Visited this pub with my husband on a Friday night. I have never met such poor service in my life…it was shocking…whoever the barmaid? Owner? I have no clue…I visit a lot of places but have never been so shocked of lack of service ..friendliness …it was almost like you were a problem going there! I guess they are freehold and are happy with “their locals” fine…good luck ….do not even go in there for a pint…unbelievable!

As i was returning from portsdown hill heading back to southwick i passed a sign saying Forest of Bere. I stopped to have a look and what a great place to sit and chill. There are lovely forest walks for able bodied walkers and short ones for those not quite so committed. Plenty of parking (pay and display) benches and fallen trees to sit on. Play areas for all ages. A green to play football. Great for a picnic which is what i did but sorry no barbecues. Gates are locked at 8pm. There was a mobile food hut which sold burgers , crisps hot drinks and milk shakes andomuch more of course including ice creams which i couldnt resist. Had a lovely two hours just chilling. Fab place busy with children as they dont return to school till next week but didnt put me off.lovely to people watch.

We visit here regularly throughout the year. My son is 5 and we’ve been coming here for about 3 years regularly. It’s a lovely walk and you can choose to go on longer or shorter walks depending on your preference. Lovely play area at the top for children of all ages. There is a snack van who is reasonably priced if you need a drink or snack. Toilets at the top by the car park are reasonably clean. Nice area for a picnic. Car park is reasonably priced. Very enjoyable day out in the summer or winter

Heard about the lunch time pie menu so tried it out and the pies were great. I do not think they serve food in the evening as it has an indian resteraunt adjacent to it - but the lunch time menu us great.

I am currently staying in Denmead for 7 weeks, and have used this lovely little pub many times now. It is dog friendly and has a great cosy atmosphere, the locals are very accommodating and welcome me and my vizsla Chilli every time.

Went with a couple of friends for our twice-yearly catch-up, as one had recently moved fairly near. A lovely olde worlde pub, very friendly owners. The food was basic pub-type menu but all home made. Between us we had pie of the day and shepherd's pie, and couldn't fault it - especially for the price. My friends had deserts, which apparently were delicious (I passed on that as I have such a small appetite, but tried a spoonful of the brioche lemon bread and butter pudding, and I wished I had had room for it!). Do try this pub if in the vicinity!

After a chilly ride around the Meon Valley we arrived at the pub for 8pm If your looking to hold a private function then try the Forest of Bere Awesome food in a traditional British Country inn with top class service. What is not to love about this place. This was our second year of Piefest and we were not disappointed. The bespoke pies made for the evening were out of this world. Home baked with locally sourced ingredients and packed full with filling and flavour, they may well be the tastiest thing you ever get to eat. Then just as your patting your belly in satisfaction the crumbles arrive and the agony of choice begins again, pear and ginger or cherry and forest fruits? Whatever your choice you're in for a treat. But don't just leave it for a special occasion, I have never had a bad experience here, from the lunch time menu to the evening bar food, it is always well prepared and full of flavour. I would Love to give this place 6 stars but 5 is the most TripAdvisor allow.

took the whole family including the kids and we had a great Roast at a very reasonable price. They have a great garden area when the Kids get restless and a nice decking area to get away from the busy bar. This a friendly village bar and ideal whether you want a meal or just an evening out with friends. Lots of parking which is always a bonus.

Not for us Im afraid, dark, dingy, small, musty, old fashioned, mismatched, seating cramped. Car parking not very good, staff friendly until another customer came up to the bar, then it was like ''buggar off please'' Clicky, everyone outside stared as we went in and again when we left. {Your not a local!!!} Similar to Portsmouth, dissapointed.

It has taken a long time for us to finally find a great Indian. We haven't ever been to the restaurant but the delivery takeaway is amazing! Everything is clearly made from fresh and clearly done using fine ingredients! The Bengal Sauce is to die for! The sauces are never oily and always tasty. Personally I don't like the tikka masala here, far too sweet for my liking but I adore everything else! Gorgeous! Highly recommended.

We stayed with another couple for 2 nights B&B plus one dinner. The hotel couldn't be better placed in Winchester but both the car park and the dining room are far too small for the number of guests. One of us had to wait for about 40 mins for a car park space (for which they charge £15 per night) and we had to wait for over 30 mins each morning for a table at breakfast. The hotel was busy but they should operate booked timings for breakfast rather than making guests wait for tables when they cannot accommodate the numbers. The food was very good but at dinner two of us were served our main courses about 10 mins before the others. I paid for the wine separately but when the bill was presented a service charge had been added which I asked to be deleted which it was.

Pleasant relaxed atmosphere, excellent food, prices reasonable, service perhaps a little slow. Gave us more time to talk. Give it a go.
