Visited for Sunday breakfast and wasn’t disappointed. Beautifully clean, very pleasant waitress showed us to our table. Like being back in 1950’s so pleasant. Food excellent, freshly cooked and plenty of it. Great selection of drinks. Overall a very enjoyable experience, looking forward to returning maybe for lunch as the cakes looked amazing!!

I had a quick lunch at the Galley Cafe yesterday - just a sausage roll and coffee - but what a sausage roll! Large, tasty and warming. People around me all seemed to be enjoying the cafe's lunchtime specials. Great venue, good atmosphere.

The most beautiful, tasty, organic 'at desk' takeaway bacon & egg sandwiches (some toasted) just eaten at Steel Cross! We will definitely be back for more, thanks Alex.

The Community Cafe is the best place for a home cooked lunch or just coffee and sandwiches or cake in Crowborough! Excellent value and Jos cheese scones and cakes are delicious!

Yummy food, friendly staff, a great place to take children too. As they provide books, colouring books and pencils. Much more friendly than the last lot who owned this cafe!

I have heard about many changes in the cafe in recent months, as a result I thought I would give it a try again one lunchtime as I was in the area and hungry, I can say that the pricing is very fair and the portions are generous to say the least, if your after good home cooked style food and enjoy a good pud then you really have to pop in to this hidden gem of a cafe. It looks to have a change chef behind the counter who is very welcoming and knows what good food is or at least what I consider that to be, no packet food or warmed up rubbish. I was also very surprised to see that this place has meeting rooms available for booking.

A group of 30-odd locals were due to have a pre-booked lunch here on Tuesday afternoon. However, this did not take place owing to the chef being taken ill suddenly. We can all appreciate that these things happen occasionally. However, no-one contacted our group and let us know. We only found out because the lady who made the bookings popped in to the cafe to advise them of a last minute change, and was told that our lunch was not prepared. It is quite unbelievable that no-one actually had the presence of mind to make a simple phone call and thus avoid upsetting 30 potential customers. After finding out the lunch was cancelled, we actually went to the cafe to complain in person. We queued up to speak to whomever was in charge, but gave up after 15 minutes, as the kitchen staff were clearly struggling to make sandwiches for another sizeable group of people. You'd think that sandwiches would be less of a challenge than a hot meal, and clearly the staff must have thought so too, as they were attempting to cater for that group, but it was like watching the keystone cops albeit in slow-motion. The people queuing for their sandwiches were muttering about how long it was taking, and how they couldn't understand why their sandwiches (apparently also pre-booked) weren't ready. Perhaps the food and service are great under normal circumstances. We'll never know. Owing to the dismal lack of communication, we won't be booking any lunches there anytime soon.

Thirty members of a Crowborough club had organised a lunch for today. The lady organising the lunch had taken in our choice of food from their menu last Friday as requested. Purely by chance she visited the café this morning and was told that the chef was off ill and a temporary chef was standing in. She was then told that this chef did not have a note of our orders and that they did not have the supplies to make the appropriate meals we had requested. The lady was then told they had some quiches and chilli available but no desserts. The proprietors had made no attempt to contact the lady in question to explain the situation despite the fact they had both her home and mobile numbers. After consulting those due to attend, it was agreed to decline to accept this meagre repast and that we would not consider dining there in the future. This shambles left thirty people, who were looking forward to having a nice lunch with their friends, disappointed and inconvenienced, due entirely to the proprietors total incompetence. We cannot rate the café for food, service or value for the obvious reasons and we will certainly not be recommending it to anybody else.

This is a great place for a tasty snack or a full meal. The friendly catering manager Alistair will discuss what you would like and make your choice of sandwich. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. The meals before the film club nights are delicious and make the evening a good night out. All the food is cooked from scratch and nicely served. The cakes and deserts are wonderful! Well worth a visit. It can be off-putting to have people walking through the eating area to go to the meeting rooms beyond, but the good food makes up for that.

We held our WI Craft Day at the centre and used the lovely cafe for our guests and visitors. They served a great sandwich buffet for our group, keeping a table reserved for us. Also served teas, coffees & delicious cakes to about 200 ladies attending our meeting. Excellent and efficient.

Alistair and Jenni make the food on site in this sunny little cafe in the Crowborough community centre. Everything is fresh and beautifully presented. The menu is small and unpretentious, but 'a cut above', eg your leek and potato soup is home made, a generous bowful with a dash of cream; your pizza is baked to order; you can specify the ingredients for your salad and it'll be made up just for you (no tired leaves drooping under clingfilm in a fridge!). You can even have a glass of wine with your meal. Occasional 'specials' could be something like 'Haggis Neeps and Tatties' on Burns night, or a Curry Night Buffet when there's a film showing in the Centre.Alistair & Jenni are very welcoming. I highly recommend The Gallery.

A really good, non-chain, place to stop for coffee, a snack or a full lunch. Good food, prepared on the premises and with a good range of drinks to accompany it. Fully licensed and so a glass of wine or a cold beer is an alternative to coffee and tea.

Both times I'v been here the food was good and homemade. The service was friendly and the food very quickly served. Attention to detail, eg a rose in the the centre of the table, and everything was very clean. Nothing too much trouble for the chef or waitresses. Pot of tea for two very welcome!

Had lunch on an impulse. The menu seems limited, but you can ask for a sandwich as well as 2 home-made specials and baked pots, and scones etc. Wanted to please, and the home made fish pie was really good. Once they've settled in a bit more I think they will be a bit more organised, but the important thing is that they try hard to get everything right and to please customers as much possible.

The place is so Quaint and the food is delicious. I just wish servers would listen to what the customers say I had water with lime in it and I already had it mixed in the line was squeeze to perfection and the server came back by and I and he asked me if I wanted more water and I said yes, for halfway to the top of this ice.Keep gave me a full glass of water, or nearly. It would not be a big deal, but the fact is, I explicitly asked for him to fill it halfway again. These servers, these days, they're just giving you what they want to have, they're not understanding in our paying attention, but they want to get a great tip fortunate for them. We tip well my boyfriend and I. But I am really getting aggravated with this. So overall, the meal was fine. It's just at these people do not listen.

Really disappointed. Arrived at 4ish on a Tuesday in half term with our 15 and 11 year old to a completely empty pub, just one patron sat at the bar. Really lovely cosy large area next to the fire that was empty but immediately told by bar staff we couldn't sit there with children due to licensing rules! We were allowed to sit in the drafty back lobby by the gents loos - not so great. Weird atmosphere, we clearly weren't welcome, shame as we'd planned a few rounds and dinner but we headed back to our local accommodation instead. Looked like a really quaint pub just wish we'd realised it wasn't somewhere for families.

This is my favorite tea shop. I love the rose cake and the scones are my favorite. They are so delicious. I want to go there every day. I am happy every time I visit here with my husband and my dog. The atmosphere is comfortable and the cake is delicious. The taste of the tea is good.

We had a meal here on Saturday as they were advertising a new menu. I had the salmon and my husband had the stuffed pork chop. Both dishes were so so lovely. The flavours were so fresh and the portions were really good as well. My husband said he hasn’t had a pork joint like it before and was blown away. You won’t be disappointed with the food here and we are fussy. The staff are all so lovely and really attentive. We will def be back soon
