The Forge Inn in Blaby

Visited Friday evening, 15th Nov. Decided to try the chicken shawarma from the weekend specials menu. Compliments to the chef, it was amazing. We were extremely well looked after by our host, Josie, nothing was too much trouble for her. Thankyou Steve and Michelle.

We had a great eat family catch up at the Forge Glenfield, with exceptional service from Lily who looked after us all evening.

Excellent service from Lily our food was lovely we enjoyed our evening . The food was made to perfection especially the food cake .

Another great restaurant in the area. We booked for an evening meal everyone said they liked their food, but these are my thoughts. In some photos it looks like a lovely pub in a village. In reality it is a lovely pub in what remains of a village that is now part of greater Leicester. The last 200 yards to the Forge is a nice walk, within the grounds it is good setting. Once inside all the staff were fantastic. Our main server was Emilia, nice, efficient and clearly well trained in her job. The layout is super, our table was clean and in a great spot. Looking around they have laid it out well on different levels so you get privacy and atmosphere. The entire place was very clean. I liked the menu but have a look for yourself, the food was spot on. Try the garlic and two cheddars bread, not a boring starter, I could have eaten it all night. The grilled chicken breast burger with kimchi and the lamb was excellent. Prices are OK, again look for yourself. The beer was good although I only tried three of them. We will be going back.

Excelente almuerzo con buen servicio. Tuve una enorme patata al horno con frío y aguacate, que estaba delicioso. Mi marido tenía un pan caliente de jamón y queso, lleno de jamón y queso derretido. Está cerca de la M 1 , tan conveniente como una parada en un largo viaje. Sin duda recomendable!

A great steak that hit the spot.

Had the mixed grill @£25.50 food was nice and hot, but the gammon was really salty, as were the chips. My kids had fish and chips, no complaints, their. My wife had the curry that was delicious. Took over an hour for food to arrive but we was a big party and the place was busy, staff really friendly, would visit again

The staff are really good at their jobs. It can get very busy in there but you never have to wait too long to be served. It's a bit pricey but the food and drink is always very good. The atmosphere is very relaxing. I could recommend a trip here to any hungry/ thirsty visitor .

The Cajan Chicken is a must! My go to every time! tried other dishes too though and they are all good but this is by far my favorite!

Habíamos reservado una mesa para 7 y estábamos sentados en una zona preciosa en la parte de atrás con una división que nos separa de la zona de comedor principal. Esto le dio a nuestro pequeño grupo un poco de privacidad y ayudó a aquellos de nosotros con dificultades auditivas a escuchar la conversación en nuestra mesa. Todo el personal era muy amable e interactuó con buen humor y comprensión con nuestro grupo familiar. Apreciamos especialmente la actitud alegre y servicial de Annelia, nuestro servidor, que hizo nuestra noche de celebración aún más agradable.

The food was nice, but I'm not sure it was worth the price. The car park was very busy and people parked where there wasn't spaces making it very tight. The staff were nice though.

A super cosy village pub with a rustic country theme set in the older part of the village. Plenty of areas to eat with a small function room seating upto 14 with a board room type table and a two course menu. An area at the end of the pub can be hired for private functions with more informal seating and nestled behind a large fireplace so relatively secluded. There is an outside seating area. This includes a pizza oven area. The food is delicious and well presented. Posh Hot chocs are to die for! Very large carpark overlooking an old overgrown cricket pitch with wildflowers in it at certain times. Staff are friendly and helpful. Booking a table is strongly advised due to its popularity.

A great big thank you to the Forge Inn, Thank you for accommodating my family last evening so we could celebrate my birthday , I would highly recommend this restaurant for the Glunton Free choices that are available on there excellent menu , my Chicken Paster dish was excellent , The management and all members of staff are very smart and pleasant and nothing is to much trouble for them , Weather it food or a drink and chat with friend you will be in a lovely safe Atmosphere , Highly Recommended,

Beautiful pub. Excellent welcome and we’re fully looked after from start to finish. Only popped in for lunch and ten food was amazing! Early bird special menu has excellent choice.. will be returning!

Perfect food, comfortable place

Had a wonderful day today at the Forge. Food was delicious, as ever. Staff were very responsive and attentive, even sang happy birthday when they brought the cake out. Everyone enjoyed. What a beautiful restaurant! We have been served by Lily who went above and beyond and had a smile on her face the whole time. We had a wonderful meal in the private dining area for my nans 80th birthday. Fantastic meal, would certainly come again

Booked our family of 12 in private dining room for our mums 80th birthday, staff couldn’t have been more helpful, both food and service was great, couldn’t fault anything, thank you for making her evening perfect.

I wasn't impressed with the meal I had it was my mums birthday and was ruined as the jacket potato was hard to eat and wasn't appetising too much rocket salad I was ma's that had to pay for one meal off £11 by right shouldn't of had to pay only the drinks it is disgusting I will never come back again and thanks to forge inn my mums meal was ruined the only people I would recommend is the waitresses as the were very nice but the food Is crap

Family birthday lunch - party of 10. Lovely atmosphere & food choices were great. Large portions for the price. We brought a birthday cake with us (prearranged on the phone with no problem). Despite the fact the pub was very busy on a Monday lunchtime, we weren't rushed at all. Staff were professional & courteous at all times. Highly recommended.👌

I was aghast to see how little I got on my plate a small bunch chips 2 slices tomato and 1 mushroom and a small tough rump steak last year food was far superior to what we all got sorry to write this but prices don’t match what you get

We had a fabulous visit here a few months ago (left glowing 5 star review) so good that we decided to revisit for special occasion even though it's 60 miles from home. One Front Of House member was lovely, Bella, I think and I'd like to thank her for her pleasant and friendly service. The second member of staff was totally unengaged and quite abrupt, really changed the atmosphere of the experience. (Blonde French plait). This was a shame and nothing like the enthusiasm and passion that we'd experienced on our previous visit. Food was lovely, though there was a minor issue which was dealt with almost adequately, but I was surprised it wasn't handled in a way to ensure a better customer experience. A shame.

Delicious food, especially pizza and great atmosphere!

Fabulous last minute decision by us! What a find! We were greeted by every member of staff that we saw - it was a lovely welcome . The decor is so smart, the staff are all tidy and properly dressed and service was fab ( thank you Amelia!) . Food was great - wide range of options. Virtually no children or youngsters so the restaurant had a very sophisticated feel. We really enjoyed and will be back !

It was ok. Disappointed that the steak salad had no dressing and the mixed grill had cold mushrooms and grilled tomatoes on, but besides that it was ok.

Played petanque. Food and beer was excellent.

We were given a generous voucher to use at The Forge so we pushed the host out with a Ribeye steak and mixed grill. The plates were hot. The food was hot. Excellent table service. It was a busy Friday but every thing was spit on. I can’t have dairy products and I asked them to cook it without butter which they did.

My wife and I go to The Forge Inn quite often, and we decided to treat ourselves to a nice meal to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. We ordered a selection of sharing plates, and everything was perfectly cooked and delicious. The portion sizes are generous and they use quality ingredients. The waiting staff, including those behind the bar, were brilliant as always. We were mainly looked after by Claire, and it was so nice to be recognised and to have a chat while we picked drinks from the wine menu. The Forge always feels like a nice place to come back to, with a warm welcome. Everyone was so lovely, and I'm especially impressed because it was boiling hot and super busy. I don't think I'd have kept my cool rushing around like they did! We got our drinks and food quickly, empty plates etc were whipped away and everyone always served with a smile. Mad respect, you're all awesome. Thank you for another lovely dining experience!

Excellent service and great food

Been here a few times so pretty much know what to expect. Our table wasn't ready at our allocated time due to the previous party overrunning there 2hr slot. It wasn't a major problem and I get sometimes the staff struggle to hoof people out. We lived with that but then to put a bit more salt in the wound the service was slower than we've come to expect. There was 14 in our party so I'm trying to be reasonable in my assessment all things considered. Would I go back yes of course its still a good meal. We spent £425 so at the end it might have been nice if the manager who was very accommodating in his efforts to apologise for the delayed start might have just come up at the end and acknowledge the situation and thanked us for our understanding. It's the little things as they say.

Another superb Sunday lunch at the ever popular Forge. Junior was very accommodating for sorting out our party including mobility needs. The team give you a lovely warm welcome and we were served by Lily who was attentive and friendly. The food is delicious with filling portions. We tweaked a couple of orders due to preferences and these were done with no hassle. Top tip - book early for larger parties as this is a popular place!

I would like to say a special Thank you to a member of staff Kirsten who was our waitress last night. I’m a regular at the forge with my friends & family. However last night was my son’s 12 birthday and due to his ADHD & Autism he struggles in social situations. A member of your staff Kirsten was fantastic and ensured his birthday burger came out exactly how he wanted it. Nothing was too much trouble. She laughed & joked with us and made our evening so enjoyable. Kirsten ensured everything was ok with our order and the my son was having a great birthday. He can’t wait to come back again! She really is a credit to your team. Thank you so much.

Busy, bustling pub / restaurant with a wonderful range of ales and a great menu. Staff were very attentive and helpful as we arrived early for our table. However, we purchased drinks, took them to the outside seating area and when our table was ready a staff member came to find us an escorted us to the table

Fantastic Sunday lunch with very friendly and super staff .

The service is consistently good and this Sunday lunch time no different. A few minor blips but forgivable considering how busy the staff were. A couple of our group have a need for gluten free and this was catered for. Food was very good with decent portion size.

I don’t usually leave reviews but my experience here was amazing. Service when trying to book a table as I was travelling from London to meet my son whose studying in Leicester - very helpful trying to accommodate my time. The starters were amazing and the best roast I’ve had in a long time. Atmosphere lovely. Definitely visiting again .

Excellent food and service… The Inn never disappoints…the choices are amazing and the food is always perfectly cooked (thank you chefs) nothing is ever too much trouble. Staff amazing too and they know the menu inside out and can answer any questions… (thank you Lauren, Layla) . A special thank you to Mason and Matt who are brilliant hosts. I just wish we lived nearer…. It’s a halfway visit for us when we break our journey and stop for lunch…. Wouldn’t stop off anywhere else. Highly recommend!

Took my Dad for his birthday. Couldn't fault the experience, Door service was exemplary and waitresses attentive. We all had different dishes and had good things to say about them all. Will make it regular

Had a wake for my Grandad there. It's a lovely place. Really clean, decorated nice. They did chips with the buffet which was nice.

First time having the early bird menu. Excellent. All five of us cleared our plates. Definitely one of my favourite places to dine. And gluten free fish and chips and sticky toffee pud with custard.

The team at The Forge Inn were very accommodating and attentive on my visit there with family and friends to mark a special occasion recently. They went above and beyond to provide a superb, first class service. There was a lovely atmosphere. The food was amazing, beutifully presented and exceptionally tasty. Staff were very friendly, polite, and attentive. They went to a lot of effort to meet our needs/requirements. The pub itself was also very clean. I would highly recommend this fantastic village pub and look forward to my next visit there.

We arrived 2 mins before the kitchen closed and the staff were great! So accommodating and we managed to order a few nibbles which were all so delicious! We’re not local but will definitely make the journey back as we loved it so much!

I had the sirloin steak from the regular menu a bit more pricey than other places. However the quality of meat is good and it was cooked perfectly to my liking. Good selection of drinks

For this visit (26.03.2024), I've given an overall rating of 4 stars, so it must look odd that I've given 5 stars for each of the food, service, and atmosphere. Let me explain why... I come here approximately once every 2 months to meet up with friends where we can have a good girly catchup. The food was its usual high quality, and I have to recommend the macaroni cheese (with bacon) from the early bird menu. It's just so yummy. One of my friends had the chicken ceasar salad and she really enjoyed it. The refurb looks really nice, and the new menu looks tasty. Now, as I said, us girls love our chats, so we are often behind with ordering, etc. because we're too busy nattering. However, after we were winding down from everything, food, etc, for the first time, we were made to feel they just wanted us gone. Quite a few times, the staff would come and hover over our table, not saying anything, but we felt quite uncomfortable about it. There's hovering to see if there is anything to collect from the table, but this didn't feel like that this time. I will say not to let this review put you off. Remember, we've been coming here for years and we're usually fine. Next time will probably be as great as the previous visits!

Stopped off here whilst doing a walk in the area as was recommended as a great local pub. We hadn't book but staff allowed us to sit outside which was great as weather was lovely and warm. We both had a roast Sunday lunch which was around £19 and a pint of Phoenix £4.60. Phoenix was a lovely refreshing pint which had a fruity flavour and was very nice to drink. After waiting about 30 minutes we chased the food and it arrived soon afterwards. Really great quality. Meat was tasty and roast potatoes were excellent, very tasty and flavourful. Vegetables were also great and very well cooked. Overall really great food and drink and would recommend.

1st visit with friends post 10 pin bowling 🎳. This is a pub group who have 3 x Everards Tenancies( Beautiful Pubs,).Good choice of drinks on offer. Staff were very smart in appearance and attentive.Menu was good choices quite pricey but quality of food was excellent.For a Saturday lunch I was surprised how busy it was.At 1pm the place was packed.We All had 3 x courses and left very satisfied and will definitely return.

Food was good, pork belly bites the best starter on the menu. Never eaten there on a Saturday, very busy, young staff were very good and attentive but a special shout out to Tilly, polite and cheerful but really just very good at what she does, thank you for the birthday muffin, very nice touch and I'll remember that.

We first discovered this fantastic village pub last year, which is just off the M1 motorway, on our journey down to Southampton. It has now become our go to place to break our journey and stop for lunch en route. On arrival we were given a really warm welcome and were shown to our table in the restaurant. There is an excellent choice of food on the menu together with an early bird selection at lunchtime and early evenings. The waiting staff were all very attentive and helpful as we had some questions about the menu. There is a good selection of wines available together with a selection of hand pulled beers. When the food arrived it was well presented and was of an excellent quality. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and we will definitely be returning again. I would thoroughly recommend a visit to this excellent pub. A big thank you to Mason, Matt, Aeryn, Libby, Lauren and Layia who all made us so welcome on this and our previous visit.

Went here with the family for Mothers Day lunch. Given it was one of the busiest Sundays of the year the food came out fast and great quality. Decent quality beef, and yummy roast spuds. Also.. they served up the best Eton Mess I've ever had.

I had an amazing sunday roast with all the trimmings. The chocolate fudge was delicious as well. The vibe is really nice here at the Forge. The staff are friendly and polite. The inside decor is good, with lots of seating areas and booths. The beer garden is huge and is perfect for a summers day. I've had one of the pizza's from the pizza shed before and it was delicious!

Visited yesterday after living in Groby for over a year now and we were sad we hadn't visited before. Came with 2 little kids and it was perfect. The food was delicious, well presented and generous potion size. Staff we were attentive and friendly ensuring we had enough drinks and everything was ok. Husbands steak was cooked to perfection and the kids ate most of their meal. The decor was lovely and warming. Will definitely be visiting again!
