Lovely atmosphere, felt at home with Christmas decorations and music. Wasn’t hungry but ordered a few sides from their menu. The chicken strips and halloumi fries were just what I needed. Very friendly staff and even had my favourite gin big smoke rhubarb and lemonade! Great night and very reasonably priced too :) and its dog friendly too l, they even gave Bob (dog) some treats

Came here for lunch with family, we all ordered wraps/sandwiches off of the very limited lunch menu. The pub was empty except for us (5 adults) and maybe one or two people nearer the bar. We ordered drinks as soon as we came in, found a table and ordered pretty soon after. Bearing in mind we had ordered wraps and sandwiches that came with chips, we waited a very long time, over half an hour. When the food finally arrived (after us chasing it up with the waitress), it was incredibly lackluster. The fish finger sandwiches were supposed to come with tartare sauce and on bloomer bread. The thin fish fingers were in cheap white bread and served with mayo on the side. The halloumi and chicken wraps were served without any other kind of filling, like salad etc and again the sauces were on the side meaning that they were very dry. The only thing that saved the visit was a couple of games of pool, despite the cues bring sticky and there being a poster on the wall saying that pool was free (it was cheap but not free!). Based on this, we wouldn't return which is a shame as we could see this being a real gold mine!

Came here for Sunday lunch. First time weve been here for about four years. The food has improved but the vegetables were soggy ( to be fair though we did come after two so Sunday lunch had been going since 12. Its very cheap, so you get what you pay for. The pub itself is clean and there are obviously locals who go in there alot. It does though have a lot of loud swearing which is off putting if you are trying to have a chat with friends. Would we rush back, probably not . There are far better places for a Sunday lunch but the staff are friendly.

My great nephew and I went to The Four Chesnuts on Friday July 28th evening . We played games of pool, had great chats with other customers, had some lovely friendly talk with the staff and enjoyed some very tasty food. My great nephew had fish fingers, baked beans and garlic bread and I enjoyed four sausages, mashed potato and a Yorkshire pudding filled with gravy and onion rings. There was more gravy with the potato too. Really good pub food at reasonable prices. It’s a very friendly pub where everyone says hello and if you want, carries on with good conversations ! There’s also a dart board as well as pool table and televisions screening current sport etc. but with the volume at ‘sensible’ levels . If you’re looking for a friendly, traditional pub with a fantastic staff team - The Four Chesnuts is where you’re looking for !

On a walkabout we found The Four Chesnuts. It was early after mid week and we were the only customers. The barman was welcoming as were our drinks. The front bar is quite unique being in the fork of the road and watching the trafic coming straight at us. The bar extends back a long way and there is a lovely garden to the rear.

Shittest pub in the world. Booked Christmas lunch and their chef walked out so after two hours we gave up. The management not once apologised and even got in an argument with their customers. Not taking any responsibility for their issues. We work in the industry and fully understand when things go wrong. But their attitude was unbelievably crazy. They didn’t care at all that we had to go home not having Christmas lunch. Thank you four chestnuts. The worst awful most uncaring management in Chichester. Be proud of your zero hospitality rating. We hope you close your doors permanently. Photo of our Christmas lunch.

Very slow service. Adequate meal. We booked and were told no table avail until 2 pm on Sunday. We were surprised when we arrived to find nobody eating yet Waitress who came to take order explained only one chef, just taken an order for group of 8 so would not be able to do our food immediately. Not even a couple of starter to keep kids going. It was 40 mins before any food arrived. The halloumi and chilli chicken starters were excellent, plentiful and hot. The carvery beef lunch was enormous with ecpxcellent section veg, lots meat. BUT the beef was quite chewy. Would rather have had half the quantity. Beef pie not special. Burgers and chips good

We had a table booked at 2pm for 6. Were told that only one cook and he was preparing a meal for a table of 8. An hour later our food arrived which was average at best. The few staff were lovely and working very hard serving a pub full of drinkers. If they want food custom they need a cook who can cope with more than 8 covers at once. Won’t be going back. Could also have done without some of the choice language from the locals drinking at the bar

The pub offers a rear section that is largely separate from the bar area that caters ideally for small gatherings (*see below), whether buffet style, or for a sit down meal. From the moment we met Sharon, the landlady, to organise our aunt's wake we received sympathetic, attentive service. Various options were discussed until we were able to choose what suited us best. Due to COVID restrictions we opted for a sit-down meal. The food was of a very good standard and the service we received attentive but not intrusive. Prices are very reasonable. We certainly intend to visit again. *gatherings of, I believe, around two dozen for sit-down meal

We arrived at the Four Chestnuts to watch the Man Utd v Chelsea match and enjoy a roast dinner. As soon ad we entered the pub a local made a rude comment about us wearing our Man Utd shirts. There was no football on the tv, it was horse racing but were told the football would on once this person had left! We were constantly glared at by the locals in the pub. Avoid at all costs!! Don’t advertise showing the football and have the horse racing on!

Twice this month we went there. Good service, clean pub. But they changed the food following a change of management. Changed the menu a lot; used to be good home cooked food with real roast beef slices and real chicken pies. Vegetables are mushy instead of steamed. No more macaroni & cheese with broccoli florets (the best!). Now it is cheap pub food. Also where are the waitresses/waiters? Unless they get back like before, they will loose more and more customers.

Stopped here for what we hoped would be a quick lunch on our drive west and chose this pub on the basis of the Trip Advisor reviews. For a start we had to wait well over 30 min for our quick lunch, apparently due to some power issue at the bar which they couldn’t help. When we got our food it was terrible and we only ate some of it because we needed to eat. The Cajun chicken was dry and over cooked and served with plain rice and bits of corn. The beef and ale pie was one of the worst pies I have had in years. Even the mashed potatoes and peas weren’t much good. I cannot understand how reviewers have rated it so highly.

Since the refurbishment, this place is great, we've been here several times since reopening and have never been disappointed, the staff are always very friendly and helpful, the food is also very good and at a reasonable price. We had Christmas day dinner and we all fully enjoyed it and also spent news years eve there in which they put on a great buffet, also plenty of entertainment with live bands and quiz nights on a Thursday. Would definitely recommend a visit.

We were passing by and thought we'd give it a try, as part of my birthday anniversary treat, and we are so pleased that we did, the food is freshly made and incredibly good. The staff are really nice and welcoming and the place is spotlessly clean. I would recommend them to everyone, we can't imagine anyone leaving this place disappointed. We will be going back even though it is quite a journey but it will be worth it.

The pub has had a great refurb. and is now much more appealing. I very rarely went here before but now meet friends for a glass of wine. It's attracting more of the community like the "yummy mummies" that just want a drink and a catch-up without going into the town centre.

We visited here on Saturday 6.5.17 at about 6 pm, we had popped in for a drink when it first reopened after the refurbishment but decided this time to eat. They really have done a brilliant job, we used to use this as a local before we moved and the pub closed. The service was excellent, the young lady was very polite and efficient taking our orders and bringing our drinks to us. The beer and food was very good for a pub but I have marked it down as the quality of the fish I had was poor, or more to the point the batter was very soggy and undercooked, shame as every thing else was good, hot plates, nice chips etc. I want to repeat that the service from the young lady was excellent, she was serving at the bar, taking orders and waiting, ok it wasn't very busy with food but she was very calm and looked like she could handle this level of activity easily.

I love a rags to riches story so I feel it is my duty to sing the praises of my 'new' local. Blimey O'Reilly, you can polish a turd! I get that spending £300k+ on a refurb will always lead to improvements but I haven't seen the place so busy in the (nearly) 2 years I've lived here and, chatting to one Chichesteran, it's been rubbish for a good 9 years! A great selection of beverages, staff are extremely friendly and helpful and you don't get 3rd degree burns off the lighting. Fair play to Danielle, Evan and Hannah for making the transition from Croydon to Chichester and well done to all the staff. Long may the success continue.

Although they’ve faced a few days of closure it doesn’t take away from the brilliance of the food they serve, food was done beautifully and the burgers cooked very well. Generous portion sizes and very very thick and tasty milkshakes I will definitely be returning. Also to note the tables and kitchen are kept quite clean and there was wasn’t much mess on the floor round the crowded tables which is a good sign the place is being looked after well.
