The Fox in St Albans

An evening meal before our flight from Luton. What a find. I booked only requesting a quiet corner table and that's what we got, couldn't complain apart from the family sat across the room with the kids watching cartoons that most people could hear! Anyway, the food was amazing, we both had the fish and chips with the mint pea puree. It was piping hot and tasted perfect. The fish was covered in a light batter and the puree was top draw, loved the homemade chunky tartar sauce. Service was quick helpful and polite. If this was our local we'd be there a lot, that says it all really, go here you won't be disappointed!

Absolutely amazing service by Alex and Krysia! They were both so caring & I couldn’t praise them any more. I was unsure of what drink to get & they gave me their advice & their knowledge of all the drinks. I cannot wait to come back. 5* service, 5* atmosphere and an overall 5* pub!

Fantastic, we enjoyed great food and faultless service. I can highly recommend this place if you are in the area. From entering we were warmly greeted (even without a booking), the restaurant is elegantly decorated and generous spacing between the tables. We shared a camembert to start, for mains I had pork belly and the wife enjoyed prawn and chorizo linguine, we couldn't get pudding in.

Great food excellent service. Ambience was lovely. Fantastic treatment from Marcin who made us feel very welcome.

Food was okay but the experience was spoilt by the poor service. My goats cheese starter was meant to be a main but came as a starter so I sat eating nothing as my friends ate their mains . The goats cheese starter was very nice though as was my friends seabass but the margarita pizza another friend ordered was dry and lacking cheese. Would not rush back !

Chicken liver parfait was very tasty and the chutney complimented the parfait. Mushrooms were tasty and in a lovely creamy sauce (used my finger to wipe the rest up) Steak and Malbec pie was filled to the top with beautifully cooked steak, no fatty chewy pieces, meat fell apart. All great portion sizes and would highly recommend our food choices and the venue.

Poor Sunday dinner tough beef not offered any condiments or asked how are meals were. Looks like under new management to busy to give everyone proper service will not be going back.

My friend and I were greeted and waited on by friendly, helpful staff. Chloe politely took our drinks and main course order after helpfully mentioning that a couple of items were not available. Our Elderflower Sherbert non-alcoholic drinks did not disappoint! Our food (Tempura Prawn sandwich with fries & Chicken&Mozzarella sandwich with fries), was extremely well presented & tasted great! We both had a mini chocolate brownie with a latte for dessert which completed our visit. We have regularly lunched at The Fox and have never been disappointed! Thank you to Chloe and her colleagues for making today’s visit another very positive experience ❤️

My family and I had a lovely late lunch here. Being from outside of the area, it was a pleasure to visit this little gem. We were lucky enough to get a table despite it being a busy Saturday afternoon. All our dishes were cooked fresh and tasted absolutely delicious, and including drinks, very reasonably priced. We were very pleased with the service, particularly a waiter named Christian who went out of his way to help us with our table and with our mother who was in a wheelchair. We shall definately be visiting The Fox again very soon.

As we were early to meet our friends, I ordered an extra hot Latte, when it came it was Lukewarm. My husband took it back, the girls behind the bar told him ‘that is our extra hot Latte, they couldn’t do it hotter as it would scold the milk!! Rubbish every other place I go to manages to serve extra hot drinks. My friend ordered a cappuccino which was also lukewarm! Food was ok, don’t think we’ll be returning

Terrible service - arrived at 5 with two young children and still not received any food an hour and a half later while later arrivals finished and left. We are local and used to be regulars but not anymore seems to have real issues atm.
