The Frog at Skirmett in Wycombe

Outstanding - food was absolutely divine. We stayed over and had to be away early so landlady got up earlier than usual and made us bacon butties and tea and coffee to take with us. Went above and beyond to make us welcome.

Good country pub with both a large restaurant and a bar area for eating. Current owners have only been in place for 5 months and working hard to establish a good reputation. The onion soup starter was excellent. As a main, I had fish and chips. The fish was a good size and not smothered in an excess of batter which so often happens. Nice choice of wines and reasonably priced.

Lovely pub, great service and excellent food. Good selection of beers as well. Went for drinks and dinner, bar staff friendly and helpful. The food was great, menu was interesting and all dishes were had were high quality. There is also a great fire place which was welcome on a November evening.

We were a party of six, sat in the restaurant area. Five of us wanted to order off the restaurant menu, with my wife preferring a sausage baguette from the bar menu. I was told by the landlady that my wife wasn’t allowed to have the baguette as that was only served in the bar area. Pathetic

We did not feel welcome from start to finish and from reading some other reviews, reassure it wasn’t imagining it. The food was lovely and enjoyed the meal best we could, however, we found the landlady cold and abrupt, it left us feeling uncomfortable and we left once we finished our meals. Beautiful setting but unfortunately shall not be back.

Wonderful warm welcome by staff. Had a pint went for a walk then came back and stuff ourselves with the most delicious food. We had three courses. And enjoyed every crumb. Food was fresh and very tasty. Goats cheese and beet starter was spot on. We will be back…

Very comfortable overnight stay. We were made extremely welcome and very much enjoyed dinner and breakfast at the pub. We stayed as we were visiting the nearby vineyard, which is only about a mile and a half away, so convenient if you want to take advantage of the wine tasting!

We had such a pleasant evening here. Food was delicious, staff super friendly and very well kept real ales too! Definitely recommend to anyone local/travelling near this area.

I have visited The Frog for lunch many times, but this was the first dinner. The service was excellent (as always) and the food was lovely. My husband had a homemade burger and it was delicious. Really enjoyable (double) birthday treat!

One of the best roast lunches I’ve ever had. Every bite was delicious and my after lunch cup of tea came with exquisite tiny homemade shortbreads. Lovely fun atmosphere and beautiful views from the garden. Next time I’ll stay in one of their rooms and enjoy a full weekend.

Perfect setting for lunch. We were on a country walk and didn’t want a big Sunday roast. We were very pleased the baguette menu was available, which we had with chips. The sausage and fried onion one was divine!

Found The Frog on a drive out and glad we did . It was a pleasant summer day so sat in the garden with our two pups. We had a couple of hot baguettes and some drinks. Food good, service very good too. Fellow with a pony tail and a blonde girl were on the ball and looked after us. Nice spot, well worth a visit .

A stunning little pub with gorgeous views and a lovely vibe. The accommodation was clean and spacious with all the amenities that we wanted and needed. Comfy two night's and easy to get into late after we'd been out at a wedding! Partner and Dad had dinner and said it was excellent, breakfast with myself and my partner the morning of check-out was delicious. Overall if I'm in the area again I would choose to stay here. Staff friendly, welcoming and very helpful.

A one night stay on our return home. Landlord was really helpful nd welcoming. Room comfortable and good value. Food was superb including the breakfast. Will certainly stay there again.

Stayed here as attended the Wine & Beer tasting... it is a big hill to walk to farm from the B&B, but possible with time and good shoes. Such a fantastic place... lovely service, perfect room, delicious diner & breakfast.

Nice place to drive out to however our review mostly ends there. Even though it was not busy when we came in, the landlady is rather gruff and comes off in our books as rude, and non welcoming. Asking her simple questions she is abrupt and non-engaging. The food is the food -- hot, not slow or quick but it filled a hole. We had for some time wanted to drop in for a meal, and given our experience won't be back. The food is average, not by any means exceptional.

Booked an early dinner on a Monday night so we were initially on our own but it soon filled up. Teddy bears on out of service tables a nice touch but the dining room lacks ambiance especially on a chilly evening and the lights need a dimmer switch. Food was nice - tempura prawns tasty but "hot and sour" dressing lacked chilli heat. Disappointed duck breast on website had been replaced by leg which was rather dry and could have done with more sauce but excellent fish and chips although surprised no peas. Rice pudding with armagnac prunes cloyingly sweet. Service was charming only a young lad but attentive and capable. If the room matched the food they'd be on to a winner.

Had a 3 course meal on a Saturday evening in Sep 2020. As always (and I've been here many times before) the food was absolutely fantastic! I enjoyed every mouthful and left feeling very satisfied having had a lovely evening. I found the staff friendly and accommodating. I'm having lunch here again this week and reccomend this lovely little gem of a pub in the country side!

Had quick lunch here today, just a couple of starters. The loaded jacket and the salted sticky chicken. The food, especially the chicken was delicious. Both dishes looked as if someone had put a lot of care and pride into the presentation and like I say tasted lovely. Nice rebellion beer, scenic surroundings, friendly staff wearing masks etc. We said we’d be back for dinner soon.

Staff were so hilariously miserable, it felt like we'd walked in on a big family argument! Table was not sanitised, was still sticky - to hell with the pandemic.Old waitress with no personality made us feel unwelcome, despite our family being excited about dining out.The food was deep fried greasy & overpriced, we are talking kebab shop style grease.The fish and chips are cooked in the same oil as all the meats, forward thinking, I hear you say? Despite us eating at this restaurant a few times already & having asked the same question - chef challenged us at table - apparently our fault for not making clear. Hmmmm. Unsavoury staff, horrible food. Waste of time and Money - couldn't get out of there quick enough.

This must be the only pub in the area that is not participating in the Eat Out To Help Out scheme! Disappointing.

We remembered an excellent meal here a couple of years ago so we booked for lunch and were delighted to find that high standards of cuisine and presentation have been maintained. Each dish was delicious. A splendid relaxing meal in the fine setting of this well located restaurant.

Still one of the best pubs in the area, and one of the best anywhere. Excellent food and a well kept house.

Good place to go to eat outside during the covid problems but although there is some attempt at safety measures, it was disappointing that the main one of wearing face masks or visors to protect their customers was not adopted by the two staff serving meals. The carrying of plates of food without this protection therefore poses a risk. The tables are well spaced out and the ambiance friendly. Food was good but expensive for what it was. Parking is a bit limited but some car drivers used the roadside.

Why should we pay full price for a beer out of a plastic cup. I know we are living in difficult times but what is wrong with a dishwasher and some plastic washing up gloves. It's bad for the environment and makes you feel like a child. The garden is pretty scruffy too.o.k.

It's hard to beat the location of the Frog - set in the heart of the Chiltern's gentle hills. We took a friend here for a (very belated) birthday lunch and our first meal out since the arrival of the plague. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Frog. Everything had been beautifully arranged for properly spaced seating, with teddy bears sitting at the unused tables. We shared starters of tempura prawns then had duck. The food was delicious and the service friendly and exemplary. It was a great way to get back to the joys of eating out.

We were staying in the area and decided to try this pub for an evening meal. The landlord was not put out when we changed our booking from eating inside to dinning out in the beer garden as it was a beautiful evening. I ordered the burger and my partner ordered the duck both mealsWhere delicious and I can truthfully say it was probably one of the best meals I have ever eaten. We will be making the 90 minute drive to dine there again really soon

I’ve had 2 lunches in the Frog since reopening a week or so ago and it was so good to be back at our favourite local pub. The food (especially the rice pudding) was top notch as ever and the service was friendly and efficient.There was a slight issue with my sea bass (first time in 20 years as a regular) and I was kindly treated to a free pud and coffee which was very generous.I personally am comfortable with no masks and gloves as there are 0 confirmed cases in the area and value a bit of normality after the tedium of lockdown. All tables were cleaned thoroughly and guests asked to sanitise at the door, so it felt safe but not clinical.Well done, Frog, we’ve missed you!

This was our first visit to The Frog at Skirmett and I have to say the food was terrific. After a great walk in the beautiful countryside around The Frog we sat outside on a sunny afternoon, the service was good and everything we ordered was fresh, hot and very well prepared. We had the Pan Fried Seabass -great! Hambledon Beef Burger -very good, and the Parmigiana di Melanzana – good but very rich and would be better served with a slice of brown artisan bread. Regarding social distancing this had been thought about and we felt OK but more tables outside would be good and they could have been spread out more and we thought waiting staff could have worn masks and gloves. Tip – you can only book tables inside but not outside so book a table inside then change to outside if one is available and the weather is OK. Also if driving and you have booked get there early to get a place in the car park.

Our first forray out of Wales, and our first meal out since Lockdown began. The service was quick and faultless. The food very good, particularly the salt and pepper chicken starter and the honied duck main. Home made shortbread biscuits were light crisp and creamy, "the best shortbread I've ever eaten" said my friend Vicky (several times!) Lucy served us, she was charming. Thanks one and all including the bears who kept us all socially distanced.

Stayed for 1 night with friends which was lovely being able to eat and drink without arranging taxis. The food was first class with a good choice of Starters, Mains and desert including a fabulous cheese board. The local beer was excellent and the wine choice equally as good, with desert wine to finish the evening off. Roaring log fire and old fashioned pub (as they should be) with lovely friendly staff. Ideal location for an overnight stay if visiting the Chilterns Winer, a short walk to/from the pub.

We stopped by for a refreshing drink to break a lovely country walk. Bar was full so we asked the lady in charge if we could sit in what was at the time an empty restaurant. With a very ungraceful side glance we were told bluntly to go and sit at the bar where we had to ask some customers if we could share their space. I can only say that with such a poor customer service, that is 2 potential customers that will never come back.On a side note, if you don't want people to come in with their muddy boots, make sure you provide enough shoe covers at the entrance.

Following a walk in the area with 6 friends popped in for a quick bite to eat. What a lovely baguette at good prices and served within an excellent time and tasted delicious. We will return.The pub was packed which is great to see.
