We have been regulars over the years and have introduced friends and in turn they have introduced their friends to what was a little gem of place, good food, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. We booked a table with friends last Friday, a day after a new menu had been launched. Oh dear! Unfortunately it would appear that focus groups and accountants have been let loose with their clip boards and calculators and have totally decimated the menu. The seafood and charcuterie sharing platters were always a delight, are now a poor and very pale imitation of what they used to be. The quality and quantity of the items proffered on the platters has been drastically reduced, with bread now being the major component on board that was always served separately before. This also coupled with a price hike, even the staff were apologising for what was now being offered. Such a shame and I’m we won’t be only ones thinking the same.

The menu isn’t huge but the food is excellent! Delicious sharing boards and open sandwiches. Wine very reasonably priced and good quality. Fantastic friendly service that isn’t intrusive. Highly recommended and we’ll definitely come again. Just wish it was open on more days.

This wine bar used to so good, a good all rounder, service, prices, food, pleasant staff, but hey, what an earth has happened. Sullen staff, don't know their roles or what on earth they are supposed to be doing. Messy tables, not cleared for such a long period of time when departed. The staff just seem to stand around chatting. They would rather be tidying up and arranging table rather than serving customers who had been waiting some 15 minutes. Absolutely totally unacceptable and unnecessary. Who is their boss? Who trains these staff? It is unbelievable. Any other bar in Lytham and you are greeted with a smile and served accordingly. Things need to change dramatically in this establishment. Either close down for good or get it sorted out. This is down to very bad, lazy management.

Very pleasant, food platters excellent and good value for money, although they have had no prawns for the Fisherman's Platter for weeks??? How can this happen when there is their store below that sells Prawns. Unbelievable. Ran out of wine glasses, white and red, so it was pot luck if you arrived early enough to get the correct glass for the wine you had ordered! How can this happen when there is a Stringers Store within the Booths Store that sell said wine glasses! I have actually bought some for myself. This problem went on for weeks actually. However, the staff are exceptional, so ofcourse we tip, but no......they are not allowed to accept tips as they do not get them themselves. Apparently it goes into a central pot for the whole store. How can this be possible. One either works in a wine bar, where tips are normal or they work on the shop floor, butcher, baker, shelf stacker, all do a superb job but nobody I know tips store staff. Tesco? Asda? Sainsburys? No. I personally go into the cafe on a regular basis, order and pay at the till, so would not dream of tipping staff there. It is totally different in a bar/wine bar/restaurant. I would certainly be interested to know where these said 'Tips' for the lovely wine bar staff, end up! Do the management declare these? Very dishonest and underhand in my opinion. I will infuture keep my tips in my pocket. Disgusted!

I needed to book a room last minute for my son’s partner, baby and friend after their partners were involved in a serious motorcycle accident. Even though it was late evening JayPal sorted out a cot for the baby and was very helpful. My son’s partner said everything was fine at the hotel, room breakfast, service etc. Can’t comment on it’s suitability, location, etc for a holiday as they just needed somewhere to stay overnight near to Kings College Hospital

Visited today with my husband for a browse around the garden centre and lunch in the cafe. We have said never again! The garden centre is nice with a nice selection of gifts and obviously home/garden ware, but the cafe was absolutely disgraceful! First impressions are that the cafe looks very run down. Empty display cabinets, and even though it was 1.30pm so peak lunch time, it wasn't busy at all. We took a seat in a booth and noticed the seats were all ripped. Dirty floors full of crumbs and food and dirty, uncleared tables everywhere. Flies hanging around and crawling over the tables. We had to clear a table ourselves to get somewhere to sit. I sat down and found a squashed chip stuck to my shoe. We should have just walked out there and then. There was a sign saying hot food wasn't available today for some reason, so I ended up selecting a cherry scone that looked like it had seen better days. We ordered two lattes that tasted burnt and strong. Overall, a terrible experience and we definitely won't be returning. I suspect Dobbies at Preston will be closing soon, as I know they have closed other stores in the North West, so they have not spent any money on the cafe and they are running on skeleton staff.
