Held my uncle's wake here. Lovely staff and food, especially the sandwiches, and did a GF option for us as well. Very kind and even made a nice table with my uncle's photos on.

Good quality food and decent portions. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Lots of parking and garden with a play area. Highly recommended

Lovely Sunday roast...couldn't fault it! Good service too.

Family meal on Sundays Menu. This is a small pub, so if you’re a large family it might not be for you. It’s boiling in there so dress for summer conditions. Food quality is good however some meals did come out cold. Cold roast potatoes on Sunday dinner is not great. Only 2 chefs during a busy Sunday trying to completed 15 + Meals. You see the issues here. The waitress did forget one starter but it was rectified and removed from bill. She was probably the best waitress I’ve ever come across. Bar forgetting a meal. There’s young waiters here, they are ok. Your typical young adults that have selective hearing and sloth about the place with no real purpose. This pub doesn’t have a drinks meal. I know, crazy right. The chefs are good. But over worked. They need another 2 in that kitchen helping. Would I go back. No sorry.

Such a shame a beautiful setting, food really below average and listening to the chef shouting in the kitchen is not good maybe some background music to dull him out , bring back the old Fox at North Waltham

I was so looking forward to eating at the Fox ,having eaten there before i could not fault the service and food ,mind you this was 3 yrs ago !!!! i was most shocked and to be honest will not be back ? i had chicken that was covered in bread crumbs ,half a leek that looked a week old ,and sliced potato ,in all honesty i cook good food at home and when i go out i expect good food ? this was far from it !!!!

Went there for Sunday lunch. I had roast lamb. It was delicious and I had a very large plate full of food. The service was very attentive and very good.

Excellent lunchtime meal. Service was very attentive despite there being a function catered for at the same time. Obviously they had planned accordingly and everyone seemed happy. Prawn starter and fish and steak mains we're beautifully cooked and presented. Nice raspberry pavlova for desert

I have been to The Fox many times over the years. The pub is an old country pub with a large garden. There is a children's play area, lots of tables and dog friendly in the garden and bar. The menu is very good with pub classics and steak and venison.

The food and the Service were excellent.

Great welcome - they opened the door just as came to it. Super service. Food was delicious. Best Sunday beef ever and Doreen had a wonderful lamb shank special. Red wine gravy was yummy Sadly no room for dessert!! Must return soon. And remember to book first as it gets very busy

Great paté, soufflé and garlic prawn starters and scrumptious looking burgers but absolutely tasteless roast pork loin completely overwhelmed by taste of synthetic "packet" gravy. Such a pity. Saving grace was time spent with good friends. Will revisit and try something else next time.

Not quite rating five stars as all four of our meals could have been better one way or another. Overcooked and small portions seemed the order of the day. It’s a shame as it is a lovely old pub in a good location just outside Basingstoke.

The stop for lunch while hiking the Overton Circular. Lovely pub with great food. We all had clean plates at the end of our meal. Everyone had the roast which they raved about while I had the risotto which was absolutely delicious.

First time here for along time. Smipley delicious exerience all round. Made our birthday evening very special . Will difinitely visit again.

Family get together following a cremation. Excellent food provided and really good service at the bar. A little out of the way but with a lovely beer garden. Would be lovely on a hot summer day.

Google should do something to ensure proprietors are not unfairly penalised. When reviews are left up for a length of time.

I had the bacon ciabatta unfortunately there was so much fat on the bacon I couldn't eat it. My other half had sausage and really enjoyed it. Chips were nice. Lovely traditional pub with good service

If you like a traditional English pub with great food, lovely attentive service with a smile, this is the place for you. Only knocked the food back a bit because the pie could have more chunks of meat. We were looking for a country pub for lunch. We found the Fox, with good menu, fantastic food.. Be aware large portions well presented. Vicky and staff very welcoming. Will certainly return.

Lovely place to eat ,went here for family meal whilst on holiday, really friendly staff ,best fish and chips ever ,was quite a quiet evening as a week day ,service was fantastic so would definitely recommend !

My daughter wake was catered for at the Fox, Vicky and her staff went above and beyond to ensure the wake went smoothly, nothing was to much trouble for them, highly recommended

Just had to write a review to share what a lovely lunch we had here! The Fox had been recommended quite a long time ago and I believe ownership has changed since then. After seeing the menu online we decided to give it a try. The pub is very old school with a separate public bar and restaurant. The door was closed to the restaurant and we were never pointed in that direction so we are not sure if it was closed or if there was a private group in there (it seemed the person on the bar may have been training so perhaps she just didn’t think to send us that way). However, it didn’t matter as the unseasonably warm October meant we could sit out in the garden. The gardens have your traditional pub benches and you are in the middle of the countryside where we could hear the occasional whinny of a horse. What a treat to be able to enjoy all that in October! I have to admit I was initially very underwhelmed upon entering the public bar, we love a traditional pub but we had gone out for a rare child free lunch and I was a little worried about what the food might be like. (It must have shown on my face as one of the friendly locals told me ‘it’s not that bad in here’!) I needn’t have worried, the food completely exceeded our expectations, proper traditional pub food but brilliantly done! I had the Brie and the bbq ribs, my parter had the haggis and burger. Both were good portion sizes and both delicious! It’s so lovely to see these traditional pubs still running when so many have been lost along the way. The Fox came complete with a group of men sat at the bar like I’m sure many generations have done before them!! They were so friendly and welcoming, just like all the staff we encountered. I was reminded of a very important childhood lesson - never judge a book by a cover! I would definitely recommend a trip out to eat here.

Not many alternatives in the area. We turned up, ate and drank. It was nice. The garden well kept and good for kids. Pizzas not the best though.

Great Beer (2pt Good Old Boy and a coke), food (soup, whitebait, veg hot pot, sea bass, 2 desserts) and atmoshere (quiet, ideal). The only question we had was how has Rob managed keep his prices so low, most only a slight increase from 12 months ago - and one even lower! Of course we will be going back. Ian & Margaret

Six of us tried their Sunday lunch time menu yesterday. Only one of us had a traditional roast and everyone else enjoyed their menu choices. The steak and venison pie was worth the 60-mile trek alone but when followed by the sticky toffee pudding and Exmoor Ale I was not fit for much else afterwards. The vegetarian option was also well received as was the mixed fruit meringue. Too many choices! The staff were friendly, the Scottish gent who took our order was quite a character and the whole experience was most enjoyable. Well done at a reasonable price. Just one word of caution for tall people, be prepared to duck! There are low beams.

Friendly, efficient service with a smile and nothing was too much bother though we were a party of 14 at Easter. Excellent food and really friendly people. We will definitely be back for a quieter pint and food when there are less of us over the summer.

A great find off the beaten track. I chose the steak and venison in Guinness pie, wow, possibly the best pie ever, generous individual pie in short crust pastry. Guinness wasn't bad either. All of our party of 7 commented how they enjoyed the food

Nice buffet and warm pub with a real fire and spacious car park, nice new structure being built with slide for children in the warmer weather.

Good Sunday lunches This country pub / restaurant really does go out of its way to give the finest food possible, service all served up with a smile in pleasant surroundings. . I cannot recommend it highly enough. Another visit to the Fox, still very much the same as previous years, there's very much to be said for unchanging quality in an ever changing world.

We went to the Fox at North Waltham to celebrate my parents 60th Wedding anniversary as a special treat & were not disappointed. Thank you Rob & all the staff for a spectacular dinner & fantastic service. The range & quality of the food was excellent & I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant.

The Fox is as friendly a place to go to, for either just a drink or eating snacks or a full meal. And despite changes in staff, they have managed to maintain the friendly ambiance. Always a pleasure to go to, with the same level of service no matter what you're there for. Location, service and quality, all 5 Star.

Went to The Fox with 3 friends for lunch on Saturday. It was excellent from start to finish. All staff were both pleasant and efficient and the food was extremely good - all 3 courses. Good value for money - we will definitely be back and highly recommend this restaurant.

Probably a pub with two personalities? Kids climbing thing in the garden so attractive for families in nice weather and a more traditional old pub in the darker evenings. Huge outside seating area, covered smoking area. Only had a pudding and pot of tea as a tester but good Ale on hand pump. Far more classic than your run of the mill chain or pimped pub. I'll explore more next time I'm nearby. About a year later... Been several times now, nice food, comes quickly, good value - recommend.
