I came here today for a roast with a friend. We’d pre-booked as I have a really weird allergy to anything capsaicin related so I wanted to give them a heads up beforehand. They reassured me that the meal I’d chosen would be fine to eat. Upon arriving, the chef wasn’t 100% sure if I could definitely eat the gravy so he made me my own gravy which I really highly appreciate and it was absolutely delicious! So a huge thank you for going the extra mile to ensure I could still eat there. We both enjoyed our meals so much, we left nothing on the plate. Our desserts were also super yummy. Alongside this, the staff are so lovely and welcoming, we’ll definitely be back and will be recommending The Garden Bar to others too. A massive thank you from both of us.

30 years since I was last here(long story), too many sad memories, so when my Fam suggested Sunday roast I said why not? What I missed can't be revisited BUT I will be going again and again. Abfab food, great decor, great staff nice vibes. Do not miss this 'ace in the Hove' Disappointment will be experienced if you don't visit soonest...Falmerlad

We rented out part of The Garden Bar for our Wedding Party/Reception. They communicated so well ahead of the event and made sure everything ran smoothy. The BBQ we selected for food was great and they were the perfect space for a relaxed wedding reception. However, we had a guest in a wheelchair and it was rather awkward for them to get inside and outside due to lots of stairs and ramps needing to be used. Unfortunately the toilet doors were also too narrow for a wheelchair which was not ideal for our guest so that is worth noting for any future guests who are in wheelchairs.

Attended baby shower and we all had roasts , the baby shower was great given a section of the bar near garden and the food definitely dud not disappoint , toast was amazing and shall be returning soon

The most magical perfect wedding!! We had our wedding at the Garden Bar and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better day. Everyone has been raving about the food! We had the BBQ in the day with a buffet brought out later and it went down a storm. The bar staff were Incredible, and with a wedding of over 120 people (who were drinking a lot!) I didn’t see a que at the bar, the staff were all over it! Amazing experience would highly recommend for your wedding! 💒

We recently attended a wake here for a close family member. Everything was perfect. So impressed. Several staff waiting behind the bar on arrival to serve drinks for approx 80 people. We had our own reserved area which was great. The food was amazing. Very tasty and plenty of it, Very, very highly recommended for any sort of family’do’. They say the sign of a good wake is if the person would have enjoyed it. It’s true to say that he would have loved it! Thank you Garden Bar.

Fantastic Sunday lunch and excellent service. Delicious extras like cauliflowet cheese, pigs in blanket etc, you really only need 1 extras per couple! Chef came to make sure we were happy with food. What more could you ask for? ! Deffo returning, infact already booked for 6 *

I went to the cafe today for lunch with my masters class which was a group size of 6. We ordered at the same time and was told likely be a 15-20 minuet wait and we went to see down. We understand it can take time for these things. However, 30 minuets go by and only 2 people have gotten their full English breakfasts and hot drinks. 15 mins go by and one more meal comes out. I went down to ask how much longer on the other meals and was told “soon” and that they didn’t actually have all the chips that ordered and had 2 refund 2 of 3 of the chips. This is after 45 minuets I remind you. Eventually one of us got a salad and cold oven cooked chips, leaving me and one other with no food. The final full English was told to us to be another 20 minuet wait so we had to refund it and get a sausage roll in replaced and was asked to pay the remainder which is fine but not something I would make someone do at the cafe I work at, especially waiting 45 mins and told it would be another 20mins. To top it all off, when I went down to ask if my salad could be put in a takeaway box as I have to go back to lecture, I was then told they lost the ticket and I would have to wait for another one. This is when I heard another customer say they felt bad as they ordered the same order after and got theirs first… I had to get a refund and this was after a whole hour of waiting. 45 mins to tell us they didn’t have what they ordered. 40 mins to tell us they had to start a new order for full English 1 hour to tell me they lost the ticket. I was given the reason to all of this was only one chef in the kitchen, on a Saturday any Laines worker will tell you that it is the busiest day of the week. I was given excuses not apologies. I understand bad things happen but this was appalling. Don’t go on weekends if you want service. That was my mistake.

We only popped in here for a quick cup of tea and added a couple of sausage rolls to go with them this morning. A friendly cafe, clean and very good pricing.

Hands down the worst Chinese I’ve ever been too. And I’ve visited a few. All they cater for are couch potatoes that don’t even like Chinese but like what they can do with a fryer. Absolutely clueless 😂
