Having booked Afternoon Tea for my Dads 90th originally for 12, I asked if we could add 4 more to the booking and I was categorically told NO ! I asked if I could speak to the Manager & told to send in an email ?! This is whilst I was on the phone. I said if I cancel the whole booking are you ok with that and the receptionist said “if that is what you want to do” Obviously didn’t understand financial implications. I went online and there were plenty of tables to book. I did get a call back and had the 4 extra added to the booking. I wish is cancelled, the staff were rude, the outside tables had dirty crockery left there. The ashtrays were overflowing. I waited 15 mins for a drink whilst waiting for everyone to arrive. The ‘Afternoon Tea’ was a huge disappointment, stainless steel tea & coffee pots, with matching milk jugs that didn’t pot, you know the ones where the milk goes all over the table. As for them being speciality the only thing special was the cost as they were cheap Booker tea bags!! The sandwiches left a lot to be desired- chicken Caesar was Bookee ready made compressed chicken in mayo, the cheese finger had pickle on both sides of bread & had gone soggy, a tiny pork pie which was placed with the cakes. I sent 2 emails of complaint with no reply to either.

A champagne high tea for 2 as a gift for our anniversary. Ryan served us, he was friendly, attentive and allowed us to choose when to have what drinks. The 3 tiered cake stand was brought to us with a selection of sandwiches and wraps, scones with cream on another plate then at the top a selection of cakes. Ryan went through what everything was. All the food was nicely presented, freshly made and a great range of tastes. Accompanied with a selection of teas, I had celebration cake tea, with a hint of cake, strawberries and cream - really good. An exceptional treat.

Excellent tasting food. We stayed at the oddfellows hotel to which this restaurant is attached. The reviews are spot on. I had a soup and gnocchi and my husband had the lamb. Best lamb dish we tasted in a while. Everything was just so fresh and well flavoured. It’s a give star hotel so it’s a bit high on price with 20 pound above for main dishes. But quality is 5 star.

Afternoon tea with my daughter and mum was fantastic. Lovely, warm, welcoming feel to the hotel as soon as you walk in. Staff couldn't be nicer or more attentive Food and drinks were delicious. As a newly diagnosed coeliac, it was great to know that gluten-free food can be just as good as what I would normally eat! Staff were knowledgeable and took care to ensure there was no cross-contamination. Thank you for your kindness and for a lovely afternoon.

Visited Wednesday 8th. From the moment we arrived the friendliness from everyone was fantastic. Two young ladies introduced themselves and told us about the hotel and restaurant and took our coats. We were made to feel very welcome and our waiter (Peter) was brilliant. Our food was beautifully prepared and presented. Haddock main dish for my partner and I had the Chicken Supreme, both highly recommended. Will definitely visit again and would recommend

Staying at the hotel which is wonderful so thought we would eat here also. Food was ok, fish and chips and 3 x steaks ordered. 2 steaks over cooked but the fish and chips was nice. Service was poor. The drinks order was forgotten Steaks knives not brought out and had to be asked for to cut through the steaks. Took 10 minutes at the end of the meal to retrieve a coat that was taken at the start. Cocktails nice. Reasonably priced overall at £160 for 4 people but would expect a better Calibre of service and food given the quality of the restaurant

Awful service from start to finish I have been a couple of times to this restaurant including Xmas day and really hoped our experience last night would be better as the restaurant itself is beautiful and has such potential Training is lacking unfortunately and until that is sorted it will struggle to improve it’s reviews We arrived and they didn’t have our reservation ! Left us standing in the. hallway whilst they sort it out in a back room We decided to go into the bar and wait for them to establish if all was ok. Nobody serving in the bar ....we took ourselves into the restaurant after eventually enjoying a drink in the bar We sat and waited and waited and waited at the table. Really poor and slow service ....the. wine we ordered at an increased price didn’t arrive and when we chased it they couldn’t find it ...then finally said they didn’t have it and they ten minutes later said they had been looking for the wrong wine and had now found it ....by this time we had our food The chef located next to our table. kept shouting out service but there was nobody there other than the diners to hear this message ........ We took the itson special meal and chose to upgrade the wine.....we came home starving. after eventually leaving after the main.....hardly any food at all and we were so fed up of the poor inattentive service and delays by that time we just wanted to get out of the place ... My partner happened to pass the manager on the way out and told him about our experience....there was no interest .....we won’t be going again and I genuinely lol to improve their service. There was one young girl who definitely had potential to be good who tried hard to sort out the inattentiveness and mistakes and and had a lovely friendly welcoming demeanour......but she wasn’t in charge .... Real shame. I hope things can be improved. Service and experience everything and sadly this is lacking at this restaurant

We chose Oddfellows because we wanted a traditional setting to bring a sense of occasion (after our previous Valentine's Day favourite, Stannilands, closed their wood-panelled dining room to all but private events). The staff were very friendly (and the lesson in cocktail mixing for a new member of the bar staff was great entertainment, as was acting as tasting guinea pigs!); and the food was very good indeed: nicely cooked and with many interesting flavours. Happily, the music wasn't too loud. We appreciated the small courtesies such as calling us by name. It's true that a glass of wine ordered early on didn't arrive (with profuse apologies) till after the main course was finished; but the overall experience was so positive that it was very easy to forgive the one slip-up. We'll be back next Valentine's Day, and probably before.

The restaurant seems to be an after thought. We were made to wait over 30 mins for drinks, food was nice (although portions very small), no staff around, food served with no cutlery. I've eaten here 3 times and each time there has been problems. As each time there was no manager to speak to, I reviewed on here, instead of reaching out to resolve my issue, they ask TripAdvisor to remove my review.

Visited here today for afternoon tea to celebrate with my 4yr old daughter on becoming a big sister, with my newborn in tow. On arrival I was told the card and phone lines were down and payment would have to be made in cash. Not ideal when the nearest cash machine is at Sainsburys and finding parking plus having two children and car seats with me it isn't an easy travel. The manager agreed to let me pay by transfer. The afternoon tea was poor compared to a previous visit a couple of months ago. Restaurant service slow with only one lovely waiter. On exiting it took half an hour to pay as everyone was waiting to pay by transfer or for their costs to be returned or to check in all whilst having one person serving right until the very end when three people finally turned up. On exiting I found people being told about the lack of functioning card payment facilities, despite the landlines being down surely someone would have a mobile to contact existing bookings to warn them upfront and avoid the chaos and delays.

I really didn’t want to have to leave a review, but feel I have given management the opportunity to respond to my emails and the phone calls promised have not materialised. Upon arrival the bar man rudely barged through the doorway in front of us without giving so much as a second glance or apology which was off putting and made us feel unwelcome. Our first room had an issue with the location of the TV which the hotel have confirmed they were aware of, so we can’t understand why they would try to accommodate guests in this room. We were moved to another room which we were grateful for, however the room was freezing cold with a drafty window and no coat hangers so we were unable to hang our clothes. The hotel don’t put milk in the room for drink which we understand, however it took 2 requests to get milk for making a drink which when the hotel was practically empty just isn’t a 5 star service. The choice in the restaurant was so limited (3 choices), we were made aware upon querying this that this is because of the time of year and limited deliveries. We feel we should have been made aware of this when booking the restaurant as the food was by no means cheap and we would have eaten elsewhere. There were a few other bits, like a big bright green light shining in the room all night from the wifi router, all of which have been relayed to the hotel in writing but in short we were just disappointed and the hotel did not meet 5 star expectations.

The food eventually arrived but was pretty awful to be honest the sandwiches were going stale and had a perfume taste .. The gingerbread men had no sweet taste it was like sugar had been missed ! And to add insult to injury the price was £22 each for 4 bits of stale perfume tasting bread , 2 scones each and another 4 small cakes each .. never will we go there again we could of done so much better ourselves !

We visited this lovely hotel with 2 friends on our recommendation for Sunday Lunch last weekend. What a disaster. The main course was terrible. I had Leg of Lamb which was possibly the worst lamb I had ever been served in a restaurant. I had to saw my way through it as my knife would not cut into it. Our friends had the Roast Beef whish was served with lots of gristle and fat still attached. The roast potatoes where burnt and very hard as though they had been reheated up and the vegetables where no better. Normally I would have returned my food but it was our friends treat so I did not want to embarrass them. As for the service we had empty pint pots and the original side plates left on the table for the whole duration of the meal. The final bill for 4 was £217.36 which included a bottle of house champagne. Not cheap.

Although the staff were lovely service was very slow & no one seemed to be responsible for customers on the Terrace. Attended for a special birthday lunch. We were excited as we thought it looked a lovely place and we'd heard good things when it initially opened. The menu itself was uninspiring but we hoped the food would be better than it sounded. It wasn't. It was bland, not warm enough and a mix of ingredients that just didn't go together. Service was terrible. Unsure if this is just because it was mid week but it was run by children. Both waiters very extremely young and very "dropsy". They failed to give multiple tables cutlery, forgot parts of orders and were generally very unwelcoming. They didn't ask us how our food was and we left very frustrated with the entire experience. There didn't seem to be anyone senior to discuss our issues with. Expensive lunch - we won't be returning.

We visited with family for lunch. The building, restaurant and grounds are beautiful. The staff are friendly and attentive. The food we were served sounded lovely but unfortunately was poor. We expected small portions but they were really tiny. The food was served just warm and completely tasteless - no seasoning and looked like it had been sat under a serving lamp too long. The food is ‘style over substance’ and I think they need to work on this. We love eating out and fine dining, Oddfellows is local to us, we will return for drinks but not for food unfortunately.

The hotel and restaurant is housed in what is a lovely building which has been nicely restored. As a local to the area we were pleased to have what promised to be a quality venue on our doorstep. Unfortunately we were very disappointed in our first and probably last visit to the restaurant. There were 4 adults and two children and pretty much each of our meals were less than satisfactory. The starters we OK but tiny which would have been fine as part of a multi course tasting menu, but as a two course table d"hote it was insufficient. The main courses were tasteless apart from an excess of salt. My daughter had what were described as Thai skewers which was a mystery as there was no apparent taste relating to Thai flavours and were dry and quite tasteless. Even the children's food was poor. One of my granddaughters had burger was overcooked dry and unappetising and the other had chicken strips served with flatbread which they even managed to burn! The wine was also a disappointment which is very frustrating when paying £11 a glass. The service was basic and slow having to wait for an age for drinks and sauces, menus and dirty glasses left on the table. Not what I would expect from the type of place they are positioning themselves as.

Liam,Andrew & the staff are really at the top of the game. Cannot wait to return with other friends to sample the a la carte menu & the taster menu. The only regret is that as locals it is too near to book a weekend away as following a tour of the rooms we are sorely tempted. We have eaten at the restaurant before and were so impressed with the food and service that we took friends as a gift to celebrate a special birthday. The edge was somewhat taken off the occasion by the very poor service and attitude of a member of the bar staff. There were staff in the bar when we arrived but no-one came to take an order for a drink and we waited at least 15 mins, realising then that the barman was serving a group who had come in after us. We took this up with him when he came to take the order and his response was less than gracious. No apology but effectively trying to put up a defence and in quite an unfriendly way. Not a way to treat guests! By contrast the restaurant staff were as lovely as ever and the food did not disappoint although a couple of waiting staff could have been better prepared to explain the components of the dishes to us. We like the hotel and restaurant very much but the bar episode might make us think twice about coming back again soon. Shame.

At least in the top 5 in Greater Manchester. Well, we've just had a 7 course tasting menu. Our group of four have been eating lunch around the North West for about five or six years now and I can safely say this was the most pleasing, innovative and complex meal we have ever eaten. The place should get a star if they can match staffing levels to the kitchen's output (some illnesses on a warm half-term Friday - how did that happen?). Clearly a huge amount has been spent on the building and infrastructure whilst highlighting the fine architecture. The only thing holding it back is it's location inside a public park. That's not going to change but should not deter your visit.

Terrible. Don’t go. Why? Because it’s never been open when I’ve been! Just walked out there today with my daughter, and we hoped to have lunch and drinks. But it was shut, despite stating it’s open on a Tuesday from noon. This is the THIRD time I’ve been (all different days and times) and it was shut each time. I’ve checked the website and socials and there’s no indication they’re shut. Terrible service for such a remote pub.
