Truly excellent food. Good service and a lovely old fashioned pub. I had the luxury fish pie, delicious and full of lots of fish and prawns ect. I love that all the veg was not overcooked. The trio of pork looked great, and apparently tasted great. Served with creamy cheesy mash with leeks. Whats not to love. The red wine i had was lovely too. If you are a foody then you definitely need to go here.

I can’t believe I’m writing this as the foxhound is one of my favourite places to eat there liver is amazing, but today when I visited with my family wasn’t the best experience. We all had roasts and it was probably one of the worst roasts I’ve had, really poor portions and I don’t eat a lot we weren’t allowed extra potatoes even though I was nearly charged for them at the end? The potatoes were so dry the meat was chewy (beef) and the veg we had to share wasn’t enough for one person let alone five. The staff were absolutely useless and slow didn’t offer menus until we asked for them I had to ask for sauce which took a while to come to me by which time I had nearly Eaten my tiny meal. Can’t tell you how disappointed I was such a poor meal and really poor staff . I won’t say I won’t come again but I will say it defiantly won’t be for a roast .

All I can say it was shocking, I had beef stue with so it said light and fulley cobbler, no rock hard and the stue wasn't that nice, as if it had very cooked in the microwave, didn't eat much and the sticky toffee pudding was a terrible, my friend had roast beef, beef was ok but she couldn't cut the roast potatoes with a knife, my mane meal was £17..99 I was going to complain, but it would have spoiled our day, I haven't seen my friends for over a year and she what'nt to go for it pub lunch and the last time we went was very nice, but never again, food was rubbish, one thing I would say wine was very nice

Visited again. Every time we are in Devon a meal at the Foxhound is a must. Sharon and Steve never let us down. We went two nights in a row. I had chicken chilli curry, hot. Yes it was but delicious. Second night I had Mexican burger. Again delicious. My husband had two fish dishes. Loved them. They also fitted us in with little notice. You must book, they are very popular. Can't rate them highly enough. Both Sharon and Steve are very hard working, but they always have time to talk to you. Chris and Mike Jones. A few pounds heavier!

Several friends have recommended recently The Foxhound at Brixton, Plymouth to us for Food. I attended with my husband, very elderly mother in law and our grown up son. We chose one Ploughman's with Ham, 2 Pork Belly with all the Trimmings and a luxury Fish Pie for myself. Ploughman's was delicious, gorgeous crumbed Ham, thick dry and delicious, no bulk standard skinny & slimey stuff! Home made coleslaw and accompaniments, lovely warm bread. Belly Pork I am told was delicious and plentiful. My luxury Fish Pie was the best I have ever had, and I have had several plus I make a good one myself! Really lovely buttery Mash on top and gorgeous creamy sauce covering a plentiful amount of fish, salmon & prawns. The vegetables served with 3 of the meals were so tasty & al dente, beautiful presented and not a pea in sight! Our son had the Coconut Ice Cream for dessert which was really delicious. We couldn't manage anything! Outstanding quality meals and a lovely menu to choose from. Suppliers checked with a lovely young male member of staff and it was confirmed the suppliers are all local, known to us and top notch, nothing mass produced here, which explained the quality and taste. Beautifully cooked. For the quality, taste and plentiful amounts, the prices were reasonable too. Very impressed overall and although we live fairly locally to this venue, it was our first visit, first of many now we all feel! Delightful staff, eager and informative in answering all our questions! Including our enquiries about the lovely array of Toby Jugs and Paintings, Prints etc Absolutely super quality food and fab menu. The Foxhound - you have it all ⭐️ We will be back very soon, also we will try the much talked about Sunday Roast! ! Thank You.

Our meals arrived stone cold so they were sent back hopefully to be warned up. They were sent back as they were and we were told by a very stressed chief ( self confessed) that the temperature was 75 degrees. The plates were stone cold as was everything on it!.we were then asked to leave and please never come back.

4 different meals ordered by our party and each one absolutely delicious. Best fish cakes ever, stuffed with crab, prawns, cod. Service excellent and not overly expensive. Cherry on the cake...dogs allowed.

Came and had the pensioner's lunch which is excellent value and warm comforting food. Good choice of food to suit almost all tastes, well presented with fresh vegetables. The pub was very busy so best to book a table.

Went here with 3 friends for a birthday lunch, and took advantage of the Pensioners' Lunch menu, which is incredibly reasonable and with a huge choice. One friend had chicken and pigeon pie with a gorgeous gravy; two had plaice and one had lasagne, all with veg of the day or salad. Since it was my birthday I treated myself to the most delicious bread and butter pudding, and rounded it all off with coffee. The atmosphere on a midweek lunchtime was friendly and not too loud. Thoroughly recommended.

My husband and I took his Mum out for lunch. We have been to The Foxhound several times and the food has always been very good. Today however they surpassed themselves. I had the trio of lamb and it was totally gorgeous. Plenty of lamb in a great jous (or as I call it... gravy) I even had a real carrot that tasted of real carrot! My husband had the slow roast belly pork and it was cooked to perfection. The locally sourced ingredients speak for themselves. Mum had the fish and chips. Batter was crisp, not greasy. She said it was "excellent" Nice calm, friendly atmosphere. Good for a couple as well. Lots of different seats to choose from.

This little pub never fails to please - the food is always excellent. From the usual pub grub to ever more inventive blackboard specials, we've never had a bad meal and last night was no exception. I highly recommend the poached hake with mussels and prawns - absolutely delicious!

It’s the 2nd time we have visited this village pub - the 1st time we had a lovely roast but this time not so good- The service wasn’t great , forgot one set of cutlery, forgot home made tartar sauce for the fish cakes , fairly long delay in taking order, fairly long delay in serving food and generally below par service - The fish cakes were really nice but the beef wellington was tough as old “boots” - we informed the waitress but she didn’t make anything of it - On the positive the drinks and reasonably priced and it was a nice busy atmosphere

After reading some recent reviews, I was a bit cautious about eating here, but, with the majority being favourable, we gave it a shot. The exterioor of the pub looks a bit dowdy, but being right next to the Kingsbridge Road, and the weather we have been having, road dirt will always do that. Inside, a real Olde World atmosphere in the bars and the dining room off is spacious and welcoming. We arrived early and both had the Roast Beef. Topside, beautifully cooked and a LOT of it! The Potatoes were properly Roasted, not steamed and painted (like some!), the Yorkshire was home made and the Veg (Broccoli, Cauliflower, Carrots, mashed swede and Cabbage) were all done to perfection. The Roast Parsnip was worth mentioning as well! Service was quick and polite without being intrusive. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Worth mentioning was the Local couple who were waiting for their friends to arrive. They have Sunday Lunch there regularly. In general, if the locals eat there, they aren't doing a lot wrong! Recommended (especially early before the rush)

We visited as a family group of nine adults and two young children. The food, prices and service were ok but nothing special. The place itself felt like it could do with a clean as it's pretty shabby. The toilets are often an indicator, and someone had clearly had an "accident" in the men's toilet that was reported but only partially dealt with. I couldn't bring myself to use the toilet and left as soon as I could.

Stayed here for one night lovely little pub rooms very nice and cosy unfortunately couldn’t watch tv as there wasn’t a remote and couldn’t use the shower as the button was missing of it which definitely would of been noticed on cleaning … the carpet in stairs were quite dirty and the people I didn’t find very welcoming sadly

Christmas lunch for 12 of us. Pre ordered from a balanced and varied seasonal menu that included fish and vegetarian options. Excellent value and we were very well looked after. Exceptional selection of well cooked Vegetables, recipe for the red cabbage please . Some of us were disappointed that we didn't have room for a desert ! This is a family owned proper pub with helpful competent staff. Parking right opposite but payment by card challenged some of us oldies.

Limited opening times, No food so asked out of curtesy if grandson could eat a snack. Was told no but to eat outside in the garden which had a closed sign on the gate, so had eat in the smoking area. Didn't feel particularly welcome. No alternative snack was offered. Wasn't very accommodating, we were staying local and would have returned for a meal but they said closed Monday and Tuesday and we would need to book if wanted to return. I would advise anyone to give this pub a a miss as there are much better pubs in the area
