The Fountain Garden in Mole Valley

Have been going here for Chinese for over 13 years and have never had a bad meal or service. I was introduced to here by the in-laws who are regular customers and have been going for near on 30 years! You are never rushed through your courses and in fact it's all done at a pleasant pace to suit you.

Excellent food and wonderful service

I called the restaurant at about 1700 hours on Sunday and booked a table for nine people for 1830 hours. We arrived and were shown to our table with a lazy Susan (which helped when sharing the food). We received excellent service for the whole evening. We ordered food to share and there were enough for us to have at least two duck pancakes each. And that was after the starters. Then came the mains. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. They even offered my mum the use of their staff toilet as she is disabled and cannot get up the stairs to use the usual ones. We cannot fault this restaurant and will be back if we are in the area again.

We were looking for a nice Chinese restaurant to eat after a long day visiting nearby sights. Found this excellent restaurant, had a lovely meal, food was excellent and very good value for money. Staff were very friendly, I'd like to mention Sonia, Rovena and Kirsty. Thank you for a lovely evening

Always found this a nice venue, spacious and comfortable. Food fine, staff friendly but disappointed this time to be charged 12.5% compulsory tip (service charge) when their website states 10%. When pointed out, no refund was offered. A shame to find this attitude.

Like stepping back in time to the 1970's ... Bright red ribs .. dry .. but red ... The rest of the meal was disappointing too ... overall a forgetable experience.. will not be returning

Disappointing Night at TNFG Let's just say my trip to TNFG last night was far from an enjoyable dining experience. While the service itself was decent – our waiter was attentive and refilled drinks promptly – that's about the only positive I can muster. The atmosphere fell flat. The lighting was harsh and uninviting, and the music was a strange mix of pop hits and elevator music that clashed rather than created any ambiance. It felt more like a brightly lit cafeteria than a place to relax and savor a meal. But the biggest letdown was definitely the food. It seemed It felt like something I could have easily whipped up at home, and frankly, probably better. Overall, it was a forgettable experience. With so many other great Chinese restaurants around, I wouldn't recommend it unless you're simply looking for a place to fill your stomach with food that's just okay. I have travelled the world and this was very poor, why is it still open?

Took a friend to lunch today at 1pm for her birthday, the starter for my friend arrived, my starter arrived 10 minutes later, this course ok, 2nd course, crispy duck, the pancakes almost cold, duck cold, main course, my friends chow mien cold, when pointing this out was told.” Perhaps the door was open and maybe draughty , when asking for sweet menu was told “ Chef gone closed at 2pm. Disappointing, as this was meant to be B/D present for my friend.

We booked a table for 6 at late notice on a Saturday night. We went for a set menu and all the food was delicious. There was plenty of crispy duck pancakes which were lovely. And the staff were all really friendly. I have no idea how the negative reviews can paint such a bad picture. We'd come back here again for sure.

Ordered takeaway last night, only 3 dishes, but all of them were perfect. Absolutely delicious. Better than other options in town by far but I will say, that they were much smaller portions than the classic Chinese corner place, and more expensive, but it is a sit down restaurant and restaurant quality. Would recommend to anyone wanting flavoursome quality for that extra buck. Very impressed and will come again.

Booked a table for a family lunch, we wanted Chinese for a change but only open from 12pm to 2pm on a Sunday but made the best of it. Was very quiet, we were the only people there to start, but the food was fantastic and well worth coming back again when a bit more busy for a more buzzy atmosphere. I shared the mixed hor d'oeuvres, which was very tasty, not what I usually have but the wife wanted to try it. Not a huge portion which would have spoiled my appetite, the tempura prawn and dumpling in particular were lively. For mains I had Kung Po Chicken with Special Fried Rice, both superb. My daughter ate most of the rice but we had plenty of egg fried rice for the table to share. We had coffee to finish, the filter coffee was fine but would have been good to have a choice of decaff, latte or cappuccino too but not a big problem. Will definitely come again.

One of the best Chinses restaurant's in the area. Just a few meters from Waitrose (free) carpark. Historic old building, comfortable, posh settings with tablecloths and flowers. Friendly attentive service and a comprehensive menu at reasonable prices. The bargain is the £10 lunch! I'll be back in February with friends.

Lovely place to go, food was great, although found the the Crispy chilli beef fairly vinegar-y but having said that, the rest of the food was amazing. Staff were all welcoming and very helpful

I had never been before, looked for a chinese restuarant in the surrounding area for a while, so booked this one. Good parking (drive past the place on you right, and parking is down a narrow lane just ahea on the left) Restuarant Atmosphere was good set in a very old building in Dorking, tables are well spaced. Serice was great, drinks where prompt, waiters and waitresses were polite and engaging. Food was amazing - old school chinese food. Ordered the £28pp banquet, with extra squid, twice baked pork, and a lamb dish - totally un-necessary as the banquet was enough. Surprisingly, some dishes I wouldnt normally order (even from a takeaway) where the stars of the show. Overall, a great evening out and would certainly go there again.

Not a bad curry by any means but I specifically asked for no mushrooms and the curry was full of them! Also the broccoli was 6.50 for about half a small head with raw garlic and water on it. The egg fried rice was bland.

I was deeply disappointed by my recent visit to this restaurant. The staff's behavior was completely unacceptable – not only were they verbally abusive, but they also crossed a line by making inappropriate jokes about cancer. It's shocking that anyone would find such behavior acceptable in a professional setting. I strongly urge the management to address this issue promptly and ensure that such offensive conduct is not tolerated in the future. My experience here was not only unpleasant but deeply disturbing.

Very rude manager , got serious poisoning from eating the shrimp there and ended up telling me ‘to f**** off’ on the phone. I was very polite but the manage clearly wanted an argument.

Partner got food poisoning from here we phoned and the manager was really rude. We didn’t call straight away due to myself having cancer and I had my first chemo session next day. basically told us that we lied and was allergic to shrimp which has never been a problem before. Then he made a cancer joke. This was very inappropriate. Told my partner on the phone he should be the one in hospital. How is this appropriate? Never have I ever had to experience such bad customer service! I hate writing things like this but I think you should know before you give your money to a bigot!!!!!

We went to celebrate our sons A level results. The restautant and staff couldn't have been more friendly or accommodating. The food was amazing, service was wonderful not at all rushed. I usually get Chinese from the place next to triangle store but thought I’d try fountain garden for a change. I got shredded chilli beef with egg fried rice…so dissapointing, very dry, not crispy, rice was very dry also, no where near as good as the one I get from the other place. Won’t be back.

Really warm welcome awaited us and the service was great. Food was also very tatsy, beef in the black bean sauce tender, sweet and sour chicken perfect and topped with the sizzling prawns with ginger and spring onions made for a great meal. Thoroughly recommend for a good nigh out.

The food was very bland like no seasoning. Sorry for 2 stars review. I had a very high expectations since the ratings are very high. It tuned out this is was a disappointment.

Our favourite Chinese in dorking. The staff are lovely and the food is always great.

Pretty average Chinese food with fast service. The restaurant it quite large with some very big tables. Great for both small and large groups. Service is fast and efficient. The food is decent. Nothing special at all. The rice was a little over cooked and slightly mushy. Vegetables were watery and lacking in flavour. Pork was fine. Not sure I’d recommend.

We dropped in here on a whim for lunch and found the food tasty and fresh, and the couple that ran the place very friendly.

Me and my good friend came to the new fountain garden for our weekly lunch out here and will be back very soon. Stopped here for a family meal en route to Gatwick Airport. Ordered a selection of starters and mains, food came quickly, hot, and very tasty. Probably the best Chinese meal we have ever had, and service was faultless. Thank you, and we hope to visit again soon :)

Being great fans of Asian cuisine we have experience of all the Chinese restaurants in Dorking, which are all good in their own right. However, for some reason we never got round to trying the New Fountain Garden until recently and since then it has become a firm favourite. Yes it’s a bit more expensive than others but the ingredients are so fresh, no MSG and every dish we’ve ever had from there has been superb. Only had take away until tonight, but decided to go out with family and it’s even better still eating in - plus great friendly service. Highly recommended as the best in Dorking.

I visit the New Fountain Garden in Dorking for both dining in and takeaways - it’s certainly my favourite Chinese restaurant in the area. The food is always fresh, it’s not greasy or salty and the couple that own/run it are always very friendly and welcoming. Overall it’s an excellent Chinese, and I would highly recommend it.

Can't understand why this place does not have 5-star reviews all the way through. The staff are absolutely delightful, after your first visit you are welcomed like an old friend, the food is so delicious and not over salted. They claim not to use MSG, perhaps that's why. Recommend salt and pepper bean curd comma steamed sea bream and and pak choi with garlic sauce. My favourite Chinese for miles and miles around.

Well prepared food. Substantial menu. Ideal for families. Reasonably priced wine list. Efficient and friendly service.

Had a great banquet here when visiting in a group of four. The dishes were varied and so flavoursome, produced with lots of fresh ingredients, and there were large-sized portions of everything we ordered. Each of the courses complemented one another very well, making for a memorable experience overall.

Have been here on many occasions with my family. We are known to them. The staff are great. They cater well if you have a specific food requirement to ( just ask ) the lemon chicken is to die for. A must try!

So slow service, children hungry, no meals arriving together. Never again. Staff just could not cope with the orders. Adjascent tables service was abysmal. Food was not great to add to the poor experience of an EARLY evening family booking. So disappointing.

Have been here a few times and hasn’t disappointed - probably the best Chinese in the area. Had one of the set meals for two. Some of the starters were maybe a tad dry (especially spare ribs) but crispy duck was good and the mains - beef in oyster sauce, some sort of chicken, and vegetables were very good - veggies not over cooked. The fresh orange segments at the end were a nice touch even if one of them was a bit of a winky (translation - a bit sharp, such that it makes you screw up your face and well, wink)

My second time here and I now have no wish to eat at any other Chinese restaurant in Dorking. Good food and service in an attractive setting.

Didn’t eat in but got takeaway and the best Chinese I have had in a long time, not gloppy, everything tasted good. Prawn dumplings were delicious. Only let down was the chicken satay slightly tasteless and the crispy duck was a bit dry. Everything else was spot on ! Would definitely use again.

Located in a very attractive 17th century building in Dorking's West Street. Good choice of menu and individual dishes served by polite staff. We have to be careful not to order too much as there are so many tasty favourites

We popped in here on the off chance as we had been racing all day and was staying just outside Dorking. The service was good and the portions ok but nothing out of the ordinary just bog standard Chinese. The drinks were extortionate £3.86 for half a Chinese lager and because of the amount of salt they use you need hydrating all the time. The people that run it and the staff were pleasant enough and we took our leftovers away with us. Have been to better Chinese restaurants and a lot worse so on the whole a positive vote from us.

We went in impulse to this Chinese restaurant and were very impressed by the charming and attentive service and the delicious food. Both the quality and quantity were excellent. We had a set meal and the starters were probably the stand out course. We drank Jasmin tea rather than wine and my teapot was refilled without my asking.

Ignored for 20 mins after we had sat down, starters awful over coked , the duck didn’t,arrive at all, so awful that they gave us a free bottle of wine by which time our evening had been ruined and we only wanted to go home - I would not bother going to this restaurant, wish we had left in first 20mins and we might have salvaged a special anniversary. My husband and I went for an impromptu lunch and found this wonderful Chinese restaurant. The food was wonderful, the service was great and we were extremely surprised at how reasonable the bill was.

We come to this restaurant monthly and have never been disappointed with a meal. We usually choose a number of our favourite dishes and mix them between us. The service is always good and polite. The house wine is excellent and reasonably priced.

I discovered this restaurant about a year ago and have eaten here every other month since with friends and family and travel from Sutton I have never had a bad meal.Decor dated but food, good service, good value tuck in.
