The Gallows in Rochdale

12 of us visited to celebrate a birthday. The food was delicious, ready quickly and at the same time and good size portions. Staff are attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is lovely and felt very welcoming. We would all return again, highly recommended.

We are Thursday nighters. Thursday is a traditional Steak Night at the Gallows. Rump Steak and a bottle of wine. Quality of Food is OK it's fine unless you are Judging for Master Chef you will have no complaints and the price is Good. Service Good, Atmosphere Good, In fact for a Pub Grub establishment it ticks all the boxes. The main menu we have still to try but on the basis that there is a regular full house I assuming that all is well in that department. However there is a slight worry; the current proprietors are leaving, therefore the new tenants are an unknown quantity. They have quite an act to follow.

Picked the Fillet steak and it was beautiful. I asked for medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. Food was served beautifully and the service was fantastic.

This is by far one of my absolute favourite places to eat EVER! The food is absolutely sublime, the service is 5 star and the atmosphere is just so lovely. Plus I love getting to see the resident pub dog Stanley. X

My friend and I had a fabulous lunch here today Wednesday 29th May. The young lady gave us a very warm welcome and came and took our drinks / food order. We didn’t have to wait too long before our food came out piping hot. We can definitely recommend the fish finger sandwich, it was so tasty. All the food on the menu was extremely reasonably priced. We enjoyed it that much we’ve arranged to meet up again next month to try something else from the varied menu.

First time visit but will not be the last. Excellent service and the quality of the food was sensational. Cannot recommend enough.

Lovely Pub, with a good choice of delicious food and friendly staff. Downside to our visit that spoiled it for us was two screaming kids that were totally uncontrolled by their parents who obviously had no concerns for other diners. Was better in the old days when kids were excluded from public houses.

Went to the Blackstone Edge for a walk. Weather was starting to come in as we were heading towards the carpark feeling slightly hungry but the cafe looked full so decided to give this little gem a go and we were so glad we did! Had pie of the week, beef brisket and steak sandwich- all of which were excellent! Love to return.

Great food with lots of choice. Also vegan options. The wine was lovely and staff friendly yet non-intrusive. Food was tasty and spoilt for choice. Very clean and pleasant surroundings. Car park at the side. Definitely need to visit and sure you would want to go again

I would HIGHLY recommend The Gallows pub, the food is of excellent standard, the staff are incredibly friendly and they really take care of you. The atmosphere is very down to earth and homely. It was a very enjoyable experience and we will definitely be going back. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Good food but poor service. Quick to initially order drinks and food but service lacking from then on. Had to ask for more drinks, waited quite a while to order dessert but had to ask for a waitress. Ordered coffee, expecting a black coffee with separate milk, but was given a Dolce Gusto white coffee which wasn't great. Waited quite a while for someone to be available to ask for the bill. All whilst a staff member (possibly owner) sat in uniform drinking wine with another table which didn't look great.

Fantastic food and fantastic service, the gallows stands above most restaurants in both quality and service . Thank you for a lovely meal

This was our third year having Christmas dinner at the Gallows. Yet again the meal was delicious and plentiful, their sticky toffee Christmas pudding is amazing! A glass of fizz and canapés on arrival is a nice touch too. There’s a lovely festive welcoming atmosphere. Christmas music on the television and not too loud as to be disruptive. A previous review said there was football on? Not on Christmas Day there wasn’t. All the staff are so friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. We’ve already booked for this year as have many others. Thank you so much Rachel, David and all the team for spending your Christmas Day making ours special.

We had such a lovely night. Great atmosphere, amazingly friendly staff who looked after us perfectly and the most gorgeous slow cooked beef brisket I have ever eaten in my life. 10/10 from me!

A very disappointing Christmas lunch. It was very basic no salt and pepper on the table condiments served in paper ramekins. There was absolutely no festive spirit football on the television and to top it of the blonde lady behind the bar needs a lesson in customer service. At £85 per head not including drinks I would have thought that some effort could have been made I won’t be returning.

Called in by chance as our usual place was unexpectedly closed. Welcomed at the bar, service and food was very good. Had the Golden Oldie 2 course menu, bargain, tasty, and very good portions. Will call again and book next time to be sure of a table.

The food was lovely despite us sending something back because it wasn’t cooked correctly also one of us didn’t get their starter and we had to ask for it as they had forgot about it. SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE despite us spending £175.00

Driven past this pub many times usually on the way to an Italian restaurant on Wildhouse Lane. Decided to give it a try. So glad we did. I can honestly say it was the best Sunday roast I have had in a long time. Large portions so make sure you are very hungry before you go. Didn't have a starter as I wanted a pudding. Everything was fresh, hot and homemade. Had the roast beef. Cooked beautifully, with huge yorkshire pudding. The sticky toffee pudding and custard was delicious. The staff were attentive and friendly. Having tried a few Sunday roasts in the local area, including the Italian one, this was by far the best and the price was very reasonable. Will definitely be back to the Gallows soon.

Went for the steak night which was £30 for 2 steak dinner and included a bottle of wine which I thought was great value unfortunately the steak was really tough and gristly and not worth eating so all in all it workout to be a expense tea we were offered a coffee or a sweet as compensation but don’t drink coffee and didn’t want a sweet very disappointed won’t be going for steak night again sorry

The choices for the OAP special offer at lunchtime were a bit limited but excellent all the same. We both had garlic mushrooms & toasted ciabatta followed by rag pudding & chips. No scimping with the starter and Stuart's chips are amazing!

There were 24 of us who went for a celebration Christmas Meal in December. The food was excellent and everybody thoroughly enjoyed the event. The whole lunch was well served and couldn't be faulted. Highly recommended.

We rang at the last minute to book a table for 7 and they organised this quickly (as we were arriving within 15 minutes). The pub was fairly busy with families, but we were greeted and all our needs were met. Lovely meal and great atmosphere.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while now, so decided to go with my dad and auntie. We all tried a different dish and all 3 were delicious. My dad had gammon, my auntie had sausage, mash and gravy and I had a BLT with a side of chips all 3 meals came to about £18 so really good value for money and good size portions to.The decor and ambiance was really nice and it felt very welcoming and cozy and it was all nice and clean.Would definitely recommend

Me and my partner have been coming here for a few years now. We ordered food and it wasn't the greatest. The beef was fatty and the burger was ok but quite tasteless. The staff were as good as ever. Sadly the food needed much improvement.

Often visit for a drink but today we took our autistic son for a meal. Dining area is quiet and noticed they kept volume down for us. Nothing too much trouble would happily alter menu for sons restricted dietary requirements. Food is excellent quality with quick service. Not advertised that we could see but have wifi which was really helpful. Staff very friendly (as always ) fully recommend for anyone but particularly autism friendly which made the experience a pleasure
