The Royal Inn at Horsebridge is a historic Inn, perched on the River Tamar with a wonderful old horse bridge which crosses over from Devon to Cornwall. Gary is a great Landlord & brilliant Chef.

Great pub, even better location

Lovely pub, staff were great and food was excellent. Scallops were perfect. Venison and suet crust topped pie, amazing.

What a lovely pub adjacent to the river & bridge, character inside and lots of space outside made especially nice by the warm welcome we received when we called in for coffee despite the fact they weren’t due to open for another half hour.

The best country pub hands down. Lovely atmosphere, well kept cask beer, locally sourced ingredients, cooked to perfection. Love it.

Such a lovely local pub with so much warmth, charm and character. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff and nothing was to much trouble!! The food was so yummy and lovely big portion sizes!! We had the pan sealed scallops with new potatoes and salad, Venison burger with chips and salad, and a side order of onions rings which were huge!! We also had pudding which was apple crumble with custard and banoffee pie I had it with ice cream instead of the cream on it. The atmosphere was nice and relaxing. The lovely open fires were cosy, especially as it was cold and wet outside. Definitely recommended a vist to this charming old pub!! Thank you The Royal Inn!!

My wife and myself booked a table for 2pm on Sunday March 24th and arrived on time with our Maltese terrier Artie and were shown to our table, the pub was busy, busy but was served our drinks and our roast was ordered,the wife ordered Lamb and I ordered the Beef, it arrived in good time and was the best meal we have ever had out,it was perfect the meat was very tender and veggies perfect. The locals around us were chatty and obliging. We will return.

Visited for the first time today for lunch with couple of friends who are locals, great to find a “real” pub , terrific food, friendly staff , this pub rates in my top 5 in Devon / Cornwall, a real gem.

The food is great, traditional recipes, on today's menu was a lot of meat and gamey options. I wish there was a value for money option because it's just not good value here, it's London prices - there's nothing around £10, roasts are around £16. For that price I would want to be offered more vegetables than 1 piece of brocoli. The vegetarian roast is a strange rice and mushroom lump that obviously doesn't go with gravy snd potatoes. I wish pubs could get that right! Stuffing is a great alternative to a rice lump - you only get that with the meat version though! My son had a burger and chips, the chips are not cut there - they are from the bags you get at wholesalers - you see them in loads of pubs! We'll always go back because we're local but they need to consider better quality of foods for that price, they certainly need to offer more vegetables with a roast!

We had a great evening here with lots of bar banter and great food too. We’re not locals but popped in whilst visiting the area. If you’re old school pub goers who know how village pubs work then this is the place to visit. Not gastro but proper unpretentious and authentic. Highly recommended if you want a proper pub.

Great venue and very welcoming.

We really enjoyed food and beers. Staff at the bar didn't smile and not welcome. We thought we went in her house without permission. Maybe we went there on Saturday and we didn't book the table first. We don't have any idea about this because we came back to England after seven years of living a road.

Beautiful fifteenth century pub with a friendly atmosphere. We went for Sunday lunch. The roast was delicious, very well cooked. Also generous sized portions. Great value money. Would definitely recommend.

Everything was exceptional. The atmosphere, the food, the service, the location, simply perfect. If you get the chance to eat here, do. You will not be disappointed.

We have enjoyed eating here for years, and Gary has done very well in carrying on the tradition of tasty food in a delightful setting. My scallops were delicious as always, and our waitress Sophie was lovely. Looking forward to the next time!

Nice venue. Professionalism is high. Food is decent but eating a pinch of salt is not what 2 rosette is about. Service was enjoyable, but took so much time considering how many people they had. Manager needs to be on his game with training. He was like a host. Can be so much more than it is. Wine list is limited but very cheap prices.

Very poor experience of this pub - probably as a result of too many bookings taken for too few staff to cope. We waited to be shown to our table, waited for our drinks, waited for our order to be taken- although it never was taken. Never been told that our order couldn’t be taken because the kitchen was backed up and we had to wait 10 minutes (no one came after 30). After one hour from our booking time we still had not placed our order so we left without eating. The staff were extremely stressed, the lady behind the bar looked very near to tears and volunteered to us that she “ couldn’t cope “ . Not the experience you want when you go out for a meal.

On our family holiday we enjoyed a fantastic meal here on Thursday and was made to feel very welcome with my family of 5 incl our baby in a pushchair. Lovely locals atmosphere & so welcoming. Food was spot on , just what a nothern family needed to fill our tummy’s ! Thank you very much ⭐️

Completely misled by the other reviews - wondered if we were actually at the same place?! Food was really, really awful. Ordered the fish and chips. Fish was solid it was so overcooked! Chips were tasteless and greasy. Mushy peas were somehow gooey and bone dry at the same time. Scallop starter gave my partner a dodgy tummy & his burger main was also rubbish, he's had better in a lay by. Staff were really miserable and it's well over priced here. Don't waste your time, money or petrol going here. Deserves 0 stars - totally laughable. Stay away!

Amazing food with quick service, and a good selection of ales! My first time trying pheasant, and had venison here a couple of times as well. Between these, and their burgers, stroganoff, etc - all delicious, would love to come back.

It's one of those dream old fashioned British pubs with fine ales and friendly locals. These places are a national treasure and need to be kept alive.

My wife and I went to this establishment for a meal for the first time last night on arrival Paul made us feel very welcomed and comfortable. Paul explained the menu including specials we ordered food which arrived very well presented and generous portions. Food was of a very high quality,fresh and flavoursome along with excellent ales. Thank you Paul for excellent food and interesting conversation we will be back !

Well the sign outside says Grumpy Landlord and that is exactly what you get !!!.. Food and atmosphere is good but perhaps a holiday is in order for the family as I left with the feeling I would NEVER return after being asked to pay for a meal I had not ordered as someone else had made a mistake, perhaps a pub for locals but not us crockles...

A group of us all enjoyed a warm welcome and a very tasty, totally home cooked roast dinner. All fresh vegetables, tender meat and Yorkshire pud! One of our party enjoyed a delicious Hake dish. I would recommend this quaint old pub, plus there is great walks around it also.

Literally faultless, apart from the fact I live 15 miles from it. The menu isn't fancy, but it's so good. Excellent pub grub in an excellent pub.

My hubby and I visited here earlier in the week whilst staying in a converted barn close by. The food was amazing and freshly cooked to order as well as being great value for money. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We took a short stroll into Cornwall (literally a few steps away over the bridge) to walk our meal off. We would certainly return.

My first visit. Quaint little village pub in the middle of the countryside. Food was excellent. Party of 7 of us turned up without booking for lunch, we all had something different off the menu and everyone of us cleared our plates. Will definitely be coming back, I was very impressed!!
