This place is not what Google says it is. We approached after searching for a decent pub in the area and as we got to the door - we noticed the Fox door knocker and saw it said members only. As we accepted defeat and tried for a little picture of the door, two dudes came out of a car and told us that not only were we not welcome there but that we couldn’t even take a picture with the .. door? Very odd and suspicious. However, I feel a little relieved since we probably just avoided a London stabbing. It’s one star only because 0 isn’t an option.

We were supposed to have afternoon tea. No one replied to emails and phone calls only automated response. When we showed up while 2 members of staff were outside smoking and the person who answered the door said they were shut and there was clearly work going on. Worse still this was booked through red letter days

A jewel in Mayfair. We stayed here before Christmas and the location is perfect for visiting Winter Wonderland, and indeed any other area of London with its close proximity to Green Park Station. Staff are friendly and attentive in the bar area; the hotel requires you to ring the doorbell to get in and staff were always prompt in answering this. We were very pleased with the suite room offered and would recommend this smaller, boutique hotel for those who want a more personal experience.

Cozy, informal and friendly bar, very good service. Boutique style hotel, atmosphere of a private club, which it IS in addition to renting out rooms. You will need to climb stairs so keep that in mind. Bar manager also acts as on duty manager of hotel. Dont expect large, modern room. Location near Green Park underground; convenient. Tub very high from ground and a bit hard to climb in and out of, but nice bathroom with WINDOW which I loved. If you are reasonably fit, this is a nice place to stay. Bar on ground floor attracts locals which is nice. Friendly and helpful staff, day and night. Provided teabags for our room whenever we asked for them, for example. Construction meant a bit of noise in daytime but that may well be finished by now.

The Fox Club is a regular lunch haunt for me, and it never fails to deliver. The food made by the chef here is much better than meals I have eaten in many other private members clubs. The chef at the Fox is exceptional at cooking fish dishes to perfection. Although, on this occasion I elected to have the beef ragu with risotto to banish all thoughts of the icy sleet, and cold outside. With a ragu that was tender and just melted in the mouth, a risotto cooked just right, I was blissfully happy with my choice. Accompanied by a chilled glass of Picpoul de Pinet, this was just what I needed at the end of a long week. The staff are always friendly and attentive, it really is like the Cheers bar but in a historic and pretty Mayfair townhouse, with a chef who is passionate about delivering lovely plates of food.

Cozy, small club with bar on ground floor where locals stop by after work so guests can mix with them, at least that happened to me and my friend. Bartender doubles as manager at times; it's a small establishment. Very helpful staff. We had a small suite on the 6th floor so if you have knee or leg pain, this isnt the place for you as there is no elevator. I loved that the bathroom had a window. I didnt love the occasional construction noise but it stopped at night. The location was perfect: near Green Park and the tube station, near the Ritz if you want to go have tea somewhere quiet, near Piccadilly Circus. Good value considering the posh location, and it does have a breakfast/lunch room. Again, if you need an elevator, avoid this club unless you get a room on first or second floor. Oh, there is a fun history behind the club: politicians and such bringing their in-town mistresses here.

Booked the Fox Club very last minute, only 2 hrs before our train left Dorset.Great location, just 3 min walk from tube in the heart of Mayfair.A quaint townhouse offering just 9 rooms privately owned, with a notorious past!A very warm welcome on arrival. We stayed in the Fitzpatrick room, front of building, 2 Windows with pretty window boxes, a generous size, lovely comfy bed, tea/coffee making facilities, original fireplace.Lots of unspoilt character, yet all mod cons.Very nice bathroom with great shower over bath, piping hot & full on water pressure.Fluffy robes to wrap up in & relax.Breakfast is a little Pricey at about £20 for the Fox Club cooked, but very good, served in a nice glass roofed room.Private members hold breakfast meetings in the bar, and enjoy drinks after work, creating a friendly atmosphere. All in all, a great place to stay, in a very good location for all the sights, museums, parks & high end shopping. There is currently building work directly opposite of desirable apartments, this didn't really bother us, but probably would if it had been summer. We would definitely stay again and would recommend.

What a weird place. So we got a good deal here with the groupon voucher and had an afternoon tea here and to be honest, though the portion size of the food was generous and the scones very good, some of the cakes were clearly from the Tesco's up the road. Still we did enjoy it, aside from the dissatisfactory atmosphere. When we first walked in (after being let in as it's a private members club) the bar lady gave us a rather strange look- the place is full of Mayfair suits and there were no other women to be seen!- but when we told her what we were here for she relaxed and was pleasant to us. The wine was very nice and we were welcome to drink at the bar while we waited for our table. The seating area isn't that pretty tbh, it's not the ideal location for afternoon tea, but also we were next to a rowdy bunch of suits drinking and showing off ect, which was a little distracting. But of course we did not blame the staff for this, it couldn't be helped. The waitress asked whether we wanted tea or coffee and that was that. Service could have been better- the waitress wasn't very attentive although she was polite enough and did not offer to refill our pot. The groupon voucher said 'unlimited supply of tea and coffee'...lies, all lies...we asked for coffee and she told us she would have to charge us for that!!...that really put us off. We should have argued it out there and then....So anyway we asked for a refill of hot water and it seemed like it was a big effort for that. The food was nice, but cakes were clearly shop bought which was a little disappointing, though scones were pretty nice. I won't be going back....and I wouldn't have paid full price for the food/atmosphere.

Expectations of an afternoon tea in Mayfair will always be high, but The Fox Club managed to disappoint. Arrival is via a locked door, in which you have to ring a doorbell for entry. Left to wait a while, we were eventually escorted into a drab dining room. Offered a glass of house white or red wine, we were seated. Within minutes a complete tray of afternoon tea was produced, with no explanation of what we had. Usual array of bland sandwiches (egg, salmon, cheese and pickle) that tasted like they had been made in the morning and left out. Even the cheesecake had melted and was dripping of the plate (see photo!) When we informed the waitress, she did apologise yet we were only offered a plate to put it on. The scones and the red velvet were quite tasty but nothing special. As for tea, there wasn't even a tea menu. The selection consisted only of english breakfast, earl grey and a few fruity ones. We weren't offered any refills. The dining room lacked any ambience and the crockery we had was all chipped. Felt like two star quality. I wouldn't return

Had been looking forward to this Red Letter Day treat for some time and have to say how absolutely disappointing the whole experience was. We were the only couple partaking of afternoon tea and were sandwiched, excuse the pun, between 2 hen parties. As a consequence we were seated at the end of the bar amongst the hotel luggage on 2 circular tables of differing heights pushed together and covered with a stained tablecloth. The waitress who appeared to be distracted with looking after the first hen party eventually asked about our beverage preferences to which we replied tea. I assumed she would return with either a tea menu or a selection of teas for us to choose from. Instead she returned with a full pot of tea and when asked replied it was English Breakfast, no choice whatsoever. The selection of sandwiches and cakes whilst plentiful were uninspiring and in some cases stale and with a very obviously shop bought taste. Only one small plate each was provided and therefore the garnish from the sandwiches inevitably became mixed in with the desserts. We didn't bother to stay for our complimentary glass of wine as by this point the 2nd hen party had arrived and we just felt in the way. A thoroughly unpleasant experience and definitely not to be recommended.

A friend and I went to the Fox for a birthday afternoon tea on a hot sunny day in the city. Hidden away off the main road the Fox is a quiet hideaway and near the famous Bond Street for some designer shopping. Tastefully decorated the Afternoon Tea is in a small room only seating about 8 tables with a bar area just off it.. However there was a hen party in the 'small' bar which was noisy & occupied most of it. I was glad when they went. The Afternoon Tea was plentiful with Champagne (free) as it was a birthday celebration with wine and free tea/coffee refills. I almost had the Gluten Free Tea which the hotel were happy to accommodate and we're also very helpful when requesting the acknowledgement of the birthday. The waitress was very eager to please, if not too much asking almost every 5 mins whether we wanted 'tea'... Personally I prefer the tea at the end of the meal (as does my friend) but we felt so obliged to accept the frequent offerings we said yes to please her and keep her from asking again.I have had quite a few different Afternoon Teas and always like to try somewhere new so I wouldn't go back to the Fox but only for this reason. Get an offer and I'd recommend it but don't expect a grand hotel.

We would have expected a selection of teas on offer but there was only one available, however we did get a free top up. The sandwiches were nice however the scones would have been better warmed up. I am not a member. I have only been here for a couple of days about three weeks ago. We used it as a good spot to overnight in order to go to an event in a club behind the Ritz. We had a good deal on late rooms. We arrived just before lunch and left late the following afternoon. On the Friday lunch time there were a number of members and maybe some of their guests using the dining room. From what I could see everyone was in good spirits, it seemed very convivial and and all looked satisfied. My son and I had a very good entirely fresh and tasty bar snack lunch. I had some toasted sandwiches, my son an untoasted one and we each had an excellent bowl of soup. There were at least four others eating in the cosy bar, obviously besuited and out on their lunch break. After going out on a very wet afternoon we returned for a perfectly acceptable pot of tea and cake. Nothing wrong with any of it, or the service. We were out to dinner, up late in the morning with sore heads and needed fresh air, so (having a room only deal), we nipped around the corner to the excellent Dom Vito cafe opposite Browns in Albemarle St. I later returned to the Fox club to pick up my bags and had another entirely OK tea at fourish. If the two earlier negative reviews are correct then I can only say that my experience was very different and that if there was a problem it seems to have been entirely sorted.

Imagine the most pedestrian, depressing, uninspired afternoon tea you can, and then refrigerate it for three hours. Welcome to the Fox Club. After receiving a 'Red Letter Days' voucher for afternoon tea from a well-meaning relative, Mrs R and I booked afternoon tea at the Fox Club. We arrived on a wet afternoon to be greeted cheerfully by a pleasant waitress and ushered into a slightly shabby but not entirely unappealing room. So far, so good.We started with a complimentary glass of wine - a bit odd before tea, but I'll never turn down a glass of red. Pretty uninspiring stuff, but that wasn't what we were here for. Then the tea arrived. Aboard a listing silver tower were stationed an army of variously unappealing comestibles - sandwiches on the lower deck, scones amidships and cupcakes and muffins keeping a doleful lookout from the crow's nest.So let's start with the sandwiches, which appeared to have recently been retrieved from somewhere underneath Eric Pickles. The Hovis / Kingsmill / supermarket-own-brand bread indicated we weren't in for a treat... Each sandwich needed to be prised apart from its soggy bedfellows, and the fillings conjured up school canteen 'can't be bothered' fayre of the lowest order. Processed ham, flavourless tomato and browning sweetcorn were the order of the day.Having sated ourselves on the sandwiches, we moved up the middle deck and things went downhill further. The cakes had presumably been recently salvaged from the Tescos remainder bin and were lacking any taste or even vague attempt to appear homemade. The previous diner's fingermarks still appeared to be visible in the icing, showing where they had been picked up but the visitor had clearly had the sense to think better of it. The scones would be best employed on a camping trip: useful for knocking in tent pegs in the absence of a mallet. We moved swiftly on.The crowning 'glory' was the cupcakes - again clearly shop bought, with icing more flavourless than I would have thought possible. Mr Kipling would have been weeping into his plastic-packaged fancies.A quick mention of the tea is all that is required - I couldn't quite put my finger on whether it was Tetley or PG Tips.I can only assume that the Fox Club is named after the little ginger fellows who must, nightly, have the best (worst) feast in the West End in the bins out back. This is my first TripAdvisor review, but in the interests of public service I felt it was my duty to warn other potential punters away from this place. Unless you think £35 is fair value for a good laugh, then don't bother. Or just go and meet the foxes out the back.

Very average food, sandwiches with plain fillings accompanied with black tea and suspicious dessert offerings. The staff aren't very welcoming and didn't make an effort with explaining what any of the items on the set afternoon tea were. If you want to have a nice relaxing afternoon tea there are better options in London, this is definately not one of the better establishments for this experience.

We were given a Red Letter Day afternoon tea for Christmas and chose the Fox Club. It was a really good tea with an excellent selection of sandwiches and cakes and a choice of various teas and coffees followed by a very nice glass of wine. It is a very small place with a bar at the front and a small seating area. The lunch menu looks good and we will certainly visit again. Staff were very friendly.

This place is a find! I had lunch there with my Wife and a Friend; we all agreed it was a delicious meal, excellently served in the comfortable restaurant area; my only complaint is that we were subjected to some intrusive, nondescript pop music, which seemed out of keeping with the atmosphere and clientele.

The choices on the menu were very limited, and the service was poor. But, the food was quite good. More like a little cafe than a private club.

I recently visited this restaurant, and while the food was genuinely enjoyable, the overall experience left much to be desired. The hostess mishandled my reservation, and instead of offering an apology for the mistake, she had the audacity to tell me I needed to wait, despite my arriving on time. This lack of accountability set a poor tone for the evening. To make matters worse, the waitstaff were incredibly rude and unprofessional. At one point, two waiters openly commented about us to each other, which was not only unkind but also disrespectful, especially as we could all see what was happening. Good food alone isn’t enough to compensate for such poor service and lack of professionalism. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone based on my experience.
