Nearly always enjoyed fish and chips here, but not this time. I'm leaving a review because someone must know what they're serving up. Both small fish were very small and thin in the batter, too little fish compared to an average small fish, which meant the batter was very dominant in the mouth, and certainly not value for money. Chips not as good as normal, not what I'm used to here, perhaps not fresh but I'm not sure. But my friend's chips were awful, in addition to just not being yummy, there were masses of small bits. We binned our meal and went for something else, we just didn't enjoy it and couldn't eat it. 2 x Small cod and chips £16.

We had a 'chippy lunch' for the team at work and we had not been satisfied with the previous chip shop we used, so I called and asked if this was something King's could accommodate. From start to finish, the service was excellent. 21 meals, ready when I arrived and the staff could not do enough to help. Everyone in the office loved the food. It was a big hit. Thank you King's. We will be back.

Just paid £7 for “large” chips and curry sauce. The chips weren’t hot with many black bits. I’ve used this shop for many years and generally been happy with the food served. Sad to say I won’t be wasting the best part of a tenner here again. Sorry I don’t like leaving negative feedback but they were poor. If you are going to charge silly money at least deliver a reasonable product.

Have been using this chip shop for a few years now, BUT having checked the website that clearly states opening hours Monday - Saturday 12-9 when we arrived to order meals for six hungry people at 8.10pm there was a sign on the door that stated "closed at 8.15pm due to catering for a function" and even though there were other people arriving to order at 8.10pm we were all ignored.. Luckily we drove to the Blue Submarine in Russells Hall and WOW what a differance the food was absolutely spot on and so were the Staff.. Hence we will not be returning to the Kings Fish Bar. Moral, "One large catering order is not worth losing regular customers"

We booked up the brunch for 14 people. The service was really good and the ladies upstairs worked really hard with plenty of drinks. Really friendly staff. 5*

I ordered my food at about 4ish for 5.15 my partner went to fetch them on time they said another 10 mins so he said I can't wait they did the order but put vinegar on chips when it had got no vinegar the food wasn't very warm and to say I paid for a portion of chips it looked like a cone of chips, needless to say il think twice about going in there again .😡😡

Received cold, greasy food. Notified the restaurant but they didn’t respond. There’s an excellent chippy near Bromley Lane which knocks the spots if this one, they also value their customers.

Visited on a Saturday night at approx 7:30 was told there was no chicken kebab left. Left without buying anything

Sadly I’m unable to give any review of the food served here as the staff couldn’t be bothered to ask what I wanted ! The one person on the counter was having a chinwag with some bloke the whole time I was in there Another person walked off without acknowledging me and another chap ignored me also ! I struggled to get into the shop as steps are difficult for me but I was actually feeling quite faint and needed food ASAP …. you know FAST FOOD?! The pricing of food was astronomical compared with other places i buy from. Fortunately I had a packet of crisps in the car to tide me over. What a shame

Ordered chicken salad and chips beautiful food

Visited after work for a quick tea, on. Both occasions Chips were fresh and not greasy. Not too expensive for a chip shop either, service was quick and didn't have to wait any longer than 5 mins.

Firstly what food we had was nice…but value for money was atrocious … me and my family have used this chip shop for years and year by year the amount of food as got less and less…tonight is the last time I will ever purchase food from here…I’m not going to suggest where you go but food is great and value for money is 10 times better towards Russell’s hall hospital….

Hot always, not too greasy, the fish is fabulous so flaky and chunky more fish than batter. The best I have ever tasted. My guilty pleasure.

We have been going here for years but today and also a day last week they have become that miserable the leftover scallops are being refried from the night before. We saw two rings of batter and the potato was really thin and sparse inside. Too greasy. My second scallop had a black grub or caterpillar in it which I saw when I spat it out as it tasted strange. This will be the last time we go there. Used to be really good but not anymore.

For any kebab lovers out there Kings isn't bad but isn't top drawer either. Limited sauce choice and drown the kebabs in what sauce is available so pitta falls apart pretty quick... gotta say 2nd time I've had a dodgy stomach but probably was the too much sauce more than anything..growing old lol. Will have the fish and chips next time!

I’ve just spent £14 on fish, chips etc I had to throw the food away, chips looked like they had been left standing for half an hour and tasted disgusting! I will never return here and I shall tell my friends and family to spread the word not to!!! That was our treat takeaway as a single parent family! Some treat! I feel sick now!

The best Haddock and chips I've ever had,the staff are lovely and the place is spotless oh and I tried battered chips for the first time(who knew!).Will come back when we are next in the Black Country,superb.x

Maybe I'm biased since I've been going there on and off for over 25 years since moving to that part of K'Ford as a kid in '95, but as I approach 40 I've eaten kebabs all over the country and I don't think anybody gets it right like Kings do, and its every bit as good as it ever was. While I love a donner meat and chips (chilli and mint sauce please), I got switched on to chicken kebab meat at the age of 15 and never looked back. It's not just the spices used, I think most places dont cook their kebab meat thoroughly, it needs to have a bit of "bark" on the outside. I absolutely love it with chilli and garlic mayo. The chicken tikka is also excellent (I like mine with only garlic mayo). On the most recent visit I tried the peri peri, the newest addition, making it four "elephants legs" behind the counter, and it was really nice (spicier than I expected) but I'd place it third behind the other two chicken choices, though I'd likely order it again. Loved this place since chicken meat and chips cost £2.70 and you could get the fabled Kings Special for £1.60 - back when it was mini cod, mini sausage, a few chips and peas or curry was your only choice to think about! The place has come a long way and battered chips are a nice addition though I can only ever go half and half, I miss the traditional taste too much! My partner is from Poland and she's very much into anything calling itself gyros or shawarma, and she says its the best kebab chicken she's tasted in the UK too. The fish is always "bostin" too. Keep it up guys, here's to the next 25 years.

Been coming here most saturday afternoons now for family teas its the second time now food not good chips were like had been sitting there since lunch time roe was soggy, overall not impressed,will be looking for new chip shop i wouldnt mind spend £20 plus when come expect something decent at least

I accidently ordered through the site instead of Uber but we're really helpful on refund when I did order through Uber and the food arrived Faultless so nice no arguments best chippy had for ages the fresh roe my partner had beat had all season and mixed meat lovely so so nice Highly highly recommend

Visited this evening and I was disappointed to say the least the fish and chips were luke warm and not tasty at all although the dogs did enjoy . The staff need training on customer service . I won't be going there again.

Got to be the worst fish and chips ever my brother and sister in law had come to visit me and suggested we had fish and chips from here I haven’t used this shop for a long time it used to be so good but I certainly wouldn’t use it again non of us could eat the food so we ended up with sandwiches what a waste of money.

Really enjoyed our takeaway from here. Fish and chips were great, good portion sizes and not too greasy. Served in boxes which is very handy. They serve normal and battered chips which are both very good. Lots of things on the menu to cater for all needs and you can order ahead to save waiting. Great service.

Been having cod chip on a Monday the last 3 weeks, ordered tonight asked for box cod chips, didn't come in box soggy chips and soggy batter on fish, just not the same meal, but charged the same price, didn't even look the same disappointed

I work at EON energy down the road from this fish and chip shop and we had the orange battered chips for lunch today. LOVLEY chips 🍟 I moved away from The Black Country a few years ago and u missed these chips so much! 100 % recommended!

Back on a visit after 20 years in Cornwall. Popped out for tea and found this place. Oh what a treat - batered chips and scallops. I'd forgotten how much I'd missed them. Sooo good but, ooh, I can't move now - eaten too much but, ooh sooo nice😊. Great friendly service too. Well done folks.

Chips were littered with think black hairs entwined in the batter. A total of 5 hairs were found.

Called in for a change hadn’t used here for a while no where as good as it used to be staff very busy chatting to one another they are working yes but not concentrating on the job I asked for salt and vinegar on one and when we went to eat it the food was floating in it lack of concentration

The Scallops are nice from here and Some of the Staff are Friendly but the Chips are Just Average in My Opinion!.

Brought two kebads today one chicken and one donner both over cooked donner meat was tough chicken burnt black disgusting never again wish i had taken them back straight in the bin on my dinner hour so no time also wish i had taken afew photos

Just had fish and chips in a box! Prefer it in paper chips were too dry in the box so won't be going back Update It's also a cardboard box and isn't recyclable because it gets greasy so isn't accepted at recycle sites. I wasn't given the choice of box or paper either but paper is more environmentally friendly. If it isn't broken don't fix it!

Been here twice since the refurbishment. Took me a while to remove all the inedible bits on both occasions. Not good in my experience but seems I'm in the minority. I won't be going again.
