I had breakfast with my partner. The food was basic, very small portion for the price. On one of the plates was spinach (see photos) and was too wet and soaked the bagels. The supposed poached eggs were more like eggs cooked in a frying pan with water. The bacon was quite tough. I would not recommend this place for breakfast. Lastly avoid ordering an orange juice, only very small glasses given

Passing by we dropped into Ralph's Cafe for breakfast. A nicely situated traditional cafe, and upon arrival we were attended to promptly. The food was served soon after and piping hot. While not the best quality we've had was of an acceptable standard. I had the full English, which was flavoursome. The sausages were nice, the eggs cooked perfectly but the bacon slightly overdone. My husband had the scrambled eggs, but he thought that tasted dry. My mug of coffee was lovely. Overall I would recommend a visit, but the kind advice I would like to mention is the number of handwritten notices/rules stuck around the cafe. Although I agree people talking loudly on phones, or videoing in the cafe is undesirable, the number of notices doesn't look very appealing, and may make customers feel a little uneasy, possibly reflective of owners attitude. We sensed a negative vibe in the cafe, which is a shame because I'm sure the owners/staff are lovely and run their business with passion. This is clear by the home-made cakes on offer. My advice as a fellow business owner (not in catering) would be to be a little more welcoming, rather than a hint of inconvenience when a customer arrives. The notices show frustration. If the owner reads this, I hope you take these comments with the goodwill that is meant.

The breakfast was delicious and the sausages were the best I’ve ever had. Lovely quirky little place and the hosts were great too, we had great conversations and put the world to rights! Highly recommend and would definitely back. 😊

Strange phone rule basically asked to leave and go outside if you answer a phone call. Ordered a breakfast for 5 people. it was 3 pm but just wanted an English breakfast so me and family went in ordered and waited when we got served we were told to hurry up as it was 3:30pm and the cafe shut at 3pm so just hurry up and finish. Not sure why thay served a family of 5 at closing time just to tell us to hurry. Though I was weird.

The bacon, eggs and sausage served are the Best in town 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 18 April 2024 Welsh Rarebit on toast and 2 pork sausages ... Wow! An awesome meal with great music in the background. Strange experience. Food was lovely - can't fault it! Service was frosty though - place was empty & 7 in our group. Instead of having two tables, we were asked to squeeze on to one. We were asked not to order off menu, directed not to use phones & then saw a note on menu to suggest 'tips' were expected! Did not feel welcome & felt like we were inconveniencing staff. TBF food was good & reasonably priced.

I recently visited this restaurant, and I must say, their food is simply amazing, especially the English breakfast. Every item was perfectly prepared and tasted delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant was also very pleasant, making the whole experience even better. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal in a lovely setting!

I popped in to get out of the cold as I was early for a appointment nearby and ordered a cappuccino. Staff were really friendly and there was a nice selection of cakes and pastries available. Wish I had more time as the breakfast menu looked good. My coffee was too.

I recently visited Ralphs cafe and, unfortunately, had an incredibly disappointing experience that compelled me to share my thoughts. From the outset, the front-of-house staff, particularly a lady who I assume is the owner, displayed an alarming level of rudeness and arrogance. Upon entering the cafe, I was met with an unwelcoming atmosphere, but nothing prepared me for the encounter with the lady at the front. Being told to go outside to use my phone to make an quick important call to my daughter, Not only was she dismissive and rude while taking my order getting it wrong, but when a fellow patron queried the exorbitant prices, her response was shockingly unprofessional. She not only defended the overpriced menu but went so far as to tell the patron not to come back if he had a problem with it. The poor taste and quality of the food only added to the disappointment. Each dish seemed to lack the care and attention that one would expect, especially given the steep prices. It was evident that corners were cut, and the flavors were lacking any depth or creativity. What shocked me even more was the lady's behavior after a pricing dispute. She proceeded to gossip and badmouth the questioning patron to anyone who would listen in the cafe. Such unprofessionalism is not only unpleasant for customers but also creates a toxic environment that is unacceptable in any establishment. I believe in providing constructive feedback, but my attempts to express my concerns were met with further arrogance and dismissiveness. It's disheartening to see an establishment with such potential marred by the disrespectful attitude of its front-of-house staff. In summary, I cannot recommend Ralph's based on my experience. The combination of poor food quality, exorbitant prices, and unprofessional behavior from the owner made for a regrettable visit. I hope this feedback encourages the management to reevaluate their practices and foster a more welcoming and customer-oriented environment.

What a lovely lovely spot in Forest Row! Cosy and comfortable. Friendly service. Tasty breakfast (with homemade white bread - delish) Love that there are hand written signs and notices, makes it more personal. Coffee is great. The couple who own it are warm and friendly. Overall it’s one of the best spots to have a breakfast/meal and I highly recommend it!

Great Cafe! I've Been going for years. Mega cafe!

We were just passing through Forest Row and were looking for somewhere to have breakfast and came across Ralph’s. It might look like any other breakfast café from the outside but the food and service was exceptional. We enjoyed an extremely well cooked full English breakfast with good quality ingredients, even the toast bread was really tasty, not your run of the mill bread. Staff were friendly and chatty. I was irritated reading some of the reviews criticising the owners for not allowing customers to watch streamed media or take phone calls in the café. It’s their shop and they can set their own rules, if it doesn’t suit you just eat somewhere else. Why should other customers be subjected to your noise when we’re eating? Stop acting so entitled. They also do lunches and home-made cakes. We would definitely come here again and highly recommend it.

A very friendly cafe with a lovely atmosphere.- Breakfasts with fantastic toast to sandwiches, soups and homemade cakes. Wide variety of drinks both hot and cold . Would not hesitate to recommend to others .

Every time we visit Forest Row from London we have to make time for brunch at Ralph’s. It has quite a varied menu. This time our group had amazing fry ups, omelettes loaded with green vegetables, Goan chicken curry and the most wonderful flatbreads and french fries. Great coffees ,cakes and delightful service too. What’s not to like !

Popped in for a late lunch after a delightful cycle from Tunbridge Wells with my youngest son. We were warmly Welcomed by the couple who run the cafe even thought they were 1/2 from closing time. We drank really delicious lattes and ate very tasty bowls of soup. All very reasonably priced and a friendly atmosphere. Would recommend unreservedly.

Shocking! Coronation chicken sandwich tasted like it had a pot of salt in it, the 2 staff were bickering in customer earshot. Asked for a glass of water and given a paper cup! A note is placed on the table basically requesting tips… up the game and they might start earning these!

Cakes are homemade by Carol and are the best. Excellent coffee and lovely people that run this cafe. We have tried all the cafes in forest row and this one is our favourite by far.

Lunch is important to me and you get a good one at Graham and Carol's café. I always have a main course cooked with flair by Graham followed by fresh dessert / cake baked beautifully by Carol. (Her strawberry ice cream is the best ever...) What more could you want? It is also reasonably priced, and clarity regarding tips is welcome given how confusing it can be elsewhere.

I wonder if there is a little bit of an agenda here with some of the reviews. The facts: this is a lovely little cafe. The food is homemade and excellent. The service is very good and the people that run it are lovely, it's also very reasonably priced. I had the smoked salmon and scrambled egg on a bagel for breakfast today and it was probably th best I have had. Most cafes offer this breakfast combo but it's not presented as well OR tastes as good as it was at Ralph's. So, the other stuff. There is a note on each table asking people not to take calls on their mobiles inside the cafe but to do so outside. Likewise not to watch streaming media either. What's the problem with this? It's their place and they can set their own rules. So if you don't like it, leave and don't eat there. Don't throw a queenie and leave poor reviews about the service and food when we all know it's not warranted. People need to grow up. I highly recommend a visit. The food is lovely and I'll be returning in the next few weeks to try their lunch specials which sound lovely. Highly recommended.

Billionaires breakfast, is awesomeness on a plate. This place has lovely decor, is very clean and comfortable and the service is friendly and quick. The coffee is top notch and unlike many places in the current economy, they continue to use the best ingredients and mostly local so the bacon and the eggs are beautifully flavourful, rather than the cheap, salty bacon and flavourless eggs many have turned to. I really look fwd to my monthly visit to the area, as Ralph's cafe is the highlight of my week.

Visited Ralph's last week - the first time in a while as we've moved out of the area. Usual friendly welcome with nice hot coffee and delicious home-made cakes. Good to see the written request that people show consideration to other customers and don't their use mobiles, particularly for loud conversations or to stream. Surprised my sandwich was made with industrially produced, soft white sliced bread. These days I expect something better than that.

Really really rude lady running the cafe! There were only 4 people in the cafe, (our group of 3 and 1 other) The other person in the cafe suddenly got up and left as she was so rude to him. She shouted at him to get off his laptop as they don’t allow you to use in there. Signs in the cafe saying; “No streaming” “Take all calls outside” Now there was just us 3. One of us was looking at their phone and she shouted at him to get off his phone! When questioned “there is no one else in the cafe”, she replied by saying “I don’t want to listen to your sh*t” The food was basic - 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausages and beans, which cost £13 with a drink which is way above average, plus the bacon was dry and the beans were so hard! When we went to pay and said it was a bit too overpriced for what we got she replied saying “if you don’t like it go somewhere else!” There are notes all over the tables basically begging for tips, saying about where people use cards more than cash they don’t get tipped. So it says about leaving them a tip as cash! People tip when they receive good service/food, and there was none of that! As we left, she shouted “oh just pi*s off!” Wow… is the word to describe this! Poor customer service! 0/10

We stopped on route to have lunch, however, were quite amazed to read handwritten notes on the table about taking any phone calls outside and not going on media, but worst wa about leaving a tip in cash. For two senior ladies, who might use a phone in an emergency and who usually leave a tip, this did not go down at all well. We just had a cuppa and moved on vowing never to stop there again. RUDE!

I have just had a amazing breakfast with my friend Ann at the Ralph’s cafe it was the best breakfast I’ve ever had so much taste the lady Carol was so lovely the feeling was so homely no rush to go thank you and or taking me to this lively cafe I will be back again for more food and thank you Carol and husband for serving food with a lovely smile Nicky 😘😘😘

Coffee shop was empty and I quietly made a call and was told to go outside. No other patron in the shop so not sure who I would have disturbed!! Apple crumble not great. The crumble was doughy. Tells me he has clotted cream then serves it with runny cream.

Me and my son popped in there last week 3 times , we just had some toast and tea/black coffee before heading to work and Thursday we decided to have a full English, it's was very good fry up to be fair the woman running it was lovely very chatty , polite its just an all round nice little place and she makes all the cakes herself , we will be definitely be heading back in next time we're in forest row

I have visited Ralph's a lot over the years, Graham and Carol are delightful hosts of the cafe and offer a great selection of homemade cakes and fresh coffee. The food is cooked in their kitchen and whilst they offer the usual all day breakfasts and sandwiches they also offer some great dishes that you wouldn't usually find. The cafe itself has a laid back atmosphere with interesting paintings and calm music playing. In comparison to other local cafes it is less expensive but the quality of the food is as good if not better. I will be visiting many times in the future!

We often call in here for a coffee after our walk,and today tried the Goan Curry which was excellent,would recommend. My wife was pleased with her Jacket Potato dish. A nice cafe run by friendly people, always made welcome

My favourite place for breakfast.

Stopped here while visiting the area, but won’t visit again. The service and welcome was as warm as an ice cube. We orders simple food. An all day breakfast and some eggs on toast. The breakfast was awful. The bacon was so over cooked it was more like beef jerky. The sausage was cheap and also over cooked. The toast was more like croutons and the beans had a skin on them. Scrabbled eggs on toast. Toast drowning in butter, the eggs must have been sparrows eggs as the portion was so small. On a positive note they did garnish both dishes with a sprinkling of parsley for visual appeal, but not everyone likes parsley. The rating this place has on trip advisor must have been from a previous owner. Do yourself a favour and give it a miss.

Well, 3 hungry anglers heading from one lake to another happened apon this place and what a result it was! We all went for the double everything breakfast. As soon as the beautifully buttered thick toast came out, I knew it was gonna be good. The main breakfast came out and all items ticked the boxes. The cook even used the Sausage as a breakwater!! He knew his Onions!! Great staff. Spacious comfortable seating.

Great,friendly cafe. Owners are always friendly and willing to discuss anything over a cup of tea. Prices are good with great food cooked to your own liking.

Unfriendly (owner?) place is often not open, and there seem to be few people in there since the Seasons Cafe opened across the road , which is often full, probably because they treat customers nicely.

Have sadly had to retract my very positive 5 star review as the last couple of visits were a disaster. Incredibly hostile attitude. Something appears to have happened to these people and they are taking it out on customers, and it's not okay.

Stayed open to rescue us from having to resort to a Kebab or trying to find a way to make other more trendy places notice we exist. Food was spot on and service was excellent. Price was reasonable but I got carried away with take away cakes.

Always the best start to the day. Honest and fresh food with honest and professional staff. No better sausage and onion bap in the south east. Broad and thoughtfully put together menu.

Was on ride out with few mates around the majestic Ashdown forest. Stopped in forest Row for lunch . My big mate had the double full English I had breakfast bap .all food hot and great and reasonably priced .we will use it again for sure

Great people, good ingredients used and nice cakes... if you have the room. You can have a fry up or other dishes eg they do a decent fish soup and Goan curry. Good coffee too!

This place is a hidden gem, the owners are accommodating , friendly and helpful. The vegan curry I had was imaginative and incredibly tasty and looked fantastic too. Even came with a nice flatbread with oil and tabasco on it, and came with decent mango chutney. There is a reasonable choice of teas and cakes. They have proper sea salt at the tables. I wish I had discovered this place sooner, I foolishly assumed it was an ordinary cafe. My only wish is that they didn't have WiFi, sadly it is hard to get away from these days and a friend of mine cannot visit due to there being WiFi.

Absolutely superb. Friendly welcome from the point we walked in, great inclusive chat and timely checkbacks. The menu is clear and descriptive with a great selection of food. I chose the billionaires breakfast and boy was that an absolute delight! Superbly cooked quality ingredients presented to a restaurant standard with a taste to match (including the home made seasoned pork patty, that was delicious). This might sound a bit OTT but it really made my day, to find a down to earth friendly cafe serving such great food is rare and these guys nailed it. Thankyou and we shall see you again soon!

We go to Ralph's each year in the summer. What a pleasure. There is always a warm and friendly welcome. I particularly enjoyed the tea, a Turkish fruit infusion... delicious. And the gluten-free biscuits are difficult to resist.

I come here at least once a week for a coffee (and sometimes a cheeky cake!). Ralph’s serves the best coffee in town - smooth, creamy and very tasty.

Ralphs cafe serves much more than your usual fayre. Fish soup was well worth the recommendation, perfectly prepared spanish omelette and salad, followed up with some delicious homemade cakes. All washed down with coffee and pots of tea. If we lived closer, I would definitely be a regular.

Having experienced a very unfriendly welcome from across the road earlier in the day, we enjoyed a genuinely warm welcome at Ralph’s this lunchtime. Fresh honest food and a lovely smoothie, thank you Ralph and co!

A selection of genuinely excellent home made cakes (made by owner) that are fresh- not the bought in refrigerated rubbish you so often get! Coffee was good too. And very reasonable pricing too. Will be returning.

Lovely friendly place for tea and cake, breakfast or lunch

We had won a cream tea for two at a local school fete donated by Ralph's. We do not normally eat cream teas however Ralph's were more than happy to provide an alternative, well done them. Have also been in for breakfast excellent value and quality.
