This is a lovely little pub. I visited for the first time last week with friends. After we ordered our meals our party noticed a strong sewer smell and we asked the wait staff about it. The staff told us the pub is hooked up to a septic system, and sometimes they turn off the pump. The putrid smell was enough to get us to cancel our food orders and go elsewhere. I would love to try this place again in the future and I hope this issue was a one off.

We were really excited to try this place out after reading the reviews so went along with 3 adults & two toddlers. We quickly realised this was not a child friendly establishment. The place was very quiet so I’d of thought they’d of been grateful of more customers but it didn’t seem that way at all. Food was mediocre at best and we all felt a little disappointed & uncomfortable.

I have been frequenting this pub for over three decades. It began serving food a couple of years ago after having had caravan food vendors for a while - they began by serving pizzas and moved on to other cuisine. There was an excellent manager and the owner was present almost always. The owner is now never present, the manager moved on (big loss) and the pub appears to be run by very young people, some possibly teen-agers. We had such a consistently good experience there before this manager left and the owner disappeared. Since then we've had two separate meals that were possibly the worst we've had anywhere and one overpriced meat pie served with raw leeks. The first (a pizza, after many wonderful pizzas in the past) we just abandoned and didn't say anything, the second, we complained about but were more or less told, "bad luck". No offer of recompense, nothing. Very cold, and the kid who served us was almost mocking. It's a real shame because that was one of our 'go to' places we could always trust. I was beginning to bring work colleagues in. On those occasions the bill could be £150+. That would have happened once a month and would probably have led to them coming with their friends, but I don't even want to recommend this pub any more. I'm hoping that others begin to review their experiences and that somehow it gets back to the owners (who seem impossible to contact) and something will change, because it's a wonderful place indeed, in the right hands. I want my favourite pub back. At the moment, I just don't want to chance it. The only people getting real value are the regulars who flock around the bar. Please consider getting some experienced people to look after the pub. (It would also be lovely to see them trained in customer service, or, at the very least, customer biased behaviours). Until that happens, we will not be spending £50+ a week there any longer. There's just no one in charge at the Frog and Nightgown who cares anymore.

Met up with some old friends for a light lunch. Told them there was no need to book as it was a Monday in winter. But when I arrived it was busy - a sure sign of its increasing popularity. The tearoom manager, Paula, said she felt sure she could find a table for the three of us and sure enough, with a cheerful smile, she quickly cleared a vacating table and we were able to order a superb light lunch in a seat by the window. This is truly a jewel in the crown in the countryside on the Surrey/Sussex borders. I think it would be nice to formally add the name of the location (Wimlands) to the address as it adds to the whimsical nature of this wonderful little place!

Beautiful country pub. Lovely cosy log fire, which was very welcoming on a such a cold day. We had booked for lunch, but the young guy could not find our booking for a few minutes. After making our minds up what we wanted to eat from the menu my husband wanted fish n chips, we were told this option was not available, which was a little disappointing. He decided on fish finger sandwiches & I had the panini which was on special. Both were tasty. Both came with a side salad. Had to ask the young guy who served us for serviettes & knife & forks. I would return to this friendly, quirky, frog friendly pub again. Garden area looked pretty for the summertime.

Had a lovely lunch with Mum and Dad! Had chosen here due to gluten free options. I chose a jacket potato. All the food was fresh and tasty. The skin of the potato could have been a little more crispy, as we ordered early it hadn't had extra time to crisp! It is a comfortable, if a little chilly as a venue. This shout out is for Bonnie, who like her name, was smiley, friendly, chatty and ooked after us well. Thank you x

Had a pleasant afternoon at their tea room, with a group of friends and relatives. It was ideal, as some wanted only coffee and snacks, some wanted a beer and some a meal. The staff are charming and the service quick and efficient. Order at the bar once you have found a table. We choose to sit outside at one of the many tables. The pub is dog friendly, which is a bonus. There is ample parking available in their car park. It’s worth noting that pizzas are only available Wednesday to Saturday. However the sandwiches were nice and we will return another day to try the pizza.

Great place. The pizzas are awesome and the service by the super friendly staff is excellent. They let themselves down however by a very limited choice of beers. There are so many awesome breweries nearby, Firebird, Brolly, Dorking etc etc. Why is it they only have Surrey Hills Brewery Ranmore on. Not a bad beer, but not as good as the beers from nearby Firebird and Brolly. Most of the nearby breweries supply beers in both Keg and Cask.

The place has moved on somewhat. Used to call in here (probably nearer 30 years ago) when it was just one small bar (still there) with very limited space inside and a vast beer garden outside. It used be very much the pub that looked and felt like someone's house that was able to serve drinks. Roll forward to the present day and its a fully fledged pub with all the facilities you'd expect. Small but nice choice of real ales, interesting dinner menu but relies heavily on Pizzas. Having said that food was very good and plentiful. Harvey's bitter kept very well. Lovely evening spent there. Recommended.

Visited last night with two friends for dinner and were very disappointed to find that as of yesterday the evening menu had changed significantly with only a choice of several small plates (tapas style) some sides and limited desserts. Extensive pizza menu but we had gone looking forward to the menu stated on the website and still currently on there today Having said that the food we had was excellent and the staff very friendly. By combining several small plates you could make a larger meal We did get money deducted from the bill but needless to say it didn’t detract from our disappointment and not having the opportunity to sample the lovely dishes on the website menu

I just read a revue from someone (posting as fly on the wall?) who gave a bad account of this gem of a place. Surprised me as, even though exceptionally busy during my visit today, I found the staff pleasant and helpful. The organisation and facilities like clear signs for entry an exit, sanitising gel at entrances, open/vacant signs at the toilets, spaced out tables, large open sided gazebo etc. etc., are the best for miles. Considering all I give this place 5 stars!

Visited for an afternoon drink in the sun as had previously passed and it looks to be a beautiful pub . Upon entering the beer garden we were immediately shouted at by a customer that told us we needed to order from a hatch in the car park, there was a notice stating that you had to order inside, we then entered the pub at the first entrance and was told we should have entered at the other entrance and followed the one way system . There was absolutely no brief upon entering, the staff were not wearing masks and nobody seemed particularly bothered about advising us . This is by far the most poorly organised establishment I’ve visited post lockdown . The bar staff team were all young woman, very unfriendly, no smiling or customer engagement and made us feel very unwelcome . It’s a great looking venue but heavily let down by staff .

There was nobody inside the cafe and they weren't particularly busy but when I interrupted the lady laying out a tea tray to ask about disabled access to the garden, i was told "that's it"... ok!! Actually it isn't, we took the wheelchair the long way round the back... thanks. The 2 servers then proceeded to ignore us for the next 5 minutes it took them to serve a previous customer. For your information, an "I will be right with you" and maybe a smile, goes a long way. We were then barked at for not knowing we needed a table number. The young girl got better, she was very helpful about dairy intolerances, so thank you. Apparently my dad and the landlord had a differing opinion on how to serve ale... he was going to pay for another drink but the landlord slammed the beer on the bar and walked off....Really unwelcoming visit...

First visit to a location which initial impressions were confusing, was it a pub (reason for visit) or a tea-room ? Doubts were added when treated to a bout of Germanic efficiency ,you must provide your table number when ordering beer in the tea-room,pointing out we were the only people in the bar was of no avail. However things did improve from then on,the beer was good, the sausage sandwiches excellent from the number of people in the tea room it is obvious popular venue. From the activities and notice boards there is a strong community focus. After some reflection this type of multi-use pub.is probably an indication of the future if smaller rural pubs are to survive. Will make a return visit one evening when it transforms back to a 100% pub.

This delightful establishment is a bit tucked away off the beaten track but it's definitely worth a visit. The tearoom is bright and fresh and serves a very good cup of coffee and a tasty variety of cakes which our group enjoyed. The staff are very attentive and you never have to wait long for your order. With the surrounding countryside it's a very pleasant experience. Parking used to be a big problem but they now they have a car park adjacent to the building.

Took a friend here today before our walk in the local bluebell woods. The pub is situated down a narrow country lane between north Horsham & Faygate & overlooks the countryside. There is a small carpark and parking in the road outside. The tea room is quite small but has a garden with plenty of seating & country views across the fields. The staff were very friendly welcoming & helpful. We will definitely be going again.

What a quaint venue for a warm welcome and home cooked food. Absolutely delightful with a vast choice of a cooked breakfast to a simple piece of cake, considering the smallness of the seating area. Do visit but book as very, very popular. And if you are a dog lover there's no end supply of visitors with pubs as the beer garden is available all year round where the gorgeous beasts can enjoy being petted etc, loved every moment. Oh and if you are not on a diet try the uncut granary bread- Yum! Thank you all.

If you want a traditional English lunch in a traditional English setting-this is it. A small pub on one side with about 6 draft choices-a beautiful little fire place crackling away, or a tea room that seats about 20 and a nice selection of sandwiches for lunch. There is not a huge selection of food, but what is there is good. The place is very clean, the staff very friendly. All in all a nice stop.

Pub and tearoom just off the main road from Horsham to Crawley. Excellent choice and quality of food. Great soups and ploughman’s for lunch all freshly made and presented. Reasonable prices as well. You can get pub drinks in the tearoom. Easy parking. Recommended.

Had a lovely, relaxing time here last week. The menu was interesting, with plenty of selection. The prices were reasonable and the food was delicious (so much so that after our lunch we returned for coffee and a huge slice of carrot cake; it was so big that we couldn't finish it, so they offered to wrap it up in cling film for us to take home and eat later!) Although the tearooms and adjoining bar are rather small, there was lots of seating outside, perfect for a sunny summer's afternoon. The staff were very friendly, and obviously had a good rapport with their local patrons. The only downside was the wasps which decided to drop in and disrupt what was otherwise a very pleasant meal... which they unfortunately can't do much about!

We had a very tasty Sunday lunch with our family. The Landlady and team were all lovely and made us very welcome; happily accommodating our 6 month grandson and his pushchair with absolutely no difficulty.

On a Monday, for the first time and with my daughter Laura, we had lunch at Crates and it was out of this world. The food was delicious, the products were fresh and last but not least, the staff was extremely friendly and what's more very helpful, especially Cheryl, Nina and Lisa who also happens to be the owner.
