Top quality fish and tasty chips, can get busy but worth the wait, limited parking around the side

I went to pay with my phone and the woman behind the counter said that they don't take debit cards or phone payments. She suggested I go to the cash machine around the corner at the newsagent's. But I don't carry cards on me, because I pay with my phone. She then gave me a bit of paper with the shop's bank account details on it and said I could pay via bank transfer! For fish and chips, lol. Anyway, I opened my banking app but the account details she gave me wouldn't "take", and I could not do the transfer. So I left the shop empty-handed. No fish and chips for you! It looks like this shop is just being mean and doesn't want to pay the 20p or so that a debit card transaction costs them. Or maybe they are cash-only to keep HMRC off the trail. False economy, as they lost a sale to me, and probably to a lot of others who aren't going to bother going to a cash machine just to get money to pay them, especially when there are so many other takeaway food options nearby.

It's a chip shop, shame the dinner meat is made of sponge.

Terrible, ordered small chips and they gave about 10 chips deceptively wraped to look like there were more in the paper.

Great fish and chip shop, decided to give it a try since I hadn't been here for years and not disappointed. Portions are generous, including the salt and vinegar, and staff are always friendly. Been a few times now and always consistent - thank you!

I absotlutely love this place. First of all, the food is top class as the chips are very crispy. If you want a Perfect box of fish and chips, come to this place. The service there is unbeliveable.The workers are always nice, they always listen to your requests and always put a smile on your face. I come here very week, and they are always consistent with there food. A handy location and great food. I'm 100% sure there is no other better chippie in the UK than this. The cod was cooked to perfection. Chips dry and the price of the chips was exorbitant. The staff were not very welcoming.

You think what can go wrong by deep frying processed food from frozen - actually a lot! The Seafood basket was something so disgusting I've never been served before. Half of the bits were completely overcooked, hard and dry - while the other half was completely undercooked and watery, cold and fishy inside. I tried the bits and felt sick for the rest of the day. When I was asked by the fish shop person how the food was - I did just shake my head. I drove 20 mins to get to this place because of the good reviews. Most of them must be fake - avoid.

I’ve been meaning to leave a review for months, I would highly recommend Bens fish and chips. They offer the best fish and chips around Berks/Bucks, there is no other place like them. The chips are never greasy they taste amazing every time. They offer a huge menu for all your taste buds. They offer outstanding Customer service and they make sure you leave with a smile. With just one visit here you will never go elsewhere.

Fantastc! Beautiful fish with crispy batter minus all the normal grease, Lovely chips without loads of black bits and a lemon wedge too! Served in a paper box - which they even tape closed - so minimal sweating on the journey home. Absolutely lovely staff. Cannot recommend this place highly enough! Their Donna meat and chips gets a massive thumbs up from my son too!

This is my go-to place when I want a takeaway. The staff are all incredibly friendly (especially the lady), and it's reached the point where they now recognise both me and my 6 year old daughter when we come in together. The last time I went on my own. They recognised me and even gave me a lollipop to give to my daughter when I got home. The food is always cooked well and very tasty. Only once have they made a mistake with an order, but to be honest, given the great service and great food 99.9% of the time, I'm happy to let that slide as sometimes mistakes happen. These guys are great and I'm very glad we have them in Burnham.

The owner is extremely rude and very disappointed about his attitude towards woman especially me and a few of my neighbours he's been very rude too the lady on the other hand is really lovely but I won't be coming back I've been coming to this fish and chip shop since I was a child and never had any problems till the owners have changed such a shame !!!!

Chips were utterly disgusting. Under cooked and nasty. The Fish was freshly made to be fair but not great. I asked for a "Large Fish and LARGE Chips". He put the fish in first then chips on top so you don't get your "Large" portion. Chap serving me had gross dirty nails which touched my food so I had to throw quite a few of them away anyway. Not such a big deal considering they tasted gross and I threw most of what was left away anyway. I don't understand the good reviews, I would not eat from here again and I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone. If there is one positive It would be that the bottled water that I purchased was not warm. In response to the owner's comment below, Yes I have had plenty of great takeaways, but to be fair unless it is exceptional I typically don't feel compelled to review it. I feel compelled however to review takeaways which I consider so bad that people should be warned. You say that you take my feedback seriously, yet your response does nothing to address any of the points I make, rather you turn it back on me implying that I am unreasonable and never satisfied. That's fine. This review should have been an opportunity for you to change and do better for your business but now it will stand as a warning to others with your own dismissal of my valid concerns only going to underscore my points and your lack of care for your own business. I thank you

Expected more as the reviews are good must be fake reviews as they gave me an extra portion of chips to write e a good review but I cannot lie. We visit about once a week or so, writing another review for them as I’ve been going there for ages now! I find the service is always really friendly, helpful and spot on, the fish and chips are always hot, fresh, crispy and light. Great portions and prices, shop is well equipped and really clean. Customer parking around the corner. It’s perfect!

Ordered a shish kebab for a change. Lamb was seriously overcooked, hard and dry and should not have been served.

Very rarely have fish and chips because I usually regret it afterwards! But not this time. I went for the ‘Large’ Rock & Chips, not realising how large it was! OMG, it could have fed 2 adults and a child. It was fantastic, freshly cooked beautiful light moist fish and perfect chips, right up there with the best I’ve ever eaten. Thank you.

Top rate fish and chips Hi just finished another fabulous dinner of perfectly cooked fresh cod and chips. I have had many great meals from here in the last couple of years after moving to Burnham and have tried all fish and chip shops within the local area to try to find the best and consistently best shop to enjoy. It’s great to be able to phone up and order as it’s cooked fresh to order then able to drive up and get a parking spot become the shop and then pick up your great freshly cooked fish and chips. Paid for Fish cake & chips & only received chips. I also ordered a side of curry sauce that looked inedible. Put a photo for people to see !?! Looks like lumpy baby food. Also only takes cash (in this climate). Would give no stars if I could. Another horrible chip shop.

Notices about the rules are well placed and clear. Masks to be worn. Max 4 people allowed in at a time. 2 metres spacing. People observed the rules queuing at the required distance, waiting their turn, and only entering when called forward as numbers allow. Ordering in advance helps. Just pay on arrival, then a short wait for your food. The food is excellent. Prices are reasonable. The staff team are really efficient and friendly. Your food is served with a smile. What more can you want. Well done Big Ben's.

All I can say...FINALLY is Big Ben is the best🔥🔥they deliver, excellent customer service, accuracy of order amazing, never make mistakes 👍🏾👍🏾but for me, the best thing of all is the continued service they have provided throughout this Covid experience. Adhering to regulations, safe guarding both staff and customers and maintaining a high level hygiene at all times. Love Big Ben and all the staff working there. I wish them great profitability and hope they are able to sustain their business during these difficult times as they deserve 🥳

Simply the best for all postcodes beginning with SL! We pass several others to come here, it’s truly the best for miles around and the staff are always lovely too. Highly recommend, great selection, great quality and excellent value. Worth the trip.

I have been coming here since the start of lockdown in March for our takeways for 'Fish and Chips Friday' with my parents. We all look forward to our treat of the week as the food is always delicious and well cooked. The portions are amazing too! I'm afraid I cannot recommend Big Bens. The service was pleasant, but the fish I received smelt and tasted off. I contacted the shop, and was clearly not believed (Staff still polite mind you) I then suffered a bout of diarrhoea I will not be going back!

Phoned an order through, was advised on the parking (spaces behind and in front), went to collect and was nearly ready (fresh chips being cooked). Fish was crispy and large, ample chips and lovely calamari. First time using here, not sure why! Will go back again as very friendly, safe and efficient. And great food!

I consider myself quite the chippy connoisseur being from the north of England, as chips n gravy has been a staple in my life since birth.

I am visiting from the U.S. and the food here is tremendous value for the cost. Fried fresh to order Fish & Chips are the best I’ve had anywhere in the world. Big Ben Burger is a monster, and the sauce has a nice spicy kick. The Charcoal Grill Mix has quality meat and was enough food for 2-3 meals easy. Friendly staff is just icing on the cake. I go to Big Ben’s regularly and have never had a bad meal. Most fish and chip shops are hit and miss but Ben’s are the best because the food is freshly made, especially the chips. I wouldn’t go anywhere else ,
