This is a apsolotly stunning pub very old and nice! The staff are friendly and always wanting to help! I definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for somewhere to go!!

Nice old fashion little pub with friendly staff

Haven't been in this place for years . it's a lovely old fashioned pub . Staff are wonderful even though they are from the Midlands 😄 Can be quiet and loud at times but a must to have a drink

What a fantastic little pub. Finding this place made our weekend trip away. Phil and Bev run an amazing pub. There are not many true, traditional pubs around but this one is fantastic. We were made very welcome from first stepping in. Fabulous atmosphere. Clean. Fantastic pub food at very good prices. Watched Wales v Scotland Rugby match there with very friendly people and felt so much at home. Wish they would come run a pub like this near us. Cannot recommend this pub highly enough. Will definitely visit again if we are in the area in the future. Thank you for a fantastic time.

WOW....this pub is fab all year round! To be greated by Santa and his Elves was great. Family friendly dog and ginger friendly 🥰🥰🥳🤣

Attended the evenings full of meat raffles and quiz nights, all staff are welcoming and the food is spot on. Always friendly services and the pub is always clean to a high standard. Since Bev & Phil have taken over its a true family pub. Its been welcoming and I can say its actually a drug free zone, the toilets are perfect and clean to.

This pub is a great place to go, I'm out on my own most times and have always felt welcome, the place is a great place to go, my mother who is in her 80's now feels comfortable coming in on her own to meet us, which she would never have done,jealous people making bad reviews, the meat raffle is unbelievable, the quiz night if your bright is good, I'm not so stay home lol 😀

We went to see a group of sea shanty singers it was a lovely evening and we were made to feel very welcome by everyone. Nice little boozer xx

Went there for the shanty night, had a wonderful time. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was tasty and very reasonably priced, and the atmosphere was second to none. You can really feel the historic nature of this ancient tavern, and everyone there is most welcoming.

Tucked away on the edge of a housing estate you'll find this character pub steeped in history being the oldest Pub in Gosport. It has a great atmosphere and is family run by Bev & Phil. Clean facilities with an outside place to sit.

We had the most amazing pizza , it was huge, very good value for money, highly recommended this pub.

We visited Gosport for the first time and thought what a lovely little town, we found a few lovely pubs some little hidden gems, or so we thought 😞 we went to the oldest pub in Gosport "The Fox" only to find it was so clicky that we as guests of Gosport didn't feel welcomed, we could clearly see that customer's were clearly going out of the garden to smoke cannabis to then return to the establishment, the owners and staff didn't seem to care much about this even though they smelled off weed, yet they claim to be a zero tolerance establishment 🤦🏼‍♀️ there was more people going to the toilet or walking off the premises to do drugs then returning with no comeback from management or staff, I guess it's a place where your face fits and they like you, you get away with everything as we seen more than we would like too. Would not recommend unless you want to expose your family to this.

A long time since I have been to the Fox. We made it our pub of choice back in 1980 when I was in Gosport with a class of trainee submariners. 6 Australians & 6 Canadians. The landlord at the time put on a farewell party for us. Great memories of the fox. Glad to hear it is still going. I will be over from Aus in May. Hope to visit for a pint

Came here today for lunch with my parents, mostly based on the name because I love foxes, and what a lovely pub it is! The landlord and landlady were so friendly and welcoming, the food was absolutely delicious with generous portions and excellent value for money! It has a really authentic pub feel, with a pool table, darts board and secluded outside dining/drinking area. Couldn't really ask for more and will definitely be back!

I had never been in this pub before so thought I'd try it. Only real ale was Jail Ale (why do pubs in Hampshire insist on having Cornish beer!) Beer was OK but not brilliant. Asked for a half pint for my wife in a straight glass rather than the dimple mug but they didn't have any straight glasses (unusual). This pub is a few hundred yards from the excellent Fallen Acorn brewery - pity they don't do their beers. Not a place I would return to. Didn't have any food but apparently their food is OK, but don't bother if you are a real ale fan.

Visited with our pool team. Such a fun,enjoyable night.

I always liked the place but the backwards views of the staff currently makes me question the authenticity of the plane. The oldest pub in gosport with the most archaic views.

Do you know what I've never felt so welcome this pub is not your usual it's better than that and what makes it is the landlady and landlord they are the best and the rest of the staff and the people who drink there. Big thumbs up 👍 xxx

Best pub in Gosport by far! In the past lots of negative comments heard, but not anymore! Bev Phil and the crew have more than turned this pub around. Whether you’re with your friends, colleagues, family, children, you are more than welcome and ALWAYS feel comfortable! Great atmosphere and great food! Honestly couldn’t for a better pub or staff. If you’ve had a bad experience in the past, I can guarantee if you had another go you wouldn’t be disappointed!! Well done for all you have done guys!!! X

This place is said to be the oldest pub in Gosport , it looks very old and is well worth a visit for the historic perspective , the food is good and is home cooked , try the curry or the gammon egg and chips , very tasty , the beers are also very good and the staff are very friendly , we will be back and soon to this reasonably prices pub ..

Thought we'd have a bit of a pub crawl around Gosport to some of the old haunts from my Navy days in the 70's. What a terrific pub, immaculately clean, staff really friendly - if it was in Doncaster it would certainly be my local.

Taking a walk around Gosport and came across this little gem it is sooo clean and very very welcoming landlady made you feel like you feel like you’ve known her for years It’s definitely worth a visit and we will certainly be coming back to the fox xxx

Had a lovely time outside, the inside is lovely too, staff are super friendly and made a fuss of our pooch BUT dogs are not allowed inside because they serve food but they were nice about it

Absolutely fantastic atmosphere, local lad with a midlands woman. Hospitality is unreal, my first night I felt like a local - never left out of anything. I cant express how lovely this pub is and it's tucked away from the new roads because of its old original location. There's more to offer like food but I've experienced my first night, one step at a time! I would definitely recommend and hopefully see you soon...

Always loved the atmosphere in The Fox. Lively and friendly with juke box, pool table and a decent courtyard with outside seating. New owners have levelled up here and put up a reasonably priced menu with great food! And it's very clean in here with a friendly welcome. At 285 years old, it's Gosport's oldest pub and with all the improvements definitely something Gosport should be proud of. Great job by all involved

Alway been a valued pub the cellers dates to the 1500s new landlords have recently taken over and are making it shine once again really good bar food / meals from the kitchen plus smiley faces behind the bar it feels very welcoming really a good place to be once again top marks 👍

Bev and Phil have definitely made a difference to the Fox. I grew up on the estate that the pub is on and I never went in when I was younger. It’s nice to see the pub thriving, and is a really nice place to drink. Bev does all home cooked food, and the food is amazing at great prices. Would highly recommend 😀😀

Had an amazing night. Staff are so friendly and go out of their way to make sure you have a really good night. Prices really reasonable. Currently asking customers to wear face masks to keep everyone safe despite the relaxation of govt guidance. We will definitely be back.

Lived here 8 years and had never visited...what a mistake! A warm and friendly welcome and a lively atmosphere. Comfortable beer garden. Ordered something that wasn't on the menu but the landlady, Bev, most certainly came to the fore. Will definitely be going back for more banter and food.

Can’t believe it’s still there, the mighty fox tavern , many a great night spent in there in 1992 when I was serving on RFA Olna and she was refuelling on the Clarence jetty .Stopped for a drink on our recent trip to gosport and it’s cleaned itself up since the 90s but underneath it’s still the good old fox , will definitely visit again if I’m in the area , thanks for the memories

Called in to jog memories of the many visits while stationed at St George Barracks in the mid 60s and early 70s. Changed Breweries and the atmosphere wasn’t as I remembered it, but then it wasn’t during the evening that I visited. Good to see that it has survived time and many changes in the area.

We were Morris Dancing here in July with a few other Morris groups.. A fab pub. Lots of character. Good ales. Very friendly staff and locals. We drank all the ale last year, this time we couldnt manage to drink them dry but will try harder next year...

Old drinking place while i was in the RN nearly visited some time every day when in harbour,glad to see it has not lost any of its character since i was last there in the seventies.It was a drinking mans pub then and what i could see it still is,even though it is now surrounded by a housing estate. Staff were very friendly and we had a good chat Would recomend anyone visiting Gosport to pay a visit in there.Beats Wetherspoons
