Haven't been to the Forresters Arms for about 25yrs so decided to give it a go on the recommendation of a "take away" customer. Firstly the staff are pleasant and welcoming and we did not have to wait long to be seated. We both decided to have the mixed meat Sunday lunch(lamb excluded) and the good size portions came freshly made and hot and there was no complaints about the food. The Décor could certainly benefit from a face lift but as the manager explained he wants a traditional pub that serves food not a restaurant that serves beer. We will certainly be calling back because we both prefer "home cooked food" when we eat out so we'll look forward to trying other meals on the menu

Called in here for a drink. There were a couple staff wearing masks but some weren't. I assume that the guy walking between tables owned the place. He was going from table to table no mask or anything. Table service from the bar girl was efficient and polite at least.

Went down here no contact details were took, never seen the tables being wiped at all! Considering we are in a pandemic you would think they would take extra precautions! Very disappointed. Didn’t feel safe and to top it off none of the staff were wearing face Mask or visors.

So I just married my best friend, the day was special and one thing that contributed was this place. They truly served us amazing food even though we could not finish it we fully enjoyed. They made it feel like a wedding should feel with the atmosphere decorations and the service. I will always be grateful to them and would recommend anytime Thank you for making the cherry appear on top of our cake during this time.

Our first visit here and thought we would have a drink in the beer garden but due to typical English summer weather in August we decided to have Sunday lunch instead inside. A cosy pub with friendly staff. Lunch was really nice with 4 clean plates.

I stopped coming here for a pint a few months ago,and when a few of my friends were heading that way I decided to give it another go. as he advertised he had problems, although a few weeks earlier he was selling all stock cheaper to get rid of it. Unfortunately when I got my pint it tasted like TCP, I had to leave it and try a bottle which you can't go wrong with but it had seemed it had been in the microwave it was that warm. Devastated the landlord has started to kill a local bar which had a great atmosphere.. I went be BACK!!!

I came down to this pub for a Sunday dinner and I was really disappointed as the restaurant is cluttered full of biker helmets paperwork, letters and other stuff Which isn’t good as if you took your lass here she’d probably finish you best taking her to McDonald’s To play it safe. I also noticed it was also hard to get served a pint as the bartender seemed to pay more attention to this woman with blonde/ginger hair. Was disappointed as was recommended there dinners were nice it’s more of a Star Wars bar than a “family” pub might as-well dress up as a stormtrooper. Full of old people

I came in here the other night i felt unwelcome and waited ages for the bartender to serve me and noticed him rolling his eyes it looked as if he wanted to be anywhere but the pub. However I let that slip but I noticed this young boy signing karaoke but it was stopped due to what appeared to be the owner/bartender complained as he was sitting down. The young lad asked why and what appeared to be his wife stormed over and snatched the mic of him and barred him all because he was sitting down whilst doing karaoke. I heard somone complain about how ridiculous it was and all he could say was that it was his pub and he needed to act like an adult. This is my first visit and will certainly be the last this is advertised as a family pub but doesn’t look it as what I witnessed this pub appears to be for the 50+ as When I walked in it felt as if I went back a few centuries.

Quite a few of the customers here are bikers but don’t let that put you off, they were good people. It seemed to be quite a quiet pub these days and from what I remember of many years ago is clearly in decline. The landlord was very welcoming and friendly as were the other staff. The outdoor seating area is nice in summer and this was a pleasant place to sit and have a drink.

Always a warm, welcoming friendly pub with fabulous Sunday dinners. A choice of pork, beef, gammon, lamb or chicken. Generous portions and lashings of delicious gravy. Highly recommended.

We usually go out for a family dinner on a Sunday and since we hadn't been to the Forresters for a long time we decided to pop along there were 10 adults and 1 child so we rang up to book a table and the lady on the phone took our booking, she greeted us when we went in it wasn't too busy which was fantastic!! We ordered our drinks which came really quickly I was surprised as it usually takes upto 10 minutes in other restaurants so we were given a choice of meats chicken, pork, lamb, gammon and beef we could have all meats or just one whatever you preferred there was a choice of small or large dinner which was great as I can't manage a large meal they also asked us if we didn't like and sort of veg and they would have it taken off our plate or give us more of another, honestly I have never had any waitress/waiter go above and beyond what was expected of them but they were so nice and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Our meals arrived within 10 minutes and I must say the portions were more than generous, the vegetables tasted so fresh as if they had just come out of the garden the meal was absolutely delicious!! After we had finished our meals the chef came out and asked if everything was alright with our meals and we couldn't praise them enough, a few of us decided to have a dessert from chocolate cake with custard to cheesecake there were a number of choices available, when they arrived as before the portions were very generous and half of us couldn't finish our desserts as we were so full!! I highly recommend everybody to try this little gem of a pub/restaurant as Jimmy and his staff will welcome you with open arms!!

Stopped off for breakfast and found automation had caught up with Morrisons, in the form of an automated ordering system. Finding our way around the screen wasn't quite as easy as big Mac and KFC equivalents but we did manage it, only just. Wanting to pay by cash, however, was even more difficult as the robot doesn't accept anything except credit cards so customer, much against the chagrin, had to use plastic. The breakfasts, when they arrived, was excellent and without doubt value for plastic.

Nice little hotel bar right on the Main Street of Alnwick I had drink several times during our stay in Alnwick. Margaret had the chilli which she said was nice. I wasn’t hungry so had the potato skins which came with a barbecue sauce and garlic mayo, which were ok but out of a bottle.

Asked for two teas with extra teabag and was informed the charge would be £2.60 extra. Discussed with my husband and decided to have coffee instead. Went back to the ordering area but had to wait while the two members of staff were discussing overtime hours with another member of staff. After going back to the table my husband who had an ‘americano’ needed more cold milk. Once again went to ask for some but must wait while one assistant was showing the other how to fill a serviette dispenser. Poor service and TEABAGS AT £2.60 EACH - Shame on you MARKS AND SPENCER.
