Had a family meal at the fountain tonight. Not only was the food amazing and great value for money. But have to give a massive thanks to Tabby who served us tonight. My oldest son is autistic and very particular when ordering his food. She was very understanding and accommodating with his requests and nothing was too much to ask for. He literally created his own burger and it wasn’t a problem. So thank you Tabby. The rest of our group had steaks and they were lovely. Overall great service, great food 👌

Never been in for food but we had a meal to celebrate our anniversary and was a great night food came out hot and was very nice will definitely return 😁😁

Recently dined here and had a rather mixed experience. The food was absolutely fantastic, easily deserving five stars. My compliments to the chef. However, the experience was somewhat marred by the service of one particular barman who closely resembles Uncle Fester. He was obnoxious and made the atmosphere uncomfortable. It's a shame that such excellent food was overshadowed by poor service. On a positive note, there was another barman who was younger, taller, and very helpful. His friendly demeanour and attentiveness were much appreciated. If the service could match the quality of the food, it would undoubtedly be a five star experience.

Excellent food, beautifully presented. Staff very friendly and professional. I loved the brie and mango parcels starter and the smoked haddock fish cakes. Had steak and ale pie on a previous visit which was gorgeous and Sunday roasts are delicious too. One tiny point - although the instant coffee was served to my particular request of strong and tasted good, a coffee machine would produce a better drink to finish those gorgeous meals. However there's a wonderful choice of superb ales.

Table of 15 work friends celebrating my 50th birthday. We all enjoyed our. Meal all the food was piping hot and delicious. Some of us had pudding which I believe were equally delicious. Most of the group haven’t eaten here before , be assured they will return. Lovely service very comfortable atmosphere. Reasonably priced for the great quality of food. So thank you to Mike, the waiting staff and chef for a lovely evening xx

Just went for a couple of beers. The choice was very good, a lovely coffee stout, only criticism was the staff are not very welcoming, didn't even smile, miserable lot ☹️

I don't often leave reviews but having had such a wonderful lunch & drink with my partner, I thought, it only fair to say something. There is plenty to savour in the menu. I had a freshly cooked homemade chicken burger with onion rings. I was pleasantly suprised how big the burger was (delicious). My partner had the chicken/ pulled pork burger also with onion rings ( for someone who doesn't do burgers..he soon managed to polish it off). There is an abundance of drinks to choose from which were great. From start to finish the team at The Fountain Inn were attentive and welcoming. Will be going back again. Would reccommend!

Popped in today as it was Bank Holiday and was lucky enough to be there for launch of their new burger/ kebab menu. As it was Greek Easter I went for the Greek and what a wonderful combination of tastes. My friend who is vegetarian went for the Veggie Patch and said it was the best non meat substitute she had ever had. Onto a winner here guys

As usual, the food was faultless. Everyone at our table was more than happy with the quality of the mains. However, the service left alot to be desired, which is sad because on previous visits, it has been great from start to finish. We ordered starters, but the mains arrived first. Seemed the starters didn't get prepared. The online menu differed from the actual menu. The wines advertised were not available, but the wine we did receive was lovely. All this added to the fact that we were seated alot later than planned put a dampener on the night. But, like I said earlier, the food is divine.

This would be my second time visiting and the food is just soo good!!! We all had steaks and they came well presented, tasted good and amazing value. With so many chain pubs in the area like Marston's, it is nice to find a independent pub with amazing food. Honestly it's such a great place to go for a special meal or just out for tea, ticks all the boxes.

Just pooped in for a vino- bar chap wad duper lovely greeting us, chilled the wo e glass with ice and was super friendly and courteous. Had a tough week and it was just what I needed- kudos to this pub and the staff - most excellent

A lovely carvery and a nice place to relax

Absolutely lovely Sunday lunch Never been disappointed here. Today, the lamb dinner with pugs in blabkets was simply superb, as was the candy floss ice cream and Butty Bach.

Fabulous lunch, our 6 year old grandson is a fan of their sausage and chips, just right for a hungry 6 year old.

Sunday lunch is always an amazing time! Been here several times and never disappoints! The last time we went they had ran out of a few things on the Sunday lunch, so was a little disappointed. But we’ve booked up to go again in a couple of weeks!

From entering the pub, our experience was 5*. From being served at the bar to sitting at our table and having our order taken for food. All our meals came out at the same time. And all 6 meals were lovely. Can't say enough about the 2 girls who were looking after everybody who was eating. Both were lovely and friendly. Definitely would recommend it and will definitely be going back

Excellent welcoming community pub. Extensive range of hand pulled beers and range of ciders. Food is very good, well cooked with a decent range of options and served by very pleasant and attentive staff . Good down to earth establishment where cleanliness seems to be very good.

Turned up at one o'clock on a Sunday half expecting to be turned away as we hadn't booked. Staff were friendly, helpful and they managed to find a table for us. Looks like a good selection of Ales, driving today so that's the first reason to revisit. Taken to our table and given a list of any small changes to the menu or anything not available. We both opted for the roast. Service was quick and we were soon tucking in to an exceptional tasty dinner. Yorkies were huge, veg was plentiful and cooked well. Meats were all spot on with a good serving of gravy. Too full for a dessert today, reason to return 2. Pub was busy but not too loud. Locals friendly and chatty. Thanks for the experience, we will be back but without the car next time, Cheers 👍

Went for Sunday Roast lunch with my wife and my mom & dad. We attended on the recommendation of friends and we were not disappointed! Met by the friendly staff who took us to our table and then took our drinks order. We all had a starter and main course. My dad and I had soup (very tasty), my wife had garlic mushrooms and my mom had prawn cocktail; all extremely tasty! The mains were delivered with loads of fresh vegetables; all piping hot. I struggled to finish but managed it! The whole experience was very good! Highly recommended

Brilliant beer, great atmosphere

Another great lunch with an easily drinkable bottle of red. Our usual selection of starter plates creates our own UK style of tapas. Superb food, freshly cooked each time. Great value for money, just look at the bill.Thankfully we have found a local pub close to home. We now visit on a weekly basis for lunch and will continue to do so. The garlic bread with cheese is sumptuous and melts in yer gob. Yours stuffed in Gornal.

Great real ale pub with good sized pub meals gets busy my need to book for food

Lived close all my life but never eat in the Fountain before. Will be back soon. Food was brilliant and I was part of a group of 20. Everyone agreed.

1st visit today, we had the roast dinner, great food, great service, friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, we would recommend the Fountain pub.

We had my dads wake at the fountain on 18th October and the team at the fountain couldn’t do enough for us we had the hot food and it was amazing !! The beers were exceptional as always and the atmosphere was brilliant, I can’t speak highly enough about this pub even the locals are all lovely people and passed on there condolences we all left and felt at home and nothing was to much trouble. What an amazing pub and what amazing staff !! They really have it right and made our sad day happy and filled with joy and celebration!! Keep up the great work and I can’t wait to return for a few of there beers and food

Last minute family meal. Really didn't know what expect, but couldn't ask for any more on the service and the food. It was actually nice to be asked more than once if you want another drink, which in pubs recently you get no service. So couldn't ask for any more regarding service. We all had steaks and they came well presented, tasted good and not bad on the value. Ate it to quick to take a photo. The new go to pub with family ☺️

Living fairly local to this establishment, my two sons and I (16 and 14) decided to visit for a drink and possibly some food. Having read good reviews on TripAdvisor I was excited to check this place out. Upon arriving at the pub I asked my lads to wait outside so that I could go in and make sure it was ok for kids to enter. As I approached the bar, I felt like I’d been transported back 30 years as I saw the eyes of quite a few of the other patrons straight on me. As a British Indian male I have experienced this scenario in pubs many times over the years so I didn’t let it bother me. I figured that maybe this was a ‘locals preferred’ type of pub. I politely asked the girl behind the bar if it was ok for my kids to come into the pub and she deferred to a man sitting at the end of the bar, who I can confidently assume was the owner or manager. He addressed me indirectly tending to speak via his staff member which was rather rude. He said that children were only allowed in the bar area until 9pm unless a table had been booked in the restaurant. Upon hearing this I turned back to the girl and asked if there were any tables available in the restaurant. I immediately noticed whilst I was speaking she’d broken eye contact with me, and her eyes were rapidly darting back and forth from me to the owner/manager. As I turned my head to see what she was looking at I caught the owner/manager frantically waving his hand across his throat gesticulating to his staff member to say there were no tables available. When I caught him doing that, he looked sheepish. As well he should - I was thoroughly embarrassed for him. At this point, now feeling very unwelcome, I politely said thanks to the bar staff, and I quickly left. An acutely horrible experience for my kids and I. An incredibly low (non-existent?) level of welcoming, professionalism and hospitality from this pub. I probably should have expected it given its location. I recommend people give this place a miss unless you know you will ‘fit in’ and don't mind a stand-offish approach.

10 of us had Sunday lunch today . Absolutely amazing . Can’t fault it

Thank you Mike and the gang for making my 60th birthday celebration a great success There were 22 of us and we pre ordered . In spite of the fact that the restaurant was busy our food came out piping hot and all at the same time. Food as always was spot on, compliments to the chef and the two waitresses worked their butts off. As always fabulous. Thank you

What a find , the food was exceptional,the staff were so attentive , the whole experience was top notch .My friend and I went at lunch time and we were very pleased with the menu,plenty of choice and even though we went off the menu slightly due to our diets ,nothing was too much trouble .We are really looking forward to going back next week.

Nice Pud local to us we had a Sunday roast 3 meats, my Misses had the Wellington Vegi 2weels ago we enjoyed good food so we went bk for second visit food was excellent 👌 again and the service is good not wait very long at all will recomened we will return keep it up Guys complaints to the kitchen 👍

Wow!!!! We haven’t been back here post covid and I’m gutted we haven’t been sooner! It’s a different chef to the flavoured mash and sausages guy, but not to the fountains detriment! This was flipping gorgeous! Every meal was bang on!! And every meal was huge, so if you want desserts, or starters, check you have room. You won’t want to leave any of your main! This place gets busy, so 💯 book a table, I think you’ll be lucky to get a walk in spot! The service was spot on, drinks replenished as we went along, always a staff member available! And the staff eat here too…. Such a good indication of food standards! I never hear a bad review about the food here, so so pleased you’re back on our radar!

We brought friends here for our first Sunday lunch at the fountain. We we lucky to get a table for 4 at 2 pm. Service was super efficient and friendly. We didn't have to wait long at all to give our drinks and food orders, these then arrived in good time. Sometimes with food, this gives me some nervousness but assuringly the food came out freshly made, hot and most importantly homemade. Beautiful meal. My only disappointment was that we had no room for dessert. I had eyed up the homemade lemon meringue pie but I was so full. 🫤 I always feel that giving a tip to the servers and chefs at venues like this, is good manners and in this case it was very well deserved and I thank them for giving us a lovely Sunday experience. Haven't been to this pub in a while. Only went for a drink . Still got a good atmosphere, friendly staff , the restaurant had finished serving for the day (Sunday) so pork pie and crisps. Good selection of beer. The only down side is limited parking .

Had a Sunday dinner with family and friends from their recommendation and was whole heartedly impressed, everything came together and could not be faulted. The wife hasn’t shut up about it. Service was equally as pleasant and a great little ale place for liquid lunches. Will most definitely be returning.

Lucky enough to be at the Fountain on the night they launched their own beer and as usual not disappointed. Beer was tasty and for first brew was very good. At the same time their new menu was launched and some new exciting additions which were sampled by 3 of us and we were all blown away and Matt the chef should be very proud. A real gem of a pub, do not miss out on this place.

We’ve eaten at The Fountain a few times with friends, the food is always excellent and great value for money, but each time our food takes well over an hour to arrive after ordering, that’s fine if it’s busy, the main gripe here is you only have the table for two hours. This Sunday we waited again over an hour, the restaurant was fairly empty, upon asking what was the delay, the waitress said it was because he’d ordered a fish pie which took a while to cook, (ironically previously, we were told that this was a pre-made dish) When ordering deserts the waitress said “we need the table back at 16:00 (the time at this point was 15:40) Our deserts came, you could see the waitresses looking over at us and moaning to one another. A heated conversation commenced when paying the bill. The waitress’s exact words were “I’m not paid enough and don’t care enough to listen to this!!” My friend pointed out that for bigger tables there should be more time allowed, the reply was “then come at 16:00 and you can have the table for as long as you like!” I then replied that I didn’t live in the area so that wasn’t really possible. Front of house has unfortunately let this little gem down, it’s a shame this waitress took such offence at our issue. I hope this is something that can be addressed by management, two hours should be extended for bigger parties if the food takes longer to prepare.

Table for four last night, all course excellent portions,freshly cooked and hot, girls provide excellent service, well done. Have been 6/7 times now and consistently good.
