We had a meal here on Saturday as they were advertising a new menu. I had the salmon and my husband had the stuffed pork chop. Both dishes were so so lovely. The flavours were so fresh and the portions were really good as well. My husband said he hasn’t had a pork joint like it before and was blown away. You won’t be disappointed with the food here and we are fussy. The staff are all so lovely and really attentive. We will def be back soon

Friendly, comfortable place, good range of beers and bar snacks. The garden and view looked lovely, just a bit too cold to enjoy them on the day we visited.

Just had Sunday roast at this lovely pub. It was amazing, really home cooked and tasty. Generous portion sizes. Would highly recommend and we will be going back. Very good value too at £16.95 for roast dinner and a delicious home made pud. The staff were so nice and loved that the Landlord who is also the chef, came out to say hello and take our order. One very pleasant way to spend a Sunday lunch time.

An impromptu visit to find the nearest local pub after a cold morning!! How lucky were we to stumble across this beautiful pub. Absolutely excellent Sunday roast, 3 different meats to choose from and dessert included for a fabulous price. It was delicious.Sticky Toffee!!! Oh yes … Wowzers. A beautiful fire glowing, great choice of drinks, the staff/ owners were so friendly it was as if we lived in the village itself. Thank you..,

Unfortunately, the Desperado was warm, maybe just put in fridge!? But the view out to the paddocks from the garden made up for it.....this time. To glorious of a day to complain tbh.

Cute pub, ample parking, lovely garden with rural views. Warm beer, unfortunately, the day we visited. Just a heads up, the bench seat is a bit wobbly.

The Spanish tapas here have become a firm favourite, the dishes are all freshly cooked, as are the wonderful paellas, staff are always most helpful, and all washed down with a nice pint and a few glasses of Rioja (the sardines are pretty special too)

Local pub and haven’t been for almost a year, food was ok , just so disappointed how unfriendly the staff are . Could be a fantastic business, great location, . Where’s the customer service and friendly welcoming smile - sadly not here.!! Such a shame …

Driven by many times without a second glance. Seen them advertise tapas and thought I'd give it a go. Ordered 9 plates between 2 of us. We couldn't finish it all, which is unlike me. The tapas was amazing, really good. Well be back to try some more.

I went to this pub for my birthday with my parents, partner, and two children. The landlord and all the staff were excellent. I phoned beforehand to say that I'm a wheelchair user, and they went the extra mile to make us welcome. The landlord waited for our arrival and put a ramp ready and helped me into the pub and all the staff made an effort to talk to my two year old, and cleaned up after she spilt her orange juice everywhere! The tapas was really good as well!

The Half Moon is a nearby pub for us so we haven't used it as much as we should - which is a shame as we had a great meal the other night - staff very friendly (Georgia) & even Ken came out to say hello. As a wheelchair user it is always great to find pubs that have access (although the wooden ramp outside needed a run up as it was slippery when wet) Menu is just right as they only do food on a Friday & Saturday evenings from 5 - 9 but I understand they can do bar snacks other days of the week. (I would check that first, though) I had the Cod & Chips which was great - batter cooked just right without being greasy - said garnish was crisp & very fresh - my wife had the Thai Green Curry which was delicious, we then both had the Cheesecake - excellent. Next time I am going to try the Macaroni Cheese with Bacon & Mushrooms & Tiramisu. All desserts are made on the premises. The meal was very good value.

Our first visit to a pub since lockdown. COVID rules were clear and well observed. Warm welcome from Ken and his team. No food service at present but, great spot for a drink with friends and family (6 max). Gluten free Chummy Bluster Best Bitter from the local Gun Brewery on tap. Will be back soon. Fingers crossed that the Chummy Bluster is still the guest beer.

Actually we never managed to order- we printed out the menu and sent our text to the number on the menu which is wrong. So a word of caution... if you want a takeaway use the mobile number on the Web page. It is a shame they can’t correct this administrative error

Having arranged to meet friends to celebrate a 50th birthday, we decided to arrive early and eat first. The pub was fairly quiet (on talking to I believe the landlady this was due to an event in Mayfield) when we arrived. The menu had plenty of choice, and my wife an I bothered chose a Chicken Tandoori curry. The curry arrived, and was very nicely presented and appeared freshly prepared. It tasted very fresh (even with me having a cold) and it went down a treat. We also opted for deserts, which were simple affairs, but none the less tasty. Friendly, chatty staff, good food and good value. Definitely worth a visit.

It is so nice to have genuinely interesting pub options instead of the normal fare. I had a curry it was delicious ( I am vegetarian) My husband had the Keralan cod curry- he does not normally eat fish and said it was divine. My daughter had a lovely pizza. I would not hesitate to recommend

Very welcoming traditional pub. Wide choice of menu (not just chips with everything). Very friendly staff who made us very welcome and great range of beers including Harveys in tip top condition. Good to hear some witty banter at the bar between the locals before we had a post meal drink in the lovely garden over looking the downs.

A local pub, grumpy on purpose Landlord, see behind his humour but he is a great Chef and his food is always wonderful. The Landlady Jane is sweet and always welcoming. Good Beer, great food and their feature evenings for oriental food, curry etc are amazing!

Eaten here a couple of times lately and have to say of all the pubs in the area the food here is the best in terms of variety, flavour and value. Chef offers new dishes every week, seafood and game particularly good. Pizzas and burgers both best I've had around here. One of us a veggie and always several options (not that common in the sticks!). Most pubs in this area are essentially restaurants that also sell beer but this is also a really good local. Read the review below about lack of ambience my experience exact opposite, chef and landlady friendly and genuinely pleased to see you've enjoyed the food. Down to earth, unpretentious people. Can only recommend the place.

We stopped off here on the way back from Haywards Heath for an evening meal. This is a nice local pub with a very tasty and interesting menu. The landlady and landlord were very welcoming and we found the pub to have a nice atmosphere. My wife had the home made fish cakes and I had the chicken fajitas both of which were very well presented and just as tasty. The portions were generous and to my mind very good value for money. All accompanied by some real ale it made for a very nice evening.

The place is so Quaint and the food is delicious. I just wish servers would listen to what the customers say I had water with lime in it and I already had it mixed in the line was squeeze to perfection and the server came back by and I and he asked me if I wanted more water and I said yes, for halfway to the top of this ice.Keep gave me a full glass of water, or nearly. It would not be a big deal, but the fact is, I explicitly asked for him to fill it halfway again. These servers, these days, they're just giving you what they want to have, they're not understanding in our paying attention, but they want to get a great tip fortunate for them. We tip well my boyfriend and I. But I am really getting aggravated with this. So overall, the meal was fine. It's just at these people do not listen.

Really disappointed. Arrived at 4ish on a Tuesday in half term with our 15 and 11 year old to a completely empty pub, just one patron sat at the bar. Really lovely cosy large area next to the fire that was empty but immediately told by bar staff we couldn't sit there with children due to licensing rules! We were allowed to sit in the drafty back lobby by the gents loos - not so great. Weird atmosphere, we clearly weren't welcome, shame as we'd planned a few rounds and dinner but we headed back to our local accommodation instead. Looked like a really quaint pub just wish we'd realised it wasn't somewhere for families.
