We love the Fox Revived and went this time for my birthday. The food was it's usual high standards, it arrived quickly and we thoroughly enjoyed it. What made this occasion even more special was the service we had from one of the waiters, Ed. He is friendly, polite, attentive without being pushy and remembered details. He went over and above to provide little extras for my granddaughter and indeed myself as he presented my cake. Excellent service from all involved at the Fox Revived.

Came for Sunday lunch with family, as have been here before. Unfortunately not so good an experience, we were seated in bar area which was busy & noisy, we had to order at the bar and service was very slow. Food was good, but not up to standard we have had previously. Good Gluten Free options, all marked on the menu.

Excellent service from Ed … great food especially as I’m coeliac, the options were first class … my choice was the fish and chips which was easily the best around Ed made sure my food was gluten free👌 Very busy but overall a lovely venue We’ll be back

My friend and I decided to visit for lunch. The service, food, alcohol and overall setting was really good. So you will ask, why one star.....the owner/staff member has a dog....this animal was allowed to jump up to the staff to be patted, the staff would lift and cuddle the dog. All in full view of the customers......then the staff would leave the dog, collect the food from the kitchen and deliver to the tables. Disappointingly no visible sign of any hand washing. This inaction and risk to hygiene is why I give 1 star.

We stopped in this lovely pub on the off chance. We were in the area. What a find. Very friendly staff. Lovely quaint pub. Sunday roast was amazing, homemade & delicious. 2 of our children had the chicken burger & said it was also delicious. Will definitely come back here even if it is a 2 hour drive for us. Highly recommend.

Highly recommend. My daughter is gluten free and the menu is so inclusive. The Sunday roast was the nicest roast I have ever had outside my own home. The cauliflower cheese, pigs in blankets, Yorkshire pudding are all gf adaptable. The desserts are also gf adaptable too. We have been a few times and also enjoyed the food and service.

Decent menu choices but massively misses the mark on value, particularly for the kids meals. We were a large party with several kids. The service on the whole was pretty good but the price v quality and meal sizes is way off. I had the crispy squid which tasted fine but was tiny, followed by the fish cake. This again was small, overcooked and really tasted like it had been bought in as frozen. My side of buttered mix veg was compromised of carrot and cabbage, potentially the cheapest of any veg. But the most frustrating were the kids meals. Not cheap at £8.50 for a cheeseburger (but we didn't have cheese), my daughter described it as "a big meatball in a bun." The kids waffle, which tasted good, was half a waffle for approx £4.50, plus a lemonade for £2.25 the whole kids meal was over £15. All in all work needs to be done on the pricing and quality in my opinion, which is a shame as the venue, location and staff were great.

A group of 23 of us (including 3 children) were expertly hosted under the canopy in the garden - plenty of space for the children to run around and have fun. 2 couples booked for lunch at 12.15 and arrived 20 minutes early. We were some of the first people arriving but had to wait 45 minutes for the main and only course to arrive! We guess this was linked to the defrosting time for one of the dishes but no reason was given. This is when staff should be allowed to use some initiative & offer some free nibbles or something. By the time the Food arrived there were a considerable number of diners inside and out. Very large restaurant. Two of us were satisfied with their meal which was ok but 2 were very disappointed in the so- called goats cheese tart with glazed peaches. The peaches were good but there seemed to be only a few crumbs of goats cheese on top!! No knapkins provided until asked for and no place mats or beer mats and table became wet as soon as drinks were served which were eventually cleaned up after asking. Condiments brought swiftly on request but despite plenty of staff the service was just not up to scratch for somewhere trying to be upmarket. Blame it on COVID I suppose.Extensive menu which maybe too large in these admittedly difficult times. We will not rush back.

Booked an outside table for 6 the day before our visit. Was a family visit and thought lunch would be nice as we don’t see each other all together very often. After looking at the menus online we’d all kind of picked what we wanted to eat. So we arrived for our booking at 1.45pm only to be told they’re not serving food, just a starter menu or nibbles menu!! We were informed on arrival at 1.30pm that they had staffing issues and this was what was on offer. Not good enough, the website could have been updated telling prospective customers of the change. I know hospitality has a staff shortage due to months of closures but the 7p’s spring to mind....Proper Planning Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance..So instead we’ve come to another Pub not far away, seated in the garden only for the table’s conversation next to us at involving punching a child, so a great afternoon thanks to The Fox Revived!!Maybe you should rename yourselves as the The Fox Deprived!!

Came here with friends and their new baby. Staff were really nice and welcoming. Really nice outdoor seating area, fortunately it didn't rain. Swings and a tractor for the kids to play on if you have kids. Baby high chair provided, but it wasn't very suitable for a 4 month old. He struggled to sit up in it unfortunately. The food was absolutely amazing. I had the chicken pie which was amazing. Not sure what the sauce was, but it was delicious. My friend got the chicken burger which he said was great and 2 of us got the roast dinners which were huge and apparently also really nice. Quite a good selection of draught beer too which we were allowed to have a little taste of before we decided what to get. Highly recommend. Will be back soon, mainly for the incredible food.

Ample parking spaces Was so nice to have staff that are Polite and attentive but not intrusive. Food was well presented and swift to arrive after ordering. I thoroughly enjoyed my 1st time and will DEFINITELY be back. If there was ONE thing that would be a great addition to the great outdoor seating area it would be the introduction of some ‘patio heaters’ ! OVERALL: Highly recommended - Will visit again soon :)

Met 2 friends for a walk followed by lunch at the Fox Revived. We used the walk advertised on their website (what a great idea) which was easy to follow (a few stiles to negotiate). There is ample parking and plenty of socially distanced outdoor seating. The staff were friendly but clear on the covid secure rules and reiterated them to every arriving party. But best of all the food was absolutely delicious, I can’t rate it highly enough! Superb experience from start to finish...I’m already planning my next trip there

There was a lovely warm greeting when we arrived, and the Covid-19 protocols were fully explained. We were given a choice of signing in using the NHS app, or the Brunning and Price one. Tables were nicely spaced, and the service was prompt and friendly. I can recommend the Shiraz! We ordered king prawn linguine and the steak sandwich. Both were freshly cooked, generously portioned, and absolutely delicious. Couldn't resist the chocolate brownie either, although I only got half of it, as my wife ordered a second spoon to attack it from her side of the table! We'll be back soon.

Four of us had lunch at The Fox Revived on Saturday. The pub has been refurbished tastefully and the staff here are very friendly and helpful. We all enjoyed our food (I had the roast partridge breast stuffed with wild boar for £17.95) and there was a good selection of wines at reasonable prices. I like the idea of a smaller desert with coffee included for £6.95 and we all indulged. The only problem, and it was a bit of a big one, was that the central heating had broken and the large conservatory style are was only heated by a couple of fan heaters. I kept my waistcoat and jacket on for the whole two hour visit while my girlfriend only took her thick winter coat off after an hour and a half and wearing a winter coat at a dining table is not the most comfortable way of eating a meal with its big sleeves trying to avoid the gravy!!!

Greeting very friendly.. shown to our table - drinks ordered all great.Food orders starters x 3 and mains ordered - about 30mins later one main appeared!!No starters - strange.Order was taken the traditional way pen and paper - not sure how our starter order didn't get to the kitchen. Starters x 3 appeared and were fine. Mains arrived and the same one delivered earlier re-appeared.. along with out others.Other than that - was all ok - less tables for reasons mentioned in title of this review. As wednesday a reasonable number of customers. Missed collecting my Real Ale from the bar - but was great. (from local Surrey Hills)need to go out more to keep supporting local business our local business' as with every thing wont be there unless we do. tough to do this as the experience is not the same - think we all need to "see" past this or try the more often we go the easier?Would i go the the Fox Revived again this side of 2020 Christmas - yes of course- - no brainer.

We queued at the pub door behind a young couple, who were questioned about their lack of masks. They were asked for official medical evidence of their 'asthma', yes both of them! They had no proof, the pub offers free masks, but they were still let in unmasked! What was tge point of her asking them then? I questioned the staff, & later when at our table, another young girl walked by unmasked. A member of staff stopped her, asked her about her lack of mask, to which her answer was 'I have an inhaler in my bag' & then she walked off. Since when is having an inhaler (if she did) medical proof of being exempt from a mask?. Later, back at our hotel, the same 1st unmasked couple I mentioned happened to be at our hotel & he was outside smoking heavily!. Yet, he has asthma & unable to wear a mask for short walks inside pubs/hotels. I liked tge pub, but this lack of being in control at your own establishment puts me off returning.

Ten out of ten for everything: meeting all the COVID regulations, the staff, the service, the ambience, the menu, and the quality of the food. From being taken politely to our table, walking through the restaurant and being acknowledged by other members of their staff, to menus being given to us straightaway, drinks ordered taken and delivered swiftly, food orders taken and advised that one choice, the Malaysian Curry, would take approximately 20-25 minutes to prepare, to being served six delicious meals. What a vast difference to our experience at The Charlwood a few weeks ago when, after posting our disappointing experience on Trip Adviser, the owner replied very distastefully referring to our group as "six old ladies" and "to take a wide berth and don't come back".Congratulations to the Fox Revived who once again have met all our expectations.

Very pleased with their covid procedures. Service couldn't be faulted. Food was good & served hot on hot plates - why is that so difficult for other places to manage. Only small critique is that its rather dark walking around the back and side of the building when leaving. Higher output bulbs would help. Can't reduce the overall marking because of that though.

Superb! We hadn’t visited here for a while but as a family of 4 made the trip for Sunday lunch today. Great cosy table overlooking the garden and lovely ambience all around. Food top notch - prawn cocktail had properly decent sized prawns and Sunday roasts were delicious - huge yorkshire puds, and good quality tender meat, not overdone. Our 4 year old had the roast beef from the kids menu and it was HUGE! She still found room for a chocolate brownie and ice cream (which also looked tasty). Mine was washed down with Shere Drop, which i will now look out for in future, and a decent glass of claret. I have seen comments from others re service but we did not experience that at all today - very attentive and friendly staff and we never had to try and catch their attention. All in all a perfect way to spend part of a Sunday afternoon.

Booked a table for 3 to revisit the pub again after lockdown.Lots of info on social distancing etc and told they needed the table back after 2 hours before we even got into the pub !We were seated and a drink order taken with a request for a jug of water also, the drinks arrived after quite a wait minus the water which we had to ask for again and also had to request another menu as there was only one on the table. Finally the food order was taken which we were told would take 25 minutes (no reason given for this timescale ) after 45 minutes we were still waiting and no one came near the table to explain why or even to see if we wanted more drinks .The food , when it did arrive was lovely and couldn’t be faulted but again a long wait to have the plates cleared and not asked if we wanted desert. After another long wait and someone appeared to see if we wanted coffee but we pointed out we hadn’t seen a desert menu yet to be told it was on the table already altho not evident as it was under an explanatory sheet re the pubs Covid measures !We declined sweet and had one coffee and was shocked when paying the bill that the waitress told us that the pub does not pass on the tips to the staff unless the tip is paid separately ?This is a lovely pub in a beautiful setting but the service definitely needs to improve , there were enough waiting staff but they don’t seem focused on service. We have found this pre Covid on other visits so it is not a current issue and I see from previous comments that others feel the same.

The food was lovely and I have been many times before but I’m not going to rerun during the eat out to help out scheme or soon. They clearly had far too many bookings to cope which in turn made service incredibly slow. I work in hospitality so I know what busy is, but our waiter was plodding around whilst we waited 20 minutes for our first drinks, and 45 minutes for our mains to be cleared and in that time not asked for more drinks. It was boiling and we weren’t allowed to the bar. I ordered a glass of water and that took a further 10 minutes to come. They had also sat us at low arm chairs with a normal height table which made eating very uncomfortable. These tables should not be used for people eating food. It was very impractical. Again a sign they were stretching themselves too far with not enough suitable tables or staff. The table next to us had delays as well and I had overheard comments and they ladies who were also sat on the low arm chairs requested to move. I had requested a normal chair but our waiter said there were non spare. However later in the night I could see 5 unused chairs that could have been safely (following covid) moved to me. The other guests hadn’t even arrived when I asked for the chair. The food was lovely. I will return as I haven’t had bad service before but probably not until next year.

Booked a table tonight for a family of 4 at 5.30. Seem to table and almost immediately someone took our drinks order, great! But then nothing....after 40mins we collared someone serving food and asked that someone please take our order. Another 5 mins later and our waitress came over. She apologised for the wait but couldn’t have been less sincere. She had served two other tables that came in after us, before us. As we ordered she then told us, by the way, there is a 30min wait for food! With young kids, this is not easy to manage! 35mins later the adult starters came out but nothing for kids. After another 5 mins + of waiting, we asked another server where our sons starters were. At this point I complained we had waited for 40mins for our order to be taken and a further 40mins just to get a starter and it wasn’t on. I was offered no apology, just excuses that the waiting staff don’t start until 6pm?! Even though I was able to book a table for 5.30. For food and drink?! Why allow bookings before your staff start?! She did offer to take the wine off our bill, which I appreciate, but I would rather our food in reasonable time? Eventually got kids starters. 40mins after that, our mains arrived. By this point my kids had simply had enough of the waiting around and so had we. Our sides didn’t arrive and I had to ask for them and then wait again. I ordered some more drinks, as nobody came over to ask if we needed more drinks, despite us sitting with empty glasses! Another long wait for drinks while I had my main and I had almost finished by the time they came! Waitress took plates but never asked if food was ok and so we just asked for the bill. When she took payment she never asked if we enjoyed our evening/meal. I have visited this pub many times over the last two years and cannot speak highly enough of it. I recommended it to family tonight and feel totally let down. Total lack of customer care and really poor service. Nobody should be made to wait such lengthy periods for food and drinks? The restaurant tables must have been at 50% less capacity but staffing levels and quality very low? I know these pubs and restaurants are facing tough times but it shouldn’t mean you drop your service standards to your customers? I’m still a paying customer and felt so disappointed tonight. Like nobody gave a damn about the quality of service we were receiving. Would like to hear the pubs management response to our experience? I’ve been a huge fan of the pub for years and it’s my favourite place to eat but this has really put me off returning.

We was sat on a table which backed onto a large open window, from working in the industry I understand that the venue needs to be ventilated due to current circumstances however when asked to close the window and open another near by it was declined, so we sat shivering. The staff were unapproachable and was not interested. Although I do think they was more interested in welcoming mould on a lime which was on a squid starter and an ant in a drink more then customers. None of them smiled. I will never recommend this place to anyone. As you will see on my profile, I hardly write trip advisors however I feel that the service here was disgusting a bit like the staffs attitude.

We met friends for the first time since Covid-19 struck, and enjoyed a lovely, safe lunch at The Fox Revived. We all appreciated the safety briefing and explanations, and being offered a choice of tables inside and out helped even more to relax everyone. Service throughout was friendly and attentive, and the food was excellent. Was it my imagination, or have portion sizes increased? Our friends had travelled from Cranleigh, and said that they'd be happy to make the journey again for our next lunch date.

Thank you to Dave and the team at The Fox Revived for an amazing Sunday dinner. The obvious hard work that has gone in to making the pub safe is appreciated and made for a relaxing and stress free afternoon! The food and wine was, as always, stunning!

Rang up and booked a table after being told we couldn’t book to sit outside, drove half an hour to be told we couldn’t come in. We then said we asked for a table inside and was said they was fully booked after we booked incase there was no table outside, we then sat inside and saw serval people be taken to outside tables (there was at least 6 tables free) so after having a debate as to why we couldn’t sit outside, they said the other people booked outside an hour ago? When they said we wasn’t allowed to do that over the phone, someone finally let us sit outside in the garden, whilst being there for our duration, the same guy who told us we could it’s first come first serve brought different people out to sit. This is actually discrimination to us we was a family of 4 going for food, we don’t know why they didn’t like the look of us. Very rude staff. Sat us on a table right next to a wasp nest

I don’t usually leave reviews, but on this occasion I feel I must !We visited yesterday evening (Sunday) after the pub reopened on Saturday, and what a joy it was, many new procedures in place with sanitisation stations every where, the staff were their usual friendly selves even with their PPE face shields, the service was excellent and the new procedures in place work really well. The food was amazing as always ! I felt very safe in the knowledge that all the procedures explained to us, were their to keep everyone safe and healthy.I would highly recommend anyone feeling a little bit unconfident of venturing into a pub for the first time, to give this pub a try, it will make you feel a lot more comfortable and much less wary........this is the new normal for a while, embrace it, get used to it and support our wonderful local pubs, they deserve our support with the changes they have had to make.Well done to all of you, especially your fantastic staff who made us all feel at ease.

I had lunch here today with my family. The staff have done an excellent job with safety precautions re coronavirus and the food was delicious as always. The only thing was was a bit sad was the children weren’t allowed to play in the garden which isn’t their fault at all. Highly recommended.

There is a very friendly atmosphere when you walk in. The staff are all very helpful, we were looked after especially well by Sophie, she had a very bubbly personality and l was very chatty and funny. The food was exceptional it is only very slightly more expesive than some pub restaurants but you definitely get what you pay for.

We visited the Fox Revived for an evening meal on the 12th March and we have a lovely evening. The food was amazing, and the staff were I could not fault. The food, high quality food, great portion sizes and great value for money. I highly recommend the Chicken, ham hock and leek pie, (my choice) and the Burger (Hubby’s choice) you will not be disappointed with either of these dishes. As for the team, they were helpful, friendly, funny, professional, especially Sophie. She really made us feel welcome and joked with us. Fox Revived management, Sophie is a real credit to your team, and she made our visit an enjoyable one. We will be returning again very soon. Well done to all the team, the bar staff, the chefs and waiting staff, you clearly work well as a team, thank you.

Visited the fox revived today for a birthday lunch. The staff and food were fantastic as usual. One of our party has anxiety/panic attacks and we were given a table near an exit which was ideal for this member of our party. Then we asked for just a plain chicken sandwich for him and it was no problem for the chef. Highly recommend the Fox Revived. Thank you to all staff and chef.

Perfect venue, good menu but our lunch, where we were treating two guests, was ruined by such slow service. Had to ask where our starters had got to then had to ask when we could expect our main course!! The restaurant was not full by any means on a Tuesday lunchtime so no excuse. Don't think we'll go back in a hurry.

I went to this restaurant with some friends on a Sunday for a catch up! Nobody decided to have a starter and we went straight for the roast dinners! I had roast pork, which I wouldn’t usually choose but wow it was delicious! I then had the stick toffee pudding and it really was a taste sensation!

Since my son was diagnosed as gluten intolerant we have struggled to find restaurants to eat in, and those that we do have only had one or two options. We came across this accidentally and found that they did a full gluten free menu which can be viewed on their website. The choice was amazing! We went on Christmas Eve and as I had mentioned when booking that my son was gluten free he was provided with the appropriate menu which detailed an extensive choice for every course. He was delighted as we were all able to eat the same meal and he didn't feel that he was the odd one out. As a party we had the lamb with new potatoes and the pie, followed by sticky toffee puddings and chocolate brownie. The food was delicious. Our waitress was very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the gluten free side of things. We will definitely be going back.

We went to catch up with family on a Sunday evening. The early stages were good and 4 out of 6 starters were good, the calamari was not so give a swerve. Difficult to get attention to get a further drink though is that because it was a Sunday night and they were short staffed as that theme continued. The Cod dishes for the main were good, 2 of the roasts were ok but the vegetables were either covered in butter or the spouts were cooked in a strange way that meant they were hard and tasted of oil. I feel sorry for anyone who has booked a meal there on Christmas Day as the Turkey meal was poor and you expect a lot more at £85.

Husbands birthday it's not worth giving him a choice it's always the fox, he likes traditional beers and they have good choice. Sat in the bar to eat, as we took the dog, they were very busy, this was a mid week lunchtime. Always a big smile in greeting, orders in, did not have to wait long, lovely dinner and the my absolute favourite sticky toffee podding with 2 scoops vanilla ice cream. The lads and lassies who serve are brilliant nothing ever too much trouble. We will be back.

Not been here for a while. Glad we chose it! Try the feather of beef or lamb here- utterly amazing. Could not fault the service and very pleasent surroundings. Enjoyed the gin and tonic too. Loved the ginger and blackberry sponge (but only blackberry due to two berries on top of ginger sponge). Pricey but worth it. Fairly good gluten free menu, limited puddings though.

A chance find on route to the Stanhill Hotel we pulled into the car park and wandered into a lovely, bustling atmosphere! All manner of folk of all ages enjoying drinks and meals. Ordered a main course only but delicious and well prepared it really hit the spot! A good choice of food covering all the classic staples with a slight difference it was a difficult choice what to order. Staff were helpful, welcoming and attentive. All in all a lovely experience! If we lived locally I could see this being a weekly habit. Would easily recommend if passing through or heading to the airport - a much better stomach pleaser than what you have on offer there!

Went here for a Saturday night and it was great. Played pool on their table, drank some nice beer and lagers and listened to the DJ belting out some bangers which a lot of people were up dancing too so they were doing a good job. Then a nice tipsy walk to McDonald's for the anti hangover munch. 10/10
