It is a lovely cosy ambiance and service is excellent. However drinks prices for wine are really high. Lower the prices and more customers will come. The place is immaculate - clean toilets and nice seating. Prices need adjusting but still a great asset to Farnham Common.

A bit underwhelmed by the outward appearance/location of The Foresters and by the big TV in the bar but that's where any misgivings ended. The welcome from Dave was great - despite the fact that we'd actually arrived an hour early! Going through to the restaurant we were impressed by the decor. Clearly a lot of thought had gone into the layout and the noise from the bar was not a problem and the TV was out of sight! And then the food! (We don't do starters or desserts). Our young, female server was superb and very patient as we were taking an age to make up our mind. We did have an excellent Malbec to sup as we were deliberating though! My partner eventually settled on a rib-eye steak (the rabbit wellington came a close second) which would not usually have been her first choice in the steak department but she declared it to have been cooked to perfection, tasted wonderful and was nicely presented. The side of spring vegetables was just peas and green beans cooked in butter - not the usual go-to of steamed broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. Also excellent. I had chosen sea bass and scallops cooked with summer peas and in a Chablis reduction. Again, beautifully presented, cooked superbly and full of superb flavours. We shared a pot of triple-cooked chips which were hot (as was all the other food and the plates, by the way) but maybe just a little too salty. A very minor criticism, though. Overall; superb and we would recommend The Foresters to anyone. The staff were very good with none of the 'is everything ok guys' that we often get elsewhere. Price-wise? Towards the top end but even so, the quality of everything from the decor, service and food made it excellent value for money. The Foresters is a 70-mile round trip from where we live but if we're ever in or around Farnham Common again, guess where we'll be eating!

Food too salty ! Service rushed . Over charged us. Despite agreeing that a group of 5 or 7 would be ok our table, we need £15 deposit per person (£105) and then dis not refund the £30 for a group of 5. In addition they charged a mandatory 10% or £31 tip/service charged that was not justified . £305 for 5 people , two courses , no wine , overcharged We will not return. The toilets are dirty and door in the men’s toilet could not be closed . A poor experience never to be repeated .

We have been to this pub many times over the years for drinks and /or a meal which was always impressive so we decided to hold some large family parties at the venue, hiring the complete venue. In November 2022 I held my 60th birthday party at the Foresters for 150 people and the event was amazing with a great DJ, great staff and magnificent food. My wife was 60 in February so we held her party here too and what a success it was. Phil and Anne are great to deal with as are all the team they employ. We requested a similar event to my 60th but with a Thai banquet & Anne delivered something amazing-the feedback from family and friends is off the scale-well done to all at the Foresters!!!

Living Lines Dance Centre booked our end of year Christmas function for 10 people at the Forester. We ordered 7 starters for the table and all our ladies ordered drinks. The owner made us feel very uncomfortable by indirectly indicating that we have to buy food… he even spoke about how he has to pay his staff and that because of this we need to order a 3 course meal each. We ordered meals and some ladies ordered dessert. Both chicken steaks were raw.. and one raw chicken was served to a 8 month pregnant woman. All meals were incredibly salty!!! When we sent the chicken back the owner told us that the chicken isn’t raw, as if we had imagined this! We were very unhappy with how we were treated as paying customers. We will not be bringing our business back here again!

very little parking. My partner cannot eat beef on religious grounds and does not like fish so there were only 2 items only on the menu she could choose from { both Lamb } and one was sold out. I had the beef wellington and while the steak within was adequate if a little to cooked for me there was very little mushroom duxelle round it. The tiny pot of dauphinoise potato was stone cold with some melted cheese on the top. The beef cost £36 and the Lamb £23. My friend had a small portion of new potatoes with hers for £6.50. All in all very disappointing but having told the waiter about my potatoes and I was unhappy and then a gentleman at the counter as I settled the bill who I assume was the boss but who didn't bother to introduce himself, no deduction was made to the pricey bill or a deduction in the service charge. If you are going to charge these kind of prices the food need to be exceptional and It was only disappointing.

Went for an early evening meal ,firstly no parking only 3 spaces and parking in the area is differcult . Resturant was empty so no pressure on staff . Ordered steaks x3 ,one was not cooked correctly told waitress but as we were all eating didn't want to wait for another steak, steak was chewy and not nice ,had the gnocchi with king prawns what a disappointing meal for £24 you got two prawns again pointed out to waitress who said this is how it comes . My daughter had a strawberry daquri £13 was so small came a extra small champagne glass definitely not worth the money . We was given a refund for the steak and a free glass of wine ,but bill was still £270 for six no desserts or coffee. Would have been over £300 without the steak and glass of wine being taken off . Would not recommend

We have been going for years, but time to find a new venue. The steaks very dry aged in salt but way way way too salty and moreover 3 of 4 were over cooked by a mile. when medium arrives as charred and rare comes disguised as medium well there is a problem. Service patchy, male waiter excellent, female waiter not so. To pay 4.95 for a small heated bread is daylight robbery, a few olives were also overpriced. waited 50 minutes before main dishes arrived, that in any empty restaurant. distinctly average and not good enough. they took the steaks off the bill but one would have thought that a manager would have maybe come to have a chat. customer service zero. also no goodbyes when leaving. We have recommended our friends who are very much ‘foodies’ like us and they also rate the whole experience very highly. You must hold on to the chef!!! The only point I would make is that the serving staff appear to be extremely young and can come across a little nervous. It’s great to employ younger people however, perhaps they could do with a little more training to increase their confidence.

Had heard good things about the Foresters, and were intrigued by the sample menu online so popped by for a Friday lunch. First thing to note is there was a big difference between the online menu and the one in person. Now I know menus can change, but the menu in person had only 1 or 2 dishes matching what was shown online. That would be fine if the menu we were given wasn't so imbalanced in its options. In the mains, for example, there were four different beef dishes but no chicken dishes at all.

We ordered bread which apparently had "just come out of the oven" but took 30 minutes to get to our table. We then were bought our mains directly after with my son's food missing. Sat there with a hungry child and having to wait even longer for his mains was a nightmare and to top it the staff didn't really care apart from the half heart apology. The roast beef was over cooked, tough and over bearing with the flavour of rosemary. My meal was taken off the bill but really they honestly didn't care to apologise for the service. I would not recommend going here unless you have a ridiculous amount of free time and are ok with the lack luster service and hit and miss food!

We were lucky to get invited by our son to The Foresters as he had raved about the Sunday roast and it did not disappoint. I choose the roast beef which was perfectly cooked, tender and medium rare. My husband had the chicken which he said was really tasty. It included all the usual trimmings, lots of fresh veg, big crispy yorkshires, and horseradish. The outstanding thing from the roast had to be the roast potatoes. Possibly the best roast spuds I have tasted, dare I even say it, better than my mums, and that is pretty hard to beat (just hope she doesn't read this!). They were crispy, golden, fluffy and tasted amazing. The portions were generous but we managed to squeeze in some beautiful desserts.Service was excellent. My wife and I visited this gastropub by chance while in the area. We were greeted very warmly on arrival and shown the a la carte menu, plus a brand new fixed price two/three course lunch menu which, we were told, was being introduced that day by a new chef. We chose that. I had a starter and main, my wife had main and dessert. Although there was no choice, we were extremely impressed by the presentation, quality and taste of all the dishes. The starter was pumpkin soup with toasted pumpkin seeds and a goat's cheese curd. For main, there was confit of duck (beautifully cooked, very tender and plenty of it), with white beans, black pudding, continental sausage and a garlic crumb. Desert was a trio of rhubarb cheesecake, poached rhubarb and passion fruit sorbet with vanilla.

We have been to the Foresters on a number of occasions now with friends and family. The food is really interesting and tasty, with generous portions. Furthermore, the menu gets refreshed quite often. The restaurant has a refined ambience. The outdoor eating area at the back of the pub is a very pleasant haven and worth a visit. Jay and his team are welcoming, courteous and efficient. It has become our go-to favourite in Farnham Common.

This pub is a lovely local pub with great food. Would recommend for food or drinks. Has a lovely area out the back and also has friendly staff. In the evenings they can close early if there is not many people in there but if there are stays open late.

Just like meeting people, you can usually tell a lot about a place when you arrive - the sign outside in large letters KITCHEN STAFF WANTED URGENTLY rather summed it up. Mother’s day meal. £35 a head - you never expect much do you? What's the difference between a £10 Sunday Roast and a £25 one - Mother’s day the saying goes. Place is lovely to look at, although I had to swap my seat as the chair was broken. It was placed on another table where a lady sat all lunchtime without complaining ... The starter a seafood promise of crayfish and lobster arrived in a pot - which should have had a sealed lid . The chewy contents were pretty awful all mixed in with an uncut salad which no matter how hard you tried you couldn't cut up because the bottom of the pot was concave - like a NHS dexterity test for the over 50's. It could have been worse - the meat kebabs were apparently like "barely cooked stewing steak." The four Sunday roasts arrived - the Yorkshire pudding saved the day - massive and perfectly cooked. Same meat as the kebabs - only this time the fatty brother ... most of mine was just FAT. Potatoes again great and veg was a floret of broccoli and cauliflower covered in a cold white sauce. Half way through the meal - getting tired of navigating our way around the dirty glasses and plates we waved at the four staff chatting and asked for the table to be cleared. The dessert - well - half an Easter egg, with a sort of uncooked choc mouse, sprinkles of something yellow and maybe icing sugar? We ordered a bottle of wine after our drinks - the name and origin of wine was on the list but not the date - so we had to assume it was all 2017 wines? The bill arrived with a flourish where they had forgotten to remove the £40 obligatory deposit that had to be paid to experience the place. We left a tip - habit I suppose. Will we be back. Not ever. BTW pot plants were given out at the end - but only to some tables and not others ... not sure what the criteria was but at least someone remembered why they were charging so much for so very little shame they forgot to tell the manager./ chef/ whomever is responsible for allowing the food to go out.

Had a fab meal here tonight with excellent service. The food was delicious and plenty of it. We had the chicken Kiev, beef and burger - all were really tasty, as was the home-made bread.

The food is average and the staff are reasonable to slightly rude. However, it's offers food and drink at a reasonable price. If you're local I'd recommend a visit, if you're stuck for plans.

We still use the pub as a meeting point before getting a train to the rugby at Twickenham and have noticed the food offering and changes happen. Snacks, beers and the welcome still as good as ever. Really must come back for dinner some time!

Been here to eat a couple of times. Have to say the first time we visited over a year ago the food wasn't great but upon recommendations from other people that it had vastly improved we went again and the food was very good indeed. We were a group of four and everybody's meal was tasty, well presented and good value for money. Nice pub, was a bit bright for my liking but that's just a personal preference. Friendly and welcoming staff.

Have just had Sunday Lunch at The Foresters. We were a party of 11 celebrating a 30th and a 60th birthday - nothing was too much trouble for the waiting staff from moving the table settings to accommodate the needs of a 90yr old slightly immobile father and those of us with long legs (the large glass topped table is set on three very large travel boxes), and providing us with plates and knives to cut homemade celebratory cakes.Must not forget the food which was top notch, we had the beef and pork and all agreed that it was superb. Some of us even had room for dessert!Look forward to making a return visit.

I was lured in with the promise of quality coffee as they advertised on their a-board having Monmouth Coffee. It didn’t taste a bit like that in Borough Market, not that I was expecting exactly the same but did hope for something drinkable. Tasted over extracted, thin cheap milk and simply poorly made. I’ve read the previous reviews about poor service, it was absolutely fine, a tad rushed but ok. I did notice the 25p warming of ordering a takeaway drink cup to drink in and the no laptop or iPad rule in force. Overall all would be fine if the coffee was at a better standard.

A really nice and clean chip shop. Food is always cooked fresh and tastes delicious. Staff are very friendly, portions are generous and always get my order spot on.

Food was ok, not great The onion loaf was greasy, nothing special about any of it, the seabass was over cooked too. Won't be going back again in a hurry, much better places around to get a decent steak!
