We stayed here for one night during a road trip through the South of England and had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. The Inn has a charming old-world feel to it, complete with a lively pub and rooms that still open to actual keys. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the bathrooms spacious, the beds comfortable. The food was awesome: all the dishes we (a family of five with three sons that are always hungry) had were of excellent quality and generous quantity, and the breakfast - buffet plus separate items from a menu - was just as great. Finally, the staff: very friendly, kind and helpful. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome, great team. A great place to visit, highly recommended.

We hired the main restaurant space here for my mum's significant birthday, with catering for ~50 prior. Really excellent service both on the lead up to to the day, and during. Superb, generous buffet served promptly, and we were able to customise this beforehand. The staff also agreed to provide balloons and table cloths at cost to dress the room. All of this was coordinated by Rachel, who was very helpful and efficient through out. We also ate here a few months beforehand before booking, to try it out, and had a great meal (and the odd pint of local beer!) then too.

Wouldn’t hesitate to stay and or eat here again! Nice room, comfy bed, fab modern en-suite with big walk in shower. Fridge in room. Plenty of tea coffee etc and a cute bottle of fresh milk in fridge. Courtyard with beautiful hanging baskets. Had a meal in the Restaurant. Really impressed and the staff were so friendly and attentive. They truly have got it right here. Well done!

What can I say , what a great place to stay and eat . Casper , Owen and Ethan are a true credit to the industry and also the general manager they all stand apart to a very high level. They looked after me and my partner to an amazing high standard . If you want a great place to stay and to eat look no further. The food quality is exceptional,attention to detail and quality is second to none. If you cant decide on a dessert go for the full platter your will not be disappointed. The Hotel is a true gem in a crowded market place , this is a genuine review after a great experience. The team at this hotel and restaurant and truly focused on providing and excellent experience from start to finish.

Lovely Sunday lunch with a menu full of options. Generous portions with no skimping on quality. Roast beef was melt in the mouth, steak cooked exactly as asked for (the mark of skill), all piping hot. I was pleased to see that tables were not crammed together in the restaurant - such a nice environment when people aren't squashed together. Will return!

Went here with the doggo and was incredibly happy I did so. Staff are amazing. Got a burger , asked to buy a bit of chicken for the dog, luckily it was end of Sunday and got some amazing END of joint. Accommodations very homely, staff are fantastic. Food is top notch. Highly recommend. Leaving this review before I’ve even left haha !

Excellent lunch, homemade bread which was delicious used for our open sandwiches, loaded with chicken and bacon and served with a fresh and tasty salad. Added home cooked chips for just an extra £2 per portion. Would not hesitate to recommend for lunch. Excellent menu, quality of produce and value for money.

Stunning room, amazing dinner and fabulous breakfast. Would so recommend the George from every angle, staff are friendly and helpful, food is amazing, I’m a coeliac and nothing was to much trouble, would thoroughly recommend as a base for anyone visiting the area or the Cotswolds

Fabulous food as always in delightful surroundings with great service. 6 of us on New Year s Day, one of whom is a chef himself, and nothing but positive comments from anyone about any aspect of the experience. Thank you as always to Rachel, Darren and the Team for making this every visit special.

Nous avons séjourné une nuit là-bas. C'était charmant et la localisation est très bonne car nous voulions être tranquilles. Jolie petite chapelle en face. Les vitres ne sont pas doublées mais il n'a pas fait froid et il n'y a pas eu de bruit. Nous avons dîné là-bas et pris le petit déjeuner. La nourriture était excellente et le prix du dîner raisonnable, nous avons vraiment bien mangé. Les plats sont composés de produits locaux, ce qui est important à souligner. Un de nos meilleurs moments !

Stayed overnight for 3 days in the cottage annex and couldn't have been happier. Room quiet and staircase certainly a positive feature along with the sleeping quarters. Stand out experience was the dining with meals consumed in both main restaurant and bar, served by friendly staff, and great choice and quality. Would have no hesitation in recommending for anybody wanting a stay in this area.

This was completely a positive experience and better than anticipated. The rooms were comfortable and quiet. They do look over a road but this road is quiet overnight and although full I didn't hear other guests going up and down. Rooms are spotless, well maintained and the shower was warm with decent pressure. Staff are great, shout out to Rich who made us feel so welcome and their chef is clearly exceptional. My mum is celiac and they took this seriously and were able to fully cater, including homemade GF bread at breakfast (which was just available not pre-ordered). The pub is located a little way outside Stonehouse/Stroud so driving is necessary, but it is so lovely being right in the country and able to drive into the towns as you wish, Gloucester was about a 20mins drive away too and much busier than i imagined. I would 100% stay again, just go by for food and recommend others do the same. Finally my guide dog was also made most welcome.

We visited twice, once for breakfast, and a couple of days later for supper. The full English was splendid and knocked spots off the one we had had the previous day at the Gloucester farm shop services the previous day. They bake their own delicious bread - we tried the white and brown but not the rosemary and sea salt focaccia. At supper between us we tried the most of the starters, for mains the lamb, the chicken and gammon. All were excellent, save that the chicken dish was over salted. The triple cooked chips and dauphinois potatoes were incredible and the portions very generous. Or we thought so until we saw the puddings, the strawberry pavlova was immense - but very light. Great place, good staff, beer (Revd James) kept well.

Lovely location and nice hotel. Had 2 rooms both very clean and large enough. Service was good. Ate in Restaurant, food nice and reasonably priced.

We stayed here after our wedding and the room was fantastic and really comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and the staff really friendly. Would stay there again in a heartbeat

Check in was easy, room was a decent size and very light. The bathroom was okay, quite small but had a good shower. No shower gel was provided, which I thought was odd. Only one towel provided between two people, which was thin and needed renewing. We had the worst night sleep, the window may as well have been open, as we could hear literally every car drive past like we were outside with them! On this basis I wouldn’t stay again as I’m a heavy sleeper usually and I struggled with the noise. I’m also convinced there was someone being loud outside our room at about 6am, sounded like hoovering. On the positive - breakfast was lovely. Good portions and cooked perfectly. 10/10 for a full English. We also had dinner, a couple of the starters were very average, however the mushroom with goats cheese was lovely. Sunday dinner was nice, definitely filling enough to not need a starter. We had been put in a room off the main dining area on our own and felt a little forgotten about - Service was very slow.

Booked for a Sunday lunch, and well, what a gem this is. Beautiful building, feels more like fine dining but at good quality pub prices. The menu has good variety if you don't want a roast, with a good choice of appetisers and starters. We had a roast beef and a roast pork, the meat from both are sourced from local farms and evident in the quality. This was alongside some of the loveliest side veg I've ever had. The chef and team really know how to deliver quality food. A mention to Darren for his impeccable front of house service, attentive without being intrusive and nothing too much trouble. Would highly recommend and will be visiting again.

We have just had the best meal this evening to celebrate a birthday. The food is brilliantly cooked and served by polite, friendly, helpful waiters. If you want a good meal out the George at Frocester wont fail you.

Hospitality and service was brilliant. Room was massive, well equipped with tea/coffee/mini fridge/ hairdryer/ fan/ ironing board/TV and very clean! Food portions were brilliant and we really enjoyed our meal well worth the money. Would deffo recommend anyone to stay here ❤️

We stayed for one night plus breakfast in room 5. Very large room with a superb bathroom, large screen TV and very comfortable bed. Breakfast was really tasty (full English) and there was a large alternative choice. A superb stay.

We stayed here for 2 nights and ate breakfast lunch and dinner on different days. The food was excellent and service generally was good. If you wish to have a cooked breakfast allow plenty of time as, at the time we were there, there was only one server with a full? hotel. Room was comfy and bathroom very good.

Stayed here en route to Devon. Absolutely no complaints. The young lady who checked us in was smiley, polite and efficient. Excellent room, very large, very clean, with everything you could possibly need. Ate there in the evening, nice meal and good service. Been meaning to try The Frocester George for ages since we moved to the area. More hotelly than pubby, we chose to eat in the bar rather than the 'dining room' as we had our dog with is which is fine. Welcoming people, pubby menu at top prices for this style of menu for the area and pleasant surroundings. Starters very good, mains not quite up to the same standard. Service prompt and pleasant. We will come again no question for a change but there are better eats in the area.

We were stay-cationing in the Cotswolds and left Cheltenham looking for another place to stay. We stumbled across this little gem on our way back from a weekend away. We sat in the cosy pub section next to a warm fire. We ordered deep fried Brie to start and I one of the open sandwiches (bacon and more Brie). I can honestly say it’s one of the best lunches I’ve ever had! I am a total cheese lover and this was incredible! We don’t live near this place, but after a few months, we decided to make the journey back because of how good it was. Bar de siglos de antigüedad con chimenea, hermoso comedor elegante con mucha madera natural, recibido por un camarero muy bien vestido. Estábamos empezando a arrepentirnos de no mirar el menú antes de entrar, este restaurante parecía caro; pero no, precios promedio, porciones generosas y comida deliciosa. Pedimos bistec y pastel de cerveza con corteza de sebo de un menú interesante y variado. Llegó un pedazo de pastel increíblemente grande, lleno de montones de filetes tiernos en una rica salsa bien sazonada con una corteza crujiente de sebo. Lo mejor que hemos probado. Los dulces se veían bien, al igual que los entrantes, pero estábamos demasiado llenos para pedir más. DEBE volver de nuevo cuando estemos en la zona. No me puedo quejar, qué hallazgo.

Visited the frocester George twice recently first time had food in the bar which was very tasty and looked good second time was with friends for drinks. The bar man (skinny, young with glasses wearing a blue v neck jumper) was not friendly at all and acted like getting us our drinks was just an annoyance to him. His attitude has put us off visiting or even eating there at the time.

Nos quedamos una noche en este cómodo pub / hotel. Nuestra habitación era encantadora y cálida y la habían mantenido cuidadosamente. Muy a menudo, los pubs del campo están fríos y se ven cansados. No tan Frocester que se ha actualizado y es cómodo en todo momento. Tuvimos una comida encantadora en el restaurante y nuestro desayuno estaba delicioso con ingredientes locales. The occasion was friends Golden Wedding and so they hired the function room. There were 46 people there which fitted the room nicely. The hotel were very helpful and we were able to go and decorate the room earlier in the day. The food was a carver with jacket spuds and salad with a choice of two puds. Excellent food, great venue.

Lovely old Inn , excellent surroundings and not crammed in the dining room. the lunch we had was top class and I can recommend the liver and bacon, extremely tender. Service was perfect and we were well looked after. well worth a visit.

My wife & I wanted to visit a number of National Trust and Historic Houses in the Stroud/Gloucester area and this "pub with rooms" seemed to us to fit the bill as somewhere that we could stay. We booked a Junior Suite (R00m 5) and ate there very evening. The food was excellent and the portion sizes very generous: the wine prices were very sensible and we could not have been more pleased.The staff were very efficient and cheerful and we particularly liked the little touches such as the bread wassail baked on the premises and many of their sauces are also made on site. The bedroom was spacious and the bathroom very well appointed with a waterfall shower over the bath and a lovely large washbasin: a surprising, luxurious, touch was that we had clean towels every night.The only little gripe we had was that our room was directly over the kitchen and we were awoken every morning at 6.50 am by the extractor fan starting up for breakfast service! Not really too much of a problem but a point worth making to other potential visitors who might not be quite so relaxed as we were!!Al in all a very pleasant stay and our thanks to all the staff who made our stay so enjoyable

We wanted a base to explore the west of the Cotswolds and picked the George in Frocester. What a lucky break. The hotel is located in a small village and is a true local attraction. A substantial building in Cotswold stone, recently refurbished but holding to its original features. The manager, Rachel, with husband Mark Woking wonders in the kitchen, head up a great team. We dined in the main restaurant and enjoyed a delightful meal. Next evening we ate in the saloon bar and chose from a very wide menu. We will return!

When staying in the area we had such a good evening meal that we retruned two days later for another. Delicious food and pleasant professional service. High;y recommend.

Excellent food and catered for my many food intolerances. The pub is a gorgeous airy building with real ambience. They were very busy with a group of RAFA but, despite this, our meals were well cookled and arrived promptly. Serviced was friendly and courteous.

We decided to go to the George at Frocester for Sunday evening meal to celebrate our eldest's A level grades and his place at Cardiff University. Had looked online for menu but hadn't seen three roast dinners we all decided to plump for these two beef and two pork- gorgeous lovely gravy as a pour on and two lots of vegetables to share between four and two gravy boats. superb for the price and quality. I then decided to have the mini desserts plate which I then had to share with the rest of the table.- thoroughly recommend as small bites and tasters rather than feeling too full at the end of the evening - fabulous x

Cannot fault the Sunday lunch at The Frocester George. There were 5 in our party, but 2 were delayed due to traffic but upon advising the restaurant staff they were absolutely fine with the 10 to 15 minute lateness. We all opted for starters, 4 of us had battered brie with a pepper dip. The brie wedge oozed when it was cut into, and the pepper sauce complimented it very well with a small green salad as garnish. The other starter was a salmon and crayfish cocktail which was well presented. For mains between us we had locally sourced lamb or beef served on a bed of leeks with roast and new potatoes, and a large Yorkshire pudding with the beef. Dishes of vegetables were placed on the table comprising carrot, broccoli, swede and cabbage of which there was more than enough. Despite our full stomachs, we could not resist finishing the meal with a dessert. The strawberry pavlova was a very good size with an ample portion of cream, fresh strawberries and colic, the brulee creamy and the lemon posset full of flavour. Final assessment from our visit: fabulous food of more than ample quantity, presented well with attentive and professional staff. A return visit is not in doubt. Had to take a walk across Selsley Common to walk off the full feeling afterwards

10 of us from pure carnivore through veggie to full blown vegan . Firstly set in delightful countryside a step and a hop from junc 14 of the m5. A warm welcome from our waiter and promptly sat (we had booked highly recommended you do too). Water and menu presented soon after being seated . Drinks order taken service that one would find at a city establishment. Food requirements met for all the party with ease including a special of menu order for the vegan . The food from steaks to the vegan dish were excellent the starters again to a high standard and desserts impeccable. Would have got a 5 star but for a lack of condiments on the table and a slight odour as we entered . The waiting staff were amongst the best we have experienced in or out of town . The toilets were also to a high standard. Things such as the gin selection were also to a good standard. Highly polished eatery which we have graced twice now and would have no problem with a third visit . Tasteful dining area and a charming ambience would lead me to having no hesitation in recommending. Have been to the restaurant at this hotel a number of times - mostly lunchtime, This review reflects the most recent visit. Arrived earlier than booking but was greeted warmly and seated promptly with a drink waiting for the rest of the party to arrive.

Fab lunch food on a varied menu. The chicken Caesar salad was exceptional. Excellent service, great staff and amazing toilets!!

We had a family meal here to celebrate a birthday.The meal was cooked to perfection,and the staff very polite.The frocester George is the one if you are looking for a quiet vilage and wonderful meal.

Beautiful surroundings, like an old manor house/library effect. Service was very good and so was the price. Lots of beers to choose from, would recommend.
