The Galley in Thanet

6 of us decided to have a late late lunch here. We sat outside. The couple were welcoming and friendly. I have wanted a new food category forever, FP&CH. Freshly Prepared & Cooked Here!!! We got it here! We eat out a great deal, lunches & dinners and have been disappointed many times. We had various items, a chili, Paninis, Chicken Skewers, Mac & Cheese with Garlic Bread and a Ploughmans. My Chili was absolutely gorgeous, spicy with an incredible flavour, I am quite proud of my own Chili but this was better. All 6 of us enjoyed the food and it started swopsies it was that good. The white wine was lovely. The view over the harbour even on a threatening stormy day was stunning. We will go again. I really recommend you book.

What a delightful Find ! Location perfect -- sitting outside, on upper level looking right over the Marina -- but no passing traffic. Such very friendly and helpful service -- exactly what requested by a rather pernickety child! And practical advice about finding the rock pools we hoped to explore! Really delicious seafood, generous helpings, greatly enjoyed our meals. Reasonable prices. Would definitely recommend, and re-visit.

We went for lunch after looking at the reviews and were certainly not disappointed. Generous portions fresh produce and friendly hosts. Beautiful view over Ramsgate Harbour lovely seating area in front of the cafe. Will definitely go again with friends and do try it .. like us you won't be disappointed .

The wait of 35 minutes for breakfast was definitely worth it. Small English with toast and a flat white. Could not be faulted. Made to feel rushed once our plate was cleared, but then the table was needed as they had already turned people away for lack of seating. Friendly service. Quality food, freshly cooked with the best views of any cafe.

I don’t know where to start! The service was excellent, the food was amazing and the experience was certainly 5 star!! We had the seafood platter and it was outstanding! A beautiful selection presented immaculately. The mussels in white wine garlic sauce were delicious and the warm mackerel salad was very good! We were served by two members of staff who couldn’t do more for us! So friendly and so happy! This really was a fabulous experience and I couldn’t recommend it enough!!

When in Ramsgate we Lways come here, whether it be for lunch as it was today or just a cup of tea. You are always guaranteed a lovely welcome and good value food. Recommended.

This is my second trip to the Galley in Ramsgate and cannot speak more highly of it! Andreea, Brian, Hannah & Erica are true professionals and genuinely make you feel like you are old friends returning. We had a light lunch of the Muscles served with fresh warm bread along with a beautiful bottle of Sauvignon Blanc as we sat outside under the canopy whilst the rain was lashing down on Friday evening. The perfect location and service, cant wait to go back.

We popped in here for a drink whilst waiting for a table at a restaurant up the hill. Staff were brilliant; welcoming and chatty. Cocktails delicious. Would return for food, which looked really good.

Visited the galley for breakfast, lovely location looking over the fabulous harbour, had the scrambled egg and smoked salmon, it was excellent, perfect scrambled eggs which is hard to master ,my wife had the cooked breakfast, again cooked to perfection, the couple that run this cafe/restaurant are friendly and very welcoming, and if you are visiting Ramsgate be sure to pay this little gem a visit you wont be disappointed I can assure you, we are already looking forward to going back

Visited in January and sat outside for coffees. Lovely coffees and hot chocolate. The guy who served us lovely friendly banter and brought out some binoculars for us to have a look at the boats in the harbour. Great view of the sea. Popped back for a coffee and had some toast the next day, they were busy and service a little bit slow but coffee delicious and proper bread that was really tasty and it was two thick slices so filled you up. I would definitely go back again and perhaps try the food as what we saw coming out looked really nice

We had a fantastic lunch at the Galley. We all had different main courses, prawn and salmon salad, chilli and rice, cheese ploughman’s and chicken wings - all cooked to perfection. We even managed a brownie dessert as we were all relaxing in the sun taking in the superb harbour views. Service was spot on and really good value. Overall a fantastic way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

The view gives this little restaurant character and appeal...but The Galley has more to offer than just this. The owner (I assume) is a friendly, welcoming and energetic guy with a polite and patient temperament. My partner and I quickly seated ourselves outside and was shortly met by the kind gentleman who provides us with menus and asked how our night was (it was late morning at this point). My first impression was that the menu on display looked incredible and reasonably priced. Furthermore, the kitchen was tiny yet provided such a variety of beautiful food. The music playing was joyful and uplifting and the vibe was a relaxing and calming one. We had only ordered a sandwich and bacon roll between us, but the bread really was the best; thick yet soft and buttery. A quick service accompanied with a lovely atmosphere and excellent customer service.

Visited on the 11th of July for breakfast and found thus place to be in a beautiful location overlooking the harbour, we were greeted in a friendly manner and sat ourselves inside, we ordered coffee, apple juice and a large breakfast each, the breakfast did take a little while longer than we usually wait but hey that happens, we were looked after though and not just ignored which means a lot to a customer, I will say that the wait was so worth it, great quality ingredients and plenty on the plate, exactly how a cooked breakfast should be, I would rate it 10/10 and would 100% visit again, one last mention about the music playing it was funky and needed, so compliments to the chef, service and the dj...

Just need to say Thank You for the veggie sausage option with breakfast. Wife had full English, son full veggie English, and small veggie English for myself. Busy eatery with accomadating staff, nothing was a problem. Laid back nostalgic R&B easy listening with bfast. Really enjoyed everything cooked from fresh. We were late rising due to it being our last weekend off before 2020 begins in earnest. I searched on-line for places selling the infamous All-Day- Breakfast and this cafe came up along with two others. We had never been to the Galley café before and despite parking being a bit of an issue - we parked in the multistorey in the end - the journey to it from there was only a few hundred yards.The establishment is nestled on the pedestrian arcade which overlooks the pictureseque harbour of Ramsgate. There is seating outside, but this was not for us this time of year. The interior is very snug with few seats, twelve covers at most, though there is a large kitchen table able to seat twelve more in the basement. The basement area would not suit anyone with a mobility issue though it does have a small surprise and a well-stocked, nicely cared-for toilet.Back to the food, we both ordered the small veggie breakfast with tea and it was super. The tea came in a beauitful, proper china teapot, the thing of my dreams. We were also treated to an extra teabag and water after our food - at no extra cost! An unheard of luxury in the world where everything you order costs. Our breakfasts were quality meals. Beautiful granary toast with lashings of butter. Very good veggie sausages, lovely baked beans and fresh mushrooms too. Tomatoes were part of the breakfast, but as neither of us can stand tomatoes we declined these.The cafe itself was very warm and snug, a great place to eat in on a cold winter's day. Other customers were friendly and advised us that the cafe had won awards for its breakfasts and we could see why.We are looking forward to returning for another breakfast and maybe lunch another time too.

Fantastic little place... Friendly staff, delicious food and good portions! Really good quality ingredients, freshly (and well) cooked to order - best sausages and bacon I've had in ages... even great bread for the toast - great views to go with it (blankets & binoculars provided for those willing to brave the outside tables at this time of year). Superb location overlooking Ramsgate Harbour. Full English breakfast is excellent value and very large. Service and coffee both very good. Binoculars provided on all outside tables for diners is a nice touch.

I am a local resident in Ramsgate but work away a lot but on the odd occasion I am at home for the weekend I like to have breakfast at The Gallery the food is astonishing great coffee fantastic views over the Royal Harbour with binoculars on the tables so you can take in the view but the best thing of all you always get a very warm welcome.

Great produce really tasty sausages and nice thick bacon. Heinz baked beans!!! Staff were so friendly nothing was too much trouble and the music was great. The owner was so accommodating telling me what was on locally even got me a table in the sunshine. I would recommend anyone to eat here, it’s so clean.

I turned up and thought ooh the view is good , asked for a menu and was told it's outside even though it was not , then another customer gave us their one , then eventually a old lady turned up with no happyness at all , we gave her the order and waited for our breakfast , snotty undercooked eggs , white bread that was the cheapest you could ever receive , bacon was average , sausages were ok , beans yet again cheap no flavour , cappachino not full flavour but was from a serviced machine which is good , so the staff need a lesson in the customer is important training and need to leave the we don't care attitude at home .

First and last visit unfortunately. We had come for breakfast, sat down to a table that had not been wiped properly. Waited for at least five minutes and decided to get a menu from inside as one was not forthcoming, despite the staff standing inside watching us.

Loved the interior of this place the staff were very friendly and the Latte Coffee was lovely and light. My cooked breakfast was delicious and very reasonably priced. They have binoculars that customers can use free of charge which I thought was a lovely idea.

We love visiting The Galley for our breakfast when we stay at the nearby large chain hotel. I honestly can’t think of anywhere else that does a better breakfast. The ingredients are excellent quality, the service is excellent, the view over the harbour is excellent. The owner and staff are just so friendly, and it’s reasonably priced.

An excellent choice stop for a breakfast or lunch. We fallen in late morning for a Brunch. Drinks were good (hot chocolate and mocha) and the bacon and sausage on the breakfast were of excellent quality. Well worth a visit

This is my second visit and I just had to put a post up. Again an amazing breakfast - quality ingredients and perfectly cooked. Honestly one of the best fry ups I’ve ever eaten and my whole family agreed. Could not recommend this place more! Top class! X

We had such a fantastic experience during our last visit late summer 2018 that we had to come back for another dose of warm hospitality, good food and glorious sun-drenched seating on the outside terrace! Not disappointed! Forget the hotel breakfast. Our hotel included continental breakfast but we were more than happy to skip it in favour of The Galley. Coupled with the views of the mariner on a nice sunny morning, The Galley is all you need for a holiday breakfast or light lunch. The proprietors (Andrea and Brian) provided a hospitable experience. Well recommended!

We visited the Galley yesterday and had the best fish pie ever...even nicer than my mums! I certainly recommend you try it. Andrea puts in a lovely mix of white fish, smoked haddock and prawns. There are free range boiled eggs in it also, all covered in yummy creamy sauce,a layer of spinach and delicious mashed potato...one of those meals that you don’t want to end! A very popular menu item is the late Breakfast on a Sunday, full of quality ingredients perfectly cooked to start a lazy day. This is Alfresco dining at its best and very popular with locals and tourists alike.

Read that this breakfast was the best in Thanet. Took family there and had a very relaxing, good quality breakfast.

Perched up above the marina, this restaurant enjoys glorious views of the sea and packs a warm and delightful service to match! And the food is great too (lol)! But seriously, we’ve dined here both for breakfast and lunch on different days of our 3-day stay in Ramsgate and our experience has been equally great! The duo who run the place (Brian and Andrea) are simply warm, pleasant and efficient. Nothing is ever too much. One morning, we asked for some extra brown whole grain toasted bread, which they had run out of (no fault of theirs as we did dine closer to lunch time than breakfast time). Brian very kindly ran to the nearby bakery and was back in a few minutes to serve my request! They could have simply apologised for running out of my choice of bread, but they went the extra mile. Now, that’s what I call “old-fashion” service with a smile! We now visit Ramsgate 3-4 times a year and The Galley have most certainly got our assured custom with every future visit!
