The Foresters Arms Fairwarp in Wealden

Booked for a family Birthday meal, chose 3pm as small Grandchildren included (4 months & 4 yrs). We are all total foodies and all had a really really good meal. Mussels were drooled over by everyone & pronounced delicious, burgers gave us all "burger envy" and the sea bass was easily & efficiently made dairy free without a fuss but the star for me was the Roast Loin of Venison, Smoked Bacon & Onion Pie - the redcurrant & port sauce was amazing & I almost licked the plate. We usually skip dessert as it is often evident that they are frozen, bought items but not here. Amazing crumbles, again dairy free option sorted easily, an amazing cherry frangipane, wonderful treacle tart with enough clotted cream to sink a ship & a great sticky toffee pudding. Mention must also be made of the children's meal - fresh small cod, chips & peas went down a treat as did the fab chocolate ice cream. Well done all - staff were pleasant and helpful. We will be back.

We went to the Foresters on recommendation and wasn’t disappointed. A beautiful quaint village pub off the beaten track which has loads of character. Dave was a welcoming host as were his staff. We went straight into a lamb and beef Sunday roast which was plentiful and delicious. So often I’m disappointed in traditional pub Sunday lunches but this wasn’t the experience I had today. Meat in abundance and well cooked vegetables all topped off with rich gravy. For sweet we had sticky toffee pudding with ice cream and frangipane tart. Again very tasty. Would definitely recommend and will return ourselves.

Lovely efficient service. Amazing Moules. We requested a quiet table and it was perfect. Burgers are massive and quite delicious. Second time we’ve been in a week so it’s worth the 1/2 hour drive for us! Would highly recommend

Had a disapointing Sunday lunch.My starter of Gravadlax lacked flavour and the roast lamb came not in slices but as what looked like a boneless chump chop,,a cut which I woild use in a casserole.I had to ask for mint sauce.My partner's roast beef was overdone.

We met family friends here for lunch. The goat cheese tart was light and airy. The fish and chips were perfect. The dessert was incredible with homemade ice cream. It was a totally unexpected surprise. My compliments to the chef.

Now under new ownership, so I returned with trepidation as I had greatly enjoyed meals there under the previous ownership from 2021 to 2023. Here in 2024 I am so pleased to say what a delicious meal we had. Between us we shared a burger, and the duck, the chocolate mousse and the warm frangipan - they were all divine! Properly home-cooked food by an extremely good chef.

Excellent food, nice surroundings and great ales. Wonderful local pub in Ashdown Forest. I recommend it especially to dog walkers

Lovely pub with great garden area and parking. We came for Sunday lunch. The bar itself is warm and cosy with seating at the bar area which is nice. The restaurant in the bar area has a nice atmosphere and there is another area to eat which feels more secluded. The menu is varied and food was delicious. Try the mackerel pate so fresh and tasty as were the scotch egg. We ordered the lamb for our lunch which was amazing with fresh veg. The staff were very efficient and friendly with a special mention to Amy who I believe has only been working at this pub and restaurant a few weeks. A lovely place to visit. We shall be back.

Absolutely delightful, beautiful garden, fantastic service. The menu looks fabulous and really enjoyed the fish n chips and burger in our group.

Used to be one of our favourite pubs in the area with great food including their fantastic fish and chips BUT not anymore something has changed possibly the Chef! The fish batter was very artificial and not professionally prepared, mass production! , the chips were not as good as before and not much of it ! The Ploughman dish was poorly prepared with small piece of Brie and a tiny piece of cheddar cheese with slices of ordinary bread not even soda bread and a bit salad ! The service was very good as well as the atmosphere in the pub but please do something about your food quality to represent your reputation.

Have been to The Foresters Arms many times, however this was our first visit since being under new management. Food was excellent and staff were very attentive. It was good to see a busy pub! Good amount of choices on the new menu. There wasn’t a “Specials” menu which personally I’d like to see in future… but that’s the only thing! We had a wonderful evening with friends and shall definitely be returning soon!

New beers impeccably kept and new times to give one more chance to enjoy them.What is there to to say more?If you like good beer good food and a proper pub come here

Delicious food served in a very comfortable environment. The Foresters is in a pretty village setting and we highly recommend a visit.

Used to be one of our favourite places to eat - had the best pies in Sussex by far….now only doing Chicken & Leek in puff pastry??? Menu is just the basic favourites…far better menu before. Front of house were great as usual Scotch egg starter tasted good - but £9! With only a spoonful of hollandaise sauce….Fullers Farmshop do them twice the size for £2.75! Also had a very gloopy tasteless chowder again very overpriced. Mains were tasty, but only the chips were very good.…but for whole meal only mediocre for the price. Been coming to this pub for years and every bite has been delicious please get the old chef back…please! Left sad and underwhelmed - will start looking at trying some new places. Have stayed at the new owners hotel in Alfriston and food there was really good btw

For the first time in 150 years the Foresters Arms is now owned by an entity other than a brewery. Seven different breweries from 1875 until the present day. We were very impressed with our lunch , a new menu, already some changes and more to come, and good to see Dave still there managing the place. The new owners have done a great job with the Plough and Harrow at Littlington which bodes well for the future of the Foresters. Well worth visiting and currently with seven day opening.

The cheese ploughmans was a joke - a slither of Brie and a larger piece of cheddar - fair enough the only cheese mentioned on the menu were these two but ONE slice of fairly ordinary bread, a few lettuce leaves and small gherkins and tomatoes…..£13, not impressed at all

Excellent Sunday lunch, hot food, hot plates, home cooking. Friendly staff. Would highly recommend. Will be visiting again.

We went for the first time and what a great find the welcome our dog and the staff looked after us very well we did book as we have been told it can very busy. A good range of beer and larger. The menus was very nice a good range of food The food was served well and very tasty we will be going back

We have had 2 fabulous meals here now. Whoever is running the kitchen really knows what they are doing. Beautiful fish and chips the first time and the pie of the day the second. Excellently well kept Longman beers (choice of 3) and a really nice vibe about the place. Keep up the great work.

Have eaten here a couple of times recently first time as a couple, was so impressed with the food we took the whole family back for a birthday meal. Again the food did not disappoint, Sunday roast was excellent, starters, desserts everything was lovely. Staff very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be returning, hopefully soon.

Stopped going here over four years ago because the service was so slow. Visited today, lo and behold, nothing has improved! Waited for an hour for one course and the delay after that was so long, we decided not to have desserts. The food is reasonable quality, nothing exceptional but they have no idea regarding customer service. It annoyed me when the staff came over twice to ask if we wanted more drinks, but nothing came out of the kitchen. They don't serve a complicated menu so there was no excuse.

I have had 3 roasts in the last 6 weeks at the Griffin, The Hurstwood and the Foresters and this in by far my favourite for food. Also the value is also the best. Not saying the others are bad just this is the best!

What a little gem in the Ashdown Forest: just popped in for Saturday lunch and had an amazing homemade steak and mushroom pie. Great friendly service and a smashing atmosphere; full of families and well behaved pets. Lovely ambiance. Does exactly what a friendly village pub should do! Did I see crab on the specials board? Excellent old fashioned pub where a friendly publican makes you feel very welcome and the staff are pleasant and attentive. I give it two thumbs up. Good food and a lovely atmosphere.

We thought we'd try out this pub for a lunch to celebrate my birthday and are so pleased we did! The online booking was effortless and we were able to state that we were bringing our dog so got an appropriate table. The service and the food were excellent - couldn't be faulted. Highly recommend this little gem.

Great pub, 5 of us went for lunch and were very pleased we chose The Forester's Arms for it. The staff/servers are the nicest and most helpful I have ever met. The food is out of this world, the pie is one of the best I have ever had. The other meals were The Pulled Pork burger, the salmon, the mussels and a sausage and mash which were all perfectly presented and were served in good time too. Great selection of a variety of beers on tap and bottled. Will be returning very soon as they play live music also.

This was a Jag club event. The pub looked inviting outside & in. Staff were lovely. Food was beautifully presented & tasted delicious. Good sized portions. Would recommend & I'll definitely return.

Popped in here on the off chance after a walk in nearby Ashdown Forest. What a welcoming place, a decent boozer with a fine selection of cask ales available. If they have belly pork on the menu I can highly recomend it. Great pub/food/service :)

We took a wrong turn and noticed a sign for a pub, so we thought let's have lunch. Luckily for us they do lunch on Monday and Tuesday. It was the best Steak Pie we have ever had. Lovely lady who took our order and served it. Good value. Thank you very much.

My friend and I had an excellent Sunday Roast with all the trimmings. I came just before Christmas with another friend and really enjoyed it as well.Good variety of vegetables and tender meat.Also better, in my opinion, than 8 Bells in Hawkhurst, which I visited also before Christmas, that got the best roast award!

Roast beef cooked to perfection. Pork Belly moist and so tasty with crackling which was absolutely perfect. Roast potatoes delicious and vegetables firm. Nut roast was amazing - flavoursome and firm. Gravy yum and additional cauliflower cheese lovely and cheesy! Eton Mess just right, not too sweet, not too creamy. Accompanied by a bottle of fizz for our anniversary - I'm so glad we celebrated our wedding here all those years ago as it's the perfect excuse to go back, time and again!

Great pub, amazing food and friendly attentive service. I had bangers and mash.. absolutely perfect! Delicious sausages, smooth mash, fresh veg and lashings of yummy gravy, with more on the side. I have just watched Marcus Waring cook bangers and mash on Master Chef Professionals.... Forresters arm's was way better!!

We visited today for Sunday lunch and we were pleasantly surprised with the service and beautiful home cooked food. As well as the wonderful roast dinners, I can also highly recommend the fish finger sandwich! A delight! In summary a lovely traditional country pub with a very cosy feel and the beautiful food and drink was extremely good value. Highly recommend.

Enjoyed a fab turkey and pork roast in their garden. Food was delicious and plentiful. The service was excellent and waitresses were warm and friendly. We had our 5 month Jack Russell puppy so the pub is definitely dog friendly. This pub was recommended to us by friends and we too would recommend as well.
