Had dinner here last night with friends, a lovely village, locals pub with exceptional food. Between us we had the ducking, beef casserole and steak, all very good, plenty of flavour and well presented. Service was good, as made to feel very welcome and welcome from moment we stepped through the door. A great experience and great value for money.

Staying in the village for a few days so the 3 of us staggered up the hill early one cold January evening. Very warm welcome. Good selection of dishes on the menu. My steak was cooked blue to perfection. Beef Casserole with mash superb and the duck with orange sauce lovely and moist Very tasty. Local beers and ciders were very well kept. Will definitely be back.

A proper country pub in the heart of the quaint village of St Minver. The staff are friendly and the food is good and reasonably priced. A good range of ales and ciders. If I have a complaint it is that they don't open on Sundays.

We always eat at the Fourways Inn when visiting the nearby St Minver holiday park This time reinforced my liking....a beautifully kept pint of Tribute, inexpensive and tasty food ( I agree with another Reviewer that the curry is great). All in all a lovely uncomplicated and enjoyable pub - long may it remain as it is. If walking up from the Holiday Park take a torch as the lane is very dark and puddly at the bottom !

Visited a couple of times for a drink as we were staying nearby for a week and 6 of us plus a dog ate there on the last night. Excellent food and beer and also friendly good service from the owners and our young lady server. The streak I had was one of the best for a while. Wished we’d had eaten there more than just the once. Straightforward good food and beer. Recommended.

Reservations are needed in this Covid 19 era to ensure you get a table. I would describe this Inn as a gastro pub, as the venue had plenty of tables full of diners and offered an excellent menu. Drinks and food are ordered at the bar counter and your food is delivered to your table. We had BBQ glazed pork ribs and a chicken tikka masala curry. Both were quickly served, hot and well presented. The pork meat fell off the bones and easily eaten by hand with the aid of a finger bowl. The curry was delicious and served with a crispy poppadom. My only disappointment was that the ice cream sundae was commercially produced and served within its plastic cone. Still, the staff were very friendly, engaging and we had a fun time.

An old fashioned cosy Cornish Inn, full of local characters. The owner Jamie is very welcoming. The food is standard pub fare, adequate but not outstanding, was of the impression the Cod fillet on the classic fish and chips was brought in pre-battered, and not freshly prepared on the premises as the menu states. The newly refurbished accommodation looks lovely but needs a bit of finishing. The bathroom door latch sticks, the locking mechanism into the room doesn't quite fit resulting in almost getting locked in the room twice. The cleaning staff need to be more thorough, the shower screen was not cleaned and covered in old soap suds and water marks, the drawers are not checked to see if previous guests have left anything behind ! A good port in a storm, literally in our case, but could be outstanding with a bit more work.

We booked however it wasn't busy when we got there, they had a little veggie and vegan menu with 4 options, 2 of these vegan, I had the penang curry which had loads of veggies in, rice and a popoadum, which was nice, the food was out quickly. Great, friendly local, and so good to see the labelled vegan options, always a worry going to pubs like this as often left with chips and salad.

Great village pub. Mix of locals and tourists like us.Good draft beers and they serve a fine pint of Tribute. We had dinner here and the Chicken Tikka Masala was outstanding, simply the best that I had ever had anywhere! Comes with rice and a papadum with mango chutney. Unbeatable value at only £8.95, We came back the following evening. Had the Chicken Jalfrezi which was also good, but not as good as the Chicken Tikka Masala. The meals were good value, so something to bear in mind if on a tight budget. Worth driving 3 miles out of Rock for.

Visited this pub on a Friday night in November whilst staying at nearby Parkresorts holiday park. It is possible to walk to pub from holiday park, but as this was a wet November night we drove to it. When we got inside there was a few locals there who were friendly. The food was good and plentiful, but such a lovely pub and with a log burner in the bar for some reason they only had one gas fire lit,we did not stay too long after eating our meal as it was a bit chilly. This is just a pub doing food and not a restaurant so no need to book a table.

We ate in this pub summer 2017 and the food we had was excellent, the bar was busy and the restaurant packed. Sadly that chef has moved on and the menu has reverted back to 'pub grub' which is fine if it's well executed, nothing wrong with a lovely plate of fresh fish and chips or if you just want to experience a retro 70's vibe (!) but if you are looking for something a bit more interesting then I would try elsewhere. They are praised for their 28 day matured steak, most of us chose this as the best option on offer and made it very clear we wanted either rare or blue cooked steaks. They do seem to cook a lot of steak and chips so one would have thought the cooking would be spot on. Sadly they were all medium rare and several steaks verging on being cooked well done...we didn't have the heart to send then back as that seemed such a waste. We left at about 9pm and the restaurant area was almost deserted. Pity, why go back to pub grub? and not even well executed pub grub!

I had belly pork and pork fillet served with braised cabbage and dauphinois potato with a cider sauce, which was wonderful. My hubbie had a steak, cooked to perfection and extremely tender. Our daughters a vegetarian and there was an option which sounded lovely but she opted to have a double portion of a roasted beetroot and feta salad starter. That looked wonderful too. Later we had sticky toffee pudding with ice cream that perfectly finished off the meal. The service was excellent, very professional. Some of the most recent reviews have painted The Fourways as an "unfriendly locals pub" I have to say the opposite, whenever we visit the locals sat at the bar always say "hello" just think without the locals this place would be very quiet over the winter. A couple of times over the summer the steaks were slightly smaller than we remembered, this has reverted back to normal had one last week that made even me smile. We was staying at the local holiday park so one day my daughter and I walked to this village pub in St Minver to have a drink. On entering the greeting by the guy behind the bar was not particularly friendly or welcoming and all the tables were reserved so there was no where to sit. Eventually we sat down at one of these reserved tables and was told quite bluntly by this barman after a few minutes that we would have to move as it was reserved. We finished our drink but decided that food must be good as all the tables were reserved we would book a table for the following evening for my wife, daughter and myself. I said I would like a table for 7.30pm if possible to which the barman replied 'we start at 7pm and would expect you here by 7.30' I was little taken aback but just said fine and left. On arrival for our meal the next day this barman again unfortunately served us and once I advised him I had booked he said your table is round the corner and left us to our own devices. After the family sat down I went back to the bar again and ordered some drinks and asked for a menu from the owner, I think, who was much more pleasant. My daughter and I each ordered the curry and my wife the trout. Well the curry was served in a bowl of stodgy rice with the curry slopped on the top and my wife's trout was still pink and undercooked and had to be sent back. Neither dishes looked very appealing to say the least. My daughter did not eat her curry at all and I left half of mine and when a young guy asked about the meal I just said it was Ok rather than start an argument and we left the pub never to return again. I would recommend this pub for a quick drink but there are certainly better places to eat in the area based upon our experience

We recently returned from a Mon-Fri visit to Parkdean Caravan Site in St Minver - we visited the pub during our last visit 18 months ago and thought we would pop in again for a drink. This is 'my kind of pub' - full of character, very welcoming hosts, lots of regular locals come and go to (a good sign I think). It has traditional oak beams, slate floors, typical pub games (ie pool table, dart board and a few slot machines), with pleasant enough music playing in the background. We popped in for a drink the first night then returned to eat for two evenings during our stay. The food is absolutely top quality. The first evening I ate the rainbow trout with almonds and my husband had the steak - my meal was beautifully cooked and was served with a beautiful salad - my husband said the steak was one of the nicest he had tasted (this was served with chips and mushrooms and peas) - on the downside his portion size was so large he couldn't actually finish it!A few evenings later we returned and this time order the lamb shank - oh my goodness this is absolutely to die for - a very generous shank served with potatoes and crushed vegetables, absolutely swimming in a delicious mint gravy. We are still talking about this meal having returned home! On both occasions we drank a very pleasant Rose D'Anjou bottle of wine (reasonably priced) and my husband also sampled the draft Tribute ale.All in all, if you are looking for a traditional pub, you will not be disappointed - the atmosphere is incredibly relaxed and welcoming and I can't praise the food highly enough - definitely worth a visit!

Read other reviews and decided "what the heck" - well, I was welcomed by a broad "hello" by the locals as I walked in. Kids had puddings and I stuck to the local ale which was the best I've had in Cornwall. Delighted with the visit and the walk back to our loggings under star lite skies was amazing. Wicked visit.

The steak here is the best I've ever had, cooked to perfection! Lovely big portion too! Great beer on tap too! A great old traditional Cornish pub! We will be back!

Well kept beer and good basic pub style food. Atmosphere a little lacking, though. Prices reasonable.

The night we went there food had finished for the night, which was a shame as we had all travelled a long distance. There was live music which seemed pretty good with lots of sing-along numbers. Good place to sit and have a chat and catch up with our friends. Parking is practically non existent. All in all we would return there when next in the area. Beer was very good.

Totally agree with previous review, its a pub with local customers, who are very friendly and welcoming. The food, especially the steak is very good. As is the service. Great value for money. The fourways is at the back of Parkdean holiday park, so maybe get more than their fair share of disgruntled holiday makers! Always polite, helpful and friendly.

Came across this pub whilst camping down in Polzeath. Let's get the one downside out of the way first, there is little parking, however, Pityme taxis (next village) do a cracking service. The pub itself is a locals pub and that should be respected by holidaymakers. Everyone was friendly and Richard runs a great bar. Plenty of choice for ale and cider drinkers. The real prize though is the food. We had the sirloin steaks and they were amazing. Beautifully cooked and huge. Incredible value for money. Looking at some of the other dishes leaving the kitchen this quality and quantity ran across the menu. They have a dessert menu but we were too full to sample it.This is a real gem of a pub, friendly, great service and incredible fayre and excellent value. Quite understandably you have to book well in advance for the weekend. What a great find.

Just had a few days in and around padstow. Had two meals at the four ways and cannot recommended the place high enough for good food well priced. The beer is also well kept. If you are in the area please try this pub.

We visited this pub whilst staying at the park dean site. The pub is in a lovely village and only 5 minutes walk from the park. We was hoping to eat at this pub but after walking in the pub we soon changed our minds we wasn't greeted with a warm welcome by the man behind the bar and was glared at by the locals. This is a very plan pub and very much a local pub for local people. Such a shame it's a lovely building it could b so much more than what it is.... So much potential for a lovely pub !!!

Having enjoyed a walk on a perfect May evening, we struggled to find somewhere to eat. We knew this pub and had eaten there on several occasions over the years, but not recently, as on our last visit the food had been very disappointing. However, needs must. This is a very ordinary country pub offering ordinary food on menus which had seen better days, but the meals we had were hot, fresh and tasted good. It seems to be very much a 'locals' pub and the attitude of the bar staff was not particularly welcoming , but the waitress was very friendly and helpful.

We arrived after not being able to eat at the nearby pub. my expectations were low however my mind was blown by the lamb that I had as well as my friends steak that were cooked to perfection. incredibly impressed with the food that was produced. dessert choice bit of a let down. And it did feel like we were invading the local pub due to the other customers being a bit bolshy.

Arrived here for a very late lunch on friday 6th september after being turned away from the Oystercatcher as the kitchen was closed. When we arrived a little before 6 o'clock laughing as it we had gotten lost in the many winding roads and because had we stayed at the oystercatcher they'd be serving food soon. We sat at the bar and were greeted immediately, if though somewhat informally. My wife and I soon discovered that we'd made a mistake as the kitchen here didn't open till 7 and were told they were fully booked. Luckily we stayed just long enough to be told that one of their reservations had cancelled and the we could eat at 7, so we did. Our order was taken at the table in a very rushed manner considering there was no one else yet in for meals. Just as we were beginning to think that we'd been lied to about being fully booked, every table was full and the staff were running all over the place. Our meals arrived promtly in around 20minutes and were cooked to perfection! The best steak i've had in years, must have come from a very good butcher and my wife thoroughly enjoyed the trout which was very small for the price but again perfectly cooked. The waiting staff checked a few too many times if we were enjoying our meals, this made us feel a little uneasy as though they were expecting something to be wrong, though I expect this was down to poor communication as the bar and floor staff seemed very inexperienced and seemed to be reciting the same script to every table. We shared a treacle tart for dessert and despite being a little too hot was exceptionally tasty. Possibly wouldn't come here again as though the food was great, customer service was appalling and food is served for a very short period making booking mandatory if you're looking to eat. However, it is definatly worth a visit just for the drive back to Wadebridge, the views are lovely!

Traditional Cornish local serving the residents of St Minver and the holiday-makers at Parkdean. There are no airs or graces here but the food is top notch. It's not arty farty fancy fayre, just wholesome grub cooked to perfection and in good proportion. They're missing a trick by only serving food for 2 hours (7-9pm).

We've ate here twice on our recent holiday in Polzeath. It's a traditional local pub with a good mix of locals and holidaymakers. The surroundings are homely rather than trendy with a pool table but the food makes this place a must visit if you're in the area. The menu is straightforward, traditional fare but portions are huge and the prices are great value for money compared to many others we tried in the area. Every dish our party of 6 chose was seriously delicious! The steaks are amazing, we also tried the chilli and the giant filled Yorkshire puddings which were similarly impressive and the treacle sponge was fantastic. All table bookings are for 7pm and you must be there by 7.30 latest. Service was excellent. If you want cordon bleu, innovative menus or a place to pose look elsewhere, but if home cooked, great traditional pub meals in a relaxed atmosphere are more your thing, book now!

Unfortunately we never got to taste the food at the Fourways Inn as a 'surly and unfriendly' manager turned us away on the phone. What sort of business turns away customers and potential business? The galling thing was we called in for a drink later onour way backto Padstow from Port Isaac there were tables free all the ime we were there. By then we had booked ourselves in at a much more welcoming spot. The food looked ok but sadly, through poor customer service we will never really know....

Good steaks, good beer, wine only by the bottle. This is a good size pub that could be so much better than it is - there is no atmosphere & the decor is very basic. With all those visitors close by they could do better.

This is a substantial pub which 'does food'. The menu is considerable but not particularly intriguing. However the piece de resistance which I would travel many a mile to enjoy is the plain straightforward steak. Quite simply the best in a long time. The bar on a Friday night is lively and resounds to the soft burr of Cornish accents. At the end of the week a fair number of folk reward themselves with a couple of drinks and a straight forward meal. The ales are well kept. The publican's labrador mingles with the drinkers ever on watch for a discarded crisp or pork scratching. Nothing pretentious but good value.

Beautiful building. Amanda the barmaid/waitress was very helpful and friendly. My family had the ham egg and chips, which was outstanding. I had fish and chips, the fish was delicious and fresh. The puddings were sinful and beautifully made.

Went for a coffee and was told could only have take away as it was 15:40 on a Sunday, my wife and I are both disabled and I have an ostomy and asked to use the loo and was told I could only if I buy something, so it cost me 7 quid for two takeaway coffees just to use the loo....thanks national trust
