was very friendly and welcoming and while eating we had a good chat about all sorts of important issues in the world. While talking about my love of cooking curries the owner gave us a free jar of chill pickle they use in their cooking. Keep up the great approach to running a business in the community and in taking cash. Taking and keeping cash is community and helps the local economy.

Stunning food. We had take away because it was full. We eat a lot of curry and this genuinely ranks among the best.

We had completed a great walk up Cadir Idris and came here for a meal. They had spare seats and we were warmly welcomed. There is a good choice of meals available with some rarer options available. One of my friends had the Naga beef dish and said how excellent it was. I had the Clay Oven bhuna, which was chicken tikka bhuna. Key points are no alcohol, but byo is welcomed, it is also cash only. Overall an excellent meal and highly recommended. A nice touch was that both the head of house and the cook enquired about our meals. The head of house also discussed in detail about the meals and particulars of some ingredients. Definitely worthy of a trip.

Went for Dinner with my wife. Been before so know some of the people that serve. The food was excellent and service very prompt. We always ask for recommendations and usually accept. He also asked if we wanted to try a sardine curry as a side dish. He also gave us a mashed potato dish mixed with raw onions and chillies. Very good. If you like a great curry I would recommend Lemon Grass!

Better off with a microwave meal, curry was tasteless and very oily, keema nan had a tiny bit of meat, garlic nan had no garlic. Tried to overcharge.

Average food to be honest. Certainly not the standard of cooking you would hope to be paying for. With a new chef this place could possibly do well in the future.

The best curry I’ve had in years! It was so tasty. Chilli Garlic chicken masala with a side of bombay potatoes and special rice. I wish this restaurant was closer to home, I would eat here every night.

Tasty food and good service which was let down by the very scruffy seats with covering peeling off them all and stained tablecloths. We knew about the quality of the food but I feel many people would look at the furnishings and go elsewhere. Get your act together or you will surely have some health and safety issues and lose customers.

This was the nearest takeaway to our holiday cottage and has good reviews. Unfortunately we rang and rang to try and order but there was no answer. There are no opening times online that I could see and Facebook also said it was open but after driving into town it was closed. We ended up getting a nice chinese takeaway instead. Some opening times and a voicemail would be helpful.

Much needed delicious curry after hiking Snowdon! We ordered food for takeaway & the staff were really helpful when advising what options were gluten free. I had chicken Balti curry, onion bhajis & vegetable rice. My friend had a vegetable korma, peshwari naan and pilau rice. Both of our meals were super tasty and all homemade. We really enjoyed our food as well as the service and would order from here again if ever in the area!

I went with my sister and two children, who had never eaten Indian food before, as we ate there last year & really enjoyed it. However this year the children were ‘braver’ and tried Chicken with Mango & Chicken Pakora. The meals this year surpassed last year and were superb. The gentleman who took us through the meal was attentive without overdoing it & was especially good with the children.

Went yesterday with my family. It was a welcoming environment and the staff were really friendly and well-behaved (which is rare in most Indian restaurants). We ordered naga chicken and a few more items (I forgot these names, my bad ) Food was amazing, well-cooked, tender, and smelled great. Most importantly they served food in an aseptic manner, which is impressive Alom was very kind and welcoming, he was very helpful. Food: 10/10 Service and environment: 10/10 Location: 9/10

Fantastic Bangladeshi-Indian dinner - our host Alom recommended us dishes taking into account everyone's taste and wishes. Everything was delicious: Naga chicken with chickpeas, onion bhajis, butter chicken, veg curry, dhansak.... We enjoyed our dinner so much that we came back again a few days later. A wonderful restaurant with very friendly waiters. The food was amazing and the staff was willing to adapt the dishes to personal preferences. We had several curries there and everything was extraordinarily tasty. Our host Alom was really helpful in explaining and adapting the dishes. A 5/5 experience.

We finished a walk late and looking for a bite to eat. Having been turned away by a few other businesses in town (it was by now 20:15 on a Sunday). There were probably getting ready to close for the evening, but happily welcomed us and served delicious Indian. We were the only people in the restaurant at that time, but there was 'pressure' to finish the food and leave. Even the chef came out to ask if the food was ok.

Service was great, our waiter was super attentive without being intrusive, bought extra pickles and rice(without charging) and generally ensured the evening went well. Vegetarian and meat eaters all catered for with great food. Will visit again next time we’re here.

We have been here 4-5 times now over the last 8 months. On this visit we were greeted as friends and the waiter chatted with us as such. What a lovely guy. The service here is amazing, so friendly and helpful. The food is excellent. We started with poppadoms and the chutney tray. I had Onion Bhajis and a Vegetable Dupiaza with Pilau Rice. We had a side dish of Aloo Gobi. My husband had King Prawn Malaya and Mushroom Rice. We come from Leicester so we have eaten in many Indian restaurants at different price levels. My husband recently had a meal in a flashy Birmingham Indian Restaurant and paid £60 for I person. All the above food cost just over £47. Amazing value and not at all overpriced for the quality and quantity of food. I will sum up by saying the decor and furnishings are a little tired but the place was very clean. In my opinion the food and service here more than make up for that slight issue. This place has a heart and is well worth a visit.

We had a meal from here And it was lovely. The main waiter was great. He had a nice attitude and took care of everything that we needed. There was an issue with my mother-in-law‘s meal, but he sorted it straight away and even took the drinks off the receipt as a sorry The restaurant could do with a bit more TLC as the chairs were a bit battered. Also, it was quite cold in there, so maybe turn the heat up a bit more But apart from that the meal was lovely and the service was great

The food is amazing- have something different to what you’d normally have because this is incredible and authentic! Sheek kebab was perfect, I had the murghi mossalla which was perfect, the egg nearly put me off but it was boiled and initially I pushed it to the side but I did end up trying it and it wasn’t what I thought, I don’t know why I thought it would be any different to a boiled egg in a curry…maybe to much wine at the wine bar? My other half had chilli chicken mossalla and she really enjoyed it too. The chef came out and said we order what he orders and ate exactly this last night. Glad we swerved a very British norm of korma or anything else typically British. It was a quiet place, a few came in for takeaways. It is Christmas Eve Eve, so that could be why. We love curry and have eaten curry all over the county, we make it and have our Aunties who cook traditionally too - they’d love it, we loved it. Would come back again if it wasn’t 5 hours away from home. Brilliant!

Fantastic Bangladeshi restaurant. As has been mentioned in other reviews, Alom does a wonderful job as front of house. The food was really good: my wife had a veg malaya balti, which she loved. I went for a vindaloo, which was absolutely perfect. We both recommend the channa bhaji - really tasty. Good portion sizes and great value for money. Next time we are visiting Dolgellau, we will be eating here.

We got takeaway from here while on holiday. It was pretty poor. Watery curry lacking flavour. Overpriced and poor quality.

Great place often have a quick curry here if im in town on work. Always friendly, great garlic chilli chicken!

The place is fairly typical of small town indian restaurants with no local competition. When we arrived we ordered poppadums and chutneys. No one else was there at 6.30pm. The chutneys were heavily watered down and barely able to stay on the poppadum. We were pressed to order so I went with my usual chicken balti and my friend something similar. The meals arrived within literally minutes which made me suspicious. My balti dish was a generic chicken curry dish, very bulked up with onions. It was bland and so poor tasting I only ate the chicken from the dish. We were constantly hurried and harassed to a point where it became a joke between my friend and I. The waitress would take drinks off the table before we’d finished and hover over the table so we couldn’t chat. It came to £35 and I wish we’d gone for fish and chips instead. If you HAVE to have a curry in Dolgellau there’s no choice but be warned it’s very very poor.

A great spot to have a curry if you find yourself in Dolgellau. A family run restaurant with Alom front of house who is an absolute delight! Will return soon.

What an amazing place! Visited north wales as part of our trip and wanted a nice Indian takeaway and this did not disappoint. Best curry we have EVER. Onion bhajis were unreal, naan was super soft. Everything was 5* and the people were lovely.

We ordered take away from Lemon Grass on one night during our week in Dolgellau. Prices were higher than we are used to back home but quality was very good

Great fresh & HALAL food. Authentic Indian taste. I would love to visit it again if I ever come back to visit Dollgeau. Very helpfully staff told us great places to visit around as well.

Had spicy daal with boiled rice n also had Aloo matar..but they also serve halal food...food was amazing n finger licking yummy...staff was so friendly.

Most expensive slop I have ever had the misfortune of spending my money on.

Really lovely food and a friendly atmosphere. We had a meal here early on a Friday evening, it wasn’t busy and the dishes were all good. It exceeded our expectations. Just remember to bring cash!

Had a lovely meal here. We didn’t have to wait long at all to order and our food came quite quickly. Chicken tikka was honestly the best I’ve had anywhere and the naan was freshly made and delicious. My husbands rogan josh was also very tasty. The staff were very welcoming and attentive and went the extra mile. The young lads are a credit to their parents and so well mannered and hard working. I loved this place and will definitely be back next time I’m in the area. I wish I lived closer as I’d definitely be a regular.

Amazing food with friendly service. Recommendations from the staff which one of our group had and it was delicious, as were all of our meals (we were a group of eight). If your in or near Dolgellau I would throughly recommend this restaurant. It is cash only, but there is a cash point near by and also BYO alcohol, which we did.

Excellent food, one of the best tasting Indian food in the UK! Although the outside and decorations are slightly tacky, the staff were really nice and friendly! Had the clay pot rogan Josh and korma with naan and saag paneer, even got a free lentil soup! Overall 5/5! Will come back in the future when I’m in town again!!

Called in on the off chance, and got a table straight away. The staff were friendly and attentive. The meal was delicious and piping hot. The fried rice was beautiful and the peshwari naan was one of the best I've ever had. Exceptionally good value for money.

Poor service, poor atmosphere the toilet was disgusting, the staff don't even speak English. Ordering food was stressful the owners two young sons were they only people clued on. Food was appaling and they don't cash.

Hidden gem. Wasn't expecting too much based on previous reviews and slightly tired appearance. However, food was great! Starters and mains all really good. Tremendous Bombay potato! Nothing to fault and not expensive at all. Service was excellent...clearly a family business.

We happened upon Lemongrass while visiting Dolgellau- we are from Texas and had never tried Indian/Bangladeshi food before. It was fantastic and the family that owns the restaurant were so gracious and offered the best service! Thank you!

Very quiet restaurant, furnishings very run down, but food excellent. Reasonable prices, no alcohol, but allowed to bring own wine for corkage. Staff very attentive.

Had an evening meal in here for three people without booking. I can't fault the food - it was all delicious. My only tiny disappointment was that there were not many lamb dishes and I do love a lamb curry. My chicken dish (ginger chicken) was tasty as were the other two dishes and starters. You could tell that the food was freshly cooked to order, so there was a small wait, but not excessive. The staff were friendly and attentive. So what if the decor could use a bit of updating? It was the food I went in for and I wasn't disappointed.

The food was alright, my Korma wasn’t the best I’ve ever eaten, however Dupiaza, Jalfrezi, Dhansak and Sag Paneer were really nice. Naan bread was not my favourite either and the waiting time was unexpectedly long. We came in a large group of around 10 people, but the restaurant was empty, so we assumed it wouldn’t take that long. We waited for 1 hour and 10 mins for the food to arrive and nobody mentioned anything about it before we ordered, or even in the meantime.

Tasty curries, but mind they're all on the sweeter side - regardless of the order. BYOB with a £1 corckage, it's a nice touch. Naan bread was freshly baked, but too doughy for my taste. Prepare for a lenghty wait if you arrive in a bigger party. We entered an empty restaurant as a group of 10 and waited 70 minutes to receive food. We were not advised about the waiting time. In the meantime, restaurant filled up and other tables had to wait even longer, some of them chose to leave food arrived.

This place is well worth a look, we had a great takeaway during our holiday. We really enjoyed the two main dishes of Murghi Mossala and Chicken Sag Walla. The Brinjal bhaji was the stand out surprise dish so aromatic and the aubergine were cooked...

Went in for a curry on 31/03/23 with two friends. Great meal! I had a tandoori mixed grill with bombay potato and a naan bread. Really tasty food. Range of drinks not brilliant but you can bring own drinks if you like. Cash only but it says that clearly on the door and there’s a free cash machine round the corner, so all good.

Always delicious food, the Taza Chicken is particularly good. 👌

Went for an early evening birthday supper. We were delighted by the efficient and friendly service, swift arrival of our starter followed by a delicious main course. There is an interesting choice of dishes on the menu. A very relaxed atmosphere. Definitely coming again !

Shame as the food was really good and although the staff were polite and friendly. The diabolical organisation puts me off going back on a Saturday evening. We waited 30 mins once seated to have our order taken, we were not offered a drink so...
